Perfect. As good as we have had anywhere.
First impression: delightful and charming welcome from front of house, just the right balance of professional and personal. We were given a table in the window. The menu is 100% focused on local and seasonal, so you know it’s going to be fresh and good.
We opted for mussels for me and scallops for her. She got three delicious scallops in a wonderful sauce, and I got the best plate of moules I have had anywhere ever, plump and tasty and with the most superb broth.
For our main we decided to share the seafood platter and for our appetites it was spot on. Beautiful lobster, razor clams, palourdes, mussels, all unbelievably good.
Finally, we each had an affogato, made with local honeycomb ice cream, which was as marvellous as everything before. She had Prosecco and Picpoul, I had Doom Bar Zero, and the bill was £100, which I thought was a straightup bargain for what we had.
Absolutely recommend in every way.

Little, cosy, family run restaurant which quite rightly prides itself from serving fresh, local, seasonal food, with an obvious prevalence of fish.
The owner, Carol, is lovely and passionate about her job, and all staff are kind and helpful. They are also smart enough to put a couple of extra menu boards in nearby locations, one near the train station which caught my attention in the first place.
The menu is limited in size, yet creative with a nice variety of choices: two good signs. The wine list is adequate.
I had a special which consisted in sea bass with lobster sauce, pommes Anna (layered spuds), asparagus and saffron aioli. The portion wasn't too big but the dish was really tasty and deliciously prepared and presented. I couldn't resist asking for a top up of the saffron aioli, which didn't survive the last slice of bread remaining - tasty bread was happily provided on request.
I am not one with a sweet tooth but I was tempted by their chocolate mousse with raspberries and a couple of amaretti - delicious. Carol had unsuccessfully tried convincing me to go for the vanilla ice cream with honeycomb (from her family's bees), so at the end she brought some of that honeycomb for me to taste, and I enjoyed it - as not too sweet - although not a massive fan.
A beautiful experience, well done!
Good Food
Booked last minute as struggled to find good place to eat in Penzance and reviews good.
We were not disappointed had the Crab linguini and my wife had the chicken both were very good and the staff were all friendly and efficient .
If you enjoy good food at reasonable prices probably best place in Penzance
Phenomenal!!
Wow, just got back from our visit to Cork & fork. Glad we booked, it was full and we could see why! Staff were all welcoming engaging and informative..nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Scallops and Mussels starters were sublime, followed by the Shellfish platters...words fail me to describe how wonderful it was. Lobster tail, prawns, clams, razer clams, crab, salad, chilli oil, aioli, butter, incredibly fresh bread...it just worked! Not usually ones for desert, we were too tempted by the vanilla ice cream with honeycomb from the owners partner's bees which was perfectly paired with espresso. And a chocolate raspberry and amaretto mousse. Best meal I have ever had...look forward to visiting again if ever back in the area. We have visited other local places ranked higher on TripAdvisor during our visit this week.... and are confused how Cork & Fork is not top. Book and visit....soon...you won't be disappointed!
Be the first to ReplyGreat family restaurant
Brilliant food but the service was exceptional! Very friendly staff and super attentive. Best place we visited in Penzance no doubt!!!

Very friendly restaurant with great food right by the train station and bus station. Had a great meal here - beetroot and goats cheese for starter was excellent with a parsley oil dressing. The seafood platter was generous and nicely presented with lobster, crab, prawns, clams, mussels and razor clams. All served with tarragon oil, aioli and a sweet chilli dressing. Finished with a chocolate mousse with raspberries. Waiting staff and cooking staff all very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyGreat dinner, a real treat. They could have had a 10 if the restaurant was a bit cleaner
What a treat, this food. We enjoyed every bit of it. The food was nicely plated, beautiful decorated, and the taste was outstanding. The crew is very nice, we had a lovely evening.
Thank you so much.
Truly exquisite food
Just that really - the food was something very special. Excellent flavours - the chef really knows what they’re doing!!!

Be the first to ReplyO wrpriced with disorganised service
For a restaurant that highlights its use of local suppliers we were very unimpressed with the offering.
Meagre portions of locally sourced fish. Scallop starter was 3 small scallops at £3 a piece. Sea bass special at £28 was o esmall filled half the size of the accompanying potato plus 2 asparagus tips Mussels main was accompanied by two small pieces of so called artisan bread and the portion size of mussels was about half that offered by Roux Waterside for similar price.
No finger bowl was offered and a bowl had to be requested to put the mussel shells in. We had to obtain our own menus from the box as the senior waitress showed little attention to us despite having booked a table
A comment about the meagre portions evoked no response and the bill included the standard service e charge!
