The vibe at this place is incredible.
It's like the best parts of Newport Beach and then add extreme amounts of chill island vacation vibes! It's hard to get a table here but with drive and determination it can be done. We were able to snag a corner seat right up against the sand and water. This was heaven. Weather 72 degrees with gentle breezes. Food was tasty and fresh. Good burgers. Fresh oysters and poke. Tasty carne asada burrito. Try not to focus on price point but where you are sitting and just feel lucky to be sharing this space where seating is limited but the gorgeous views are not. Service was excellent considering our server was responsible for a large area of tables. This is a place you want to linger so be patient with your server. No rush. The ambiance is amazing. Enjoy.

My wife said Descanso beach club was a mandatory go from what she's heard. We went & it DID NOT disappoint. The ambiance and food exceeded all the hype!
Fantastic experience
We took a cabana and enjoy a great day there. Roberto and Raul took excellent care of us. Checked on us several time ensuring everything was great.
Best First time experience
The lounge chairs were so comfortable, and had a great beach access for the kids to play in the water while the hubby and me enjoyed some margaritas. The service was awesome! Special shoutout to Roberto. My daughter left her apple watch behind and he went out of his way to Fed Ex it back to us. It was our first trip to Catalina and it was a very nice experience.

A great way to spend the day with other like-minded folks on the sand. The chairs are comfortable and the staff are attentive and it's easy to request something. If not a cabana, would recommend getting there early and seeking chairs at ends of row. The "welcome" banana smoothie was good.

Our server, Oceana, was dismissive and rude. When we asked her to check with the manager if we could use the beach chairs at the end of the day after paying for a cabana, she instead sent security, who told us to leave. When we finally spoke with the manager Roberto, he was unapologetic and showed no concern for customer service. Oceana even said directly to me that "she does not give a shit." Ownership should reconsider their management. Great place, poor service.
Awful customer service
I visited Catalina Island to celebrate my 30th birthday with friends and reserved a Hillside Cabana at Descanso Beach Club. While the food and drinks were great, our experience was completely ruined by shockingly poor customer service. At 4:30 PM, we moved to some beach chairs to get some sun before leaving at 5 PM. A server said it was fine, but soon after, an employee named Oceana rudely told us otherwise. She said she'd check with the manager, Roberto, but instead, a security officer, Edmund, came and told us we couldn’t stay. Edmund was understanding and said he’d talk to Roberto, but later returned saying Roberto had refused to let us stay and wouldn’t even come to speak with us. Determined to understand the issue, I sought out Roberto myself. He confirmed the chairs were reserved but had failed to explain this earlier, leading to unnecessary confusion and frustration. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, Roberto responded aggressively, and Oceana, standing beside him, dismissively said, “I don’t give a s***.” This was not just disappointing—it was an appalling display of customer service. The blatant disregard for our experience and the rude, unprofessional behavior of the staff was shocking. This is absolutely unacceptable for a luxury venue like Descanso Beach Club and completely ruined my 30th birthday celebration. I expected much better and am deeply dissatisfied with how we were treated.
To be honest, the place was a bit mid.
The food was okay and there were no servers so we had to place/pick up our food order at the bar. While I was not impressed with my experience there (tik tok gave me fomo so I made it a priority) the buffalo milk was good.
Excellent location and facilities
We loved the location, it’s off the beaten path from the busier downtown. Past the Casino/theater. It’s a good walk/hike. Changing rooms & facilities are pretty nice and they’re located strategically. Beautiful setting, I was off swimming in no time at all in the ocean! A fitting name Descanso … a place to rest.

wow wow wow ! this place is such A VIBE If you're looking for good drinks and a relaxing time in Catalina, I would highly recommend Descanso Beach Club. We were taken care of by Danny, who was an amazing cabana host. He elevated our experience by being so attentive / recommend a few drinks + apps. We went for the chips & salsa ( chips were fresh and the salsa was flavorful). Thank you to all the staff at Descanos Beach Club for going above & beyond. We will most definitely come back and visit soon.
Romantic weekend getaway
Little gem for a romantic weekend getaway, rustic reclusive small resort on St Catalina Island. We mainly dined in Avalon. There is not too much to do on the island. Snorkling is good.

Note: I went here during the off-season so I can't vouch for the $2 fee. This beach club is very beautiful with access to a clean beach with calm little waves. I went on a perfect day, it was a little windy but not too hot and not too cold. We walked into the seating area where we were greeted with a menu and a friendly server named Pablo. We automatically went for the drinks - The Original Buffalo Milk - (10/10) this exclusive Catalina Island drink is a must try when visiting. It comes with Creme de cacao, banana liqueur, vanilla ice cream, nutmeg, banana chips, and Tito's vodka (this alone was what made me want to try this). It is on the sweeter side, but beauty of this drink makes people turn heads and ask the bartender "what drink does she have?" - strawberry margarita with patron silver - (11/10) I just want to thank the bartender for being ever so generous and giving my mom an excellent pour of the patron. You are an angel on this earth. She left that restaurant all happy. For the food: - DBC burger: (8/10) - this cheeseburger was delicious and the fries were alright, my only downsides were that the lettuce and pickles were on the side, and that it was a little red in a certain spot and not well done. But to be fair, I don't remember if I asked for it well done - so that's on me, so hence the 8/10. - burrito (10/10) it was surprisingly very filling, my mom loved it. I didn't get a chance to rent a cabana only because we didn't see the point - we were only going to be there for a little while so we spent most of the time exploring but on our next visit we'll be sure to check it out and give an update review. Overall this is the perfect place to chill during the off-season. its not as crowded as the main area and its away from most of the tourists.

I visited a couple times during my stay on the island, the first being for a drink and snack, as well as another day for an excursion with their rental equipment! The beach is a nice little destination if you want things a little more quiet when you're laying on the sand. Hanging out on the sand, if you're doing no other "business" there, is just $2/person, which I would gladly pay considering how nice the space is and the fact that I think that grants access to the showers (cold water) and restrooms. We laid out after having our drinks, and some chips and salsa, and it was a comfy space to take a quick beach nap. The chips were fresh and crispy, and the salsa was this fantastic medium creamy kind of salsa. The drinks were tasty! The equipment rental was a really enjoyable experience, as well. We got a 4-hour rental of a kayak and snorkeling gear, and it was well worth the deal we got, being the early bird special! Staff was friendly and helpful, and made me feel like my questions and needs were welcomed and that they genuinely wanted to help, and not like I was being a bother in any way. The equipment was generally great quality, and anything that wasn't perfect was fixed as soon as it presented itself. We were sent out with everything we could possibly need, including bottled water and water shoes. The "desk" staff was caring and really attentive to the details, and met any needs that were brought to her attention. Start time was strict because it was relevant to the special price, but once we were all geared up, the club was forgiving about the end time being a little looser, considering that it was a quiet day of the week. Over all, the Club is easy to access, open to all, and highly accommodating!

Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
