The staff are really nice but It was my first time in my life that I couldn't eat a food. I love seafood and I am not picky at all. But just this pasta smelled really fishy and not good. The 3 star are just for staff.
Be the first to ReplyItalian fine dining at its best.
The website is a bit out of date but I was able to find one online by searching Taormina menu. This is a high priced option but can be worthwhile for a special date or event. The restaurant does it allow bringing in wine. They have an extensive wine list, full bar and some specialty cocktails. I started with the Sicilian 07, a play of the French 75 using the year the restaurant opened (2007). They start you off with huge "cakes" of rosemary bread with olive oil and spices. The Prix Fixe menu is a good deal for its base price but expect add-ons for your favorites. My son enjoyed his filet. Our group shared the steamed clams. Not the most exotic. I had the Sardi e Finochetti since I'd never seen this dish on any menu. It was a tasty mix of sardines, anchovies and great flavors. They had a half-price special on the Truffle Carbonara -- mushrooms in a cream sauce with truffles freshly shaved at the table. Normally $68 my husband could not stop talking about what a great deal it was at $34. My daughter had the seafood pescatore. Tiramisu was okay and the chocolate swirl gelato had no swirl. Our server brought us a small dish of vanilla ice cream as an extra to compensate. My Cappuccino was excellent. I'm not sure everyone can afford this place but if you can it's a treat. Service is excellent! Ask for a table upstairs if you can. It's less crowded and not noisy at all.

An extraordinary dining experience: attentive and expert service, excellent cuisine, beautiful setting. We may change our plans around to come back before we leave!
Be the first to ReplyService was very good.
Food value not so much. Sea urchin pasta pretty good but entree charge for appetizer portion. Fettuccini carbonara with truffles excessively priced and came after it looked like it had been sitting under heat lamp or reheated.

The food was absolutely delicious! Planned a 2 week travel to Italy for 2025 after tasting what a tease of what Sicilian cuisine can be truly like. Had the Prix-Fixe, Seafood Bruschetta and some wonderful red wine.. hands down, AMAZING! Our waiter was always on point and the ambience was the perfect setting to bring class and casual so transparently. Bravo! And for those reviewing, bon appรฉtit!
Be the first to ReplyGood food with good services.
We had the birthday party there. They gave us a small birthday treats.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a great place to try in waikiki.
There is validated parking, making it easy to park. Service is always great, and the food is delicious. They start you off with housemade bread, and it was s warm and fluffy. I got the grilled fish, and it was perfectly prepared, not dry at all. The tiramisu is light and has a great coffee flavor.

Unfortunately, this place missed the mark when it came to Italian dishes for me. We came with a party of 4 and after spending over $450 for dinner, I felt unamused. The bruschetta and clams were our first appetizers and the bruschetta was more like a Crustini topped with alfredo sauce w/scallops. I didn't read the description on the menu which was my fault. I expected balsamic which this restaurant loves to use, by the way, but didn't have any on the bruschetta or any tomatoes. It was sloppy with a lot of alfredo sauce, spinach and scallops. Not what you expect for a bruschetta. The clams lacked butter and umami. Husband ordered from the full course menu and ordered the filet mignon as an option. His first course of squid ink pasta with shrimp was actually pretty descent. The filet mignon had no flavor and had drizzled balsamic surrounding it. For some reason, the server didn't ask him how he wanted his steak which was probably because it was the size of his big thumb. LOL. It was super rare when it came out and hubby hates rare. The random mushroom and veggies that came with the filet again had no salt on them. No flavor whatsoever. I had the Seafood Pescatore which was extremely fishy. I love seafood pasta but this was extraordinarily fishy which didn't sit right with me. The pasta was cooked al dente which was great but the clams in there had a few sand in there that I crunched into. Was unpleasant for sure. Other parties at our table had the duck and the risotto. The duck was surrounded with what seemed like oyster sauce and tasted like a Chinese dish. I didn't feel like it represented any Italian dish in any way. Unfortunately, this is not going to be one of the Italian restaurants we will be visiting again. (Especially in Waikiki).
Be the first to ReplyOne of worst dinners I've ever had, bland and no flavor.
I've ate all over Italy and some very, very good Italian restaurants in Seattle. This restaurant needs some new recipes!

My family and I have been coming to Taormina for years and it's our favorite Italian spot on island. We come for the incredible service and wonderful ambiance but stay for the delicious bolognese! It's unique with the secret ingredient of balsamic vinegar and is hands down one of my favorite meals. The wine list is impressive and you can't forget to end the night with their affogato and a Sambuca. Shoutout to Robert and the entire team for taking such good care of us! That's what true hospitality is all about.

I just don't understand how this restaurant got such good reviews. The food was below average at best. I ordered the breaded veal it had way too much cheese, and my mom and son ordered the bolognese and it just didn't have a good flavor at all. The service was good. Very nice and attentive. The ambiance was average. Overall I will not go back to this restaurant

What a treat! This place came recommended by a local - we're visiting from the San Francisco Bay Area. Dinner was on point, the drinks were great, and the service was elevated without being stuffy. Special thanks to Robert for helping guide us through a wonderful evening. Be prepared for a great evening if you're able to secure a table. Good luck!
Be the first to ReplyAlways stop here for dinner or lunch whenever in Waikiki.
Great food and service. The Bolognese is the best!

