Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen at The Wharf Washington Reviews from The Last Year
My recent visit to Hell's Kitchen on Sunday, July 21st with
My recent visit to Hell's Kitchen on Sunday, July 21st with my partner for our anniversary was unfortunately marred by a significant service issue that left a sour taste in my mouth. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were immediately impressed by the ambiance and eagerly anticipated enjoying a meal in such a renowned establishment. The initial service was polite and prompt as we placed our orders. However, things took a turn when our food was mistakenly delivered to another table. What struck me the most was not just the mistake itself, but the way it was handled--or rather, mishandled. Instead of promptly realizing the error and correcting it discreetly, I watched as our server (Devin) and manager (Harrison) approached the wrong table, discussed the mix-up in plain sight, and ultimately let them continue to eat the dishes that were not theirs. Throughout this entire ordeal, neither the server nor the manager approached our table to inform us of the situation or offer an apology. It almost seemed like they had no intention of telling us about the mistake until I mentioned it to our server. As a customer, it was incredibly disheartening to witness our food being brought to the wrong table and then see the staff discussing it with another party without addressing us directly. This lack of communication and transparency only exacerbated the frustration caused by the initial mistake. In conclusion, while the food at Hell's Kitchen was commendable, the subpar service and lack of professionalism in handling mistakes left much to be desired. I hope that the management takes steps to improve their communication and customer service protocols to ensure that all guests are treated with the respect and attention they deserve. Also I got the general manager's business card and was told by our server to reach out to express how this experience made us feel and to tell her everything that happened. I emailed her the next day and still haven't heard back. I get that people get busy and things come up but you should want to hear what your customers have to say and want to resolve any issues.

Deliciousness - 2/5 Happiness - 4/5 Despite a gorgeous building, friendly wait staff, and awesome location, the food (and particularly the quality to cost ratio) leaves too much lacking. I've never spent so much to feel so little satiated as I did at Hell's Kitchen. We went for my brother's birthday as he's a big fan of Ramsay's TV shows. The restaurant is both in an awesome location and impeccably designed, with a video wall showing Ramsay and decorated to look like you're on set. The wait staff was very professional. But the food left much to be desired. Nothing was outright bad, but nothing stood out either. Most of the dishes were just bland, lacking heat, salt, spice, or anything of note. Three of my party got the vaunted steak wellington and all said it wasn't overly memorable (and one of them didn't even finish the dish). I splurged on some foie gras and even that left me a little unimpressed (which is almost impossible with something as delicious as that)! This was the general consensus of our entire party (7 people). By far people enjoyed their appetizers over the entrees. This wouldn't have been such a big deal except for the fact that this restaurant was extremely expensive. The drinks were fun and delicious, but also sold at an extreme premium. And also, the portions are ridiculously small. They gave my brother the smallest sized piece of cake I've ever seen for a birthday, and it was essentially half the size of the full-sized cake (I know because someone else at the table ordered the same cake off the menu). For the price I paid, I could have gone to one of the high-end chef's menu tastings. So to walk away feeling unenthused after spending many hundreds of dollars is not the way you want to feel at the end of the night. In sum, the experience is not worth it. Perhaps this is best served as a place to grab a pricey drink and appetizer (in a gorgeous setting) before venturing elsewhere for the main course.
Absolutely wonderful from start to finish.
Thank you to Nico August and David for the amazing level of service. They truly made our anniversary a night to remember.

I am the founder of a large women's group who dined at Hell's Kitchen on 7/13 with a group of 25 women. First off, when we arrived, the temperature in the lobby was exceptionally warm and uncomfortable as we waited to be seated. As we proceeded upstairs, I was impressed by the view and layout of the restaurant. However, much to my surprise, we were seated at 2 large tables. Our party made online reservations in groups of 6 and never asked to be seated together but the manager decided to group us together. After our members were seated at 2 separate large tables, one table was provided wonderful service and attention. However, the other table was a disaster! The 2nd table had not received their food until 2 hours after they had been seated! Many of them left and a few stayed and ate, only because they were too hungry to leave. In fact, the 1st table had finished dining and paid the bill. I specifically talked to the manager and head manager on duty and requested that the restaurant comp the 2nd table for their meal and delay in service. Both of them refused to do so. Again, totally unacceptable because the manager stated "this is why we don't do large groups", which the decision to separate us into 2 groups was not ours, it was solely made by the restaurant when we arrived. As a previous member mentioned in her review, our group dines out monthly throughout the DMV but the poor service the 2nd table received was totally unacceptable, without any accountability held by the restaurant. Needless to say, we will not be returning and many of our members stated the food wasn't that great in addition to the poor service they received.

