Ciccino San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
Small Italian in Nob Hill I wanted to like more: food was
Small Italian in Nob Hill I wanted to like more: food was fine but vibe and service was a bit off. Food: 3.5 Service: 2.5 Atmosphere: 3 Cost to worth it rating: 2 (entrees spendier at ~$60) Opentableable: yes Return worthiness: unsure Highlights: - Pappardelle: I'm a sucker for fresh pasta and the texture was great on this. Lamb ragout wasn't gamey and ate like a standard Bolognese. 4 stars - Scallop skewer: 3 tender pure scallops with light breading I enjoyed. 4 stars - Focaccia: crunchy and salty up top and soft inside. 4 stars - Duck: 2 thick slices of breast. Solid mellow flavor cooked to a good temperature with tableside poured jus by the chef. My husband would have preferred a crispier skin and lower price point. 3.5 stars - Wines: many Italian varietals by the glass - Atmosphere: small restaurant with a small wine bar in the side and kitchen in back with windows to peer in which was cool. Lowlights: - Service: bit standoffish. Not rude but I didn't feel like efforts were made to foster us feeling welcome upon arriving or throughout the meal which is unusual for Italian restaurants which are usually filled with so much warmth. - Timing: between the pasta course and our entree we waited almost 45 minutes. Food-wise it was a fine meal, but for the overall experience for the price there are so many other stellar options in the city.
Food was quite good.
One dish missed the mark but the others were really great. Unfortunately , we didn't love the wines.

We had a terrific dinner at Ciccino in San Francisco's Nob Hill neighborhood. Chef owner Gian Marco has put together a beautiful menu of Northern ItalIan cuisine that we had a hard time just choosing. The Ravioli Carbonara is not to be missed, and we also had two appetizer skewers of shrimp and lamb that were delicious. We could have eaten a whole loaf of the delicious focaccia bread. The wine selection is excellent but we had our server and also Chef suggest glasses for our meals and they worked well. The staff was very welcoming, and the design of the restaurant very lovely, just like a cozy local bistro should be. We look forward to coming back! https://www.ciccinosf.com
Ciccino is a small Northern Italian restaurant on Nob Hill
Ciccino is a small Northern Italian restaurant on Nob Hill across the street from Trader Joes. We were nearby, always like Italian, and gave it a try. Prices are not cheap. $32 for a pasta dish. Is this a neighborhood spot or destination restaurant? The food was on the expensive side and solid, but not super. 4.5 stars on Yelp. Service was okay but not great. One of those spots below Flour and Water, Cotogna, etc.. but above aMano. Safety Pluses - Online menu, Delivery services available, online ordering. Food Review: House Made Focaccia ($4) was solid. Reasonable portion for the money. 8/10 Romain Fennel Salad ($22) was a good sized, albeit expensive salad. Good ingredients and balanced. 8/10 Gluten Free pasta with Lamb Ragout ($32 GF) is an eggless premade pasta. Reasonable but not big portion. Good lamb ragout, but not a lot of meat. Very hot pasta, but not al dente. A solid dish, but not amazing. 8/10 Passatelli ($32) is fresh egg based pasta with mushrooms and bread crumbs. Like the other pasta, it was fine but not amazin. 8/10 Overall - Very Good Food - Very Good Decor - Very Good Service - Good Value - Fair Would we come back - Maybe
Great cozy spot for dinner before a concert at the Masonic.
The servers were attentive, and the food was delicious. The pasta came out piping hot, freshly made.
Went here because it was on this new booking platform
Went here because it was on this new booking platform Dorsia which lets you pre pay and reserve on their app. We got the focaccia and fritto misto appetizers but felt the focaccia was too expensive (2 pieces of bread for $4), but enjoyed the fritto misto though it was a bit salty. We then got 3 pastas to share - the lamb ragout pappardelle, passatelli, and ravioli carbonara. We enjoyed the pappardelle the most, the ravioli carbonara was interesting but not stellar and I liked the sauce of the passstelli. Portions were not the biggest as well. We of course had to end with a tiramisu and this I really enjoyed! We also got their aperol spritz as drinks too. Overall the food was good and a nice quiet ambience (not that many tables), but it was definitely on the pricier side for their portion sizes.
If you're looking for a small, unassuming restaurant
If you're looking for a small, unassuming restaurant serving great Italian food then this is your spot. The owner/chef is Italian and sources many of his ingredients from Italy -- and it shows. We ordered a caprese salad, which had the right amount of tang. Not too much oil or vinegar. My favorite of the night was the papardelle lamb ragout. The flavors were just right and the dish evoked a sense of home made care. We also had the ribeye and some Italian red wine. To top off the night, we ordered both desserts. My dining companion raved about the tiramisu for a couple of days afterwards. I'll be taking my Italian friends here next time they visit.
I made a reservation at Ciccino through the OpenTable app
I made a reservation at Ciccino through the OpenTable app for a Friday evening. The process was smooth, and we were promptly seated upon arrival. Our journey began with a delightful selection of antipasti: the focaccia, scallop skewer, and lamb skewer. Focaccia: The focaccia impressed me with its crispy texture and robust herb flavor. Paired with quality olive oil, it set the tone for the meal. Scallop Skewer: The scallop skewer featured a crispy breading that encased juicy scallops. The balance of textures was spot-on, reminiscent of the equally tender lamb skewer. Lamb Skewer: Tender lamb sirloin and juicy! For our primi courses, we opted for the following: Pappardelle Lamb Ragout: This dish stole the show. The pappardelle pasta had the perfect al dente texture, and the lamb ragout was bursting with flavor. It's safe to say this was the best pappardelle I've ever tasted. Ravioli Carbonara (9 pieces): While the ravioli carbonara had potential, it fell slightly short. The saltiness was a tad overpowering, even though I appreciated the creamy filling of egg yolk and pecorino foam. The unassuming storefront had piqued our curiosity during previous walks by, and finally dining there was a treat. The attentive staff added to the overall positive experience. I'm already looking forward to returning and trying their duck breast!

