Ever Restaurant Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
Ever was my choice of Michelin star restaurants to check my
Ever was my choice of Michelin star restaurants to check my bucket list and did not disappoint. The location is flawless. The service, impeccable. The food was phenomenal. It was the best night EVER. The evening started with drinks. We ordered the non-alcoholic pairing to go with the menu. Course after course was an elevated experience with delicious bite after bite. The evening finale included tour of the back-of-the-house, meeting chef and signed copy of menu. My stomach and heart are so full. I can't wait to return. Highly recommend EVER!
If you love a great culinary experience, Ever is a must.
Everything was very intentional without being obtrusive or unapproachable. Highly attentive and knowledgable staff, open space while keeping an intimate feel.
Two Michelin star restaurant that offers a lifetime
Two Michelin star restaurant that offers a lifetime experience! We started out at their bar for some drinks before dinner. Nearing our dinner reservations we were lead through a spectacular what looked like a secret passage way, absolutely loved it. Every dish was unique with amazing flavors. We also did the wine pairing with each dish, highly recommended. I can't say enough about their staff and how professional and knowledgeable they were. Kitchen tour at the end was something special. What made this a cherry on top is we were joking if we can have some bread and butter to go lol because of how delicious it was. Being how upscale this place was we did not think some bread and butter was going to be included with our menus and chocolates.
Great food for the most part.
But don't ask me for an "additional tip" after I spent $900 and tipped 20 percent. Killed the night.
Suitably attentive staff but not obnoxiously so.
Wine service was great, and my companion got a nice extra birthday dessert. It's an investment for a special night and a special someone.
An extremely disappointing experience given the 2 Michelin
An extremely disappointing experience given the 2 Michelin Starts and the pedigree of the team. We moved mountains to be there and left extremely disappointed. Mind you this is not your every day type of dinner. Having been to Grace, I expected the same if not better. Things started out really strong then just went downhill. We had uncomfortable long waits between the last 4 courses. The manager approached to take us on a kitchen tour when we were still waiting on our last course. The tables next to us were offered coffee/tea during the dessert courses. We had to ask and then it took so long that they apologized while serving it. The restaurant was stunning, food good but you don't pay $500+ per person to be miserable. This should've been a perfect symphony but it was not. Perhaps they need to dine at Oriole and Alinea to see how it's really done.
From the moment we enter this restaurant we knew it was
From the moment we enter this restaurant we knew it was going to be very special. Every dish was meticulously prepared and every flavor shows the magnitude of work it requires to make it. From the general manager to the host and every waiter, our service was above and beyond. Our three year old daughter enjoyed a very special dinner and I wouldn't imagine it any other way than at Ever. Every wall texture, lighting, furniture's pieces are harmoniously combined to create a very peaceful and relaxed experience.
When you think of the concept of "unreasonable hospitality"
When you think of the concept of "unreasonable hospitality" I'm sure Eleven Madison Park pops into your mind. That novel should be based on EVER. Let me tell you. The most mind bending culinary experiments and novel concepts in service are happening far outside of NYC. They are happening in Chef Duffy's kitchen here in Chicago. I'm at a loss for words on how incredible the meal I had at EVER was. As someone who's extremely passionate about fine dining, EVER is at the top of the spectrum in every regard. Standouts for me were the tea sphere (YUM) and carrot terrine. If I had the money and ability, I'd be asking Chef Duffy to prep these for me on a daily basis. Let's talk about unreasonable hospitality. I shared with the incredible staff here my deepest darkest dirtiest desire... to shove log shaped meat in my mouth at all hours. And yes I'm referring to hot dogs (although I am gay). They gave me a printout with my take home menu of their favorite hot dog places (along with a ton of other GREAT options) I cannot thank the staff of EVER and chef Duffy enough for this once in a lifetime experience.
A great spot for a date
I took my girlfriend (as a splurge) to Ever and it definitely lived up to its hype. The service was great and the food was delicious. We couldn't figure out how they did it, but we couldn't hear the other tables- it seemed like we were in a bubble. I will definitely make this a yearly to-do.
You get what you pay for, and what you get is a lot.
Impeccable service. Attention to detail. 8-10 fantastic courses. The serving portions are appropriate and fill you up by the end of the evening. Each plate was paired with a nonalcoholic drink that served a purpose along the journey. The courses range from sweet to savory, from tart to earthy, from cold to hot. There were a few that were easy favorites and others that surprised me. The two clear winners were the Wagyu and the Scallop. The one that surprised was the maitake. Each dish played with the taste buds and was memorable in its own way. This is truly a must try dining experience.
We had a wonderful experience at Ever.
I got the nonalcoholic drink pairing and my husband got the wine pairing. The nonalcoholic drinks were very creative! The decor was lovely and very well-placed lighting. The service was exactly what you'd expect from such a well-rated restaurant. We had no complaints with the food, everything was very creative and delicious. I am also pregnant at the moment and they were very considerate and explicit about any adjustments that were made. I definitely hope to visit again!
