such great food! the service was great, the waitress helped suggest a good red wine to pair with the burger (which was superb!). also helped me decide between fries and tater tots (made the right choice with the fries). overall, such a good monday post class meal!
Be the first to ReplyFairfax is a great go-to.
The ambiance is cozy and inviting. I love the bar set up if I can get a seat. The martini was vermouth heavy. The orange wine was good. The old bay tots were yummy, an easy share.
Be the first to ReplyHad to try THE burger because just look at it.
That being said, I actually liked the flat bread over a poofy bun. The bbq mayo, crispy potato thins, and pickled cukes made for a satisfying bite - but not enough to finish the entire burger. Standard calamari, fun cocktails, and overall cool vibes.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for brunch on a Sunday around 11am.
Definitely got lucky by getting a table without a reservation! Table was unfortunately by the door so it was a bit cold throughout the whole meal. It would've been a 45 minute wait for a table. Some people were crazy enough to sit outside in the cold! Their outdoor huts looked really cute but not sure how warm it was inside of them. We shared the omelette, burger and side of tots. The tots were so good! Nice and crispy! You get a huge bowl of them that several people could share. The omelette was with goat cheese and Brussel sprouts. There were shavings of the sprouts on top of the omelette but not inside, just lots of cheese inside. We added an over easy egg to the burger and it was a gooey, delicious mess! In hindsight though we realized we couldn't even tell if the burger was good because its flavor was hidden by all the toppings. My friend thought the sauce on it made it taste like a Burger King burger. Overall the meal with a coffee came to about $50. Drinks will definitely make your meal pricier. I think a Bloody Mary or mimosa was about $17 and they were served in very small glasses! The decor is very country. I felt like I could be in the Catskills.

It's a good enough burger with potato strings that bring a good texture and a nice sharp cheddar on top, but at the same time it didn't blow me away. I also have a ridiculously hard time justifying $11 for a side of tots, even if they were nice and crispy and seasoned with Old Bay. Good not great.

I really wanted to love this burger because I heard wonderful things. I was told to order medium rare but honestly have never seen a burger so undercooked before. I will likely come back and try it medium well, because honestly this was kind of nasty. Flavors were great, just undercooked. Basically rare in the middle. Literally uncooked. I feel like that's a health issue.
Be the first to ReplyReally great spot.
Everything is great, but the egg sandwich & the short ribs for lunch are insane.
Be the first to ReplyReally great spot in the West Village.
Be sure to make a reservation as if fills up quickly. We went for brunch! I highly recommend the egg sandwich!
Be the first to ReplyFun vibe with a truly delicious burger.
But you will have to put up with a lot of millennials screeching at the top of their lungs.

I just went back to Fairfax, we had Caroline, she was an AMAZING server, she ensured we got all food requests correctly. She also had such a wonderful and sweet attitude. I adore the burgers at Fairfax and they also have a GREAT olive cake. Can't wait to come back soon. Thanks for such a great experience.

I got the Burger done medium and it was cooked to perfection--juicy and tender. You have a choice of tater tots or fries with the burger and I chose the fries. They were cooked and seasoned to perfection. This was my first time coming and staff are very quick, friendly, and know their way around the menu.
Be the first to ReplyFun cocktails and solid old fashions.
Boutique highball glasses pair nicely with the vibe of this super tiny, quaint, old school (but new age bar?) tight quarters but friendly service and they're slinging small bites food like crazy out of the kitchen! Friend and I didn't eat here but sure looked and smelled great.

Early Mother's Day gift!!! Also phenomenal food and impeccable service. Antonia was accommodating and we had a wonderful birthday celebration all at once. Nothing like good food and good service!!! Thank you for making today beautiful. #Family

I'm a longtime fan of Joseph Leonard and Jeffrey's Grocery, and was excited to try their cafe concept. Walked in for breakfast on a holiday Monday at 10 AM and got a table right away, though it was packed. I had the petit omelette, and my boyfriend had the egg sandwich. Both were great, but the sandwich was definitely the highlight. They also do free refills on the drip coffee, which is always a nice touch.Perfect vibe and friendly service. Need to return to try the burger!
Be the first to ReplyEvery time I visit NYC, I have to make a stop here.
The eclectic aesthetic is reminiscent of a Wes Anderson film, and the duality of Fairfax as a coffee shop/wine bar restaurant is stunning. The Bar Sardine burger has been rehomed here and I'd like to believe it is the best burger in the city. Fairfax is a MUST try; come here for a date, a girls' night out, or a productive work day.

