Gun Barrel Steak and Game House Jackson Reviews from The Last Year
Great traditional western style restaurant!
Fun place with a great western atmosphere nice service and our meals were great! Awesome onion soup, wedge salad and ribeye!! The steaks were perfectly cooked!
Food was pretty good.
Service was decent. Food came out at a reasonable time. Price was really high. I get everything here is expensive but the $56 ribeye should have been better at that price (or really should have been in the $30 range). If money is not an issue and you want to try elk, bison, and venison, this place will do

The ambiance and history is spectacular! The big buffalo in the entrance is a site to see! All the wood decor and animal makes this place so fun! The Bison Prime Rib!!! Just get it! The burger and medallions were full of flavor and big portions! Garlic mash was good! The bread was just okay! The cheesecake was tasty! My friend said shrimp cocktail was good just know it's 4 big pieces! Our server Malvin was attentive and funny!! Great attitude and funny jokes! On point with the jokes for sure! We enjoyed the humor and wit!
Not a fan
Reviews did not reflect our experience. Steaks not cooked to order- inedible after an attempt to cook as requested. Overpriced for average food. Very disappointed.

We try the trio meat with Elk, Bison, and Sirloin steak platter. (Medium rare) The Elk was cooked perfectly and tender. The Bison was a little bit chewy and they over cooked the beef, it was dry and tough. I am surprised that with the amount of meat served every day and they messed up the beef. Service was okay. The server didn't seem to take any action to make us feel better after we told her about our over cooked beef. They could have done a better job on their cooking. I may not be back for another visit. This should be the place to go for a steak in town. But there are other options around Jackson Hole.
Our first time in Jackson and I had done a lot of research
Our first time in Jackson and I had done a lot of research to fine wild game fare for my husband. I don't know why the average is under 4 stars but am so glad that did not deter me. I made day before reservations and I think they are still in slight off season and we got in at 6:45 pm with the restaurant about 3/4 full. Ordered up something called bison carpaccio for an appetizer which I'm not familiar with, but tried it and loved it until my dad told me that it was raw meat lol ewwww but honestly, kinda yum. For my dinner I ordered salmon (no sauce) and mashed potatoes. Hubs ordered mix grill of elk steak, bison prime rib, and venison bratwurst. Side of mushrooms. Our meals were both fantastic. I only tried the venison on my husbands plate but it was very good not gamey at all. My salmon was perfect! Delicious potatoes and the mushrooms too! I had a huckleberry lemonade (my fave drink in the mountain west!) and yum! Bonnie our server, was delightful. She took great care of us. Highly recommend!
Anniversary dinner at Gun Barrel Steak and Game House.
Our server Bonnie did not disappoint! Ordered up a bison carpaccio appetizer which was a great start for what was to come. For my dinner I got the Mixed game grill which included Elk steak, Bison prime rib, and Venison bratwurst. Worth the price! Wifey had the Salmon and that Yelpstars was also tasty. The folks in the kitchen have sharpened their knives and their skills! Five star tasty dinner. Love the decor and the vibe that is captured here. I'd love to return. Great waitstaff, service, and food! I'll be back!
This place was ok.
The drinks were pretty good but meat was so so. I've had better. I was expecting a lot more since I'm out in Wyoming from California but like I said drinks were pretty good. My meat which was rib eye was not soft and my hubby got bison and again not seasoned too good
Delicious!
Dinner was fantastic! Service was spot on. Parking was easy. The Bison Prime rib was incredible. My husband had the Elk filet which was delicious as well.

My party was a group of 10 for a Thursday night dinner when it didn't appear to be very busy. Our group ordered several different appetizers, but the bone marrow was truly the worst. The "marrow" was very tiny gelatinous pieces, which was evidently overcooked given there wasn't enough to fill the few crostinis provided. My colleague who sat next to me ordered the bison prime rib, and I the GB striploin, which were both SEVERELY under cooked and still "mooing" on the plate. We both had to send our orders back, and by the time we received our modified orders (still not palatable), everyone else was done eating. The menu online is also vastly different than the menu at the restaurant itself. I would rate this experience one star if it wasn't for the attentive server. Check out other options as this was basically an overprice Sizzler.
Elk tenderloin and Bison tenderloin were out of this
Elk tenderloin and Bison tenderloin were out of this world!! Also the deep dish apple pie! So glad we found this place!
Super cute atmosphere with fun vibes that fit the area.
Our server was great. Staff were super attentive and friendly. Definitely an interesting menu if you want to try something new. This place is a little pricey, but we all left stuffed!

The food was good and amazing ambiance, but it was very expensive for what you get. The portions weren't very big, and they didn't offer any sort of bread/starter.
I ate here about a month ago.
.. The only reason why I give 4 starts and not 5 is because it's a little expensive but... OMG! Great great food! Portions are not big but enough. You will want more! Staff was "ok" they were busy so I understand they couldn't "focus" on me. The server was nice! He earned his tip! A little loud place, big room and not much privacy but I'll definitely go back when they re-open for the summer season

I have to give this place a 4 star even though I'd like to give it a 3 star. I had to come back 15 minutes to the restaurant after I had already left and paid because they claim they didn't change my card correctly. Whole thing was a big disaster and they treated me like It was my fault. The staff was friendly up until that point. The food was amazing and it was great to try buffalo prime rib for the first time. Ambiance is a fun western theme with animals plastered all around the restaurant. I would recommend this place if you are in Jackson.
Seated quickly.
Appetizers delicious. Very good steak. Service was great Good location and atmosphere. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Jackson.