Michelin......please provide Chef Duffy with his 3rd star......Ever is amazing!
This was one of the most enjoyable meals we have ever had, and every single detail was thought out and executed to perfection. The food is stellar, the presentation original and detailed. The service is top notch, formal but not overbearing, and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and timely. The cocktails we had at After, prior to dinner, were amazing and the bar was stunning and the vibe was cool. I can find fault in absolutely nothing, and for my birthday I cannot imagine a better option in Chicago. I believe they deserve the 3rd star, as we went to Le Bernardin for New Year's eve and this is every bit as good. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening, I can honestly say this was a perfect night. Cheers.
This two Michelin star dining extravaganza is a master
This two Michelin star dining extravaganza is a master class in service. The atmosphere is also just lovely....formal but not stuffy, contemporary and classic at the same time. The 10 course menu is truly art on a plate. And for the most part, the execution was something to behold. We did one wine pairing between the two of us and the wine experience was just spectacular. Not a single complaint on the selections and we just adored our sommelier. There were a few misses in my opinion which I will detail below. But first, the highlights: 1. The canapés served on a log centerpiece are delectable. Such an interesting presentation too. A great wow factor to start the meal. 2. The caviar course really worked. Beautifully plated and the textures were spot on. 3. The squash dumpling soup was also quite tasty and very pretty. 4. But oh that scallop... this was no ordinary scallop. The textures wowed and the flavors were balanced and interesting. 5. The carrot terrine garden plate was beautiful, but it lacked something.... Can't put my finger on it but it was not my fave. 6. Probably the single best course was the maitake mushroom-wow. 7. The king salmon was also pretty spectacular. I've never had this tiny piece of fish cooked with such deftness. Made me wonder how they achieve this delicate crispness with almost but not quite rare inside. Amazing. 8. The richest dish, and probably the one that has the most cache, was the most disappointing for me-the wagyu beef was too fatty (yeah I know it's supposed to be...but...) and the peanut accompaniment sort of puzzled me. 9. The eighth course is 1 of 3 desserts. While pretty on the plate, the rice pudding was chewy, not creamy, not particularly interesting and the four colored purées, while bright and interesting, just couldn't salvage this dish for me. 10. The frozen tea sphere with raspberry and chocolate was by far the best sweet course. It's a wonderful creation and really wowed. 11. Sadly, the last course was an attempt at a plain fresh donut with three sauces. And while the presentation is so cool, the donut is heavy, chewy and not to my liking. Feels like this one needs some refinement. Overall, the experience was quite something. We were given a tour of the kitchen while they were in mid service so that was fun. They are really proud of their work here. The service is absolutely incredible. My napkin dropped on the floor and before I could pick it up they gave me a new one. They really know how to do service here. I am not sure Ever lived up to my expectations. It's not the very high price tag that bothers me, it just felt that for that price and Two Michelin stars, the dishes that missed should have been a bit better. But if you're in town and looking for the best service and theatre on a plate, give it a try. We enjoyed it a lot.
Bravo to the team at Ever for the most fun and excellent
Bravo to the team at Ever for the most fun and excellent experience. These are just a few of the courses we enjoyed. If you want to see them all, make a reservation. Start to finish this evening wowed us and surpassed every expectation.
Perfection
We visited for our leap year anniversary as a couple and the menu was nothing far from perfection, the style and quality of food was some of the best I’ve eaten. The unity the staff have delivering food, wine and even the water. The service is exceptional and the maitre was excellent ensuring the evening went perfectly. It’s our first visit to Ever and I will travel from the UK to experience this culinary delight again 10/10 and 5*+
The most amazing experience ever 10 out of 10!
We ate here last night for Valentine’s Day. I cannot express enough how impressed I was with every single aspect of our experience. One of the best nights of our lives. The service was outstanding. It was like they choreographed their movements. Each person that came to our table was amazing. Not a single person was bad. The level of detail they took in providing service to us was outstanding. I wish I could remember our sommelier’s name because he was so pleasant and a wealth of information!! We shared the wine pairing because we don’t drink that much and it was more than enough for us. The champagne and a few of the wines were so good that I’m definitely going to buy them for myself!! The food was gorgeous and delicious. I’ve never eaten more flavorful food in my life. My boyfriend is a big guy and was concerned he’d leave still hungry. Nope. We were both stuffed. Pauline was our captain (the only employee with lines on The Bear). She was extraordinary. Truly a delight. It was definitely out of our comfort zone price-wise but the experience we had made it worth every penny. (It was about $1000 for the two of us with sharing the wine pairing) Ohhhh and ask for a kitchen tour!!! Wow!!! 10 out of 10!!! Thank you.
