We recently visited Coalfire Pizza for dinner to celebrate
We recently visited Coalfire Pizza for dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. They easily accommodated a large table without any issues. A friend said that Coalfire pizza has been ranked very highly by many food bloggers and she was absolutely correct. The pizzas were undoubtedly very tasty and there were a lot of options to choose from. I shared the Vegan pesto pistachio pizza with friends and it was just yum! I don't know a lot of places that offer vegan pesto as they usually add diary to it so I'm glad I could enjoy pesto without dairy. They did not have Vegan cheese so we had to get the pizza without cheese but honestly the pesto spread was so rich and creamy, I really did not mind that there wasn't any cheese on my pizza. Our meat lover friends ordered pizza with meatballs and pepperoni and they liked it as well. I'm hoping they open a branch in downtown area as well as traveling to LakeView can be a bit difficult. I rate this place 5/5 for pizzas and the hospitality!
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal food and great service.
Highly recommend. Cool ambiance. Great for any occasion.
Be the first to ReplyBest pizza in the country.
Service was on time and the place is simple but nice. I try to go there every time I go to Chicago.

In town for the weekend and found this lovely gem so we decided to stop in - we were not disappointed! Service was fast and friendly! We did have a hard time deciding which pizza to get as they all sounded fantastic, but decided on the Bacon Jam pizza. It was excellent! Place is small but inviting and we would definitely come back again!
Be the first to ReplyReally enjoyed Coalfire.
Went there several times. Ordered different pizzas each time. The crust is just perfect. Bottom is crisp, center is very tasty. The toppings are highest quality and delicious.
Be the first to ReplyHello there, well the pizza was okay.
It is not all what people say. The crust is like a pizza but the rest of the dough is like a crepe. It is that type of consistency. I expected a nice crispy dough. That definitely was not the case. It was very flimsy. Not type of pizza. But to reach it's own. I will not be going back. But thank you.
Be the first to ReplyNo complaints.
My favorite consistent go to thin crust pizza in the city. Mushroom and sausage. The waitresses were great as well. Caesar Salad was good to
Be the first to ReplyGet there early! Its good.
We snagged an outdoor table before Springsteen at Wrigley. Very enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyThis place will forever have my pizza loving heart.
I've been coming here with my husband for years, celebrating many occasions and bringing friends and family from all over to enjoy it as well. Our favorites are the pistachio pesto and the black & white pizzas, it's almost a guarantee we'll have at least one of each every time. We've tried most of the menu and can honestly say we have yet to have a bad pizza. The dimly lit and homey atmosphere, overall simplicity, as well as the friendly staff are also a huge bonus. This place is truly a little gem.
Be the first to ReplyGreat taste, not a lot to the pizza and p expensive.
But still, tastes great. My last pizza was too burnt and tasted too much like the coal.

Good stuff - ordered to go & am excited about getting to eat it live. Will make an effort to get into the shop soon

Really solid pizza here! None of that deep dish or square cut nonsense. Pep & ricotta was delicious. Toppings a bit heavy for the slice so pretty floppy. Would say this is similar to Craft Pizza in wicker.

Great pie! Completely unexpected getting New Haven style pizza (kinda) in the Windy City that's actually solid.Probably the best pizza toppings I've ever had. I know...I know, this is Chicago and this ain't stuffed or deep dish BUT do yourself a favor and check this place out!!!
Be the first to ReplyNot my first time coming , but first time leaving a review .
I've been here a handful of times and have never left disappointed . Probably my favorite pizza in chicago . The ricotta pepperoni is my go to . The food comes out incredibly fast so a great spot if you're in a time crunch
Be the first to ReplyBest pizza in Chicago.
Point blank. Don't even get at me with the deep dish (pizza should be not eaten with a fork and knife). The pepperoni and whipped ricottta pizza is a must. Highly recommend dining in--takeout just doesn't hit the same.
Be the first to ReplyHeard soooo many good things about this place.
just moved to the neighborhood last weekend and walked up to get take out margarita and house salad.Margarita: something must be wrong with the brick oven. the charred parts ( which i LOVE) tasted like burned plastic or something was burned onto the surface that the pizza cooked on. it even smelled like something unnatural was burned on the pizza. not edible. super soggy and floppy. texture like the pizza had sat out for an hour before i arrived (was ~20mins from placing order to picking up). bizarre and bad experience - will try again bc i've heard such good things but this was bad.Salad: very good very fresh.

Dining in is the way to go!I was hooked on Coalfire when I was near their Lakeview location (same quality goodness as this one)! I think this is the original location. My favorite pizza is their whipped ricotta pepperoni pizza. It is definitely better when you order and eat it at the restaurant because the pizza is hot, and the fresh whipped ricotta is topped right onto each slice. When you order the whipped ricotta pepperoni pizza for delivery, they will pack the ricotta separately for you. It is still good, but not the same! The pizzas are thin so when you order it for delivery, it doesn't hit the spot right since it gets cold fast! Also, not to the restaurant's fault, but there is a shortage of delivery drivers so our pizza was done about 30 minutes before it arrived. Bummer!Still delicious, but definitely better when it's piping hot and fresh.

We used to love this pizza, but disappointed yesterday as our pizza was burnt on the side. And it was wet in the middle. Not sure what happened, but we won't be going back for a while.

Alright, the top part of the pizza ( so the toppings) are great. The crust is soggy thin and not New York style if that what is expected. On top of that the bottom of the crust always comes out burnt. Its literally burnt, meaning its either sitting in the over too long or the oven is not clean. It should not have charred burnt taste. Pizza is flavorful, ingredients great but crust is too thin and burnt.
Be the first to ReplyCame here on a really snowy day.
The pizzas a super thin. I believe there's only one size. I still left hungry when I left. But they are good.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for the first time on our visit to Chicago.
Let me start off by saying that if you're looking for pizza that is NOT deep dish then this is the spot!! The oven brick thin-crust pizza here is delicious and the crust taste speaks for itself. We ordered the Pepperoni with Whipped Ricotta and Jalapeรฑos (picture shown) and it was absolutely tasty. 5/5Will come back again if I'm in the area! Price for 2: around $30
Be the first to ReplyJust do it.
My clients did nothing but rave about it. We always send pizza from a local joint on our clients move-in day. Saturday was move in day in Wicker Park and Coalfire provided the sustenance. Great pie!
Be the first to ReplyCoalfire is great if your goal is pizza, flavor, and speed!
Coalfire is great if your goal is pizza, flavor, and speed! But be warned, the tab can add up quickly. We got the Pepperoni & Whipped Ricotta, Lasagna, and Arugula Tomato pizzas along with the Broccolini Burrata. Loved the raisins and pine nuts that came with the broccolini burrata dish for a balance of nutty and sweet-- but take note, this is a cold preparation. The pepperoni & whipped ricotta pizza is a personal favorite among the three we ordered, but overall, loved how the sweetness of the tomatoes came through each of the pizzas.

Best tasting pizza! My husband and I just had brunch 2 hours before coming here. My husband wanted pizza one last time before heading out to the airport. I wasn't going to eat because I'm super full but I am so glad because it's the best pizza I've had. He likes John's pizza better in NYC but I completely disagree. We are coming back in 4 weeks. NYC first then Chicago. We are going to ask our children to do a test taste. We shall see who will reign the best pizza.