Overpriced and uninspiring, I came here and was, at first, impressed by how nice the restaurant looked, but throughout the service, became increasingly disenchanted. First came here and was put on a waiting list and was thoroughly confused since it looked like there were plenty of tables upstairs. It wasn't a big issue since I waited about 5 minutes to get a table. Ordered the petite beef Wellington, idiot sandwich, hells kitchen pizza and English toffee, and waited over half an hour for the food to come out which seemed like a long time, but was comped a free dessert for the long wait, a nice thank you for a wait I guess but still didn't make up for it's short comings. The petite beef Wellington was smaller than I expected, they used to give you a whole portion, but it looks like they only give you half of what they originally used to serve and for around 45 dollars, this item definitely feels like a scam. The dish itself was just okay, the beef was tender, pastry was nice and flaky, but ultimately it was boring and bland and just tasted like sirloin with mashed potatoes. The idiot sandwich didn't pop out at all either, I couldn't taste the gruyere and the beef was tough to chew on and didn't contain much of any flavor either, was disappointed since it looked like it would have been a dish bursting with umami. The hk pizza was the best thing here, but ultimately it didn't taste like anything above what I've tasted before. Toffee pudding was good, but again just wasn't amazing, so doesn't really justify its cost. This place ultimately is overpriced and average

The service was absolutely exceptional! We visited for lunch on a Saturday and were immediately charmed by the restaurant's scenic location. The cleanliness and outstanding service made for a memorable experience. The staff was incredibly prompt, ensuring our water glasses were always full, and we were even treated to a complimentary drink. The food presentation was exquisite, and every dish we tried--Salmon, Burgers, and the Rib Sandwich--was delicious. The seats were comfortable, and the interior decor perfectly captured the ambiance of the high-quality show. We will definitely be returning!
Let me start by saying the customer service was very good.
The venue is beautiful and modern. Now the issue was the food quality I feel it did not live up to the reviews or celebrity Ramsey's name. A few of our dishes were just so disappointing. The chicken was dry and hard, the lobster tail was overcooked and chewy, the octopus was just soooo burned. I feel like the scallops were cut down thin. We ordered almost 1 of everything on the menu. Now the desserts were very good. For cost to send out burned and over cooked food is unacceptable. I know the chef saw this and to send it out anyways to see if the customer would send it back, to put a customer in a position to complain leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They did remake the items we were unhappy with and one of our dessert dish was free. I just don't see us coming back here.
The food that my wife and I ordered just wasn't that good.
The price was choice but the dishes weren't.
Food was delicious.
Presentation was fabulous. Menu was simple, too simple. If I remember correctly there are only 4-5 main entrees to xhoose from. There were 3 of us so we tried 3 of them. It is a high end restaurant. Staff was ok however. Didn't feel the vibe with the staff. Thus less 1 star.
Server was pleasant and lunch tasted good however the speed
Server was pleasant and lunch tasted good however the speed was awful.....not sure if Gordon Ramsey was flying my burger in from England but it took forever as we watched tables seated after us get served. Over an hour for a burger! Burger was good but should have been wow for the speed and the price. A fast food burger joint is a better option.
Amazing happy hour and East Coast oyster destination
The happy hour options are great. I tried all the East Coast oysters on the menu, along with the fried pickles and a glass of bubbles. Staff is super friendly, place is packed, and easy to access on the Wharf. I can't wait to go back!
Tourist trap
New to DC and needed to try it since there are a few of them. Glad it was only lunch and need never return. Sat at the bar as there was a wait, and the two woman at the bar didn't even look at us and never actually greeted us. Finally a nice male bartender greeted us and took our order. The menu is not great, not much if any local seafood with the exception of oysters at $3.50 per. Husband had Caesar salad with white anchovies and it was very small with boxed croutons and bottled dressing. I opted for the ceviche which was a half cup of overly salted tiny farmed shrimp with a scallop and a couple of calamari rings served with tortilla chips. That and 2 club soda's $50. There are FAR better choices regardless of location.
Yummmylicious
