Sad
I used to go there quite often. One every few weeks. It was a wonderful place. At some point they rebuilt it and changed the menu. it was still very good. But it seems like Covid changed everything. City Limits Diner is now nothing more than another diner. Except it's not cheap like other diners are. The menu is much smaller now. Half of what it used to be. I stopped by there today and ordered 3 City Limits burgers to go, medium rare, with french fries. When I came home, I discovered that they didn't put fries in my bag. Never before have I had to check my bag to see if everything I ordered was there. The burger was cooked medium rate but it tasted like cardboard. No salt. No flavor at all. I went to their website and wrote feedback. I wouldn't go through. I don't recommend it. You can get the same thing at Burger King for half the price.

I met my wife for brunch/early lunch here on a weekday morning, and could not believe the prices. $17 for a simple turkey burger? $16 for an omelette? Are you absolutely kidding me? The food is fine but these prices are truly insane for a diner. Not planning to return.
Be the first to ReplyBad and expensive
This morning I had the worst--and most expensive--breakfast EVER at City Limits Diner. The bill, not including gratuity was $60 for two people. I don't mind paying a high price for food, but this food was terrible. My son ordered a western omelette with a side of bacon, which was so hard it was inedible. I had steak and eggs. The eggs were fine but the steak was tough, probably had been frozen too long. I only had a few bites. The hash browns had no taste, also probably frozen too long. Most chain restaurants are far better than this awful place.
Be the first to ReplyGood diner food but pricey
Went here with two other family members for a late lunch. Service by Rosendo was very good. We had City Line Reuben and a BLT and a turkey club plus three coffees. The food was good though the French fries were soggy as if they had been sitting around. Coffee good with refills . Think there was a lot of salt used - prefer adding our own. Fir these items the total was over $60 before tip.

Alberto the waiter, was very attentive to his customers and to us. His service was beyond. Very friendly and respectful. The food was amazing and thanks to the chef it was great. I give it 10 stars.

Weekday late night dinner with wife and daughter. Ate chicken meatloaf, goat & beet wrap and turkey burger. All dishes tasty. Prices reasonable. Portion size good. Attentive service

I was confused about an order. The manager was very eager to help me.. I’m grateful. The food is good and the portions are big. Love this place
Be the first to ReplyBest eggs Benedict !
Came for brunch but everyone ordered breakfast. The lobster crab cake eggs Benedict was delicious. Great service and food came out quickly.

some food was eh and we actually returned. other food stood out, I always order fried calamari to determine the cooks/chef's ability and the server's ability. Sad to say, it was undercooked and was sent back. In addition, the proper way to serve it is on top of a napkin to catch the grease so it does not drip all over the plate and absorb into the food. THe dipping sauce was supposed to be jalapeño-Tomato Dipping Sauce..but was nothing more akin to ketchup and crushed red pepper; no jalapenos to be found. Hangar steak and a burger was also ordered. I would suggest ordering a notch lower than what you want. Both meats were overcooked. Shellfish was overcooked to the point that they shrank to half their sizes. That was the bad part. The good part was anything steamed or sauteed came out excellent. desserts are home made and a tad on the sweeter side..but still enjoyable. Service seemed to be slipping a bit, as pasta was brought out but no grated cheese. That should be placed on the table as the food is cooking as should be fresh black pepper. I have eaten here many times in the past decades and will give this a few more tries before i make a final decision.

City Limits Off Limits
Never had anything but a great meal here!
We travel to the area to visit family once in a while and always visit the City Limits Diner. Food is fabulous. They are accommodating if you have any food restrictions. And waiters will give you an opinion if you are stuck between a couple of options. They have never steered us wrong. Portions a very generous, easy to share.
This visit I had the Roasted Turkey Cobb. I know, it's only a salad....but it's a great choice! Very fresh and tasty. And while I didn't think I would like the red wine vinaigrette, the waiter recommended it and he was right. So good. My dining companion had the City Limits Reuben and was not disappointed. Only crumbs remained on our plates.
Staff was very attentive, refilling drinks and checking that all was to our liking.
It will continue to be a 'must visit' destination while in the area.
Diner with a bang
So glad to have this diner in our neighborhood. It is kind of a combo restaurant and diner and the perfect answer to a casual evening. The menu, although expensive, is varied and more interesting than the regular diner fare. I usually have the grilled salmon which is great. I also like the Caesars salad with grilled chicken which is a dinner in itself.
The service is consistently good. The place is more upscale than a diner and the noise level is very manageable.
Recommend it.
Breakfast
BEST home-made corned beef hash I have ever had...bar none. This review doesn't need 100 characters so, I'm just typing.

I went to the City Limits Diner twice. On the day I arrived I decided to try them bc they had a cod fish sandwich that sounded yummy. When I arrived their Friday night special was Paella, so I HAD to get it. It was very yummy. Well seasoned and just enough seafood. Then on the day I left I decided to order the fish sandwich and I wasn't disappointed. It also helped that the bartender was personable, friendly, and cordial. That always makes for a great experience. They have outdoor seating but you have to pretty much seat yourself.

On the way to Cape Cod, one has to have lunch. So once we got out of NYC, we started looking. We stumbled on City Limits Diner based on some good reviews, and boy did they knock it out of the park. Our waitress kept insisting that we get some of their complimentary bread, and we finally relented to be met w/ fresh cornbread and some italian loaf. Unbelievable. I then had their homemade chicken noodle soup, and turkey burger w/ mushrooms. The soup was award winning w/ chunks of chicken and perfectly seasoned broth. The turkey burger was cooked to perfection w/ a yummy tomato and pickle on top. My girlfriend had the shrimp wrap w/ chunks of grilled shrimp in a light mayonaisy sauce. Our one regret; we didn't have room for desert, which were being paraded around like it was The Rose Bowl. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I went with our daughter and son in law for dinner at the City Limits Diner on Monday night. They were pretty busy when we arrived at 6pm but we were given a booth right away. The dining room is very large and attractively decorated. And the servers were all constantly on the move taking care of customer needs. Very impressive. We started by sharing a Caesar salad for the table. Then my daughter had a pizza (which she said was better than most pizzas at pizza parlors), my son in law had the grilled chicken sandwich, my wife had the middle eastern veggie plate (an appetizer that she had as her entree) and I had a great Reuben sandwich that came with pickle, Cole slaw and fries. All the food was delicious and our server was very professional and attentive. A most enjoyable dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
Had to give it only 3 stars because chef was trying too hard to produce good meals but he took simple good diner food and ruined them with over seasoning. Potato salad had so much salt and pepper making it inedible. Who puts curry in egg salad? Who puts horseradish on a Turkey club? Service was friendly but server gave our water to the wrong table, disappeared for long periods of time and gave someone else our credit card.

When we got to the restaurant, we were seated right away. Our server was polite and attentive. The food was good and we didn’t have to wait long to be served. We will definitely come back.
