A truly incredible spectacle
My dining experience at Gaggan Anand was pretty incredible. The food, a very modern take on cuisine from all over India, was very creative and most dishes were quite delicious. What takes real centerstage here though is the spectacle. The staff will dance and sing. Food courses will be paired not just with delicious wines, but also with a diverse range of chest-thumping music, from Aerosmith to Sting to the Backstreet Boys. A dinner here is a full frontal assault on all five senses. Most courses you'll eat with your hands. One dessert course you lick straight off the plate. Be prepared for audience participation. The more you let loose and leave your inhibitions at the door, the more fun you'll have! The staff was incredibly attentive and super fun. Come here for a truly unique dinner and a show! My menu was: 1) Yogurt & Chutney - Mint chutney leaf with yogurt explosion filled with crackling rice poppers. Like a sparkling samosa chaat 2) Shrimp Shiso Papadums - Papadum with shiso leaf and sweet Japanese prawn 3) Mushroom Fireworks Shells - Air fried and freeze dried mushroom cracker with cashew nut and black truffle creamy center. Surprisingly yummy 4) South Indian Murku Paper - Deep fried paper from South India 5) Rat Has Brains - Presented as brains from street rats, but actually onion gelee molded into the shape of a brain, topped with beet juice blood and served on a spring onion cracker 6) Green Asparagus Sunflower - Asparagus tart with asparagus ice cream and wasabi 7) Beetroot Gorgonzola Below - Beetroot with gorgonzola cheese dug out of edible dirt 8) Chole Bhatura - Deep fried butterfly-shaped chole bhature with chickpea mouse and almond balsamic chutney 9) Coffee Foie Waffle - Coffee waffle with coffee flavored toffee with foie gras marinated in Disaronno liquor 10) Ghewar Sea Salt Salad - A milk dessert salad tart fried in milk fat with sea salt ice cream spiked with fresh vanilla 11) Uni Kiwi Toast - Uni and kiwi on a milk cracker 12) Tomato Rasam Latte - Presented as juiced rat and rat blood, but actually a chilled tomato rasam, fermented and prepared with yuzu, black pepper, and oat milk. Topped with bright red pulverized tomato powder 13) Bamboo Turmeric Satay - Presented as grilled rat, but actually grilled bamboo served with mango and yuzu chutney and turmeric oil, served under a black light so the turmeric oil glowed radioactive green 14) Methi Matar Momo - Momo dumpling with black garlic skin and green peas mutter stuffing cooked in cream with fennel leaves and sour cream 15) Colors of Eggplant - Eggplant with tamarind, coconut, jaggery, sesame and sauced with puree of its charred skin. Zero food waste! 16) Chicken Charcoal Wada - Deep fried fritter made with fermented vegetable ash batter on the outside, with chicken wing inside and then a lentil and rice filling with curry powder. Served with tamarind sauce. This was soooo yummy. 17) Crab Cauliflower Mustard - Steamed blue crab from Thailand served with mustard and charred mustard greens 18) Fish Paturi - Thai sea bass with white turmeric, coriander, and dill charred in banana leaf 19) Vinha D'Alhos Taco - Vindaloo taco of pickled pork jowl with chili and chutney. Yummy! 20) White Asparagus Rice - Long grain basmati rice aged for 3 years, cooked with thinly sliced French white asparagus,.butter, and cloves. This dish was a bit bland and disappointing, especially as the savory finale. 21) Pink Guava Leaf. Served with "Pink" by Aerosmith blaring over the speakers. 22) Kintoki Carrot Halwa. Diners have to lick this dessert straight off the plate.
Be the first to ReplyThe most amazing restaurant in the world
If there is one restaurant in the world I would travel to, it is this one! Incredible on every single level there is. Not for the faint-hearted, it's rock and roll and fine dining, it is cheeky and delicious, it is truly the most fun you can have dining out. Gaggan is a true genius - full stop. If there is one restaurant you could travel to in the world, go to this one!

Be the first to ReplyCulinary Einstein = Gaggan Anand
Culinary /wizardry/genius is the words I can use to describe my experience at Gaggan Anand with a bit of theatrical production into the dinner service . My pallet was on a flavor rhapsody with textures with notes of Indian in a simplified yet still elegant like fine couture . Excellent service team of amazing chefs like Fabio you all make the experience memorable . I highly recommend .

Never have I had a meal like this! Symphony of taste explosions, sounds, experience and joy! Every taste is unique and reminds you of something familiar but also unique. At the end of it all, the food and wine is just DELICIOUS! Enjoy!