Amazing spot! It has a friendly and inviting atmosphere, lots of nods to the Midwest, and delicious food/drinks. The apps are incredible (I'm looking at you, fried artichokes). The staff was attentive and they made splitting checks amongst our big group a breeze. I highly recommend!!
Be the first to ReplyThe burger is a MUST.
My friend and I both for the exact same thing and it truly did not disappoint. The fries were perfectly crispy and enjoyed the aioli. Quick service and enjoyed the ambience of what felt like a cabin. Worth the time to drop in for sure!

What a cute little restaurant in a cute little neighborhood! The restaurant is cozy, and the tables are small; I don't know if this is true of all of the tables, but our chairs didn't have any backs (aka stools) which were fine but definitely not for lingering. The menu is on the smaller side, but there are a variety of lovely options from fish to short ribs to pasta. We ordered the fried artichokes and Old Bay tater tots to start, and then I had the bass. My friend and I both really enjoyed the fried artichokes (what's not to love with a fried artichoke??), but the tater tots were okay and too much for us to eat. So just stick with the fried artichokes! and the bass was delicious also. We had an early reservation, but it definitely looks as though it gets very busy and crowded as the night goes on.
Be the first to ReplySuch a vibrant, lively vibe.
Chris who was so lovely escorted us in, We sat on the bar which was a delight compared to other bar seating I've had before. The place is filled with what seemed like pieces from all around the world but in a zany type of way came together to create such a unique and lovely space! Food is phenomenal- tater tots, simple as it it soo crispy on the outside but so tender in the middle- (I know, it weird to elevate tater tots in such high of a pedestal) burger from bar sardine - which everyone seems to be raving about was ok, it was above mediocre though, I would say. The chicken however, deserve a spot light- so good. Moist and very well flavored and the vegetables the came with it was great. Now, drinks- John, our bartender who also took care of us- the Misguided by voices which was served in a pretty coupe was made pretty great. The strawberry flavor was so subtle that it was alike a beautiful soul in a glass. The snappin n trappin was such an exciting twist to an old fashion with what I think is a hint of manhattan in there- worth the mention - which was made so delicately by John!Overall such a lovely way to end a Thursday and welcome in the weekend. Ha! Will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyHonestly, I didn't think it was anything special.
We had made a reservation on a Sunday at 1:30pm for outdoor seating. The menu was pretty basic; nothing really grabbed my attention. We did feel rushed as the waiter was really attentive trying to push us to get our drink and food order in. We explained that we hadn't seen each other in two years and he seemed annoyed that we wanted a relaxing slower paced brunch. My friends enjoyed their burger and egg sandwich, neither came with sides. I had a salad and the parfait; both were average. For the price, I didn't think any of the dishes were worth it. Not sure if I'd come running back
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely wonderful staff and menu.
Read wonderful reviews about the restaurant and I'll be on prior to coming, and it has changed a bit since Covid. There are no longer leather wing back chairs or a pool table, but you should still definitely come. The ambience is welcoming with great artwork from decades past.We came between breakfast and lunch in so we're lucky enough to order off of both menus (11 am is the switch during the week). Four of us came and we ate the following petite omelette (x2), old bay tots, avocado toast (x3), cruditรฉ, Ice latte, Americano, black coffee and Bloody Mary No. 4. The Bloody Mary came with the beer back chaser which was completely unnecessary but delicious.

I have been going to Fairfax for over 3 years since I moved to New York. Tonight was such a disappointing experience. The hostess outside was wildly dismissive to my group, and upon seating us told the waiter to "get us out quick". I do not appreciate elitism in NYC and I'd love to see this restaurant see some repercussions for this.

What a disappointment! Made the reservation for my partner's birthday. When we arrived, I mentioned to the host it was his birthday. We were given the worst table in the restaurant...next to the door with a significant slant. There were two open tables next to us. When we asked to move got a grimace and even said we'd transport everything from our table. Server arrived without any introduction. I told her about the birthday. No acknowledgement. She had little personality throughout the meal. Never checked in on us or offered a refill on our cocktails. Brought the bill at the end with no offer of dessert. We couldn't wait to leave. Saving grace was the food was amazing, but not good enough to make us want to return. Good food is only part of the overall experience. I won't put up with lousy service!