It truly hurts me to give this amazing place 4 stars.
The food and service were both incredible and the atmosphere was romantic and quiet. The best service and food I've had the privilege of experiencing. The food really stood out specifically when compared to Alinea. Hard not to compare them. But the food at Ever is just better. It's not technique for the sake of being technique. Where a star is lost is that Ever is known for their superb, world class hospitality and they had a slight miss that made us feel very... weird? They asked if we'd like to book a time at After prior to our dinner for a few cocktails. We said of course! And they forgot to book it. So we got to After and they looked at us like we didn't belong. We weren't "on the list." They did everything they could to make it right, but was just a weird feeling to start the night with. Overall, I truly recommend Ever and highly doubt that you have a slight slip like we did. Everyone has a bad day sometimes and if Ever's bad day is just forgetting to book us cocktail time... that's a pretty low stakes bad day.
We had the most perfect experience at Ever, celebrating our
We had the most perfect experience at Ever, celebrating our 20th anniversary. We knew it was going to cost a lot, but it was cheaper than a destination vacation, so we were ok with that! We opted to include the wine pairings and are so glad we did! The wine was all fantastic and worked so well with the dishes. I know only a little about wine, but was able to understand the matches and why they worked. Every glass was heaven. The sommelier was so, so down to earth and knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions and was such a great conversationalist, telling us the story of each wine, where it come from and in many cases, the people he knows that make it. Everyone knew our name, why we were there and made sure to keep us as happy as we could ever be. We were lucky enough to get a tour of the kitchen and meet Chef Duffy. The easy going personalities and obvious obsessive commitment to perfection in service was the same in the front of the house as the back. The food was unlike anything I've ever imagined. So many amazing combinations and simple, mind-blowing ideas. We had to slow ourselves down and just sit and taste everything slowly and intentionally because I could have just inhaled it all. The service of course was ridiculously good. Went to the restroom and came back to a fresh napkin. Greeted by name by everyone we interacted with. Synchronized water filling! It was all fun and magical and memorable. We are hoping to save enough to make it our annual anniversary celebration! It's with every penny. You need to think of it as an experience, not a meal. If you go in there thinking you are going to get $1,000 worth of ingredients you are mistaken. Everything is the highest quality it can be, but it's the ambiance, art, service, wine and food that bring it together to create a very worth it experience.
If this is how they treat customers HARD PASS
Booked this restaurant months and months ago and told them of my allergies then and today 2 days before out reservation was emailed and told they could not accommodate me. I was flying to Chicago for this and now am left scrambling to find a restaurant reservation. RUDE no matter how good your food is. I have eaten all over the world and have never been treated this way. It is ok to not be able to accommodate someone BUT tell them when they ask not last minute, thats the RUDE part. Needless to say I will never eat here nor will any of my friends.

EVER is brought to you by Chef Curtis Duffy, and the restaurant offers you a tasting menu that you'd have to make advance reservations for. I was excited to check this place out - a friend and I decided to check this place out when I was in town. Our menu for the evening included: +Mushroom - pineapple, soy, carrot top +Sea Grapes - hijiki, celery root, nasturtium +Asparagus - caper, cardamom, verbena +Cucumber - togarashi, sudachi, lemon balm +Carrot - finger lime, ginger, blue basil +King Trumpet - black olive, coffee, frisee +Fennel - black garlic, potato, endive +Cabbage - smoked coconut, hon shimeji, sorrel +Black Walnut - passion fruit, pineapple, citrus lace +Chocolate - kiwi, black tea, mint The presentation of the dishes were okay; we were disappointed, however, with the flavors, as we thought they just weren't there. Considering the 2 stars, we just expected better. Service was fine. The restaurant itself has a chic vibe to it with clean lines. Street parking can be found in the area. +lackluster tasting menu +street parking available
Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite restaurants in
Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. I keep waiting for Chef Duffy and Michael Muser to receive that third Michelin star. The food, the presentation, and the service are all off the charts incredible. A special shoutout to the sommeliers because one of the reasons this place is so special is because the wine pairings are also amazing. There is no point even referring to favorite dishes themselves because they change regularly and are all incredible. I come here once or twice a year when I pass through town and I have never been disappointed, EVER Thank you, Nick, Irving, Luke and Oscar! You and the rest of team will help Duffy and Muser with that third star.
This place is 2 Michelin star with good reason.
Everything in this place from the ambiance to the food is outstanding. We had drinks at their bar next door after. Beautiful setting that actually serves small plates as well so if your wallet can't stretch to the restaurant next door, try the food at After. Tasty, and to the standard of Ever down to their French fries! We naturally had the tasting menu. This was our second time here and I was pleased to see that the plates were more varied than the last time we came. There was a good selection of seafood and meats. The wagyu was outstanding. Everything was beautifully plated and the wine pairings were thoughtfully curated and complimented the food. Wait staff are very attentive and the sommelier was knowledgeable and happy to explain his wine pairings. Ever is pricy but if you have a special occasion, it's worth every penny.
