Garibaldi's Savannah Reviews
Making us wait to figure out check amount due
My friend and I sat at the bar and split a fabulous dinner of pasta and mixed seafood. My friend also had a glass of wine. When the check/bill came, we ended up getting the fellow next to us’ bill. Once we finally got ours, it was split incorrectly and it took about an additional v10-15 minutes to figure out what was correct, and then the bartender/ server was so confused he called over a manager that took a crazy additional amount of time. It was incredible- they should have just comped the 1 glass of wine- that’s considerate service after making us wait an inordinate amount of time. On the other hand, the pasta was great!
We live locally in the Savannah area.
We went here for the first time to celebrate an anniversary. The building and the interior is beautiful with a bar area downstairs. We were seated in a window on the upper dining level. Our server, Bobby, was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and the specials and made some recommendations for wine pairings. The atmosphere was nice until towards the end of our meal when a very large group on the other side of the restaurant got quite loud. At that point they and us were the only ones upstairs. It appeared to be an "office" outing and they were a little too rambunctious for our liking, which ruined our evening. Their behavior didn't match the menu prices, or the ambiance of the restaurant. No one bothered to ask them to keep it down. They probably should have been seated in the bar area, as they were not appropriately dressed either. We declined dessert and coffee, as we just wanted to leave at that point. Now onto our meal. The food was okay, but nothing really spectacular for the prices that they charge. There was nothing unique about their offerings. We definitely expected much more from this place. We maybe would stop in for a drink at the bar, but would probably not eat a meal here again. Our server, and the decor were the highlights unfortunately.

I am going to say this is the best spot if you are on business and wanting to eat alone at the bar. There's a lot of us bar eaters when on the road, and I consider this one of my best spots. Even though its in the tourist section, it is actually hidden on the back end of the Market. Atmosphere is wood, dark, and masculine, with a lot of locals hanging out. I had the veal scallopini and it was very good. Some people say its pricey, but what isn't these days. Again, great atmosphere for dinner if you want to get away from the co-workers or if you're travelling alone.
Outstanding Elegant Restaurant for Date Night
We enjoyed a delightful Date Night at Garibaldi Cafe. Our server, Travon, was very welcoming and attentive. We followed his recommendation and ordered the salmon topped with crabmeat. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce complemented the salmon. Very cool retro elegant ambiance in the upstairs dining room. Fun Fact: the building used to be a fire station.
This place is amazing.
I had the scallops which were the absolutely best I have had. They were tender and tasty. The service was impeccable. I will be back.
Went to Garibalid's tonight for dinner.
We had eaten there twice before tonight as we are from out of town. We brought two other couples with us as it was for a 41st anniversary. Got there about 7:10 for a 7:30 reservation and got seated right away. Our server was very good and got our drinks and bottles of wine right away. We ordered our food right after we set down. We were having a good time, but noticed that there were at least three tables that sat down after us, that were getting there food served before us. We didn't say anything as our waitress kept saying we would be soon. Finally got our food about two hours after we sat down. While the food was extremely good, I was very disappointed in how long it took. The final straw that got me upset was that the table next to us had a person with a birthday and they got recognized for that, but the couple that we had there for there anniversary, got nothing and were not recognized even though we told the restaurant. We spent a lot of money for dinner, it was very good, but overall, I was disappointed in the timing of our food delivery and not having our couple recognized for their anniversary.
On our ninth anniversary, my partner and I chose Garibaldi
On our ninth anniversary, my partner and I chose Garibaldi Restaurant for a special evening, and we were not disappointed. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were greeted warmly, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience. We started our culinary journey with the shecrab soup and Gambel, both of which were exquisite. The flavors were rich and perfectly balanced, leaving us eager for what was to come. For the main course, we indulged in the salmon and flounder accompanied by a medley of fresh vegetables. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, showcasing the culinary expertise of the chefs at Garibaldi. The fish was cooked to perfection, moist and flavorful, while the vegetables provided a refreshing contrast. To top off our evening, we savored a decadent dessert that left our taste buds dancing with delight. Every aspect of the meal was thoughtfully prepared, and it was evident that attention to detail was a top priority for the staff. What truly set Garibaldi apart, however, was the impeccable service we received throughout the evening. From the attentive waitstaff to the charming ambiance, every element contributed to making us feel truly special on our anniversary. In conclusion, our experience at Garibaldi Restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. We left feeling pampered, satisfied, and grateful for the memories created on our special day. We wholeheartedly recommend Garibaldi to anyone seeking a culinary adventure accompanied by unparalleled hospitality. Thank Bobby and the all Team.
Great restaurant
It was a great experience in a very good restaurant. The second course was delayed, but the staff took great care of it and were generous. The food was very good and beautifully presented. The wine selection is very good!

This was our first visit, and it has a nice, upscale, yet comfortable ambience. We were seated at a cozy, upholstered bench seat table for two. The seat cushion definitely needed to be replaced as it was worn out and not too comfortable. For starters, I had a cup of jambalaya (really spicy, but good), she had the poached pear salad and loved it. For entrées, she went with the Carbonara and I had the Chicken Parmesan. Her Carbonara was tasty, but we both thought it would be better with either spaghetti or fettuccine noodles versus the shell noodles. My Chicken Parmesan was very average tasting. Menu is a little on the pricier side. Arnold did an excellent job serving us!

