Best French Toast I've Ever Had
The best french toast I've ever had. We got Great Maple French Toast Logs and California Chorizo and split them before the two of us. The french toast was perfect and it paired nicely with the chorizo. This is a brunch place you can not miss in San Diego.
Be the first to ReplyYummy food but so hard to find parking
Great restaurant with delicious food and a nice variety. They take reservations which is necessary on a weekend for sure but also be prepared to drive all over the place for parking especially when the farmers market is open. Our group shared some beignets with powder sugar and lemon curd which were yummy for sure. The smoked salmon toast and hillcrest toast with egg whites were a hit. The blueberry crumb pancakes and vegan hash are also highly recommended. Lastly, the French dip with crispy onions was the bomb! Everyone at our table loved the food and outstanding service. 2 people had the espresso martini but asked for it hot and raved about it. I will go back and highly recommend it, just be patient with the parking situation and allow extra time to find a spot!

Be the first to ReplyWonderful breakfast
We went here today for the first time. Went for breakfast at lunch time. They take reservations (Yeah!) and have nice indoor and outdoor seating with a small parking lot, maybe 10 spots. Plenty of street parking around. Sat at a great booth. Service was just OK, but the food came fast and was amazing. The short rib hash was great. The donuts looked amazing. Very happy overall.

The food and margaritas are delicious and the service is great. There is a long line but it is definitely worth it.
Be the first to ReplyFun place with delicious food
Get the maple bacon donuts! It is a must and absolutely delicious!! Big portions and excellent food! Would eat here again!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, service could be better
The food was good, very good. I went on a Friday to have the prime rib. The flavor was excellent. I also enjoyed the fresh vegetables. Make sure to get the popovers - the only ones I've enjoyed more have been in Maine. The service was lacking. Our water glasses were empty a couple of times and the server did not bus the table as our meal progressed. I would recommend but I hope they improve the service.
Be the first to ReplyDo you want to try one of the worlds largest French Toasts? Yes. This is my experience.
Great Maple welcomes you with a cozy, warm and maple breeze smell that just makes you feel in the right place. To start with I ordered a Lavender Lemonade which was too sweet and tasted like it had store bought lemonade. The Hot Chocolate was made with Ghirardelli’s chocolate which wasn’t too rich but was just right. The English Pot Pie which was recommended by a lovely waiter was excellent, the gravy it had was great and overall great taste and a great serving. Great Maple is a place where you get more quantity than you would ever think, great for the price. The French Toast logs are the holy grail of this restaurant. These things are absurdly huge but if you’re gonna share with minimum 3 people then y’all are gonna have fun with it. It’s really good, not amazing in my opinion. I’m more of a moist type of guy, this was a more buttermilk bread, little more firm than usual type toast, great tho, defiantly order it. Also order the maple bacon donuts that I didn’t order but everybody seemed to order. Make sure to not eat for like a day because portions are huge. Great place. Great environment. Smells like success and happy bellies. Reservation is needed.
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot for brunch and mimosas!
My only reason for rating 5 stars is that they are missing some variety for vegans. Other than that the Mimosa Flight was to die for and the avocado toast was delicious. I am extremely jealous of some of the foods my friends ate as well because they all looked delicious! Definitely grab a reservation if you are coming for brunch on the weekend. They were able to seat us right away with one, but there looked to be a line outside for those that hadn't. I left my phone at the table and they were SO quick to give us a call and get it back to me! So thankful!

While in San Diego, me and family went here to eat and it was worth it. Out shopping and decided to eat lunch, i had the fried chicken sandwich, great service and large portions.
Be the first to ReplyA MUST VISIT WHILE IN SAN DIEGO!
We found this restaurant just by googling "great breakfast", AND THAT IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT! Comfy is the word I would choose. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, the hosts were accommodating, and not very busy for a Monday morning. A MUST VISIT!
Be the first to ReplyIf you are looking for a BIG breakfast...
We visited great maple on a Tuesday morning and were seated immediately. We immediately ordered Maple Bacon Doughnuts. Sweet, sticky and lots of bacon. Oh, and huge...we all agreed that this could be breakfast by itself. The table ordered California chorizo scramble, Traditional pancakes and cerrillos chilaquiles. The pancakes were big but fluffy and not particularly heavy considering the are pancakes. The scramble had tons of chorizo, peppers and vegetables including potatoes. The chilaquiles were piled high with tortillas, chorizo vegetables and eggs...delicious. We took much food home. All were delicious and enough food to split. Pricy, be prepared.