Amazing meal and more than that an amazing culinary performance. Kudos to the team for a truly wonderful event. The team makes this meal extremely enjoyable and special.
Be the first to ReplyA tourist trap.
We travel the world over and always try to go to the best restaurants. We were at Gaggan 5 years ago in Bangkok and it was magnificent. We were looking forward to returning. We were quite disappointed - it's more about the show now than the food. And the show isn't so great. As for the food, it's average to below average (the rice dish we would do much better at home). It's incredibly expensive for what it is. Gaggan has become a tourist trap and, I suspect, a money machine, that's what's left of this great, innovative and charismatic chef. What a shame!
Be the first to ReplyWhat a rip off โ Gaggan restaurant a real disappointment.
As foodies we travel the world to eat at great restaurants. This was our biggest food disappointment ever!!! Gaggan has big ambitions, but the food experience was not worth the money. 2-3 courses of 22 gave some flavors explosions and gave somewhat some lasting memory. The other courses were just a huge disappointment. The staff got tangled in techniques and show that they forgot the passion for real food and flavors. We couldnโt believe the low performance of this experience. We felt so fouled and ripped off when we left after 2,5 hours. During the whole dinner we were waiting for some magic to happen. We are still waiting. This was overpriced, loud and most dishes felt like a poor lunch restaurant. It felt like we just throwed our money in the Chao Phraoy river and without any payback. If you want to experience an Indian fusion and fine dining donโt go to Gaggan. He needs to go back to the passion for food and back to basic. Go to Restaurant Gaa instead of Gaggan. His former sous-chef, Chef Garima Arora, deliver on a totally different level of flavors and passion for food. We left Gaggan still hungry and without any positive vibe what so ever, even tough the staff was nice and attentive. Do you self a favor and choose another restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyA Culinary Adventure at Gaggan Anand: A Bucket List Experience
Visiting Gaggan Anand was undeniably the highlight of our trip, fulfilling a long-held dream on my bucket list. This dining experience was nothing short of a unique explosion of tastes; each dish brought its own delightful surprise. The remarkable aspect was that there wasn't a single dish that fell short of our expectations. While we missed the chance to meet Chef Gaggan Anand himself, the experience didn't lack in any other aspect. The pacing of the meal was just right, allowing us to savor each course without feeling rushed. A standout feature was the chefs โ not only were they skilled in their craft, but their humor and engagement added an extra layer of enjoyment to our evening. They truly turned the dinner into a great show, complete with lights and music, making the atmosphere vibrant and lively. The chefs' playful antics, including constantly teasing us (leaving us in suspense about whether we ate rat or not!), only enhanced the experience. Admittedly, the price tag was steep, but it felt justified for such an extraordinary experience. It was, in every sense, a worthwhile investment for a memorable evening. I'm looking forward to returning next year, assuming there is a new menu. Gaggan Anand is not just a restaurant; it's a theatrical culinary adventure that tantalizes the taste buds and all the senses!
Be the first to ReplyWorth the Dine!
Dining at Gaggan Anandโs Gaggan in Bangkok was a culinary odyssey that pushed the boundaries of gastronomy and creativity. The restaurantโs location in a historic building added to its charm. The tasting menu was a mesmerizing journey through progressive Indian cuisine, with dishes that were as visually stunning as they were delicious. The staffโs expertise and their storytelling approach to each course made the dining experience truly exceptional. The interactive and immersive ambiance of Gaggan added to the overall delight. Gaggan Anandโs Gaggan is not just a restaurant; itโs a celebration of culinary innovation and a must-visit for anyone seeking an extraordinary dining adventure in Bangkok.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth it
I agree with Olivier K's review from Dec. 2022. This was overpriced, loud, and though the techniques were original, many of the dishes were simply a miss. The dinner itself is actually more of a show - do not expect to be able to talk to anyone else there or even your partner. The music is (too) loud and very self-indulgent (as was the attitude of the restaurant). The cuisine use interesting molecular gastronomy techniques, but some of the dishes (like the eel with chocolate) were simply bad dishes. There were too many dishes that were filler or bad or just for show that lacked depth of flavor (or any flavor at all). Some, like the flower-shaped meringue, were like styrofoam. The lickable dessert was terrible, and when you tell a restaurant "you eat everything" that applies to dairy, meat, etc., but you should warn guests about eating turtle brain before you serve it. In a molecular gastronomy environment everyone assumes that's something else, and not all of us enjoy eating turtle. Chef was two hours late and then complained about the traffic and gave us some cold brew coffee that he told us "would give us the best sh*t of our lives". Though hilariously true, definitely not appropriate or worth while. A far cry from the previous Gaggan restaurant. Save your money and have a way better dinner at 80/20.
Be the first to ReplyFar from the first Gaggan . Very desappointing . To be avoided
It is more a show than a gastronomic experience . The atmosphere is not at all refined . Heavy speeches about the dishes and themselves . Very loud music repeatedly . The cuisine is obviously not driven by fine taste but by the sheer seek of originality . The entire show tries to prove at any occasion that originality is the key element . Some dishes are fortunately very good , but some others are of no interest . Very disappointing in comparison with the first Gaggan . Letโs add that the wine peering is mandatory. Which is never a good idea . Must only be optional . And , in this case , should not even exist , as the choice of wines is terrible . Almost none was eligible to the simple name of wine . Here again originality is not a sufficient criterium of selection. But even more , 9 out of 10 wines were simply not drinkable . Unacceptable for the desired level of restaurant . Totally Unacceptable for the price of the dinner .

