Food was incredible in this small restaurant The worst part of the place is that they are understaffed The staff they do have hustled from tables to table I really enjoyed this place
Be the first to ReplyDelicious and authentic cuisine.
I highly recommend this restaurant as your first introduction to Indian food. This was my first experience and every single dish was amazing
Be the first to ReplyLoved cumin, amazing rice naan chicken.
Will definitely be back and great quick service
Be the first to ReplyOrdered a Shahi Lamb Korma and Chicken Momos.
The korma was really good. Highly recommend. The Momos was a bit dry. Wish it was a bit more juicy. Overall a good experience. Will order again!

This place is great and the food is superb! They need to do a little more with the decor and add some music to set the atmosphere a little better. We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyGood Indian food at reasonable prices in an inviting space.
The wait staff was attentive and helpful.

Cumin is a great spot in Wicker Park to get Indian/Nepalese food. All the food came out really fresh. The highlights were the garlic naan, chicken Tikka masala, and bhindi masala (okra). No reservation was needed on a weeknight dinner. The food was delicious but the price point seemed a bit high for the amount of food.

Below average taste and kabobs were uncooked and had 0 flavor Very commercial place, rice was not complimentary with the main curries I would not recommend to eat here. Lamb curry was good. Chicken tikka- negative Dal tadka- edible Bhindi masala- had less bhindi and more green pepper lol Please see pics attached Expensive and not worth the money

I give this place a good review - the food was fantastic and the portions of protein were not skimpy It's reasonably priced for the amount of food and leftovers tasted even better Has a decent wine list and bar

Be the first to ReplyAwesome restaurant if you are a lover of Indian food.
Yes, more expensive but well worth it. Cumin is my favorite Indian restaurant in Chicago and the suburbs. It is really not convenient to where I live and yet I still make the trip half a dozen times a year. Fantastic dal makhani! Decor is nothing to write home about, but the chicken tikka masala more than makes up for it. Plus, you can get goat! How many places can say that?
Be the first to ReplyI dรฎned here today and all around enjoyed my experience.
I arrived right after they closed (which I discovered afterwards) they let me sit down despite such fact. The food here is to die for! I got the Paneer Tikka Masala paired with white rice and naan! SOSOSO good!! Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyThe food is good.
The prices are high. We ordered for pick up to avoid having to wait for delivery. When I showed up there were 10 other people waiting for their orders. I don't know why this place would tell you that they'll have it ready at a certain time when they clearly cannot handle it. I will never order from here again.

The vegetable samosa and chicken pakora appetizer was very good. We had the chicken creamy curry (yellow) and the chicken hot tangy curry (red) entrees which were both very good. The creamy curry dish was better. We had a side of basmati rice and garlic nann bread. Service was fast and the food was fresh.
Be the first to ReplyWe usually get the chicken tikka masala, chicken 65, garlic
We usually get the chicken tikka masala, chicken 65, garlic naan, and a wild card. The chicken tikka masala is verrrrry good, creamy, and nice robust flavor. It might be my favorite chicken tikka masala in the city! The chicken 65 is inconsistent. The first time we had it, it blew our minds and it's what actually hooked us! Since then, we've ordered it every time hoping to have the same experience, but are often disappointed. Sometimes it's too dry, sometimes it's too salty. It has never been as good as the first time. The wild card dish we had on our most recent visit was the chicken momo. I wouldn't get it again. The filling wasn't very good and the dough was thick and dry. I was between 3 and 4 stars because aside from the chicken tikka masala, nothing else is consistently good. But Cumin is still one of our go-to places for Indian food, and I'd come again despite the limitations. Just beware, the food is pricey for the amount of food and the entrees do not come with rice. We've never dined in, only gotten carry out.
Be the first to ReplyCumin is a great Indian option in Wicker Park.
We've been frequent takeout customers and come by the restaurant a few times. The staff are all incredibly friendly and the location on Milwaukee is really convenient. Cumin's curry selection is top notch with a ton of different bases to chose from. I love that they put a lot of effort in their bases so all of them have distinct flavor profile. They have a wide variety of vegetarian dishes as well. The momos and dumplings on the menu are less common at Indian places. Compared to other Indian restaurants, cumin is very pricey especially for the portion sizes. They don't include rice for free and the staff sometimes has been bit pushy on pushing it when we worded. Cumin is one of the best Indian options in Chicago. Definitely a must try.
Be the first to ReplyFirst and foremost I will say the food is absolutely
First and foremost I will say the food is absolutely delicious. But the quality of service and small size portions left more to be desired. We came early on a Friday evening and got seated quickly. We got our orders taken shortly and from there the wait started. We waited almost an hour until our food came out!! We even checked with our server prior to see if our food was coming and kind of got brushed off. I was pretty disappointed at how long we had to wait, and even more disappointed that the staff didn't really seem to care. The restaurant wasn't even super packed at this time so I'm not sure what the hold up was. For our food we got the butter chicken, chicken biryani, matar paneer, and garlic naan. All of the food was delicious and flavors on point. The chicken biryani might have been my favorite - it's probably the best chicken biryani I've had in Chicago. However, I was a little disappointed at the small portion sizes, considering the price of each dish. Really wish I could have enjoyed this place more, since the food really is delicious. Would love to see some improvements in service and more fair portion sizes.

Terrible food I am south Asian myself and I know what authentic Indian food or Himalayan food is and this was not that very bland.

Food was excellent, almost as great as Tandoori house in Tinley park. Prices were high for amount of food served. For example $5,25 for a mango lassi, (average price is $3) chicken tikka masala was $18. End of meal (2) golub jamun was $5, I am used to 4 pieces for $5Naan was probably best I have ever eaten though. Total for two was $81, again that normally feeds 4 back home wont be back.
Be the first to ReplyI am in love with Indian food.
ย This is by far the best I have found in Chicago. ย I brought my "suburban" parents who think Coopers Hawk is fine dining. They had never experienced Indian food, and told me to take control. ย I ordered the Vindaloo, a mild Tikka masala, toms of Naan, and samosas. ย I asked for extra chutneys, and they provided. ย I'm not kidding. ย My Irish mom, and German dad, had their eyes rolled back in their heads. ย They said it was the best meal they have ever had. ย Thank you Cumin, for letting me introduce beautiful Indian cuisine to two "foodies", who think chicken Parmesan is exotic.

Have been looking for a solid Indian delivery and may have found it. Excited to keep trying more of the naans and poori options. Don't get the Mango Lassi.Chicken Tikka Masala - 3.5/5. Tasty sauce, bit runny and the chicken was fine. But the sauce is the key and it worked.Mutter Paneer - 3.5/5. Very pea heavy in flavor but it works well all together.Poori - 4/5. Simple but tastySweet Peshawari Naan - 4/5. Quite fun with a sweet twist.Garlic Naan - 3/5. Comparatively boring to the Poori and Sweet Naan.Mango Lassi - 1.5/5. Off in texture and flavor. Very thin and just not that saffron flavored.

Really disappointing, as someone who's tried at least 10 of the Indian restaurants in Chicago.. I thought that Cumin would have stood up to most of them if not any of them. But.. the portion size and prize is ludicrous for what you get. The nan was soggy, the curry was bland, and the samosa crust was ย breaking apart from the filling.