Creative menu with a very tasty cocktail menu! Parking is pretty bad though and the place is super packed on the weekends
Be the first to ReplyLiked this place so much, went back twice during vacation
Really liked this place. Had great coffee drinks and breakfast. Had their quiche of the day first time and was REALLY good. Second time had their omelette which was very tasty as well. Saw the donuts which was a big plate. Maybe not the biggest plates of food for the price but the quality was great and service was quick and friendly
Be the first to ReplyDog Friendly + Yummy Food & Good Vibes
I loved this place for brunch! It has great vibes, music, vendors outside serving things and yummy food! I brought my cockapoo who was welcomed with open arms and provided with water as we humans ate. I’ll definitely be returning next time I’m in San Diego!
Be the first to ReplyIt's Okey
Nice and specious restaurant located in a residential area, serves breakfast, brunch and more. A range of selections for breakfast, good food, excellent service, mid price. Recommended
Be the first to ReplyGreat breakfast!
Great Maple was just what we needed! The food was really good and the service was fast and friendly. Great coffee, too! We had potato pancakes with bacon and chilaquiles. Lots of food that hit the spot. Deeeeeeeelicious!!!

8:30AM, Sunday. No wait time. Got seated inside right after a table was cleared. Food is delicious! Trying to be good [healthy], but if you wanted to be bad, there is plenty to savor, including crazy donuts and huge maple bacon concoctions. Server was very friendly and funny! Have to commend the managers for dealing respectfully and calmly with an upset customer who, from eavesdropping in, was just complaining loudly and incessantly with really no valid reason. Would definitely go here again.

The good the below average and the ugly here.
I gave 4 stars, so the good obviously outweighs the downsides. I had a bacon cheese skillet. It was awesome. Potatoes were delicious too. Wife had pancakes with a carmelized banana and peanut butter. Really good too. Kids had the French toast logs and regular buttermilk pancakes plus a side of bacon. Portions are huge. Two growing teenage boys couldn’t finish their food. I got about 60% thru mine as did my wife. Coffee was hot and good.
Our server was Joe. He was great as well. Warned us that the portions were very large, but we all wanted something different so we just went ahead and ordered our own breakfasts.
The below average: maybe not fair to call it this, but we had to wait almost an hour (was told about a 40 minute wait). I know it is probably out of their hands, but to be off by 50% is kind of annoying.
The ugly. Come on man. Between 50 and 60 tables. Full most days. And a total of 2 restroom stalls. Had to wait almost as long to go to the restroom as I did waiting for a table. OK, not really, but to only have 1 toilet for the men and 1 toilet for the women with 200 patrons is cruel and unusual punishment.
All in all though, everyone was awesome and friendly. The food was really good. I guess for Southern California, the prices were pretty much what i expected. We paid $110 for the food plus a $30 tip for Joe. 4 entrees, one extra side of bacon, 1 coffee, 1 mimosa, and 2 soft drinks (don’t judge me, we are on vacation!). If we have a chance, we will return.
Phenomenal. Good times. Delicious.
Wait time was about 20 minutes. We sat outside which had tents and was actually pretty nice.
Atilie was simply one of the best servers we’ve ever had. Fun, delightful, efficient amd more.
The food was stellar. French toast logs and the brisket popover were both all-star level good.
It is not the least expensive place you can eat. That said, it’s worth every nickel.
Great Breakfasts and Maple Donuts
My wife and I ate breakfast at GM on August 30th. I had the regular 2 egg ranch breakfast and it was excellent. My wife had the quiche of the day and she said that it was delicious, We topped it off with the maple donuts--always delicious. Service was very good but GM needs to refresh their decor. A solid 4+ star restaurant; we will return.
Be the first to ReplyNot sure how you improve on this place for breakfast.
First, the coffee was very good. The food choices were good and prepared with a bit of creativity. The drinks, like the Bloody Mary, were spot on. My family and I also enjoyed the deserts.
The indoor / outdoor seating was appropriate for this time of Covid. I like everything about this restaurant. Looking forward to my next visit.
Breakfast bloody marys
Great breakfast spot to check out. They have amazing blood Mary’s and Mimosa options. Outdoor/Indoor seating. Great friendly start as well:)
Be the first to ReplyA great brunch at Great Maple
The food at Great Maple- Hillcrest was amazing! Wait was 1:15 which is tough, but a known situation that you must be ready for. Portobello fries were awesome! Chilaquiles and beef brisket hash were unreal while being more than enough for 1 person. Doughnuts to go since we were so full. Lots of space outside, you want to stop here!
Be the first to ReplyTake out only:Covid - superb food. Don’t miss this gem.
Take out only - superb food. We had the prime rib with whipped potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Ten minute ride home.
Faaaaantaatic! Prime rib was a perfect medium rare with a great crust. The Brussels were cooked well with a great crunch. The potatoes were a perfect compliment.
Jus and horseradish were also very Good.
It’s important to support the local eateries right now and the Great Maple did an excellent job. Can’t wait for them to reopen for dining.
