5 star all the way.
Great cocktails, nice wine by the glass list. I had the smoked trout, beet salad, the short rib, and the butter cake for dessert. Everything was amazing and the service was impeccable. Very easy to see why Flea Street is a Menlo Park staple.

Yum !! Everything is wonderful! Food, service, bar !! Love to have dinner at the bar and watch all the beautiful drinks being prepared.
Be the first to Replyhad nice expectation for that restaurant based on website /
had nice expectation for that restaurant based on website / ''reputation'' / others review - my girlfriend took me these for a special birthday - trully disapointed with several things 1/ food: was ok to fine but really nothing extra special compared to other restaurants in the same price range and catering to the same type of market / customers ... I guess it missed the "WoW" factor ... 2/ ambiance and ''decor'': average - we dined on the patio and frankly the tables / chairs / tableware / placemat looks more like a normal restaurant than what one would expect for this type of place. Maybe it's better ans nicer - more sophisticated inside / indoors ? Plates and glass seemed to have been purchased from the flee market, all different and not that eclectic / artistic and frankly as this would have been fine somewhere else this was really odd there ... sure didn't feel like a trendy / sophisticated cuisine / cool restaurant ... maybe a good idea but badly implemented due to the choice of items. 3/ service: average to poor - the waiter couldn't care less to explain some of the intricacy (if any) of the food or the preparation - we didn't ask but in most places like these the waiter always volunter such informations - we waited 25 minutes between the first course and the main course ... dessert was very good ... so we ended on a good note LoL 4/ other: next day my girlfriend relalized an automatic tip of 20% was added (keep in mind this was a party of two) without the waiter telling us when he brought the bill ... so as she tipped also her tip was effectivley 40% plus of the dinner price ... 5/ recommandation: needless to say we will not go back there and do not recommend to any of our friends going there .... many more and better places to go to in the bay area for this ''class of restaurant'' - In my opinion and based on my experience ... I see there are very nice review of that place by other whom have been there ... I am a bit puzzled ... maybe this was an outlier ? ... maybe not ...

It's one thing to be a really good restaurant as far as food but it's another thing to be snobby about it. I sat at the bar by myself I'm a very friendly guy and nobody was interested in saying hello or asking how the food was. The bartender was offish. I went there once, and I'll never go back again.
Be the first to ReplySuper cozy outdoor seating with heaters.
My dog was chilling like a boss! The beet stack appetizer was a winner for us! Homemade butter was so yumm! Major points for Veggie and vegan options. And drinks including the non-alcoholic ones were delicious! For mains we had the crab pasta and the miso cod. Both were fresh and delicious, though the pasta was a tad dry but still yummy. Do checkout the menu before you reserve as their menu keeps on changing. Overall, a cozy haven with great food, attentive and friendly service. Can't wait to come back!
Be the first to ReplyAny night at Flea Street is a treat.
Whether it's a special occasion dinner, outing with friends or a bite at the bar. When asked my favorite restaurant this one is always included, and has been for over a decade. I meant to write a review a few weeks ago when my husband and I had the nicest casual dinner at the bar. He always orders the oysters, which are uniquely curated and flavored and never disappoint. I navigate to the McFarland Smoke Trout, a must have. For our entree we feasted on the Cioppino, savoring every bite. While this is not on the current menu, it was fabulous. Two nights ago I again sat at the bar with a friend and had a wonderful time. We over the Borscht and felt great about Flea Street's commitment to making the world better donating profits to Ukraine. The chicken Liver Mousse was fabulous and super generous in portion. Finally we shared the Wild Wild Pasta which had a wonderful earthiness from the mushrooms and brightness from the sun-dried tomatoes, full of the best textures in every bite. I would be leaving out a big favorite if I didn't talk about the fabulous Modern Old Fashion that always delights. The entire staff is kind and attentive, each personally caring about diners' experiences from arrivial to leaving full and happy. Chef Bryan is an absolute gem.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, stellar service and a lovely small amboance.
Very quaint and perfect for a date night.

This place has a gorgeous ambiance and very nice outdoor seating with heaters. All of the staff were so sweet and kind! They were also very accommodating towards me as a vegan: - gem salad is vegan without cheese (the dressing IS vegan) and super good! - the chef was kind enough to make a vegan risotto for me which was also very good. I called ahead the day before to ask about options, so I would advise doing that.

The food here is always good, but Chef Bryan has really outdone himself with the Valentine's Week menu and taken things to the next level. The flavors are bold but harmonious. We absolutely loved every dish we had last night. The Valentine's menu goes through Sat if you can still pick up a reservation!
Be the first to ReplyWe went a year ago and it was incredible.
We went a few months ago and it was terrible. Toal amateur hour. Maybe the C team was on duty? For the price, not worth the gamble.

