Ever since the restaurant opened, i have been meaning to dine here! Initially, weekend reservations were hard to come by! Been to the other of Chef Sri's restaurants, including his Michelin Star days at Campton Place, and have always loved how he brings authenticity with creativity to elevate Indian cuisine! Finally, got a reservation for a weekday, for 4 of us! And, kinda in a way to celebrate our wedding too! Food was amazing! The shrimp, OMG! That was amazingly delicious! The chicken (kori gassi) - yes please! The truffle appam - double yes please! That hamachi collar - get in my tummy please! The desserts!! Can never have enough room for the desserts haha.. and the watalappan and green apple halwa, both were yum! Among all these shiny stars, biryani didn't leave enough mark. And, not to say, cocktails were not good, but i have had much better cocktails! Coming back? Definitely yes!

After hearing raving reviews about this place - we finally got a reservation to go!! The ambience was nice thought a bit loud (probably not great for a first date but good for groups of friends)! Very aesthetic and pretty decor and plants all around. We got lots of items to share - from reading recs of other people, we liked the chutney dips, the truffle appam, rasam poori, octopus, fried chicken, curry with dosa, biryani, and a coconut dessert! I really enjoyed the appam, octopus, fried chicken and biryani. The rasam poori was not a highlight for me as I've had pani puri with friends before and felt this was a bit overpriced and not amazing for street food. The other dishes were delicious as were the cocktails (especially the ones with a bit of spice to it). Service was good, waiters were attentive, but I felt the food in the beginning was served pretty quickly but was then slower later on. Would definitely recommend trying it out but it's not somewhere I would go on a regular.

Typically Indian food is not my go to but I have heard how good Copra is so decided to give a try. TLDR is worth a try but not necessarily the most "value" and will not be me first choice to go back to given my cuisine preferences. Lots of very unique form of dishes like the Masala Dosa and Rasam Poori. Favorite dish though was probably the Octopus - very very chewy and nicely done.

Every single dish was incredibly flavorful. Highly recommend the black cod. Will definitely return!

Come here with people who aren't picky and who love to eat and ain't shy about using their hands because you will be licking your fingers and then some! Food is spiced well and not for the weak. The flavors in these dishes come together so well! Gave 4 stars because we felt a bit rushed, and our server just didn't seem to be in the mood of telling us more about the menu or offering suggestions. Dessert was ok, I would skip and just get some ice cream at nearby places. Photos listed in order are: Fried Chicken, Oysters, Cocktails (Tumeric & Lemon Chili), Konkan Crab Curry, Chargrilled Bone Marrow, Watalappan

The flavors are incredible, and each dish is made with so much care that it's tough to choose a favorite. The servers are really kind and friendly. I appreciate how they take the time to explain each dish and the best way to enjoy it. It's a lovely touch. Shout-out to Brandon for being a great host as well!

Everything was excellent! Loved the food! We sat at the bar and really enjoyed speaking with Kata about the food.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and service.
We had the oysters, chaat, rasam poori and black cod. I was blown away by all!
Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant in San Francisco.
The service, phenomenal. The ambiance, emasculate. The food, 1 billion out of 10. While Indian food is my favorite food, South Indian is not something I love that much (not a bit coconut guy). However, this was sensational. No overwhelming flavors except delicious! For drinks we got the Lemon Chili cocktail and a Mint Mojito. What didn't we order! And so much we could have ordered to try but ate soooo much. We got the: - PERIGORD BLACK TRUFFLE SOFT EGG APPAM, PEPPER, CHIVES (8.5/10) - BEACH PEANUT MASALA WRAP (8/10) - RASAM POORI (8/10) - SLOW - COOKED OCTOPUS (10000/10) - MYSORE MASALA DOSA (10/10) - BLACK COD POLLICHATHU (10/10) Beyond delicious - all of it! And was treated to delish mango sorbet for my birthday dessert! Would recommend this to everyone!!
Be the first to ReplyThis is the best meal I have had in many years in SF.
So refreshing to taste the spices and incredible technique of Chef Sri as well as the fabulous cocktails, impeccable service, and the beautiful decor and ambiance. Highlights were... everything! The chutneys, chicken curry, the lamb, the gluten free breads... the gin, rum, rye cocktails... we tried four! And the coconut dessert with the mango sorbet. Unforgettable experience. Totally worth to reserve in advance and wait for the big day you are able to dine here!
Be the first to ReplyThe wait( over a month) was worth it.
Really enjoyed everything they served. We ordered the shrimp and bone marrow for starters. Both excellent and beautifully seasoned. Then the main course of Black cod and the lamb shoulder. Both bursting with flavors. Finished our meal with two fabulous desserts, the wattalappan and the bay leaf slice. Absolutely the best and unusual flavors. Our drinks were very good too Will definitely come back and try other dishes. Bravo to the chef and owner.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous food and ambiance.
The Konkan crab curry and the lamb chettinad were standouts, as was the gods own dessert. Cocktails are also beyond delicious! They should have non egg appam options for appam. Servers were nice and very helpful but missed a lot of details like clearing plates in between courses, giving us tools to crack the crab, and didn't bring serving utensils for shared dishes. Will definitely go back.

