This is my first time at commanders palace in the past two
This is my first time at commanders palace in the past two years. Typically when I go, I really have a good time, the waiters are amazing, and my friends and I leave very happy after our 25 cent martinis. Unfortunately, this time I cannot say the same. When we arrived and didn't have menus on our table, I then asked the waiter if we could get some menus, and he proceeded to say that we were rushing his service, and that he would get them to us and hurry along since we are in such a rush , he then proceeded to roll his eyes, and then go get the menus. Throughout the remainder of the service, he proceeded to be curt and rude. It made us feel that he did not really want to answer any more questions about some of the menu items. It was very unfortunate that this was the service that we got today, since this would probably be our last time at commanders for a while as we are all planning to move in the next few months. Maybe this waiter had a bad day. I'm not sure, but hopefully nobody else had a similar experience to us that day like. I will probably be back as this is a New Orleans staple restaurant but very disappointed with the service that I received today.
Be the first to ReplyI typically enjoy commander's palace.
I went with a group of friends today for lunch to celebrate matching last week for medical school and we enjoyed the lunch special, steak, and of course the 25 cent martinis. However today the service was less than desired. When asking our waiter for a menu and straws for our drinks, he rolled his eyes at us and asked "are y'all in a rush or something?"very rudely. Then throughout lunch we were sometimes apprehensive to even ask him questions or for assistance because almost each time he would make a face at us and was very curt and rude. I've never experienced something like this before, especially at such a nice restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant has been on my bucket list for decades!
This restaurant has been on my bucket list for decades! Finally made it to NOLA & got to experience it. Didn't disappoint! First, definitely make a reservation early! Nice to see a fine dining restaurant still enforcing a dress code. Main dining room is large, well done with a Classic atmosphere. Staff is eager to please, & knowledgeable. Very Extensive Wine List! Food was Fantastic! On point throughout! The Shrimp and Grits although it goes by a fancier name was The Best shrimp and grits I've ever had!!! And for such an iconic, popular, Great restaurant the prices were actually fairly reasonable compared to others in this category! I was impressed, & Very Satisfied!

The food was outstanding, service even better at this timeless establishment! A once in a lifetime experience despite the bread which came from Subway.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing service and the food had great flavor! My husband
Amazing service and the food had great flavor! My husband got the pork chop and I got the filet. The desserts were to die for. You must try the whiskey bread pudding soufflé and the crème brûlée.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful experience of a classic New Orleans institution.
Jazz brunch has a great menu to choose from and the Cochon De Lait Eggs Benedict was delicious (if a little heavy on the pork). The gumbo was perfect, but the soup of the day - sweet potato something - was a bit thick/heavy. It was our first experience with Eggs Sardou, so nothing to compare it to, but it was pretty good. I've since seen it on the menu at several restaurants and would love to see it with the artichoke heart not fried...I think it's unnecessary. Bread pudding and cheesecake desserts were fantastic! Service is over the top and I found our waiter to be a bit snooty, but the other staff were warm and lovely. So glad for this lovely experience!
Be the first to ReplyWe visited CP today for lunch.
Besides the appeal of the menu, the 25 cent martinis also caught our eye. Our party of four absolutely loved our food choices along with the outstanding desserts. But, what really stood out was the exceptional service. A well deserved shout out to Keke and Macy who were the real stars of the day. They provided friendly and welcoming service. Thanks CP for a very memorable birthday lunch. Thanks again to Keke and Macy for making our lunch even more special.

