Este Austin Reviews from The Last Year
We finally went to Este for the first time for our
We finally went to Este for the first time for our anniversary and everything was great. The champagne was a wonderful surprise and treat from our waiter. Possibly the best ceviche I've had in Austin. Wonderful service and atmosphere...we'll be back for sure.
I love the food and service and the ambience.
It's great restaurant. Definitely will be going back.

White peoples over priced Mexican food - turns out it isn't good after all. Service nor food is worth the price. For the $$$ you should be blowing me away. Never coming back and even worse - sad that I went.

Experience fresh seafood, vibrant Mexican cuisine, and the essence of charcoal cooking in a setting that encapsulates perfection. This establishment offers an impeccable fusion of interior design and culinary delight. My visits during happy hour were memorable, each offering a unique experience. From the happy hour menu, my husband and I indulged in delectable delights such as the guacamole ($8), unfortunately, the queso fundido is no longer on the menu ($12), served with their exceptional handcrafted tortillas, and the mouthwatering fish tacos ($15). We savored $2 off their signature cocktails and margaritas, complemented by their flavorful chips and salsa. A highlight was the unforgettable Carnitas Tacos ($18), a must-try but only available until 4:00 pm. The cocktails impressed not only with their taste but also with how they seamlessly matched the décor, a testament to meticulous attention to detail. The energetic and friendly staff enhanced our dining experience. The only disparity between my visits was during the second, when our 4:00 pm reservation led to the lunch menu being presented, with some dishes no longer available. Despite this, every dish we tried was exceptional, leaving us completely satisfied. Reservations are recommended, and valet parking is available for their private lot. Whether with friends, for a casual lunch, or a romantic date night, this place is sure to impress. You'll thank me later.
Just a great place for delicious food, wonderful atmosphere
Just a great place for delicious food, wonderful atmosphere and exceptional service. The tuna with carmelized onion glaze and very thin cut fried onion and topped with greens was delicious. The criispy chicken salad was flavorful the ribs sweet and juicy as they fell off the bones. And the Mac and Cheese with a duck fat confetti was really the star of the show!!! And they also have a great wine list but we stuck with their old fashions which were perfect. If I ever travel back to Austin it is on top of the return list. Recommended it to friends we were visiting.

I'll keep it short: Typical Eastside, hyped up, Remodeled interior that looks like every, single other restaurant within 10 miles. . No parking, but has "Vibes" Food. 2/5 Group of 4 from Austin. There are so many better choices for a fraction of the price. You're paying for "Vibes" and mediocre food, overpriced drinks, with grown ups that still wear sweatpants to dinner. There's no way we would ever come back, with all the other staple options but the staff were kinda, thrift store, cool vibe.
I hate having to give this place a not pleasant review
I hate having to give this place a not pleasant review because my expectations were high but met low. The restaurant is cute but like most Austin restaurants, parking is terrible so plan accordingly. We went during happy hour on a Thursday. It was already crowded 5 minutes after opening, the patio being almost full however we were sat immediately (inside). Our server was nice and very helpful. The items I ordered were : guacamole, machaca de tuna, cevichito, tostada de trucha, and the chorizo broiled oyster. The oyster was the only non happy hour item I purchased but was the best item, such great flavor. The guacamole was below average for my taste, just smashed avocado with lime- basic, no ground breaking flavor. The tostada de trucha was over glorified homemade tuna but I did enjoy the spice level. The cevichito was way too citrusy. The chunks of whitefish did taste like good fish though. The machaca de atun was not good. The smoked tuna mash texture with heavily fried/oily tortilla was not a good combo. We had ordered the fish tacos but never received them however, they didn't charge us so it was fine. Those looked good based off the table next to us. I also feel the menu was a tad misleading. They list "smoked tuna" and "oak smoked trout" but never mention it's not the cuts of fish you'll receive but rather mashed fish. For a coastal focused restaurant, it was really odd they create different versions of mashed tuna you make at home instead of amplifying good cuts of fish/seafood. Maybe I ordered the wrong items but that in itself shows there's only a select few items on an already small menu worth ordering.
Do yourself a favor and just go eat here.
It's phenomenal! There isn't a bad dish on the menu. I could lick each plate clean the food is so good. The tropical margarita is scrumptious. Treat yourself to a meal at Este! I can't wait to come back and eat everything off the menu. The ceviche, the aguachille, the tuna, good lord the swordfish tacos....i should have ordered another to eat them at home. The tacos have a nice kick of heat to them. I could bathe in the salsa. This place is just amazing. Oh and the whole fish is incredible!
My recent experience at Este was over the top! Our server,
My recent experience at Este was over the top! Our server, Jonathan, was exceptional at his job. He made us feel welcomed, shared tips about the food, and was very prompt and responsive. Este offers a fun, casual atmosphere with a great patio that would be nice to enjoy in good weather. They also have a garden where they grow some of their own ingredients. Food at Este is meant to be shared and I'm so glad! Sharing means I can try a little bit of everything. Our table of 5 ordered several items from the menu and everything was delightful. We all left very satisfied. I loved the ceviche and the braised fennel in particular. The fish in the ceviche tasted very fresh and the dish had a perfect flavor balance. I will definitely visit Este again, next time I'm in Austin. This restaurant can get busy so I recommend making a reservation. They offer complimentary valet parking at the side of the restaurant.
Went here on Saturday.
Blown away by their food and service. Everything was so full of flavor and what a creative menu. If you are into seafood, and like bold flavors, Este is a must try. Our favorite was the grilled mayan octopus, the carrots side and the pan seared trout entree. We sat at the bar. Both the bartender and our server were very nice, helpful and friendly.
Wow the food here is incredible.
Modern Mexican seafood is definitely up my alley so I was really excited to try this place. On a Friday night this place was busy. Lots of people waiting out the door and wait staff running around. Our food was especially especially slow. The tables next to us definitely got their food before us, so basically I got full off drinking water. Their take on chips and salsa is very trendy. Am a fan. We started with the half dozen oysters. These were so fresh and delightful. Loved the sauces it came with and each slurp was delicious. Also got the trout tostada which was so smokey and fresh and all the different items paired with it was amazing. The skate fish was so tender and fresh and fell off the cartilage. The sauce was very rich and creamy and heavy. Our neighbors who got the same dish had way more brussel sprouts than we did so not a fan of the inconsistency there. While I loved the fish, the sauce really was a bit too creamy and rich. We originally ordered the shrimp as well but after eating the skate fish it ruined the rest of our appetites. Overall, delicious food, wish the service was better.