Cannot emphasize how grateful we are to have a *high quality* authentic South Indian restaurant within the city! We no longer have to drive all the way to Ettan or Madras Cafe in South Bay!When we first saw the menu, we were a bit skeptical as it dives deep into the cuisines of the 5 states of south india (heavy emphasis on Kerala in particular) - and it's rare for a restaurant kitchen to be able to execute on all of those complex cuisines well! It turns out that our skepticism was unwarranted and Copra is truly one of the best restaurants in SF today. We ordered multiple light + large dishes including the konkan crab, the vada starter, dindigul biryani, the shrimp roast and the fried chicken. The flavor profiles for each dish were on point - I'm still dreaming about that ghee-drenched shrimp vennai roast!!!.Even the iced "gods own" dessert was complex and flavorful (loved the candied rice crisps and mango inside)I can just tell that we are going to be coming back here again and again!
Be the first to ReplyService -1/10Ambience- 1/10 very crowded.
The owner has placed seating in waiting area as well and near the kitchen. Food -8/10

Went here with a group of six and left stuffed and super happy with the food and service. Served family style, we were able to try most of the items on the menu. My favorites were the octopus, bone marrow, crab curry, and hamachi shoulder. And definitely do not skimp on dessert -- they had a coconut shaved ice dessert called "God's creation" and a bay leaf dessert that were both heavenly.Service was amazing -- one of us has a severe legume allergy and they were able to clearly highlight what she could eat. There was a snafu with one of our meals but they went above and beyond to accomodate us. We enjoyed our dinner greatly!! Shout out to the staff and our waiter. We plan on coming back!!
Be the first to ReplyFood is very flavorful, ambiance is incredible.
Beautiful space. Service was alright. Our waiter took forever to come around to us, but otherwise really great
Be the first to ReplyCan never go wrong with Srijith.
...the food was to die for... especially the Crab curry served with Egg Appam....only a chef as accomplished as Srijith could come up with such unique flavors.....having been ardent fans of Taj Campton , we are glad Copra opened up with the ambience and food that it provides.. ..in absolute honesty service wasn't stellar...however the food and the vibe made us overlook the not so great service...we will be frequenting this place from the South bay...totally worth the commute
Be the first to ReplyIt is a forgettable experience.
Not recommended for vegetarians. Even the cocktails were underwhelming. You can have better food at ulvacharu tiffins. Or goto Rasa in Burlingame if you want an upscale experience than Ulvacharu. Dessert was good though, could have used less sugar imho. Overall not likely going again unless someone else is picking the tab.

Oh Copra!! I was so, so exited to try this restaurant and food is a 5 plus, but service is sub par and it's not the fault of the servers but the owners who have failed to staff appropriately!Food wise it does not disappoint BUT I am writing this while still here as we finished our food over 30 minutes ago and cannot go anywhere as no one will come by to see of we want anything else - maybe a drink, a main, a dessert - hell even some water which has been empty for a long time!! We cannot even pay?!!! Finally our poor waiter came by and you could see his look of exasperation as he was trying to clear the table while managing orders from many more! A busser or two would fix this issue immediately. It was over 45 minutes from finishing our meal to getting a dessert. This restaurant is beautiful, an absolutely stunning space! The food is also spectacular - dish after dish was just amazing! We began with some great cocktails - I had the Lemon Chili was was great and had a very definite kick!!Then we tried a lot of their smaller dishes - began with Mamu Kola Urundal - a vegetarian meatball with a delicious spicy taste and served on a lemon Raita! Then we tried the salad - Shinto Pear - very refreshing! The Chutney palette for the table - also excellent. The Rasam Poori was really cool as you poured the chilled liquinto little edible cups. The shrimp and Octopus were also standouts and cooked perfectly with great spice and flavor.Dessert was weird in a fabulous way - Gods own at first bite was strange - like coconut shaved ice with a hint of a curry flavor but beneath was a sauce which was delicious. It was like coconut and tapioca and so, so good! The Bay Leaf slice was also so good - almost like a panna cotta type dessert! This is 5 star food, incredible atmosphere, beautiful space, very well priced indeed but service needs some help!!
Be the first to ReplyA truly special and delicious Indian restaurant.
Each dish is presented beautifully yet it is not pretentious at all. The food is amazing, not too salty, not too spicy. Good Indian food with an amazing combination of sweet and salty dishes.Friendly waiters are open to helping you with the order and explaining the different elements of every dish. The location is in one of San Francisco's best neighborhoods and the restaurant has a good Indian classic-style decoration.

Hurts to write this review, I was really looking forward to trying Copra. Being a regular at Ethan and commuting from the city to Palo Alto I was excited when I heard about the opening. Definitely let me down from the service walking in to the quality of cold food coming out. Ordered the following:Rasam poori 4/10Chilli bajji pav 5/10Thattukada chicken 6/10 Shrimp vennal roast 7/10Bone marrow 7.5/10 (could've been a 8 if paratha wasn't cold)Hamachi collar 8/10 Coconut variations 8.5/10 Lassi punch 0/10 (sold out)Lemon chill 6/10Kokum and smoke 7/10 Think I might have to keep commuting to Ethan till this is sorted out.
Be the first to ReplyCopra is the restaurant SF has been missing.
It's a perfect high end South Indian restaurant that honors the flavors of mothers and alike but with a creative twist. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a great meal.