One of the grandest restaurants and training ground for many famous chefs.
Be the first to ReplyMy parents and I were looking for a nice dinner reservation
My parents and I were looking for a nice dinner reservation in the city and were luckily able to grab a Sunday night reservation while driving to New Orleans Saturday afternoon (I had checked the week before and was unable to find an opening so I would encourage people to keep checking closer to when you are coming in!) I knew that this was a pretty classic New Orleans restaurant but had seen a few reviews about the food not being great or the service not performing in the way you expect. I'm writing this review to share that we had a wonderful time with great service. We were taken upstairs (no elevator available) and sat in a beautiful dining room overlooking some magnolia trees. For appetizers, we ordered the cauliflower and the fried oysters. Both of which were delicious but admittedly pretty small servings for what you pay for them. For entrees, my family then ordered the steak, pork chop, and Pecan Crusted Fish all of which were prepared well and were delicious! We were told when we sat down that to order two of the special dessert options you would have to let your waiter know when you ordered your meal because they took some time to prepare. We greatly enjoyed the Bread Pudding Soufflé and the Strawberry Shortcake and appreciated the unique way both of these were prepared. Our waiter and the other waitstaff assisting him were very attentive and helpful and created a wonderful environment for a great evening. All of this to say, the couple of negative reviews about this place almost kept me from coming but I am glad that they didn't. It was a great experience and I would definitely come back!

How about the most special evening you can imagine? Don't come for quick service or In-N-Out an hour make this an evening with the family that you remember forever with special dinner options that change monthly service that will be at every corner and attentive care with every order that you make. The old home field gives an historic element that is irreplaceable, and every corner has some special history of the home that reminds you that you're just one of many millions have eaten at the historic restaurant. I would definitely advise the people at your table to order different items to ensure that you get to have a treat of the many special entrées appetizers and desserts that one can imagine. Make sure to order the long lead desserts early on in the meal even when you first see them to have a couple options for the end Come here for a special event birthday anniversary
Be the first to ReplyTLDR: Great service, food is hit or miss.
Pricey, but fun experience for special occasions. Book reservation month + in advance. We dined here for my birthday while visiting New Orleans. I made a reservation one month in advance, and on a Sunday night, the only reservation available was 9pm. The restaurant has Old South charm. There is a specific dress code (posted on the reservation section of the web site), so make sure you read up on that before you arrive. Despite the need for fancy attire, this place isn't stuffy. There is a light-hearted, jovial atmosphere inside the restaurant, with a lot of older folks getting loud and a little rowdy. We were warmly greeted when we arrived, and although we were 15 minutes early, our table on the 2nd floor was ready and we were sat. As we walked to our table, every server along the way greeted us. Once we were sat, there were balloons at the table for my birthday. All the servers on the 2nd floor wished me a happy birthday. My only issue with the service was our server told us that when we placed our order, we would have to order everything-appetizers, entrees, and desserts-at once. Later on, another server, at the table next to us, allowed her table to order by course as they ate. This would have worked much better for me because I was stuffed after the appetizers. Ok, so let's get to the important stuff-the food and drinks. Cocktails were great. The Hokkaido Scallop Crudo appetizer was fantastic. The flavors were really interesting. The hickory smoked cauliflower and gulf shrimp & white bean soup were incredibly salty. The dressing on the Ponchatoula Strawberry Salad didn't taste good to me at all (brandy buttermilk punch) and seemed too heavy for a fresh salad. The Grilled Center Cut Creekstone Farms Filet was delicious. We ordered medium rare, and it came out more on the rare side, which my bf loves. A guest that doesn't like rare steak would have been unhappy with the cook. The Ponchatoula Strawberry Shortcake was amazing, but by the time it came, I was too full to really enjoy it.
Be the first to ReplyA fantastic 5 course fixed menu meal.
The hype is real. Each dish was fantastic. Snapped soup, fish with crab, steak, salad, and a massive cheesecake for dessert. A+

5 stars, one of NOLA's only Michelin restaurants (if I'm not mistaken?) Of course Very good service from our server and the team here, Kyle was great! Food all amazing, except for the salad that the wife's ordered, very heavy handed on the salt! Other then that 0 complaints. What a cool experience and awesome ambience in this cool building. We were seated in the upper dining which was very pleasant.