Although this was not my favorite meal of 2023 - I believe
Although this was not my favorite meal of 2023 - I believe this was the best hospitality I experienced in 2023 and I will absolutely go back next time I am in Chicago. Logistics - Parking is pretty minimal and it's not the best part of town so I would encourage using a ride sharing app (Especially if you are doing the pairing). Attire - strong recommend going formal - slacks and button down minimum for gentlemen and a nice dress or pants equivalent for the ladies. Reservations - released two months in advance on the 1st Tuesday of each month. For example, April reservations will be released on the first Tuesday in February, etc. I opted to do the wine pairing with the tasting menu and the selections and the way they were presented were outstanding. I was a single diner since I was on a business trip and I did not feel uncomfortable in the slightest. The team was welcoming and engaged in conversation with me all night. The food courses were excellent, but the bread and butter pairing throughout were actually my favorite food aspect of the night. Make sure you stop by the restroom as well. The hospitality throughout really stole the show for me. I love and appreciate a kitchen tour. Ever was a kitchen tour and then I was able to watch and ask questions which was one of the highlights of the visit. My favorite part of the entire experience was the wine I was gifted when I left. I mentioned to the sommelier that the Sauvignon Blanc from the pairing was the best I have ever had, and when I left, they gave me a bag with a bottle to take home. Extremely thoughtful. My only regret was not having time to go to After, but I definitely will next time.
Bucket list ever watching For Grace at Seattle
Bucket list ever watching For Grace at Seattle International Film Festival in 2015. Ever while not Grace doesn't disappoint and not having researched Ever, the food was a total surprise. Every dish is like a familiar comfort food elevated with more intense flavors and wonderful presentation. Service is impeccable and I got a behind the scenes kitchen tour at the end. Personally I think they deserve a 3rd Michelin star unless they aren't consistent.
This has been on my bucket list for several years, and New
This has been on my bucket list for several years, and New Year's Eve was the perfect special occasion to enjoy a 2 Michelin starred experience. The atmosphere was understated elegance, chic and comfortable without any needless distractions from the artfully prepared courses you're served. The staff was so choreographed, I thought I was watching a production of the Joffrey ballet. We were immediately greeted, served a choice of champagne or an espresso martini, and shown to our table. The 3 hour experience flew by as we enjoyed 12 courses with 3 bread and butter pairings and a full wine pairing. I especially loved that they served only 1 meat course (Wagu which was superb), with the other main courses being seafood. I also loved that they served 3 bread pairings with truffle butter to accompany each of the main courses. The wine pours could have been a tiny bit larger, and I was hoping to shake hands with Curtis Duffy, but I won't let that spoil a night to remember.
One of the best of the best
My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Ever, our third visit to this amazing place. Every visit outshines the last. We have dined at several Michelin Star restaurants over the years (Trotter’s, Alinea, French Laundry) and, in our view, Ever is on the top of our list. The focus is on the food (no theatrics) and it shows, from the minimalist/soothing décor to every detail of the food preparation and its presentation. I had the pleasure to enjoy their wine pairing and our sommelier, Curt, really knew his stuff. From the wine region to his knowledge of the flavor and fragrance chemical components of the wines (esters & ketones, etc.), it was fun to explore his expertise and he indulged us. My wife does not drink alcohol and, true to form, Ever offered a non-alcoholic wine pairing. Fabulous! Be sure to ask for a tour of the kitchen as, with the main dining area, it is a work of art and it is really something to see the artisans at work. As for parking, there is free parking on the street (if available), a validated covered lot very close by or valet parking as well. Ever is not inexpensive, but if you are interested in dining in one of the top restaurants in the country, Ever is the place to go. We can’t wait to return.
Everlasting Great Food.
The fine dining Ever restaurant, enjoying a string of Michelin stars, is located on West Fulton in downtown Chicago. The food catalog compositions provide options to pick between vegetarian or meat and seafood filled tasting menus with 12-15 courses of delicacies that range from ctrhyo-frozen hamachi to sweet bay scallops. My favorite was a lamb dish with coffee, fennel and yarrow,,,,,,,,,and I fell for the sweet of sorbet over pineapple topped with black licorice. The design is provocative: leather seats, plush carpet, black ceilings, dark floors, warm rafts of wood and mood lighting add warmth to the environment. Next door is the 'After' cocktail lounge which is affiliated with the Ever crew. The Ever has great digs, great service and everlasting great food.
perfection!
Everything one wants in a Michelin tasting menu. Food and services were amazing. This had to be the best restaurant experience i have ever had and I am not new to fine dining. The recognized my mother was a lefty and organized her setting as such. never felt rushed. service and food were perfect.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
