It can be kind of cramped inside but the food is really good. Very authentic. Service is friendly. The owner can be a bit dismissive but I think its because hes busy lol.

Love the theme; looks and feels like a traditional French family restaurant. Seating is a little tight (just like Paris!). Had very good breakfast and excellent service.
Be the first to ReplyGreat french food in a very busy cafe setting.
Had the mussels as an entree, and they were delicious. My husband ordered the scampi appetizer that he reported was only so so.

I'm fond of saying that a place could be anywhere in the world, when it's good: this is not true of Hey Jupiter. When you are at Hey Jupiter, you are in Paris. Everything about this place is traditional Parisian brasserie: the zinc bar; the predominantly French-speaking staff, most of whom have been here for years; the huge small-producer French wine list; and the food. The food! Traditional French dishes, perfectly executed. Tonight I ate a steak with pepper sauce, and a chocolate mousse. Boring, yes? But the steak was perfect, as were the fries; the sauce was silky, and peppery without being hot - it was as though I'd never had a good pepper sauce before - and the mousse was much denser than we Australians expect of a mousse, but still with a beautiful texture, and very chocolatey. The only part of the experience that isn't French: the service - efficient and friendly. And if you turn up at 9pm, the kitchen will still have you covered.

I ate here several times last time I was in Adelaide and I loved it. I walked over to eat there again recently. I had a cup from cibo (excellent coffee). I was finished and planning to order coffee and food. I was joining friends. Before I could even sit down, a very rude waitress pointed to the cup and kept repeating "you cannot have that here!" At first I had no idea what she was talking about. She gave. me no chance to sit or join my friends to eat. With so many great places to dine in Adelaide, why would I give my business to such rude people? I will not be returning there again.

Came upon Hey Jupiter by accident. A great find. Lovely crusty bread to start with. We had the barramundi with artichoke sauce, and confit of duck salad, with a side order of fries. Delicious! We tried two wines, one from our waitresses region in France. Great advice on the specials: knowledgeable and personable advice. Beautiful evening to be dining outside. We'll be going back - soon!
Be the first to ReplyIt seems so tiny and yet it packs 'em in.
We sat outside on a pleasant day. Tiny there, too, if one is talking the size of table. But it seemed to work. The service was cheerful and snappy and the passing life in Ebenezer Place was lively, lots of people seeming to know each other. There was a lot of meeting and greeting around the tiny restaurant entrance. Waiters politely dodged the impediments. Our snails came with proper escargot tongs in the most exquisite garlic and herb butter. The toasty French bread was a bit too crisp to soak up the butter but it was just as well. My friend had Croque Monsieur which was rich and wicked, bechamel sauce and cheese and a fried egg on top . He simply wolfed it down. My boned and butterflied trout with green beans took longer to eat and every morsel was a joy. The trout was nicely charcoal-seared on the skin side and very lightly cooked on top. The tastes and textures sang together in a light buttery sauce from the beans which were not too firm but just right. It was best trout I have ever had and I am still purring with pleasure.

Pretty cool place, all day breakfast (not just wraps and croissants like other places on Eberneezer place). Light lunches such as sandwiches and simple dishes. The cuban sandwiches are great as are the fresh squeezed juices and coffees.

Wow!! What an amazing cafe!!!The space is a little small, but once seated it does not feel cramped. Has a slight hipster feel, yet the wait staff were very attentive, not over bearing. The coffee was the best I had in Adelaide (although I only had a few in Adelaide) but the Bloody Mary was the best I've had (excluding the ones I make, obviously). The balancing of flavours was something you'd expect in a high end cocktail bar, not a cafe. Well done guys! I had the baked eggs (they take about 15 min - as the menu states, so if you're in a hurry, try something else). I chose the pancetta instead of the smoked salmon. Again, the balancing of flavours was superb. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars (and this is personal preference) is my eggs were cooked all the way through. I would have loved to stick my fork in and have that running goodness of the yolks filter down throughout the dish. I tried some of my mates cassoulet, and it too was amazing. If this was my local, I'd be there every weekend.
Be the first to ReplyCassoulet was a great way to start the day.
Ham hock, duck confit and pulled pork lovingly baked together and topped with goats curd. Rich and wonderful. My breakfast Bloody Mary was fresh and pungent, one of the best I've had. It was served in a chick carafe with a side glass of ice. Eat the house bread, eat the butter. Fresh and warm, welcoming on a winters morning. Rustic French. C'est baguette!