This is a bucket list foodie check off that everyone should try. First, always, always make a reservation. Parking is a little more tolerable in the garden district. As soon as you walk in, you know that this is going to be different. The staff is lined up, greeting you as you enter the dinning room, smiles and warmth. Remember to dress appropriately. We joined the jazz brunch, which is fantastic! The Ambiance is a celebration of life, balloons, beautiful colors and music. The menu is easy to order from as the main course price includes an appetizer and dessert. Everything and I mean everything was perfect. Our favorite was the eggs Benedict. It's rich and every bite was sooo good. The catfish was delicious, but the Benedict was just so good. There are certain desserts that you will need to order early because of the preparation. The bread pudding soufflé is one of those dishes. My gumbo was equally as full of flavor as the eggs Benedict. I also enjoyed the meal with a Sazerac! If you've never had one, have your first in a place that invented it. The pecan pie was not overly sweet, instead it was balanced and complemented with candied pecans! The strawberry shortcake was balanced with texture and flavor. The bread pudding soufflé was light airy and the whiskey cream was next level. If you've never been, you need to go!
Be the first to ReplyIt's all a special treat.
From the welcome once you walk through the door, seating and atmosphere. Every dish was delicious and the unexpected change of drinking glass that was halfway with a delicious drink; brought back full with the same tasty drink. The experience was worth every dollar.
Be the first to ReplyMy son said the cheesecake was the best he's ever had.
Always classy & yummy. Expensive, but worth it!!

..you were so worth the wait! My husband and I decided to make reservations at Commander's Palace on this trip to New Orleans as we were celebrating our 30th anniversary. What a win! What amazing customer service! Upon arrival we were greeted and escorted to our table. Every.single.employee we passed welcomed us and expressed their appreciation for our dining with them. Our waiter was attentive but did not crowd us! The food...amazing! My husband's filet was perfectly cooked and my fish was served with sweet potatoes and collards! Delicious! But dessert!!! Vanilla ice cream with pralines! I have wanted to come here for years and it exceeded my expectations! Thank you Commander's Palace for a memorable dining experience!

25 martinis during lunch! My husband made reservations here and it was absolutely worth it. Enjoyed the food even though it's not normally something I'd go for. My husband loved his dish. We would definitely try it again if we're back in the area.
Be the first to ReplyI'm going to rate my virtual culinary experience with Chef
I'm going to rate my virtual culinary experience with Chef Meg. I learned New Orleans style cooking from a star chef!During Covid, I bought a virtual home cooking seminar with the Chef, and the food was shipped to my home - sweet! The meal kit was pre-packed in dry ice and delivered by Goldbelly several days before the Zoom class. Instructions from Chef Meg were very easy, she gave some background info about the entrees and her passion for cooking. The meal was beef short ribs- very tender and flavorful; grits were delicious with the added whipped creole cream. I sautéed the mushrooms and asparagus with the thyme - plated the meal and wow- my husband was impressed the meal. I felt like I was dining at the Commander's Palace. 5 stars for this virtual cooking class!
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal experience here! We were greeted by no less
Phenomenal experience here! We were greeted by no less than 6 people as we entered and were escorted to our table. Our waiter, Dewayne, was genuine and thoughtful in his recommendations. His banter was on point - making great suggestions and giving just enough sass to be funny but not rude. My friend and I both got the veal and it was melt in your mouth delicious! Everything was great. The creole grits that came with the veal were tasty. The bread pudding is amazing. Reasonably priced - these Nebraska boys will make this place a staple when we return to NOLA.Even the security guard Richard was incredible. We left around 10:15 pm so things were pretty slow by then and we asked Richard about the houses nearby. He showed us a few on that block and told us about several others within a few blocks that were owned by Sandra Bullock, John Goodman, and the house where the Mannings grew up in.All around, top notch experience which rounded out our amazing time in NOLA watching KU win the national championship.
Be the first to ReplyThe food isn't great.
The cauliflower soup was very salty. My drink sat empty for most of the meal. When the server dropped the desserts he felt the need to say "nothing on the table is free". It was rude and unnecessary. The carpet smelled. Old school or just old? Do not recommend.