I'd only heard about this location until recently, and I'm glad that I was finally able to check it out in person. My better half and myself were seated right by the kitchen, and although it was a little hectic and noisy, it was fun to watch a working kitchen staff. Overall, the ambiance was to my liking, though it may not satisfy all. If you like a little more space and/or quiet, ask to be seated closer to the front of the establishment. The waitstaff all seemed to help one another and were very friendly and knowledgeable. Though our waitress forgot an item or two and we had to ask more than once for water, I didn't gig them too much on this front as they were exceptionally busy with a large party. As for the food.....I can not find a single thing to fault Chef Hiro or his staff on as every course was amazing. My better half and I split the clams, she had the squid ink pasta while I had the pescatore. I had a glass of the Sicilian Nero d'Avola and we split the chocolatecake with vanilla ice cream. It was the best tasing Italian food I've had ever since Serena's in Kaimuki closed. This is a must try for a date night or small gathering. I wouldn't recommend bringing the kids to this one, so save it for a romantic night out.

Terrible carbonara tartuffo pasta, americanized with a huge amount of bacon and very, very little truffle for $70!!!

A taste of Sicily in the islands? Heck, yes!We enjoyed our dinner... the prix-fixe is a really good deal at $82/person for what you get. I had the Nero Frutti di Mare, and he had the Truffle Carbonara. Both were delicious. Neither of us like tiramisu, so they were kind enough to swap another dessert. I was surprised that there was nothing on the menu with pistachios as they are very common in Sicily, especially Taormina. Service was good, but a bit slow, so it felt at times like we had to wait longer than ideal. We were seated on the outside patio area, which was nice.

What a spectacular place to go on a date or have a business meeting. The dinning areas are very intimate and surprisingly not that loud. They do have outside seating but we sat inside on the second floor. The bottle menu is good but they only have select wines for by the glass. I ended up starting with their signature Manhattan and got a Nero d'Avola with my spaghetti bolognese. The meat sauce here is only beef! A nice change from pork always being in it, because I don't eat pork. My fiancรฉ also ended up getting the spaghetti bolognese as well but gluten dairy free style. Now this place is super gluten dairy free friendly. Almost everything on the menu is made fresh so they can be easily modified. Both of our dishes were delicious with the minor hiccup of mine being a little too cheesy. Our waiter was very friendly and knew the menu well. He also helped review all of the options my fiancรฉ had being dairy and gluten free. We did however splurge on the gluten free chocolate cake and let me tell you it was worth it. I highly recommend this place!

Pros:-Most of the food is impressive, especially the uni pasta (Sea Urchin pasta) with it's rich and creamy texture. A lot of other uni pasta I've had lacks flavor, but not this one. You could really tasy the uni.-The wine and bottled wine list is well curated and pairs well with the food. We had a Pinot Grigio and a Syrah. Both were well balanced and smooth.-Open at Lunch-Indoor and outdoor seating with a suitable atmosphere -Parking available -Appetiser and entree portions are decent size Cons:-Service varies. I've had attentive servers most times, but this past time our waiter didn't really check on us and it took a really long time to order.-If you sit outside sometimes bird come around and pick at unattended food. (Can't help this since it's outside, just be careful)-Pasta portion is small so I would order a little more pasta than you think. We got 2 for 4 people and left wanting more pasta-Pricey (what do you expect for fine dining)If you don't mind splurging, Taormina is a great place to get Italian Japanese Fusion. The Uni Pasta is definitely a recommendation, as is the Beef Carpaccio (can function as a salad and an appetizer as the amount of arugula you get is huge). Order ala carte as the course meals seemed even more expensive and restrictive in regards to what you can order.
Be the first to ReplyTasty food, beautifully presented.
Prices are a tad high, given the size of the portions. Complimentary sorbet was served. Service is slow-- combining the traits of Hawaii with those of Sicily. The waiter was very courteous. Overall, a wonderful dining experience. This was our third visit. We do intend to pay a fourth visit the next time we are in Waikiki.
Be the first to ReplyEveryone loves a good al dente pasta.
This is why we keep spending a pretty penny to dine here This restaurant serves complimentary focaccia and olive oil with balsamic vinegar, need i say more? Honestly, you could probably order anything and it's dang delicious. Our notable favorites are: Uni Pasta hands down. The uni pasta is rich, creamy and everything you wanted in a pasta but didn't know about until you tried it. Imagine: eating a pasta and you don't feel terrible afterwards because it was light. It's definitely big portioned and something I recommend sharing with a friend. I think eating a whole plate would be delicious but also a little monotonous. Plus, we all love a good family style dinner night. Lamb chops are cooked to perfection, nicely tender. Recently tried the bolognese pasta and that was also amazing. The sauce was complex with multiple notes; a perfect balance between sweet and umami. Chocolate cake is rich and is complemented well with the ice cream.

If you're a fan of truffle, then you simply must try the truffle carbonara at this fantastic Sicilian restaurant! The dish was a perfect blend of creamy sauce, tender pasta, and of course, the unmistakable flavor of truffle. Each bite was a delight for the senses, and we savored every moment of this indulgent dish. For those who prefer seafood, the catch of the day is definitely worth trying. Our server informed us that it was fresh, and we couldn't resist ordering it. The dish was expertly prepared - the fish was perfectly cooked and served with a side of seasonal vegetables. The delicate flavor of the fish was complemented perfectly by the light seasoning, and we found ourselves going back for more.As for the service, it was simply outstanding. Our server was friendly, professional, and attentive, and our food arrived promptly and at the perfect temperature. We also appreciated the little touches, such as the freshly baked focaccia read that was brought to our table.Overall, our dining experience at this Italian restaurant was exceptional. We highly recommend trying the truffle carbonara and the catch of the day, and we're confident that you'll be just as impressed with the service as we were. We can't wait to go back!