Loved the cozy local vibes at this restaurant! The staff were very friendly and attentive the whole time too. The free biscuits for appetizers were divine. Spread some ribbon butter and sprinkle a little bit of salt and it's perfection. I wanted to ask for more but was too shy lol. We ordered the rack of lamb as an appetizer - we thought it would be too small but it was just the perfect size given its richness. It was amazing. For entrees, we ordered the short ribs and risotto. The short ribs melts in your mouth and was very tasty. The risotto was almost too rich for my taste. To be honest it was not my favorite because of the earthy flavors but it was still good. Definitely coming back to try other menu items since we really enjoyed our time.
Be the first to ReplyWhile the food was good the service was awful.
Add to that a hidden 23% hidden mandatory service charge for all diners and you're basically just dealing with bad people. I guess since they guarantee a large tip they don't care how well they serve you. I used to like this place prior to COVID but it is so poorly run now that I can't ever see myself coming back.
Be the first to ReplyMinus 1 star for pricey! $25 for 2 frozen cinnamon rolls.
I had to cook them myself? Only 2???and they included the to go frozen cinnamon rolls and buttermilk biscuits (frozen, I have to cook) in the tab, which includes 20% service chargeJesse's purple Egg (elevated deviled egg) was $14Salad $19Scallop main was $47$16 for a beautiful creme bruleeMeyer Lemon Soda $12Tea $7buttermilk biscuits FREE were yummy! and the butter presented beautifully! Over the past six months, they appear to have changed their quality of food. I've been coming for many years, but this time was very different. Food was very bland. This would not matter as much if the prices reflected it, but they are still pricing as though they are serving well thought out dishes. A meal for two with two drinks each was $350. I am OK spending that occasionally for interesting food and great service, but this was neither. Also, the dishes were not timed, and they kept bringing out our next course before we finished the previous one.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is expensive but outstanding.
A+ cocktails. Have been coming here regularly for a year.

A symphony for the senses! Every dish was beautifully prepared and presented. The smell and taste of the ingredients really popped. An unexpected standout was the "deep chocolate" tart: it was rich and moist, with the right balance of saltiness and sweetness. Any other restaurant would have drowned the tart in cream, but here the bruleed banana was a nice complement. Service and pacing were excellent, though we benefited from dining on a quiet night.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible fine dining.
Farm to table for sure. Beautiful, peaceful, elegant setting.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time at Flea Street and was very impressed.
Organic and sustainable, great vegetarian/seafood/meat options and amuse-bouche which made the dinner exciting and fun :) Service was wonderful and atmosphere was charming yet trendy, flatware/drink ware was unique and different with each menu item/cocktail. Food and drinks were fantastic. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyI recently visited Flea Street in Menlo Park and I must
I recently visited Flea Street in Menlo Park and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed by the entire experience! The limited but high quality vegetarian options are a standout, particularly the vegetarian sampler. This dish allowed me to try a range of flavors and dishes, from the delicious corn cake to the hearty soup and the scrumptious ravioli and polenta. The fact that all ingredients are fresh from local farms is a testament to the restaurant's commitment to serving the best quality food. The biscuits and fresh butter were nothing short of amazing, and I found the outdoor seating to be the perfect setting for an intimate and cozy meal, even during the winter. The added touch of blankets only enhanced the overall experience. Finally, the service was top notch and the staff were both friendly and conversational. They truly made me feel welcomed and at home. All in all, I would highly recommend Flea Street to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is overrated.
The entree menu is too short, with two of the five or six choices priced at $80 each. I chose the risotto because nothing appealed. My host asked for a little Parmesan cheese because I said that a little would help the dish and the server acted offended. We were at first given a table which faced a blank wall, probably the worst table in the place, but then moved to a half booth that was flat wood and extremely uncomfortable. I was relieved to leave after a mediocre meal. As someone else's guest I shouldn't complain but this restaurant could do better.
Be the first to ReplyOnce upon a time, my husband and I loved this place, it was
Once upon a time, my husband and I loved this place, it was a treat. Last night, we gelt nostalgic and though I hate plonking down a credit card to "hold" reservation, against my better judgement, I did exactly that--and regretted it. Not sure why they need a credit card, given that on a Friday night, the restaurant was half empty, though to be fair, we were done and left by the time peak hours hit. We got a bunch of stuff to share: smoked trout, broccoli soup, house vegetable salad, cioppino, and vegetable tasting. When we went in, I was surprised to note that the tables no longer had white tablecloths, as I remembered, and I could be mistaken, maybe they never had them, and now the place was transformed with burnished dark wood tables, which is not shabby, it's just that I'm old and fashioned, where I love the feel of crisp linen white cloths against the backdrop of food, not to mention it's an acoustically dampening effect, which these aging ears welcome. The service was attentive, warm, friendly and just lovely--absolutely no complaints there. The salad was a mess, not so much the ingredients, but the portion was tiny and the balsamic dressing was strong beyond and the entire salad was drenched in it, somebody in the kitchen decided to literally pour it on, and doesn't know the concept of sprinkle. The soup was divine--no cream or milk, made with vegetable stock and strewn with beautiful croutons. It was a healthy portion and fantastic. The smoked trout was one of the best in memory: a silken bit of house smoked trout with a golden exterior, along with house made potato chips and a dill cream dip underneath golden and red beets, with some greens. The perfect bite had bits of all, slightly tangy and creamy, and salty, yummy yum yum. Oh did I mention the amuse bouche? A trio of sunchokes--fried bits, along with roasted and pureed. I adore sunchokes , and then there were the biscuits that made this place famous. Two gorgeous bits of high rising dough, I took off the sesame seeds which I hate and sprinkled it with salt. If there's a better biscuit in town, I don't know it. No joke. Seriously. No southerner could make a biscuit like these guys. Damn. I could eat maybe half a dozen. The cioppino was fine, but I wouldn't write home, e.g. it had am kick but didn't sparkle, didn't wow, didn't sing, like the diva I need my shellfish stew to do. It was full of gorgeous white fish, mussels and clams and other good stuff, came with grilled baguette for dunking in the tomato broth, but for my colitis, it was too spicy, though my husband enjoyed it, which was awesome to see. The vegetable tasting read so well on the menu, which was why I ordered it, but no. No . No. The polenta a joke, so hard, I could barely ram my fork into it, and the issue was not my lack of deltoid or bicep strength. No. It was lacking, and my husband after one bite, had to agree. The spinach and béchamel cannelloni bland as hell, and not worth the amount of cream, butter and whatever else they had in there. The carrots were fine, as were the mushrooms. But really? A few carrots and mushrooms is gonna make a satisfying entree? No. After all the misses, despite the hits, I couldn't bring myself to order a dessert. The interior is a warm and welcoming space, as is the patio seating, which on a dark winter night, they managed to make inviting with the umpteen heating lamps and mood lighting. On a warm summer day and night, I can imagine that it would be inviting for a different reason. I'm hoping that other dishes coming out of this kitchen rivals the execution and quality of their broccoli soup and smoked trout. A kitchen that can do that must be capable of more. I refuse to give up hope and give them the benefit of doubt.

