What a lovely spot! Came across this gem while navigating
What a lovely spot! Came across this gem while navigating the busy streets of London in search of a place to dine. Classically Italian with a menu that offers something for every taste. We were delighted to have opted for the tuna tartare special, a melt-in-your-mouth creation atop a bed of smashed avocado. Perfectly seasoned! We both chose the Risotto Funghi (mushroom) and raved that it was among the best we've ever tasted. Allowed the server to recommend the wines (a white and a red) as we weren't familiar with the wines on the wine list. Both were excellent. A shared Panna Cotta and a glass of Grappa completed this lovely meal. Service was also attentive making for a perfect experience!

SO happy to have found someplace that can make Cacio e Pepe! Everyone had a wonderful time. We will definitely return!

Excellent casio de pepe! Just as good as any I've had in Rome. The service was outstanding and the food was very delicious. The tiramisu was creamy and wonderful. The wine selection is abundant and can suit almost anyone's taste. They also have Moretti's for those who like beer. Will definitely recommend and return.
Be the first to ReplyNot impressed at all Edera, the food wasn't up to scratch
Not impressed at all Edera, the food wasn't up to scratch and the price tag was just too high. The restaurant itself is very nice. Exposed brick, intimate tables, clean, warm and comfortable, but you need more than a good atmosphere for a place to be good. I opted for the Sardinian grey mullet roe carpaccio starter, which came with artichokes and cherry tomatoes. This dish comprised of thin slices of sticky, tacky and chewy fish that seemed more smoked than fresh. The artichokes were browning, which I am not sure was due to age or to the very acidic dressing they came with. I thoroughly disliked this dish. The main was Char grilled fillet steak sliced with mash potato and rosemary oil and an avocado salad as a side, with green beans and spinach. The steak was delicious, it was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing, however the mash was very boring, just mash really and the sides were terrible. For some reason the avocado salad comprised of a very fine piece of avocado (I'd estimate about an eight of the fruit), lettuce and a quarter tomato cut into smaller pieces. It was completely pathetic. The beans and spinach were over cooked and frankly there wasn't anything exciting about them at all. For desert I ordered the selection of Italian cheeses. These were superb. Unlike most restaurants these came ripe (not straight from the fridge), and were very flavoursome. The plat consisted of 5 cheese types with 2 chutney types and bread sticks. The chutney was very plain and didn't have any particular flavour, and the bread sticks (fine slices of bread) where dry and cut too finely to be any use. There were also not enough of them for the cheese portion. At approx. £50+ for the meal alone (before wine etc.), it was a huge disappointment and I shall not be returning.
Be the first to ReplyI love this as it is my local restaurant.
It is very classy, everyone is well dressed and the staff are polite and punctual. The truffles are always good as is the veal. Similarly the wine is very high quality. I am not entirely sure why this restaurant is less than 4 stars in some peoples eyes. It is a small yet strictly professional organisation that among other locals I will always love.

My local favourite - and the most consistently excellent meals I have had in London. This is a local gem -- a place where chic Holland Park families, couples and friends come for a delightful experience. They menu changes throughout the year - if you happen to be there when they have the wild boar ragu, make sure that you order it -- it is spectacular. The wine list is excellent, with some amazing (and very reasonable) choices from Argiolas. The service is warm, and non-intrusive. The staff remembers me, my favourite wine, and greets me even on evenings when I am just walking home.Keep it up, Edera. You have won my heart