Wow. I was skeptical at first because I assumed this was a touristy type place, however the food was excellent!. My party tried several items on the menu including the ribeye, the game sampler, and the salmon. All were cooked perfectly to order. We enjoyed several drinks and they were poured well. The wait staff was very attentive, helpful and did a great job. This was a surprisingly excellent experience that I highly recommend.

Reservations are required in advance! Some of the best steaks and dessert I've had. The drinks were pretty tasty too!
Top Notch
Everything is top notch here. Love the look with all the wood and stone work with the trophy animals. Acoustics are great so you there's no problem with noise from other tables. I had the 3 4oz servings of elk, buffalo and beef tenderloin. All were done perfectly. With each round of bites I alternated which was my favorite, but I think I'd have to go buffalo, beef, then elk. Cheesecake was a nice topper. Service was right on the mark, with a check shortly after the meal was served and the server did not bother me until I was done since I did not look up as she went by. Just as it should be.
Iconic restaurant in Jackson Hole.
Food and service very good many wild game offerings. It's a little pricey and very busy during g summer months.
Everything about this restaurant was amazing our servers
Everything about this restaurant was amazing our servers were great the food was great , the only thing that really ruined our dinner were the hostess, we were sitting right above the host stand, and could clearly hear the girls talking bad about our table and the guests we were with. They should really learn worth ethic and respect. I hope management can get ahold of there hostesses and there negative attitude. To be more specific an older women and a blonde younger girl. This made us feel so uncomfortable our whole dinner.
Amazingly delicious steaks, game, and food.
Service is usually very good. They are always very busy, so book ahead. This is our once to twice a year splurge. Very pricey, but as I said; a splurge! Hostesses are not the friendliest (crazy they have the job when they aren't very welcoming, and rarely smile. At least never in twenty years = young girls busy gossiping and checking seating. Love the wild game /western hunter ambiance!
Great restaurant!
We love this restaurant and eat there every time we go to Jackson. The food is great as is the service and the decor is really fun. I strongly recommend!
The food was not good at all.
It was overpriced for the quality. The ambiance and service was good that was about it.
It was OK for me but not outstanding
I got the recommendation for the restaurant from the locals. The restaurant is cosy and decorated in a western style. The restaurant is well frequented. A reservation is definitely required. The price is just OK in a nice tourist location. I was not completely convinced by the food itself. I had bison ribs. It was tender - but the final kick was really missing. I can't describe what exactly was missing. Yes, i would come back. Maybe Steak the next time.
Elk loin seared to perfection!
I came for dinner as it was highly recommended for serving bison and elk. I had the elk loin with huckleberry reduction that was seared to perfection. Great rustic atmosphere and friendly service.
Game Meats Dinner
Wow, the ambience was really authentic mountain western. Huge wood beams, heavy rugs, artwork, a huge stone masonry fireplace we sat next to and just an overall authentic experience. The drinks were great, they have small plastic guns as a stirrer in them. The game meats platter was spectacular, bison, elk and beef. I also has an excellent french onion soup to start. We also had the salmon which was perfect. Service was solid, steady, not rushed.
Great atmosphere, great food, and great service!
Love this place! Such a unique atmosphere alone is with a visit, but the food is always absolutely perfect, and service is great! Compared to prices at other steak houses, (who don’t compare in quality) they’re the best in Jackson Hole in our opinion. It’s the first place we go for dinner when we get into town and the place we go before we leave.
Wonderful Jackson Hole Ambiance
A friend recommended the restaurant and they were spot on. The decor is very nice and interesting. It was just perfect for Jackson. The wait staff were all very good at the job and attentive but not intrusive I had the Bison ribs which was great and my wife had an elk ravioli which was even better. Hope to go back sometime.
Another amazing meal and well worth the price!
We ate here after our time in Grand Tetons National Park. I had made a reservation through Open Table. We arrived a little early before our reservation and only had to wait about 5 minutes. They were able to take us early. We ordered Foccacia bread for the table for $6.00. My husband also ordered a salad, and I had the fried green tomatoes. For our meals, I ordered the Risotto, which had green peas, mushrooms, and mascarpone cheese in it. It was fabulous. My husband and daughter both had steaks, but she opted for garlic mashed potatoes while my husband had asparagus. The food and service was excellent, although I cannot recall our server's name. It is expensive, but we don't mind paying the high price for a good meal. We visited here before in May of 2021. I am so happy to see that they are consistent. We would definitely return if in the area.
Not much flavor and overpriced
We had 3 dinners in Jackson and this was the only disappointment. My wife had filet mignon and it didn't have much flavor. I had a Steakhouse Burger and for $26 you'd think it would be really good, but it was also without much flavor. They topped the burger with a large, uniquely hard-coated onion ring which wasn't good at all. It came with 4 fries, or potato wedges, and they were not bad. We should have followed the locals advice like we did the other 2 nights and gone elsewhere. This didn't seem like a place the locals eat.
So so
We ate dinner here on our way to Idaho Falls. We called and made a reservation. They were busy and it took a bit for our server to get to us. I asked if they offered bread while we waited for our food and was told for a charge of $6. I had Caesar salad with grilled chicken (that was very dry) and my husband had the bison prime rib and he said it was ok but also dry. Not worth the $100+ for two meals. There was also a guy at a table nearby that was SUPER LOUD and biligerant that killed the atmosphere

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
