Great Wolf Lodge Water Park | Mason Reviews from The Last Year
Great lodging but waterpark and activities=poor value
After I say a few negative things I will tell you about the lodging. The waterpark closes at 8. The outdoor pool and toddler area of the water park close at 7. Why? Other hotels can keep their pools open until 9, 10 or even 11:00. Not unrelated, the activities that have an extra cost stay open until 10, such as the arcade and bowling. As if it isn’t expensive enough to stay here and use the water park, they lower the value by closing so early to encourage additional spending. The bottom of the slides is clear of the previous rider for a full minute before they send the next person down. I timed this while I was in line. This equals less value too because it means time for fewer rides (remember how early they close the slides). The rooms are clean and so cute. We stayed in a 2-floor loft fireplace suite and a kid cabin. Bath were wonderful. I would suggest a drying rack or more hooks for swimsuits to dry. Check-in is too slow and kiosks weren’t working when we were there. Why does it take so long to check in? We’ve prepaid after all. Just give us the wristbands, swipe our card for incidentals, and let us be on our way. Remember how early you shut down the pools after all! In summation, management at the lodge seems interested in adding value. Water park management seems to want to take value away and give fewer rides on the slides and close early.
Still Fun But Way too Much Squeezing for Dollars by New Ownership
I have taken the family there going back almost 15 years. It was never cheap, but you didn’t feel constantly squeezed for money like they do you now. First, add $55 to the quoted room rate because that is the new “resort” fee plus parking. You get absolutely nothing more than before just charged $55 a day. Second, during the nightly dance party they trot out glowing plastic junk to sell to super exhausted kids. Can’t we enjoy an “included” activity without being sold junk (or having to drop hard no’s on your kids while on a trip. Thanks a lot. Third, twenty seconds to pour your soda after scanning a QR code, thanks man. Put a mini sized build a bear right beside the water park entrance to again cause kid melt downs. Last though they now have predatory time share sales people masquerading as welcome employees. The place is owned by Blackstone now. Big surprise they are squeezing everyone.
Kid paradise family friendly, a little tired.
Great place for kids. Right next door to Kings Island. We were joined by relatives with multiple children ages 1-13. The kids had a great time in the water park. Our adult son enjoyed going to Kings Island, and the 12 minute walk to enter. The lodge is a bit dated and could use some fresh flooring and paint. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They clearly put a high priority on kid safety in the water park. We only ate at the breakfast buffet, which was good. There are plenty of off site restaurants within a short drive. Definitely a kid/family place to stay
Mason vs Sandusky the deets ...
Mason vs Sandusky location..... I've stayed at Sandusky a handful of times and since their bucket is broken we decided to go try out the Mason location. Mason is bigger, much more cleaner, pleasant all around from the front desk, the lifeguards, the stores and activities. I would honestly say Sandusky is busier, only because I think bc it's smaller it appears to be busier. Mason is busy but people are spread out and there was plenty of seating I can attest from 10 am to 4pm. We did have a Cabana because of the reviews and posts about the lack of seating and things, however if we come back we won't do that again. It was nice to have a space to go to that was private and quiet(ER), but we didn't use it as much as I thought we would. I will say if you have families with tiny babies or toddlers that nap, I saw that happening in the cabanas today and made for a nice place for them to do that. We got the splash fun package, and knowing the prices of things I would say it's a good deal. It cost $3 a water, and $16 for a lunch combo meal (chicken,ff,drink) so when you add that up vs the price of the package it's a good deal. You also get some pretty cool towels you get to keep, and decent cooler with their logo, ours is pink. We stayed on the 3rd floor in the grizzly Bear suite and it's phenomenal!! Zero bugs or signs of any bugs seen. Linens are white white with no stains or rips, the bathrooms are clean even the corners of the rooms where you sometimes see crud, tubs and showers were clean. This suite has two bathrooms and two bedrooms, living room area with a fireplace, balcony, a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave and Keurig like machine. I normally cannot afford this type of room but watch for codes and discounts and it makes it affordable! Meals, we packed our breakfast and having a microwave was perfect. Lunch we had the free lunch with the package, we had 2 dinners and those we ended up just doing the pizza both times bc it's actually very very good. Pricey, yes, but you at least don't feel like you wasted your money. The water park, hot tip, there are TWO hot tubs, you'll see the main one and the kids are allowed in it and feels like warm bath water and super busy. BUT there is another one behind it, you'll see stairs and take those and it's a 21 and over only hot tub and I was ALONE because it's like a hidden treasure and the warmth is warmer like a normal hot tub 🔥 it was awesome! Hope this helps someone out there...