I'm a little late to the Este party but I'm glad I finally
I'm a little late to the Este party but I'm glad I finally got here! We made a last minute decision to dine here on a Sunday afternoon and I was pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of tables available online. Maybe because it was rainy out, maybe I got lucky, I don't know! As the sister restaurant of Suerte, it's got similar vibes, but very much its own identity. We sat outside which was a covered patio, with both heaters and fans so good for all kinds of weather! We were a table of five and shared a bunch of things. The absolute standout was the Tuna Tiradito.. I mean wow, I've never tried anything like it. The smoky flavor of the salsa negra paired so well with the tuna. I would come back just to eat a plate of that by myself! The fish tacos were also 10/10, and I enjoyed the quesadilla as well - the filling was vegetarian, but the salsa macha served with it brought it to life! I ordered two drinks - the guavamente and the mint lemonade and I did feel like both were 90% ice. The guavemente was the only N/A cocktail and it was nothing to write home about; not worth $10 in my opinion. The fresh food and the vibes would 100% bring me back though.
Enjoyed flavorful, filling and exceptionally delicious
Enjoyed flavorful, filling and exceptionally delicious seafood this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary! We started with fish tacos and a tostada from the specials menu, it had poached shrimp/avocado/lime, was wonderful. The masa-battered fish in the tacos was SO perfectly crunchy outside and tender inside, not over-battered - perfectly balanced with the cabbage, salsa, and more lime juice! For our entrees, my husband went with the skate wing a la crema and he was *impressed* - we used every bit of tortilla to soak up the crema once he finished the fillets - will absolutely be having this dish again! As I am a south Texas costal transplant, I will always have fried shrimp if they appear on the menu! I went with the shrimp tostada and it was a great choice, the shrimp were delightful but I'm obsessed with the peanut salsa/guacamole/fried shrimp bite all together, such a unique combination for a tostada and it does not disappoint! Highly, highly recommend Este if you're looking for fresh seafood here in the hill country!

Ok so we're mega fans of Suerte and Fermín Núñez so when we finally got back to Austin we were determined to try Este! Did. not. disappoint. On the cocktail front, loved loved the Hoja en Blanco (truthfully had one too many, maybe... ). Chipileño also solid - would've liked it to be more coconut-y. I'd highly recommend... like 5/5... - Ceviche - the citrus carrot pepper chile oil is phenomenal - Tostada de trucha - it grows on you with every bite! - Trout a la pulla - crema was to die for - I don't love shrimp but we tried the Camarones "El Ricas" - I'm not sure I'm the eat with the shell type but it was interesting to try and the flavors were fantastic - Pastel de elote - WOW! another that grows on you with every bite We would pass on the fish tacos and the chorizo broiled oysters. Both were good, just not special enough to get again. Appreciated the terrific and attentive service. And the vibes were chill beachy with fun beats to spice it up. Fantastic spot! Will be back!

We've been meaning to try Este for awhile, but were so happy to have been able to tonight. Everything was excellent. Get the turbot, it's delicious. (You can fly to Spain for turbot, or come to Este... Let me tell you, it's easier to get to Este and it's equally delicious as if you were in Spain.)

This place was delicious! My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and we were pleasantly delighted. We ordered the tostadas for appetizers. I ordered fish tacos, they exceeded my expectations. 10/10

A great restaurant if you love seafood! All the dishes we tried were so fresh and they make their own tostadas in house that are amazing. The sauces that come with the tostadas were great - the green enhances flavors that are already there but the orange was a bit spicy, not overpowering but adds a kick. We started with the oysters - yummy! They were fresh but also pretty pricey. The brown sauce reminds me of soy sauce, I think a ponzu would have been amazing. The mignonette and Fresno hot sauce were awesome. Next up was the Este Ceviche. I felt like the fish had quite a fishy aftertaste and I ended adding a drop of the green sauce from the tostadas to each bite. The fish tacos were great! The salsa on top is HOT, I had to scrape off most of the sauce because it was super hot. If I got the tacos again, I would ask for the salsa on the side. The smoked trout was good - the veggies were super fresh as they came from the garden outside. Excellent seafood restaurant. I look forward to coming back and trying more of the menu!

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
