This is the more casual option to the next door Michelin
This is the more casual option to the next door Michelin star French restaurant. Has a small menu of carefully crafted dishes that features dinners with top seasonal produce. Menus vary, apparently, by season. We had a great dinner with matched wine for half the price of the next door option.

visited this restaurant randomly while checking Google map and it was extremely excellent restaurant I really recommend it don't miss the small pizza, ribeye steak and the eggplant
Be the first to ReplyVery poor service.
Waiters are ignoring clients and are surprised to be busy on Saturdays. 45 minutes to prepare scrambled eggs.

Deluxe gastro pub? Hardly. Respectable upmarket-pub food. More likely.Brunch: we came here for the bottomless brunch which is 15 quid on top of whatever your 2 courses cost, allotting you 1.5hrs of Bloody Marys, Pilsner, or Prosecco. However, I did have a round or two of BMs, though you aren't really meant to alternate. Obviously we went for the Prosecco because we are not chumps. The food is brunchy (eggs benedict, full english, pancakes) or you can opt for the more familiar burger, spiffed-up hot dog, posh Macaroni and cheese, etc. Good value for money but it took ages for any one to approach us to order our first drink, and given the 90 minute limit, it was very much tick-tock. Refills were just not happening without some serious attention seeking on our part. My full English was fine but uninspired given it's next door neighbor is La Chapelle.General: We stuck around after for a few after our time expired and I found the place a bit confused about who it was. It has wine on tap but only 1 on tap beer (copper vats storing unpasteurised Czech Pilsner). There is an exposed brick, bistro-esque part with clear glass ceiling. Then there is a more intimate area resembling a posh pub. It doesn't possess that warm atmospheric pub quality about it nor is the food innovative enough to put it into the gastro pub arena. At least not in any meaningful way. Facing the facts though, it's a minute from my flat so I will attempt another visit due to sheer proximity.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a great experience here last night.
We didn't have any food (other than the curry popcorn), but service was outstanding, which really made the experience.Wade was everything a great bartender should be - friendly, chatty, knowledgable, and a he made a mean Bailey's iced latte. The Pilsner Urquell, served as it is from the closed casks, was creamy and smooth - it had the mouthfeel of a milk stout or a nitro pour (though sadly the flavor of Pilsner Urquell, which is just okay). We were tempted to plan for a return next Sunday for a roast dinner, and well, who are we to argue with a nice Sunday roast, easy walking distance from our hotel?Service across the board was friendly, the vibe was cozy, and I am stealing the bathroom design.

Galvin Hop is trying to be some sort of Gastro pub but they do really not get much right. Any place that wish to call themselves a pub should really have more than one beer on tap. They do of course also offer five kore by the bottle but a very limited selection to start with. The beer on tap is Pilsner Urquell and that is a decent Czech lager bit what was pretty bad was that it was flawed - clear example of production error in that they had diacetyl in it (it is most easily described as a butterscotch flavor and scent that when it is really bad takes on rancid notes). This was a horrible case of it so felt it when they put the beer on the table - asked to have it taken away. No objection so they probably knew of it - came with a new one from another batch which was better but still same issue. If you are then at a gastro pub and they cannot offer a single lager (all the other beers by bottle can where ales, stouts etc) it is just a joke.Food selection was what can be expected from a pub except for an interesting sounding range of hot dogs. We sampled the range and while the actually sausage was good the toppings just did not work and felt pre-made. The French fries on the side wheee also clearly ready-made so a disappointment.I was leaning towards giving one star as they also charge fairly hefty prices for a pub but to be fair the sausage was good but at £13 I expect more then a decent hot dog but still feels it deserves a weak two stars.