From the service to the ambiance and food, everything was amazing. Celebrating a friends birthday and I must say our waiter Trey made the experience worthwhile.
The food just wasn’t good.
Two of the six people In our party thought their meal was gross. One ordered duck and the other ordered a mahi special. My wife and I ordered simple Italian dishes and thought they were just fine. The other two people also thought their meals were average. For the price it was a pretty bad experience. It’s very busy, but a cool spot. Both tourists and locals go. No chance I would go back
Good food, horrible atmosphere
Food was good but the atmosphere was very dark and way too loud. I saw waiters going upstairs with food. Maybe there is a nicer, quieter atmosphere upstairs??? We also had a table that wasn’t good, right by the waiters, hostess, and front door. Would not return unless we had a better and quieter table.
Look elsewhere for seafood
If you want seafood look elsewhere. The shrimp cocktail was not fresh. It had obviously been in the refrigerator for a long time. Color was dull and lifeless. Also the mahi mahi was very overcooked. Dry and tasteless. The crispy flounder, a signature dish, was cooked correctly but spoiled by an extremely sweet sauce topping. Why? The sauce should be optional and/or a variety of sauces offered, such as sour mango which is common. Went in with high expectations, left very disappointed.
Garabaldi’s is fantastic! Beautiful setting and great food!
I live in Charleston and remember the old Garibaldi’s in Charleston before it closed. I had never been to the Savannah location so we decided to stop for dinner recently while passing through. What a treat! The atmosphere is old school glam with beautiful ornate mirrors, ceiling tiles and ambient lighting. The food was just as good as the setting. We had French onion soup which had a wonderful rich flavor, as well as oysters Rockefeller, and poached pear salad as starters. The salad had fried goat cheese mixed in which was a perfect addition to the pears. For a main course we shared the whole flounder entree. It was delicious as well. We felt that it was slightly overcooked but it was still lovely— and taken in conjunction with the whole experience, it was a non-issue. This charming little restaurant is a shining star. We will absolutely come back when we are in Savannah.
Mother's 80th Birthday
I have seen some great reviews and some not so great. That prompted me to call the restaurant a day before we arrived. I reminded them we had a party of 10 and it was mothers 80th and we wanted it to be special. They didn't disappoint. Our server Sierra. (Hopefully, I got that right). She was wonderful for the entire three hours. The oysters raw and cooked were outstanding. The drinks were great. I and some others had the signature scored flounder. Great decision. We all agreed it was outstanding. The others enjoyed their choices also. Some had dessert others' dessert drinks. All were outstanding. My suggestion is to let them know it's a big deal and they do the rest.

We went on a recent Saturday night at 7pm (had a reservation; it was packed) and were promptly seated in the bar area. The vibe is upscale historic moody tavern (not sure if that is that a thing but it's what comes to mind). Now let's talk Service. It was EXCEPTIONAL. Thank you Arnold for a memorable evening!!! You are without a doubt one of the best we've encountered. Professional, attentive, FUNNY, very informative. Not sure why we felt compelled to tell you we had a car service picking us up.....which we did every.time.we.ordered.more.drinks. I guess we didn't want to disappoint you. We really did have a DD pick us up. Ok...to the food. Backstory: we've lived in Savannah a little over 2 years and love trying new restaurants. This was one of the best meals we've had here. And there have been many great ones. Apps: Oysters Rockefeller A+. Mussels A+. Entrees: we had the Scallops and the Redfish special. Perfection!!! It was a 2 hour relaxed meal with friends. We never felt rushed. Already planning our next visit! See ya soon Arnold :)
Treat yourself to a step back in time
We had a great dinner here. It was our first visit to Garibaldi’s. The atmosphere was old worldly and charming. Our server Taylor was professional and kind. We had an excellent meal consisting of Lobster pasta and Pasta Primavera to which I added scallops. A bottle of Stag’s Leap topped it off.
The food was good, what little I had, the soup! Went
The food was good, what little I had, the soup! Went here with a large group for a preplanned event. After 3 hrs they had only served about half the tables their main course. I left because the first table got their their food about a half hour ago and with two tables left in a six table party still were not served yet. It took them 45 minutes to serve all six tables the soup and salad! There was a desert course left after that main course would finish if that would ever happen. Can't speak for the service on an individual, but large preplanned events are apparently not their thing!!!!
This is a beautiful and charming restaurant.
Outstanding service, our server was on point, very knowledgeable about the cuisine, gave wonderful recommendations. I wish I could remember her name! Food was very good.
Consistently great food, service and atmosphere!
We were warmly greeted at the front entrance and taken upstairs to our table. We were promptly greeted by Josh our server. We started with. drinks and the raw oyster trio and octopus as our appetizers, both of which were delicious. Our entrées included, veal, piccata, salmon, and sea scallops, all of which were well presented, hot and delicious. The atmosphere upstairs at Garibaldi reminds me of restaurants in Paris, spacious high ceilings, wooden floors, and absolutely beautiful. As a Savannah resident, I can always count on Garibaldi‘s for consistently, great food and service, it’s a great way to show off Savannah, Georgia!
