Not the experience you think you are paying for
It wasn’t the experience we expected. The gent you check in with is young and rude-no smile. Maybe it’s the price point. We made the reservation almost 20 days in advance for a romantic birthday dinner. They never acknowledged the birthday, our food came out cold, we had to keep asking for more water, and it totally wasn’t what you would expect for the 5 star price point.

Average, but overpriced. I was a fan of Crustacean in years past but my visit this week was underwhelming. The garlic noodles seemed almost bland, salt and pepper calamari was good, but average. Prices for both seemed a bit high. Likely won't return as the flavors seemed to be missing. Service was good, but the dinner was unremarkable.
Be the first to ReplyBest meal in La!
Outstanding meal, service and ambiance! Highly recommend this restaurant! We loved every dish, wine and dessert. Fantastic service!

Average food. Dumbed down Vietnamese. Poor cocktails. OK service.. Ridiculous prices. Would rather have eaten somewhere a little more authentic.
Be the first to ReplyBeware, this restaurant is experience major problems.
Visited Crustacean on July 2, 2023 for dinner for a 70th Birthday celebration . This has always been one of my favorite restaurants but this evening the restaurant was so not functioning. Waited 20 minutes for cocktails and they were wrong. Waited over an hour and half for appetizers and they actually forgot 2 dishes. Dinner arrived and they forgot one dinner so one in our party had to wait 20 minutes for their dinner, by that time, all the others had finished their meal. Then it was time for desert and this time 2 out of the three deserts were forgotten. They did not get one course correct. The service was the worst I ever experienced in any restaurant, yet alone one at a restaurant of this caliber. I will not be returning nor will the other 3 couples that joined me. The service was so bad, that no one really enjoyed their food and it ruined the 70th birthday celebration. Beware this place is terrible.

We started at the bar for a coffee the bartender passed us a menu had to try the food it was on point outstanding being a chef myself I’m fussy no fuss there. Our drinks were also out standing the dragons daughter great. Mix a awesome experience thank you will be back
Be the first to ReplySpectacular
Amazing food - supposedly French Vietnamese but frankly it doesn’t really resemble that (compared to French Vietnamese in Vietnam for example). But food is just amazing we had the crab garlic noodles and the lobster garlic noodles - absolutely perfection. Had mussels to start. Also just awesome. This restaurant absolutely gets it right. Service was also amazing. Server served us food given that it was a business dinner. So proactive - almost never seen before.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not fabulous
Went to Crustacean for a celebratory dinner with my wife. We ordered a couple of their “small plates” along with their Lobster and Garlic Noodles and House Special Crab. Overall our experience was good, food quite tasty just missing the level of service and ambiance to put it in a Top Restaurant category and certainly not worth the $500 for dinner for 2. Good but not fabulous.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food!
Fabulous experience. The food was excellent and the service great. Drinks and cocktails were good so had a really enjoyable evening. We had the appetiser tree where the waiter chose us a selection - all were excellent. Highly recommended and will definitely return on our next trip to LA.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful spot and wonderful staff.
Stopped in here for lunch without knowing anything- just on a whim. Was totally blown away with staff, food and ambiance. It's a beautiful restaurant- you can view Koi fish through the floor! Food was wonderful- recommend the tuna cigars- they taste every bit as good as the extra special presentation.
Be the first to ReplyAwful service - at the bar
My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and the service was awful. I don't know who the bartender was, but he was rude and hit on me when my boyfriend was in the bathroom. Made me so uncomfortable. I will not be going back. EVER.
Be the first to Replya changed dining experience
Diners familiar with the old, lavish Crustacean may be taken aback by the restaurant's new, pandemic-induced makeover. Gone is the corner entrance from which guests traveled across a glass-covered stream into a dining room inspired by mid-century Indochina. The new dining room is considerably smaller and less atmospheric, indistinguishable from any number of other high-toned establishments. Fortunately, the food remains at a very high level -- even if the menu is greatly reduced. We made do with a plate of select appetizers -- crab puffs, avocado crisps and a very tasty and unusual black truffle potato "egg" -- that more than satisfied our appetite. Service has slipped from pre-covid days, leading to longer waits between courses, but an excellent wine and cocktail menu help pass the time.
Be the first to ReplyLacked luster
We have been here several times, but this was the first daytime experience. The service lacked luster and the dessert was awFul. I think you should come in the evening…otherwise, skip it.

