In general, this is a stunning boutique hotel especially the location, this was our second stay after having our honeymoon here in July 2021. We had a wonderful ground floor room with patio and stunning panoramic views, the cleanliness in the room perfect and because it was our wedding anniversary whilst there the half bottle of champagne on arrival in the room was a nice touch. The hotel itself is very clean and tidy with a lovely bar/restaurant with some of the best views you will ever see. On the whole the service was good although on the first morning breakfast was a little chaotic with staff running around like headless chickens, fair play Stuart steadied the ship and apologised for the tardy service and long wait for our food. My main and only criticism I have is echoed by another review on Trip by Surqueen, the food is ok certainly not as good as Ollies (a great loss to the Driftwood) very pricey and no where near enough choice, we stayed for 3 days and it changed just once and that's why we didn't eat with you on the Sunday night. When you are paying £70.00 for 3 courses you expect to see some changes to the menu daily and with the experience of the new chef that should prove very easy for someone of his calibre. Just because food is locally sourced which it should be anyway, doesn't mean you cant make simple changes. What we ate for dinner was very nice indeed but after the second night we didnt want to be eating the same on our third night so I cancelled our dinner reservation. On this basis which is real shame I wouldn't book longer than a two night stay, and it has now put me off booking for the New Year break purely down to the uncertainty of the menus/food. I would like to think over time the food choices will be back to the usual standards that it once used to be, having the tasting menu back would be a good start. This is a fabulous hotel no doubt about that, and certainly well worth a visit, we will return again in the future when hopefully these food issues have been addressed.