You know youโre a good when you book the reservations months in advance before you get the flights. This place did not disappoint! Cool AF chef with fun and creative dishes thatโs engaging to the guests. Two and a half hours of creativity and imagination in each dish. It was very fun! We licked our plates clean!
Be the first to ReplyAwful Experience
Average food, the chef (gaggan) was rude, disrespectful and awful. Would not recommend visiting. They tried doing a lot of Indian fusion that was not satisfying. The desserts were below average and not up to Michelin standards. Not sure how this is rated as a Michelin stated restaurant. Would not visit again.
Be the first to ReplyPoor culinary experience
I cannot understand how Michelin Guide provided in the past 2 Michelin star to this establishment. On that case Chefโs Table and Suhring well deserve 3 stars. At 14,000 THB is a shame to had only 20% of the menu to a good level of cuisine, the rest is a nonsense of taste and flavors. Same for the wine pairing with those natural wines who are not drinkable and donโt paired with the food.

The online reservation system is a joke. Made a lunch reservation on 2/5/2022 just to find out it was closed when we got there

This is truly a top dining experience. Gaggan is not a chef but a true artist applied to food. Thatโs all.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Experience
We visted Thailand because of this restaurant. It's the best food we had. You will listen to music while you taste one cuisine. You will lick the plate for one cuisine. It took us 2.5 hours to finish all dishes. The price was expensive but worth it. You have to send them your credit card information to reserve the table, otherwise you will not get a table there.
Be the first to ReplyStill the best
Decided to give the new Gaggan Anand restaurant a try. Didn't disappoint. Still serving great tasting dishes and arguably the best that Thailand has to offer. Wine pairing was perfect. I also liked the new menu format where there are 5 or 6 acts and you choose a dish from each act to complete the meal. All the dishes were well crafted and always looking forward to the next. Service was good and the food came out in good tempo although it wasn't very crowded on the day I went so can't say how they will perform under pressure.
The complaints.... from act 1 everything hit your taste buds like a nuclear warhead and by act 4 your tongue was just numb and dying for a rest. Second the new premises are odd. Hanging leaves that you have to swat away to get to the seating area. The place doesn't need this type of gimmick. The food does all the talking. Despite this will need return shortly before the tourists overwhelm the place.
Absolutely loved it.
Absolutely loved it. The food, amazing and each dish was a sheer delight and a piece of art. The service, fabulous and hugely informative and entertaining. The atmosphere, relaxed and sophisticated. If you visit Bangkok, you must book a dinner at Gaggan, especially Gโs Spot. Itโs totally worth it.
Be the first to ReplyIt's a different experience
Food came in different sequence and taste, overall good experience, had set lunch, waiters explain what you are eating, always suggesting more than bite, bit pricey though.
Be the first to Replybest best
best among the rest and the best. ate here with my friends and husband. we enjoy every single dish and the service too. it was excellent experience
Be the first to ReplyTaster menu of exquisite cuisine paired with superb wines
We first attended Gaggan in 2017 at the previous location and wanted to experience the food in a conventional restaurant setting. However nothing about the new Gaggan Anand is conventional, the food is art on a plate and the service is pure theatre. Each dish of 18 and each wine of six was introduced to us by a chef or the sommelier. I lived in India for over three years and can confirm the authenticity of the flavours from the high quality ingredients. Anand and the team are doing a fantastic job.
Be the first to ReplyA night one will remember!
It is a very special restaurant, and every single dish is a piece of art and it is very creative cuisine. We have been to very many restaurants all over the world, but none with this concept where one feels like every single member of the staff enjoys their job and is very enthusiastic about the food and drinks. The china, the cutlery etc. is also pieces of art. Everyone in the kitchen make the food like that they are on stage. In many ways it feels like everybody is a member of a cast in a theatre. I did not enjoy all dishes but I must say that they all were very creatively made, beautifully presented and surprised us all the time! I give 5 stars because of the concept and because it is special. It is expensive, but it is worth it when one gets a dining experience one will remember for many years to come.