While the food was good, when it finally arrived, it wasn’t enough to elevate a terrible experience. After waiting 30 minutes after our reservation time, we were finally seated in an afterthought table next to the bar. It would take another 45 minutes to get the first sign of food. This is after I flagged down our waiter and begged to eat something. He brought one course and then our amusé bouche finally appeared next. The rest of our food finally started appearing. My husband claimed the dining room proper looked nice when he went in to use the restroom. I wouldn’t know. We did get a complimentary dessert to share for our troubles…
Be the first to ReplyAs good as I remember
Hadn’t been here in a long time, so since things were starting to open up after the pandemic we decided to check it out for old times sake. There was outdoor seating only but no avail or heaters which I thought was odd.. The service thought was excellent our waiter was very nice. There was complimentary champagne upon arrival and a free appetizer Had the special crab and the garlic noodles. The carb was ok for $70 but the garlic noodles were very tasty. The drinks were also strong. This place can get pretty crowded so we were fortunate to catch it before things really opened up. I suggest a reservation or go during lunch. Also there is only valet parking so be prepared to walk if you happen to find parking on the street
Be the first to ReplyFood was excellent (!) and
Food was excellent (!) and the patio is nice with the restaurant showing a high level of Covid care, (like plastic wrapped, and paper ringed napkins... but who placed the rings and plastic? Ha Showy Overkill, no?) but our server was woefully ignorant about the options marked “gluten free” with symbols on the menu— gf option or just gf?— and I was “glutened,” which any celiac or intolerant sufferer knows means “I felt like I was hit by a Mac truck for three days.” How awful! Our “very, very slightly dirty” martini was ash brown in color and had to be sent back... it was just overall a miserable experience despite delicious food.
Went from Fantastic to Average Non Covid19 compliant
Sad to report as this used to be my favorite restaurant. I've always ordered the Ans special cracked Crab & garlic noodles & never have been disappointed. Both were just blah this time. Maybe it was because I ordered it out of the shell. Prior they served it cracked it so it can easily be removed from the shell. It tasted like the crab meat was sitting there for a while. The garlic noodles were .just slight of mushy. We ONLY came to this restaurant because their website boasted Covid19 compliance with about 9 tables separated with plexiglass and plexiglass pieces on the table. This was not the case. The only ones with plexiglass dividers were the ones on Bedford. They had at least 20 tables lining Santa Monica Blvd, none with plexiglass. When I complained that the person behind me was 2' away, the mgr said that the tables had to be 6' apart, not the chairs. A party of 25 came parading in & were were crowded for about 15 next to our table. The Waiter did nothing. He could not even fit through and had to go out onto the sidewalk to serve. Finally, I got up via the sidewalk which was bordered by plants & found the manager. I told him this was unsafe and unacceptable and I was going to report him to the CDC. He came by and yelled at the people as if it was their fault! It was not! They should have kept them outside and sat them down when they had the space. These people were on top of one another and most were NOT wearing masks. I would NEVER come here again.

Beautiful, Elegant, Refined.
Beautiful, Elegant, Refined. The only way I know how to describe an evening at Crustacean in Beverly Hills. We went here for my mama’s birthday. Only the best for such an amazing woman. This is the kind of place you take that special someone in your life, where money ain’t a thing, and all you want is a fantastic dinner served in the most elegant of all places. I would definitely celebrate an anniversary or a birthday dinner for two here at Crustaceans. Don’t even think about not ordering the Dungeness crab and garlic noodles. I’d say those are the two most requested dishes here at Crustacean. They pair so well together I couldn’t imagine ordering anything else!
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Food and Excellent Service
We met up with 2 other couples for a lovely dinner. Found the valet service unnecessary as we easily found parking in the structure almost across the street. They do not open the doors until 5:30, so don't try to get there early for a drink in the bar. We were seated happily in a long table with both bench seating and chairs. Thankfully we were far enough away from the outdoor seating which is just a tented patio with some heaters as it was a cold evening. Our cousins remarked that it does not have the same ambiance that the restaurant held prior to their remodel.
Our waiter, Sean was excellent. We enjoyed all sharing a few of the appetizers platters which had excellent choices. We were told that we had to order An's garlic noodles. I ordered the grilled prawns which came with a VERY ample portion of noodles. I shared them with my husband who order the crab, out of the shell. Even shared it was a lot...and delicious! Others at the table had lobster, crab and filet. (Yes, you can have something other than seafood or fish). For dessert we enjoyed the Coconut Dream...and it was! Our cousins ordered the ice creme made at the table...amazing to watch them freeze the fresh vanilla bean and creme! A really fun experience which added to a special evening!