Just say no more
What used to be a great destination has lost its thrill. Ridiculous $15 a day parking fee on top of paying nightly fee and resort fees! Touchscreens everywhere, no interaction with actual workers. They have raised the prices for food and drinks to be over the top. So sad the changes that they have made. This will no longer be our go to.
Bad Experience
The sofa bed was broken and staff gave us directions on how to prop it up with cushions! Wouldn't take cash anywhere at the lodge! Never return again!!! Rude people ubove us stomping and jumping off their beds at 11:00pm. We couldn't get our toddlers to sleep!! Called the front desk and the stomping and jumping continued into the night!!!
Sad visit...
I am shocked at how much this place has gone down hill since the last time we were here. It used to be our favorite. They have remodeled the inside and outside and it's lost its cozy cabin atmosphere. Many of the walls are now just drywall and not decorated and do not have the log cabin look. Everything is automated and done by kiosk and not people. You no longer get free wolf ears. You now have to pay $15 a day to park even when you are an overnight guest. It is not near as clean. I have taken 2 meals back due to them being so cold I was afraid it was going to cause a food borne illness. The rooms are damp and the carpet is sticky. I think someone may have smoked in our room prior to our arrival and they tried to cover the smell. The Waterpark has dirt in water floating around. The food areas are not being kept clean and there are people cooking the food with food safety gloves but handling their phones in the gloves and then serving food without putting on new ones. All of this, and the prices have gone up. This used to be our place. We won't be back unless we can't pass up a very cheap deal.
Dirty, Old, and Smells
The entire building is dusty, dirty, and smells. Everything looks and smells old and needs updated and feels gross. Even the elevators are dirty and stained. Kids enjoyed the water park, so grateful for that. Would never visit this location again at $300 a night for a room that smells and has sticky carpet.
Mason location charges $15 a day parking.
Handicap parking also. Even when you booked before this policy went into effect and did not agree to these terms in your booking. Even when the lodge tells you they will waive it they will still fraudulently charge your card and refuse to refund it. They don't do what they say they will do and don't actually care about their customers. It's all about money. We will not be returning because of this. A $15 parking fee is a weird hill for them to die on but it's killed it for our family.
Where do I begin.
... First let me start off by saying check in was easy, we stayed a total of three days. When we received our room my wife and I brought the kids in to the room to change to get just a few hours left before it closed. We had a decent time at the water park but the kids however, did have fun. After the water park we ordered pizza so we didn't have to leave again, the prices were somewhat on the steep side but the pizza was actually good. We brought the pizza back to our room to eat. While eating my kids noticed toenail clippings on the floor. As much as I found it disgusting I just grabbed some toilet paper and got most of them up off of the rug. After eating we were going to get baths and showers but in order to take a shower we had to clean out the tub due to lots of hair on the wall and laying in the tub. We cleaned the tub not a bid deal and moved on. While washing my youngest child off in the bath a centipede ran next to me while I was kneeling on the floor, I of course killed it and decided to mention it to the front desk (I had pictures to show). They did try and remedy the situation by crediting a little bit of money back to my card and gave us free breakfast, they also assured me that the following day they would send someone in to clean the room. The second day, we spent most of the day at the waterpark and when we came back we noticed no one entered our room to clean. Nothing really worth mentioning the second day besides the infestation of gnats by the front door. The third day we decided we didn't want to stay and swim and just get home. After we got home I had to visit the doctors due to staph infection in multiple areas. The doctor mentioned that if you are someone who gets sweat bumps from wearing pants they create open wounds and can be infected by dirty environments. I showered prior to entering the waterpark and when exiting like it mentioned when walking in but clearly it didn't work.
Would never go back
This place was just not clean. When we checked in they gave us keys to another family’s room. Rooms were very dirty and it really didn’t seem they had been cleaned in a while. The kids had fun with the water park but I was grossed out the entire time. The whole place gave me wet bandaid vibes.
