Enzo's Masterpieces: Authentic Italian Delights at Magica Roma
Magica Roma is exactly what the name suggests: authentic, delicious Italian food. We simply can't get enough of this gem. Enzo’s special dishes are the best; I never look at the menu because each time, he masters a new dish that makes my taste buds dance with delight.

lunched with friends at Magica Roma last Thursday. MR has a great reputation which quite frankly is ill-deserved. I ordered calamari The portion was small, unexceptional in taste, and served with chips. At R235.00 for what amounted to little more than a starter portion, although the chips made it more filling, was certainly not value. My wife ordered the Veal Marsala. Two thin slices of veal were dry and overcooked. A small serving of overcooked tasteless spinach was brought the table as a seasonal vegetable. we feel we wasted money on indifferent and overpriced food. My wife called the next day but there has been no response from a clearly arrogant management. Never again.

We visited Magica Roma a few days ago and, I'm sorry to say, were disappointed. My wife ordered the baby calamari tubes as a main dish and when it arrived we thought it was a starter. The portion as a whole was very small. The rice that accompanied the calamari tasted like ordinary Tastic rice. A restaurant which has a fine dining classification (which MR doesn't have) could perhaps get away with charging a pricy R235 for this dish. I ordered the veal Marsala and the souce was nice but the veal was tough. We realize that the input costs for restaurants have been climbing steeply but is just sad to see how the value for money at MR has been declining over the years. It's perhaps better to stick to the cheaper dishes such as pizzas and pasta when visiting this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyAlways a winner!
After having sampled several high end on trend Cape Town restaurants and finding ourselves underwhelmed, my friends and I decided to return to an old favourite and we were not disappointed. Delicious food selected by our genial host, served by friendly and knowledgable staff in a cosy, warm environment. There is a reason it is still going strong after so many years… we will definitely return again & again

Once a month, we 5 old guys meet for lunch in Cape Town Today, it was Magica Roma. We have used this restaurant off and on for many a year. Always the same food and service where, I have to say it , "excellent". Three of us had Veal, The other two, Calamari and Lamb Chops. Wonderful.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome Impromptu Dinner
My husband and I decided on an impromptu dinner and were thrilled that we could get a table at Magica Roma when we called 30 minutes before arriving at the Restaurant. Friendly and courteous greeting by the staff as we arrived followed by a delightful and very attentive waitress. Our meal - Pasta Arrabiata and Veal Saltimbocca was absolutely outstanding accompanied by 2 glasses of wine. A wonderful experience as always with the only disappointment being our request for a cortado which after explaining how it is made, we were presented with a mochiato - clearly not the same thing.

I felt very intimidated sitting at our table, with a waitress leaning on the railing directly behind me with arms crossed. Not exactly a welcoming stance for guests. She kept coming to our table to take an order, but we kept saying we weren't ready to order, and when we were ready, she was no where to be seen. She failed to tell us that there was only one portion of the cannelloni left. My plate of pasta, was just that, a plate of pasta with a tomato sauce, no garnish, and more importantly, no Parmesan cheese was served with it. We had to ask for cheese. Upon paying, I didn't leave a tip, as I don't believe in tipping for bad service, and the owner came to say that I hadn't left a tip!!!!! Never again!!!

Quality of food - Understand why have to book - Authentic Italiano !! Atmosphere viby - but bit rushed instead of real "linger longer" around dishes orderedS Looked for a few new seasonal dishes - what we ordered excellent Service - the way we were treated is what really makes this a positive experienced
Be the first to ReplyThe best very best food in Cape Town. What’s so amazing that the quality has been consistent over the years.
The very best food and service in Cape Town. Consistent over the years. Ezio, one of the owners, personally oversees the kitchen and very often is the chef de maison when that extra special dish is ordered. Prices very reasonable and a quality wine list at reasonable prices. They go out of their way to please. A rarity nowadays!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing service and authentic cuisine
Magica Roma offers authentic Italian cuisine on par with restaurants that charge nearly double their prices. I went here to celebrate with my girlfriend and the staff and cuisine were both excellent. If you’re a pasta fan, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit if you’re near the Pinelands. Perhaps the best commendation I can give for Roma was the high quantity of local Italians we heard dining with us that night.
