Avoid if you have allergies
I have a nut allergy, even though the menu says the food can be made nut free, the servers didn't seem to know or care about this. After we pointed it out to them on the menu, I still got food (Bianca pizza with rice cheese) with nuts in it, and vomited as soon as I got home. Avoid at all costs if you have even a mild nut allergy. Most of the people I was with did not enjoy the pizza either, it was expensive and service was slow.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive Dinner
My wife and I had dinner here on the last night of our holiday and were a bit disappointed by it. I can see what Double Zero is trying to be and what it's trying to do but I'm not sure it works. It's more of a cafe/diner style place than a proper restaurant however the prices are expensive and, in fact, it was the most expensive meal of our holiday, even though we only had two courses. The prices don't seem to be in keeping with the surroundings. My wife said her starter wasn't brilliant and the service we received wasn't great either. The waitress said I could have something from the non pizza menu as a starter however it arrived well after my pizza. There were cardboard boxes lying around on the way to the bathroom and the overall impression of the place wasn't great. If you're going to charge high prices for your food you should make sure that your service and surroundings are commensurate with the prices that you're charging. Double Zero definitely doesn't get that right. For a city centre restaurant it also closed fairly early at 9. I'd say Double Zero could, and should, do better. If I'm in Boston again I'm not sure I'd return.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible vegan pizza!
Incredible vegan pizza, I am talking crispy crust, tasty ingredients, and great service. We got started with Sunflower Caesar, we were blown away with how well the almond parmesan created the perfect flavor profile. We then moved onto the Margherita and Truffle pizzas. The Margherita’s sauce was a little sweet at first, but the smoky taste that lingered was delicious. The Truffle pizza really took the show. The mushrooms and kale danced with the cashew cream to delight the taste buds. We are looking forward to returning soon.
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot...AND plant-based!
'Double Zero' offers a delicious variety of plant-based Italian-inspired menu choices that satisfied our group of 9 diners, including 2 little ones (5 and 8.) Service started a little slowly, but as soon as we started ordering they were on it! An excellent range of high-quality drinks (craft beers; sustainable wines) plus a neat mix of salads, starters, and pizzas all blended together beautifully for a fine early dinner. The setting is quiet and quaint smack-dab in the middle of Newbury St. Highly recommended whether you're vegan or not! *I feel like those older, "hater reviews" must have come before some serious changes to 'Double Zero', as I read them and nothing there relates to my experience. (OR maybe they're just 'haters'!)
Be the first to ReplyGood food and atmosphere, friendly service.
Very pleased with my meal, service and the atmosphere. Love the open kitchen concept. I had the eggplant parm and meat balls.(vegan)
Be the first to ReplyThere is better vegan in Boston
The Good:
-Our foursome showed up 10 minutes before our reservation time and were immediately seated even though the restaurant was very busy.
-The aesthetics were pleasing and the aroma from the kitchen was great.
The Bad:
-Of the three cocktails on the menu, they were out of all three. Out of the two desserts on the menu, only one was available. They were also out of a couple of the wines. None of this was shared with us before we ordered, so it got to be a bit frustrating. On a large menu, this would not be noteworthy, but their menu is extremely limited. Perhaps doing a daily or weekly menu would lead to less confusion.
-The pepperoni pizza was SWEET. Not just a little sweet, but like creme brulee pizza sweet. With a vegan and vegetarian in the family, we have had many opportunities to have faux smoked meats, and this was probably the worst we had ever tasted.
-Service was EXTREMELY slow. Not just Pandemic Slow, but neglectfully slow.
The ugly:
-After we waited...and waited...and waited...for our pizzas, we got the attention of the manager who shared with us that some of the waitstaff were just taking items ready for pickup from the kitchen even though the items weren't theirs to pick up ...they were trying to get them for their tables to shorten those folks' wait times. Apparently our waitress had not gotten the memo that it was every server for themselves. Luckily (?) the manager then intercepted someone else's pizzas for us.
Very good pizza...
This was my first visit to this location. The pizza is just as good here as dining at the other locations. Thin pizza, nice charred crust--I had the potato pizza with cashew cream--it was excellent, the sunflower Caesar was also worth it too.
Be the first to ReplyNOT GOOD
The food was lousy - save your $ and avoid this place completely. The good was not edible and tasted really bad - ordered the gluten-free pizza with pepperoni and it was lousy.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent all around
Reading the reviews from last year, I assume they had some staff or management issues, but I've been there multiple times in the last 4 months and it is one of my favorite places. Staff, service and food has all been excellent. The eggplant Calzone is one of my favorite food items anywhere, hands down.
Be the first to ReplyGreat pizza
I stumbled across this place whilst looking for somewhere else and I was lucky I did. Always great went you find a place by luck and it turns out to be great
Service very efficient helpful and friendly.
My truffle pizza was excellent
New beers to me which was good
It was very quiet when I arrived at around 5pm but a hour later it was packed and there was a good atmosphere
Thanks

Worst restaurant in Boston
Evitate a tutti i costi
Terrible service, ok food, nice interior
The only good thing about the restaurant is interior, it looks good and it is new as restaurant is just opened.
People are rude.
If you show up 10 mins before opening they tell you to leave not to wait for 10 mins and that they will be happy to serve you.
If you sit on one side of long table with your friend in empty restaurant they ask you to sit across the person so more people can sit by he table.
You get the idea - sit with your mask on and patiently wait for your food while listening to rap that inform you on how people call some other people they have an intimate relationship with.
Waste of time and money
Service is unpleasant and unwelcoming.
Interior was good, but atmosphere created by staff is just terrible. I was hoping that the food will make it. But, unfortunately, can’t say nothing good about the food either. Pizza was burnt.
Absolutely awful service. Avoid at all costs
If I could give this place ZERO STARS, I would. The service was the worst I’ve ever experienced. Place was empty and it took 45 minutes to get drinks. App for ordering food didn’t work so again couldn’t get service or food. Our desserts never arrived and we had to ASK THAT THEY BE REMOVED FROM THE CHECK. Management acknowledged how awful the service was but did nothing to compensate us. BONUS: shared this review on Instagram with the chef behind the restaurant, Matthew Kenney. He told me someone from his team would be in touch. Weeks have passed and no follow up. BEST PART: someone from his team deleted my post about their lousy service. And when I pointed out as much, he just ignored me. Please don’t patronize this restaurant, your money is better off being spent anywhere else.