We came to Ciccino at 6:30 on a Friday evening and were able to get seated immediately. We ordered three antipasti, the focaccia, scallop skewer, and lamb skewer. The focaccia was crispy and a great herb flavor. For the scallop skewer, I was just as impressed with the crispy breading on the outside while being nice and juicy on the inside, which was similar to the lamb skewer that was nice and tender. For our primi we ordered the Pappardelle Lamb Ragout and the Ravioli Carbonara. I was very impressed with the lamb ragout - the noodles were just right and the flavor was top notch. I did not like the ravioli carbonara as much. It was slightly on the salty side, but the pecorino foam was quite good. Overall I really enjoyed my dinner at Ciccino and would definitely consider coming back!

Pastas were delicious and service was great, but prices are out of touch, especially given some of the portion sizes.
Fresh, delightful food and lovely seating inside and outside
No, they do NOT use low-cost ingredients! My lunch salad was a generous size using fresher lettuce than I can get at the farmer's market or Berkeley Bowl right now. The pizza was also good, though that's not my favorite food. The service was excellent. We sat outside, midweek, which was very quiet, enjoying the trees and the yellow exterior of the building. Will definitely come back, maybe for dinner.
A new high quality addition to Nob Hill-Ciccino - Italian
A new high quality addition to Nob Hill-Ciccino - Italian slang for "sweetheart " is the best new jneighborhood place to eat great Italian food in a cozy atmosphere with attentive service. We tried two starters, house made warm focaccia and the frito misto- both looked and tasted great. The pasta, Pappardelle Boar Ragout was ample, delicious and perfectly prepared, the Ravioli Carbonara, rich and flavorful and the secondi, Duck Breast, an exquisite preparation served with a marinated pear complement . Do not skip dessert! The Panna cotta and the Tiramisu Mousse were high standard desserts that left us ready for our evening concert. Make reservations as this has become a very popular destination.