Food was OK, but definitely below the expected quality for the money - we've paid abut 120 for 2 people dinner w. wine.Service again OK, maybe slightly below average. In general, I would rather not recommend this place. It's OK but for the money you can get loads of better places in London.
Be the first to ReplyI went here for the first time about 7 years ago.
I remember it was nice. I went back a second time recently, and boy, was I disappointed. Too too long to seat us despite our reservation. Never offered tap water after the overpriced fizzy water bottle was finished. £12 for a small, unremarkable melanzane (auberjine) parmesean starter? Rip off £14 for an unremarkable veal Raviolo main course comprised of a mere 5 pieces of ravioli? More rip off. I wasn't offered parmesean cheese with my ravioli. The rest of our table began their meal (at my insistence) while I tried to flag someone's attention. I finally got someone's attention and asked for parmesean cheese and red pepper flakes for my ravioli (red pepper flakes are as italian as tomatoes, fer chrissakes). After 3 or 4 minutes the parmesean cheese came and left. I waited more minutes and finally flagged down the same member of staff to ask about the pepper. He said it was coming. Why didn't he tell me that when he brought the parmesean so I wouldn't assume it had been forgotten? A few more minutes and rather than dried pepper flakes they brought fresh chopped chile peppers. I can't fault them for trying but this isn't what people mean by red pepper flakes in an Italian restaurant. In total I waited nearly 10 minutes for both the cheese and the pepper, by which time my ravioli was nearly cold. Other annoyances: I was seated in the front, right next to the coffee grinder, so I occasionally had to listen to the sound of coffee being ground 2 feet away from my head. The menu is in a very small font and the restaurant was dark which meant I got a headache trying to read the menu. Use a bigger font, please? Most people don't have 20/20 vision. Also, a little discreet background music wouldn't hurt the atmosphere, and would be a nice distraction from the coffee grinder. There are too many better, less expensive or similarly priced restaurants nearby to excuse this bad experience. Won't be going back a third time.
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite Italian place.
Used to live just around the corner, and now when I am back in London I always make a point of coming by for a meal. They have black truffles year round. I would highly recommend the truffled beef carpaccio to start, then the risotto with truffles and a bottle of Casanaova Di Neri Brunello. Amazing.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is great, but the location is random.
I love this place for a last minute brunch party. Reservations are easy, and the Sardinian-influenced menu sets it apart from the many Italian restaurants, but the odd location paired with high prices makes it feel like a Holland Park elitist destination. There isn't much of an atmosphere, so it's best to bring your own party here, but it's undeniable that the food is spectacular, and the service is of the best.Truffle brunches (namely truffled eggs in any form) showcase Edera in it's best light, for sure. Check it out if you have the cash.

I ate here at the recommendation of the staff at the Kensington Hilton. Big mistake, since it took for-ever. The main was excellent, so I decided to order dessert. After 25 minutes, I tried to get the staff to cancel my order and get the bill, but they weren't paying attention to me. It eventually came, but 8 quid for a dessert that takes 35 minutes is a bit unreasonable.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is odd.
Very odd. Almost weird. The food is spectacular, don't get me wrong, in fact it's the reason I gave this place 4 stars. I think that just makes the whole thing even odder because you'd expect this sort of quality somewhere in Mayfair or Kensington. The first thing that was odd was the lighting. It's not dim or bright, it's just not very well lit. If it were coffee it would be neither an iced mocha nor a piping hot americana, it would just be luke warm coffee. We had to ask if they were open when we first walked in because the lighting made it seem as though they were packing up for the evening. The second thing were the staff. They were odd too. I was brought a bottle of Peroni in a wine glass. A wine glass filled to the very brim with beer... When it first arrived I thought I was missing a trick, that I didn't understand that this is how things were done in some exotic part of Italy that had escaped my travels and that they were native to. My table and I looked at the wine glass full of beer blankly, wondering how I would lift it to my mouth without spilling it, then at one another in search of reassurance that this sort of thing was in fact normal. It isn't, so I requested that the beer be poured into a pint glass or something of the sort. It was, and they were great about it, but it was kind of awkward asking them to do it.The third odd thing was the deafening silence. No music, no chatter, just silence. Take a book, you'll feel bad talking to your friends in here. I don't even know how we ordered our food the staff were so quiet. The fourth odd thing was the service. Honestly, this is not something I can explain without sounding mean. The service was good, very good, almost automated, but if you want a glimpse at a time when waiters are replaced by robots visit this restaurant. It was almost creepy. The fifth and final odd thing to me was the logo. This restaurant LOVE their logo. Personally it communicated more Greek or possible Spanish to me. And what is that thing inside the "D"? Is it a leaf or a fish? In fact, I'm surprised the food didn't arrive arranged in the shape of this restaurant logo. EVERYTHING was branded. From the wine glasses to the espresso cups. I'm surprised they didn't brand me as i left. They aren't even a chain! Brand is meant to be an asset, not something that alienates people. Very oddI want to be crystal clear about this restaurants food. It is amazing. Spectacular. Can't recommend it enough. I had fried squid and whitebait to start and the veal special for my main. I ended with a perfectly prepared (although heavily branded) espresso.Edera! If you're listening, lighten up (literally)! The food is amazing and the service is as efficient as a german car. Put some music on and celebrate being a great local with your customers.
