Our New go-to for Chinese Take out
We are pretty set in our ways when it comes to Chinese take out orders. We always get deep fried shrimp- theirs is good tasting and a good value + we get vegetarian fried rice(hint: I think what is true to most Chinese restaurants, vegetarian fried rice is generally made fresh, rather than the pork fried rice that has been sitting around for hours and uses yesterdays BBQ pork leftovers). We like to get a vegetable too and found their dried green beans to be very tasty (don't let the "dried" fool you, they are still moist and have great flavor). We usually spend about $30 and always have sufficient leftovers for the next day's lunch or dinner. They do seem to attract the "locals" who play video poker and pool, but we opt for take out.

Place is sketchy and food is awful. Flavorless. No spice. Had to douse it with red pepper and soy sauce.

Excellent service from Lily in the bar! She served me the best potstickers and hot & sour soup I've had since living in San Francisco 30 years ago. I will definitely be returning to Happy Fortune soon with friends and family!!

Thought it totally feels like a drinking bar, but they do offer proper Chinese food. Taste average not sewage for a Chinese like me ; server is friendly.

Not sure why there are only bad reviews on here. This is my wife and my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. The food is always outstanding, the portions are great and the price is good. Give it a try and see for yourself.

Will not return this this restaurant. We were the only one's that at lunch time. The server I think forgot about us and we had to ask for the bill. The big turn off was someone was spraying bug spray inside the restaurant not far from us. Why wouldn't this be done off hours when no customers are eating. The food was average, from the lunch menu you could upgrade for 75 cents for an eggroll instead of 2 crap puffs the eggroll was not worth the 75 cent upgrade it was very small and only had cabbage inside. Very disappointed with the whole experience. Will not return to this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyThe worst I've ever had!
One point for the complementary egg flower soup ~ tasty. Other than that, I was not impressed. Ugh. This was a night that I wanted "comfort food" Chinese food. You know, the unhealthy, deep fried stuff. No tofu, funky veggie combos. I also was lazy and wanted to find a new restaurant that was in my new neighborhood. A go to place... I did not find what I was searching for. The Manfolk and I entered through the bar, not knowing any better. This is a real bar, with pool tables, video poker, etc. They were doing a pretty good business with a decent number of patrons. We made our way to the restaurant (through the double doors on the right). We waited a few minutes before a gentleman brought us menus and H2O. The interior left a lot to be desired. Dark, out dated, a TV from the 90's with college basketball on. Funky and dirty feeling. As I stated, I liked the egg flower soup. I ordered the egg foo young, shrimp and pork with pan fried noodles (extra $). Where to start...fried shrimp. How do you screw that up? The shrimp were small and fried in oil that was probably around in the 90's. The egg foo young had a funky, weird yellow gravy on it. The colors inside of the EFY were not natural. The pan fried noodles were like the ones used in birds nest. The taste of everything was bland and inedible. One of the grossest things I've ever attempted to eat. Hubbs had BBQ pork, shrimp, mar far chicken and fried rice. He liked the pork and chicken. He couldn't eat the shrimp and the rice was crunchy, like it had been made a week ago. I'm thinking the bar is what keeps the doors open here. I guarantee we will never return.