The food was exceptional. The servers were friendly. Hardly no wait time. We also had a drink which was clockwork orange. That's was amazing.
Great food, great location
We had a great meal here on a sunny Wednesday evening in May. The food was great and the service was good. A pleasant evening with lovely company - what more could you want?
Skip Hank’s!
The service was not good. It took aver 20 minutes to get our bar drinks. Another server ended up bringing them to us after we asked. After ordering our food it took another 30-40 minutes to receive our food. Meanwhile, tables around us got their drinks, appetizers, and food.
Black, rude, racists hostess at the location hanks oyster bar 701 wharf St. SW Washington DC, District of Columbia
Made reservations 2 weeks ago for Mother's Day, schedule for Saturday 12:00pm we arrived at hanks oyster bar at 12:15pm. Walked up to the hostess told her we had reservations for 12:00pm, as the Caucasian couple was being escorted off, a large, tall black hostess with a ponytail on top of her head an employee, rudely said to me you bust in front of the couple a course they were white. I was shocked to say the least and she continue to be rude as the couple was being escorted off to be seated. I simply ignore this rude racist hostess. So then, we were seated but I couldn't shake the feeling of her rudeness and poor customer service skills trying to impress the white couple she lied I didn't bust in front of anyone. I quickly made a decision to leave I was so disappointed; I have been eating and enjoying celebrating at hanks Oyster bar for years and I miss the capitol hill location, it was shut down after covid-19. I Used to order take-out on a regular basic there. So, because of my recent experience I will never as long as I live, spend another dime at Hanks Oyster bar... FYI I shared this awful experience with friends and colleagues and on my social platform, beware of the racist's black hostess at '701 Wharf St, SW Washington D.C. Location
Happy Hour is the BEst
My daughter works in DC and has a Hanks around the corner. We always start the night out with two dozen happy hour oysters (half price) then on to a little walk and dinner. Each of the Hanks has its own character, well characters behind the bar. They do a good of hiring and sitting at the bar, with a glass of white wine and a dozen oysters is a great way to start the evening.
Now that was quite enjoyable!
Now that was quite enjoyable, as we had a wonderful server named Brandon who entertained us before, during, and after we ate. My husband said his fried oysters were right up there with the “best oysters he ever had” and I had wonderful shrimp tacos. With so many restaurants, we were glad we chose Hank’s!
Oysters like none since New Orleans
Three of us sat down in late afternoon and spent a couple hours eating and drinking. I had punch of the day; one of us had Holy Spritz That's Good, and the third person had a beer. All were excellent. We had char broiled oysters---as good as we've had in New Orleans, and steamed mussels, followed by oyster po'boy and crab cake sandwich. Everything was wonderful. The service was great, LGBTQIA friendly, and we would go there again.
Food was good, service fantastic and very nice ambience.
We were celebrating a Beautiful birthday dinner with family. Thought the beef Wellington was very nicely done. Drinks were amazing. Would definitely go back.

So we ate here this evening and gotta say, not worth the hype. I'm totally convinced most restaurants just done know good beef. I had the beef Wellington, a speciality of the house apparently, and the gristle vein running through the meat made it hard to enjoy. The wine sauce was wine forward, not well melded. My companion had the filet, decent tasting and well cooked, but her side of asparagus was overwhelmed with too assertive lemon, for $200 it was really a huge let down. Great service, however.
Went here for our anniversary dinner.
This is a very flashy establishment, fit for the new DC restaurant scene but severely lacking in food quality and flavor. The salmon entree was very good, but the lobster I had as a side to my entree was extremely rubbery and had zero flavor to it. No butter to go over it, just a piece of lobster meat. For the price range, I expected to be blown away by the flavors and was left underwhelmed.
I made a reservation for Sat.
March 16, 2024 at 3:15pm. For 3 people. We were going here to celebrate my sons 33rd birthday. The web site stated they give a 15 mins grace period. I got there at 3:25pm. The hoisted said she couldn't seat us because we missed our time slot. Even after I told her the web site stated we have 15 min grace period. She refused to seat us. Thanks for nothing and thanks for ruining my sons birthday!! Needless to say we found another restaurant at the wharf and ended up having a great time!! I was considering going to Hells Kitchen for my birthday coming up in May, but after this experience will consider going somewhere else.