Perfect restaurant for a night out with friends or a couple's outing. Finally, a quiet place where you can have a conversation without loud music. Excellent food with a good selection of wines. And those ravioli carbonara ?!?!? I dream about them at night Along with the tartare della Rita and the scallop, shrimp and squid skewers! The cherry on top? The authentic Italian chef in the kitchen! Bravo

This hole in a wall Italian restaurant in Nob Hill is amazing! The dishes are delicious, especially the pastas and the skewers. Also, the restaurant has a very nice vibe, really good for date nights or hangout with friends and family. The staff are really sweet but sometimes the staffs comes and ask about the food a little too often. But overall a great experience and worth the price paid!!! Also, always make reservations here! 10/10 - pasta dishes 9/10 - service

Ciccino is fantastic! A small Family owned restaurant with a warm, intimate feel to it. The menu is world class from the appetizers to the dessert. The focaccia bread was some of the best I've ever had. The shrimp and scallop skewers were incredibly tasteful. I had the duck which was complimented by a Fernet Branca flavored pear and a complement of endive. My wife's pasta was outstanding. The panna cotta and tiramisu were the perfect finish to an outstanding night. We'll be back very soon!

Photos don't do this spot justice! We nearly missed our 7:00 pm reservation on a classic SF rainy day but were quickly seated in this warm but slightly upscale dinner spot. They were pretty busy but service was great off the bat, offering plenty of menu recommendations. We started off with a fresh focaccia, which might've been the best bread I've had in years. The starter only comes with two pieces (European portions they say) but the quality outshined the need for quantity as it was crispy on the outside but warm and fluffy on the inside, pairing perfectly with olive oil and balsamic. For the main course we tried the special - Gnocchi duck ragout - and the Ravioli Carbonara (per recommendation). While portions were smaller, the past itself was cooked perfectly. The carbonara had something of deep-fried crispy pancetta with a creamy but light orange-infused aerated sauce. Delicious, but I'm partial to a ragout, which was so tender and seasoned. The gnocchi itself was pillowy and soft with not much of a bite, which worked well for the dish. We ended the night with a velvety tiramisu - no complaints. The chef himself even brought it out to us! A true gem in the area and perfect for a date. Next time ordering a glass of wine for sure!

Food was flavorless and portions were very small for the price point. We sent our salad back. Service was not good either. The beet risotto had ok flavor but was served watery. An expensive miss for us.
Made a reservation for a Saturday night after seeing this
Made a reservation for a Saturday night after seeing this place make it on the SF Chronicle top 25 restaurant list. The place is small and quaint, and we were seated quickly. The service was efficient and prompt, and the food came out really quickly, but in a well paced way. The only down side is that they don't have a cocktail menu (just aperol spritz), but I usually order wine so it wasn't a huge issue for me. We started with the scallop skewer and the squid skewer, as well as the halibut carpaccio. The halibut was super fresh, but I found the skewers a little underwhelming for the price ($9-10/skewer, essentially one squid breaded and thinly sliced on a stick), and would honestly not order again personally. But the pastas were the real star, in particular, the ravioli carbonara - a cheesy, gooey, rich symphony of pasta, accented with delicious pieces of pancetta. The husband thought this was one of the best pasta dishes he has ever had, so do not miss out on it! We also had the night's special, which was gnocchi with duck ragout. This was okay, but really overshadowed by the ravioli. We finished our meal with a light Panna cotta with a berry compote- silky smooth, a perfect way to end the night. Overall, despite some underwhelming dishes, the ravioli carbonara was a real star, making this restaurant already worth the trip and price. I would highly recommend checking this place out, and don't forget to order the ravioli!
The best night in SF.
Best carbonara I've ever had, the experience was head to toe the best
Ciccino is an absolute gem.
.from the creative delicious menu to the lovely staff and ambiance.. I can't wait to return!!
Authentic food with warm yet casual ambiance.
Friendly and attentive service. Particularly appreciated the chef who checked in with us on the food by the end of the dinner service. Nice spot for a special night out.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