This place yes is geared towards children.
Also yes they may need some updates but honestly I understand the pairing being $15 which was a huge thing I saw people complain about. Being as close as they are to kings island they don't want people parking for free and walking. Could they do it a better way for guests.....yes. We stayed for a night and didn't have any issues. It was a nice getaway.
Great wolf license to steal
While the rooms were fine the way they add fees is possibly illegal. Failure to disclose all the fees in an easy to find place would make it possible to void them. They should simply raise the price since there is no way to avoid any of them. If you take a towel from pool area to your room they charge as a lost towel fee. It’s not lost and we will challenge the charge with Amex. Prefer to never see this place again
The front desk was a great help.
Came from New York made it simple to get to my room and everything. Then I went to my room. Had an awful smell of cat pee. There were bed bugs in my bed. So i took my kids and my wife to the water park. It was fine. Then we ordered at buckets. My fries were limp and no seasonings. my burger was raw. I talked to one of cooks named Ashley I believe she said she'd make me a new one and it came back over cooked. Don't even get me started on how they do the drinks. I had to get 6 new stickers for my souvenir cup which costed 20$ which is out ridiculous. Would not come back here if I was paid too.
Very nice water park. Clean and great staff members.
We visited with our 6 year old grandson in March of 2024, spending 2 nights. Our room was clean and comfortable. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly. The water park is very nice, clean. Our only negative experience was buying lunch at one of the food spots inside the water park. The life guards are very attentive. The cheeseburgers were simply not good, not hot, buns dried out, fries cold... and really overpriced. We would recommend this water park to anyone.
This was an ups and downs experience.
The kids (9,6&4) had a fantastic time. The adults could see that the facility was aging, the mysterious and bogus fees kept piling up, the food was over-priced & below-average, the service was spotty, the kid's activities were OK, the water park was quite safe (lifeguards do a great job) and the building was mostly clean (except for disgusting hallway carpets). AVOID the Lodge Restaurant in the facility. Our expensive meal there was below average and our servers were confused about everything. There is a new parking "fee" that the front desk staff could not explain. They won't tow or ticket your car...just don't pay it.
Somewhat disappointed
His was our first time at GWL. Check-in at the kiosk was difficult. We ended up checking in at the front desk and our room was ready 4 hours early, which was great. Our room was very nice and clean and just like the website. We thought we got a balcony room, but we did not and the view was of part of the building, so that was a bummer. The water park was fun, but we did not like the layout at all. It was hard to find our kids when they went to play. This hotel/waterpark is more for little kids. We didn't see very many teenagers. We at at the buffet for dinner on our first night and we're sticker shocked with the bill. It was $180 for two adults and three 14 year Olds (which are charged as adults if over the age of 11, which is ridiculous). $30/person basically. There should be a tier system on price. The arcade was nice but more expensive than Dave and Buster's. The prizes were cheaply made. Bowling was fun. Parking should be included ($15/day). Overall, we had an okay time. I'm not sure we will be back.

I got a deal on a room, and my daughter had a blast at the lodge. Sign up for the emails to check out deals. As an adult, I went for her and thought it was a little gross... because most kids are gross. - get the app before you come and try to do paperwork before so that you have the QR code and can skip the line - there is a fridge and microwave in the room. Bring snacks/drinks. The food is a bit costly and not good - bring towels or a cover up. You can rent towels there, but you have to return when you leave the water park. So you might want to bring your own so that kiddos don't freeze on the way back to the room. - aside from water park. There is a magic quest, mini golf, bowling, build a bear, arcade, and activities in the main room. The dance parties are fun, if you have bubble wands at home, bring them. Or you can buy them for $30 there It's cashless, you can link your credit card with the band that you use to get in the park and get in your room. But you need a credit card for the arcade downstairs. Try to go on a weekday, and early. We got there At 10:30 on Friday (park opens at 10) and the only free chairs available were the ones right up against the wave pool. It's $15 to park, and about $74 in resort fees and taxes.
Last visit
We have visited this property with our kids 1-2 times a year since it opened in 2006 visited 3 times recently with grandson this will be our last all visits have not been great but consistently ok till now we stayed In a family suite March 3-4 we experienced dirty room, rude staff, and now the last straw they started charging for parking there are much better options within the same drive for us you have lost this packs business
Watch out for hidden fees on that great advertised rate.