I love Gordon Ramsay's restaurants and this one did not disappoint! We were there to celebrate a friend's birthday and she had an amazing dining experience. While my friends ordered the tasting menu which includes the signature beef Wellington, I got the braised short ribs. OMG! It was incredible. The grapefruit and lychee spritzer was very refreshing and helped balance the meal. My friends let me steal a few bites of their desserts and hands down that was the best cheesecake I've ever had. Definitely recommend this as a special occasion destination.

We loved it! I took my 11 yr old son with me because our birthdays are in the same month. The ambiance, environment, pictures, service, & food was dope I can't wait to go to another Ramsey restaurant Highly recommend and was worth every buck. Shout out to my waitress Lakishia The only thing I didn't care for was the Gouda Mac and cheese.

We sat there for 20 minutes and no one acknowledged us at all finaly got up and left very disappointed. For a guy that stresses good food and service this was very unexpected ! I know he would be complaining about his own place
Hell's Kitchen was well worth the wait for a reservation,
Hell's Kitchen was well worth the wait for a reservation, and winning that bet was the best decision ever. Gordon Ramsay's culinary expertise shines through in every aspect of the dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant sets the perfect tone for a memorable evening, and the service from the staff is truly exceptional. From start to finish, Hell's Kitchen exceeded my expectations, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience.
My husband and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary
My husband and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary here and we had a great time. So amazing from food to atmosphere. Drinks were great. Our waiter Isaiah was phenomenal and made our experience so fun and gave wonderful recs. Highly highly recommend!
Amazing experience.
They lived up to the reputation. Only thing that would have been better was sitting by the window.
Food was amazing as expected, however they didn't have a
Food was amazing as expected, however they didn't have a free birthday treat for the birthday girl (we had to pay $4 for a small scoop of ice cream to put our candles in) and we were charged for bottle water. When asked we said still/tap water and we didn't notice until the receipt came we were being poured bottle water not water from a carafe (since we were all just having water) but what's worse is they just kept coming around and filling our glasses (which was nice) but that meant they kept opening and charging us for a new bottle even if we didn't need it. They never asked so we left a bottle or more worth on the table that was in our glasses unused.
Hank’s on DC Wharf
Hank’s restaurant on the Washington DC wharf is the perfect stop for lunch. Seafood specialties like jumbo crab cake and po boy (fried oysters) sandwiches. Few hundred meter away you find the fish market where you can have raw oysters and clams from VA and MD as appetizer. Enjoy !
Excellent Happy Hour
Food and service was good. The bartender was fantastic and knowledgeable of what to recommend based on your preferences. A bit too "cold" of an atmosphere...felt more like a cafeteria. That being said, the happy hour specials and cold draft beer is excellent.
Phenomenal
Fabulous! Simply fabulous! Food was great but the customer service was phenomenal. We’re visiting from Georgia with little kids and the host really took time to talk with us. He made this city and restaurant feel like home. Exactly what we needed after a long day. On top of that, the food was perfect. Not one complaint. This place will always be first on our list.
Dinner at the wharf!
Great dinner at the wharf! We were celebrating my sister’s birthday and arranged a girl’s trip in Georgetown. We decided to visit the wharf and based on the reviews and oysters we decided on Hank’s. We had reservations and we were seated immediately. Our waiter Rich was awesome, made us all feel welcome and had great dinner suggestions. Since they don’t have a dessert menu he went out of his way to bring us dark chocolate to celebrate. Clam chowder is the best, not thick just tasty! Oysters were yummy. Drink were good too!
Great dinner outside by the water
After checking out museums all day, we wanted to be somewhere outside as the weather was perfect. We walked over to the Wharf and stopped at Hanks as it’s right on the water. Food was great and Rich our waiter was fun and attentive. We split the fish and chips (I swear the fries were some of the best I’ve had). Neither of us are oyster fans but Rich suggested the hog island style bbq oysters. They were fabulous. Probably because we were really eating cheese and garlic butter and couldn’t taste the oyster. All in all, it was a great dinner on a lovely night by the water.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