Visit this restaurant with NO expectations and you will be surprised at the simple complex flavors that are created with the fresh foods here.Half of the experience is the atmosphere and the lovely staff and the other half are the unique menu and flavors of the dishes. The mixed drinks are fabulous, staff is incredibly attentive and the food is cooked to perfection. The lamb, Gnocchi, crab cakes, deviled eggs, oysters all stellar.

In our search for great outdoor dining experiences (due to Covid) we decided to try Flea Street since we frequently drive past and saw their outside area. In short, the food and service was wonderful! They offer both small bites and full entrees but my wife and I chose to share 5 small bites between us. All were both delicious and visually appealing. This is a farm to table restaurant so most ingredients were seasonal and sourced locally. The crispy fried oyster mushrooms and the crab cake were probably our favorites. We also share 2 desserts, both were delicious. Our servers were friendly and attentive. My only issue was they, like many restaurants these days seem to feature truffles (don't like them) in too many of their selections. They even had a truffle cocktail which was pretty foul for my tastes. But will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyOk I don't usually keep re-reviewing places I've been to
Ok I don't usually keep re-reviewing places I've been to multiple times, but I just need to make another plug for Flea Street. As things open up, so many restaurants have gotten rid of their outdoor dining, but Flea Street has maintained their beautiful outdoor setup. It was a cold and rainy night, and their patio/deck roof is completely water tight, and they have these amazing heat lamps that are right over your table, so I was surprisingly warm and comfortable! Of course, Jesse made a personal appearance to say hello and chat, which is always really nice. Highlights off the menu tonight: - Crispy fried oyster mushrooms: perfectly seasoned and just the right amount of breading, really highlights the mushrooms - Mushroom carbonara: generous on the mushrooms, served with fresh pasta and a runny egg yolk. This was a rich and hearty dish even though it was vegetarian - Cioppino: wonderfully intense seafood flavors and perfectly cooked seafood The scallops, short rib, and pork chop were also solid. All servers are masked, and proof of vaccination is required for both indoor and outdoor dining. Again, I just had to review again to point out how great their outdoor setup is, even in the middle of winter when outdoor dining is otherwise very unappealing at most other places. Please support Flea Street!

Thank you. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. The place is a little overly covid-concious, but it is appreciated. Drinks are amazing, bartender "Eloy" seemed very personable. Thanks!