The most recent is adding $15 per day parking on top of the hotel and resort fees to the base price. Otherwise had a good time. Very crowded even on a weekday but you can't fault them for having good business. Only negative related to that is it doesn't seem like they are prepared with check in counter and food areas overrun (at least during peak time).
We got an amazing deal for one night at great Wolf Lodge
We got an amazing deal for one night at great Wolf Lodge and were so excited to go . The check-in process went smoothly, and the people at the front desk were very informative as to the activities of the day. The adults receive a wristband which is connected to your credit card, so you do not need to carry your wallet around which is nice. It is a cashless facility. Bowling and mini golf were seven dollars per player which is pretty reasonable. There are about five restaurants on site, including a Dunkin' Donuts. The breakfast buffet had decent food, and I was happy to see an omelette station. It's nice, because there are activities happening almost every hour or every other hour for the children. My girls favorite is the dance parties, which is like a kiddie rave. All in all the hotel could use some updating as it appears to be fairly old and outdated, but we had an enjoyable stay. Well aside from the family upstairs that were having a stomp party at 11 PM and again at 6 AM. Without the discount, I'm not sure if I would come back to this location because paying full price is quite costly for what you get without it being an updated facility. Also, do not bring any type of floatable rings or pool toys because they do not allow it.
they were the most accommodating hotel I had ever been to
they were the most accommodating hotel I had ever been to their coffee is absolutely amazing and worth the stay alone my husband travels a lot for woron and I travel with him. They wereveryaccommodating to me having to stay an extra hour to wait for husband to arrive. They have the ultimate breakfast on their breakfast buffet. They are the nicest set of peoplle i have have met in a very long time. These people really made my day very special. Not to mention these people made the best cup of coffee I have ever had really ever had in my entire life.
We love going to Great Wolf Lodge Mason.
We go 4 times a year! But honestly with the 14.99 parking on top we might have to reconsider. We usually go for 3 nights. So thats an extra 45 dollars on top of what we are already spending on the room and all the extras that we do. Definitely upsetting because we love going! But its silly to have to pay for parking when they charge enough in the extra fees anyway.
Great Place, but Lazy River could use a slight change!
Our family of all ages had lots of fun. The rooms and common areas were clean and the employees were friendly. The only reason I took off one star is because the lazy river has one area where you cannot pass without water being dumped on your head/face. I saw many children stopping at that point because they didn't want to go through. If some of the water dumping cones above were removed on just one side, it would allow guests to pass without getting water dumped on them. Those who want to get wet can pass on the other side. It would be a win-win situation for everyone!
Lots of fun, rude employees, broken toaster, and no refund given.
I went to the Great Wolf Lodge in Mason OH with my family 1/8/24-1/10/24. I had a great experience all though you should know that the employees are rude. I only encountered two nice employees. One at the buffet restaurant and one when I was leaving helped me carry a bag down. The reason for the bad review is two reasons 1) rude employees who work at a family establishment and should be working somewhere where kids aren’t at. 2) I bring my toaster on all our vacations. I just bought a new toaster in September for $45. I forgot it at the hotel. I filed a report for lost and found. They found it and told me it would cost $30 for them to send it to me. $30 is extreme for them to send me my toaster through the mail, obviously they are making money for the shipping but hey I’d save $15 from buying a new one, right? Well I paid it came two days later. The box looked pack before I opened it. Once I opened it and it sprung up and that is were I discovered my lovely toaster was put in a box too small for it, nothing around it, beat up, and broken. I called them which took 45 minutes for them to answer by the way since you have to go through all the annoying robot bull crap that has nothing to do with why you call so they hang up on you 20 times. The lost and found manger person told me that “it was broken when they boxed it.” I said “it wasn’t I sent you a photo of what it looked like the day I left.” I should have also said “why would I pay $30 for a broke. Toaster?” He told me they would refund me $30. Well it has been 5 days so where is my $30? How about I get $75 instead, since you broke my toaster and I’m now out $75! Please just refund me money for shipping and toaster cost so I can buy a new one. Picture of my toaster the day I left (not great quality since it was taken for a video) & photos of the toaster I received.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
