Excellent meal and service.
Place has probably the best veal chop parmesan I've ever had and the linguine with clams is absolutely amazing as well. Can't go wrong with just about anything else either but those two dishes are just top notch
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I always make reservations a month in
My husband and I always make reservations a month in advance at Chef Vola's to celebrate our anniversary. We had reservations for 5:00pm downstairs on a Saturday. I remember the conversation with the woman I spoke to on the phone. Well we pay to park, go inside and give our name and phone number. Nothing. They said they do not a reservation for us. The get the manager. Very aggressive and rude. He would really not let me ask any questions. He said if I didn't get a confirmation then the is no reservation Now I am thinking the woman I spoke to never put the reservation through. I went back and looked on my phone and it shows out going call from me and then an hour later the in coming call from Chef Vola's. The manager said that there is really nothing he can do since the boat show was going on and ppl have reservations. Then he said I can seat you but you have to eat really fast. WHAT!! Never mind and we left. Mistakes happen and this is a lesson learned for me to always call back anyplace and confirm. Unfortunately they have great staff service and I like there food but the manager should be ashamed of how he talks to ppl. So we will mot be back. There are many other restaurants in AC/Margate/Ventnor that we can go to.

The food was amazing and the service was excellent even on Valentines Day! The entrees and the deserts! Wow don't skip desert here!

Everything was on point and then some. Our server while I forget his name was amazing looks like Jason Mamora

Incredible service, friendly staff. The bone in veal parm is incredible. I'll never eat veal parm anywhere else because it won't top this.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is the real deal.
There is very little left of Atlantic City from a century ago, but this gem remains. I absolutely love that they kept the downstairs as cozy as it was in 1921. The bone-in veal parmigiana is every bit as good as you've heard, and the linguine with clams was some of the best I've ever had. We tried a number of desserts and they were all delicious, too. The salad was great and we enjoyed the bufalo mozzarella appetizer. Take it from a South Philly guy: If you love Italian food and are going to AC, this is the spot. Get the veal!

I haven't been here in 30 years and now I just ask WHY???? Delicious! Everything was delicious from the Veal Chop, Steak Special, Tomato prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella appetizer! The service was awesome and our 2 servers were fantastic! Great personalities and very attentive and knowledgeable! Be back VERY soon!

Chef Vola's offers a delightful dining experience that begins with a simple yet welcoming table starter of bread and oil, alongside delicious garlic bread, setting a promising tone for the meal ahead. The option to bring your own bottle of wine adds a personal touch to the dining experience, allowing guests to pair their favorite wines with their meals. The house salad is a standout, featuring a vibrant mix of romaine lettuce, cheese, banana peppers, red onions, pepperoni, cucumbers, tomatoes, and homemade croutons, all tossed in a tangy red wine vinaigrette. It's a refreshing start that prepares the palate for more indulgent courses to come. The Linguine in Special Ricotta Blush Sauce impresses with its rich, thick sauce, demonstrating the kitchen's ability to elevate classic Italian dishes. The Very Large Veal Parmesan is another highlight, with its generous cutlets, thick breading, and a perfect combination of great sauce and melted cheese, showcasing the care and quality ingredients that go into each dish. Desserts are a must at Chef Vola's, with the warm Apple Ricotta Cheesecake and its accompanying scoop of salted caramel Gelato offering a comforting end to the meal. However, it's the Chilled Banana Cream Pie that truly captivates, with its fantastic flavor making it a memorable finale. While the coffee may be average, the overall dining experience is anything but, thanks to the very attentive staff and the positive atmosphere. Despite the condensed seating, the space feels intimate and welcoming, making it an ideal setting for a great dinner. Chef Vola's proves to be a charming destination for those seeking a cozy ambiance and meticulously prepared Italian cuisine.

In this world of who can outdo who, it's nice to try a throwback in time kind of place to eat. This restaurant has been here forever and it's in a big old house on a street that time forgot in Atlantic city. It's as plain and old fashioned as it gets. It's dimly lit, no decorations, funny old music playing. Let's talk food. Started with the chicken soup. Awesome. Just try it. Split the house salad, very good, not as good as olive garden but still decent. Chicken Parm was great. Chicken cacciatore was also great. Dessert get the lemoncello pie. Insane. If you want wine you can ask and they get it delivered in like 10 minutes from around the corner. Service was great, everyone working there was nice. Clean bathroom. Take someone who loves a throwback to the old days of going out to eat.

Food - excellent Portions - gigantic Waiters and waitresses are very. Food came quick and we were in and out within an hour. I called two weeks in advance to book a Sunday dinner reservation. I left a voicemail and got a call back about 3 days later. The woman who called me back had an unfriendly tone. But whatever maybe she had a bad day. The day before our reservation I called to ask if the restaurant was cash only or accepted credit cards. A man answered this time and also had an unfriendly tone. He told me I should have read the confirmation email... I initially had a bad feeling about this place because of the two rude interactions I had over the phone. However when we came the staff were extremely nice. Food was great. But very pricey. We paid $140 after tax+tip for 2 entrees and dessert. Overall, food was delicious and I'll be back next year for a special occasion -1 star for rude phone interactions -1 star for high prices

Super nice people. I hate to say it but not good. Been dying to get into this place and walked out so disappointed. I read previous reviews saying there was no flavor. They were right. Linguine w clams tastes like water. No flavor. Veal parm was decent. Blush sauce- meh. Best thing was the red peppers with anchovies. Both of which came out of a can and were plated. Def most flavor of the night. . They were so nice but we walked out of there with 14lbs of stuff that went into the trash. Cool spot. I'm guessing a chef must have changed recently. Still cool experience. BYOB didn't suck. Again- service was exceptional.
Be the first to ReplyBest meal in AC hands down.
Service is exactly what I want in Jersey. Attentive, on point, and just a sprinkle of attitude. Been here twice, and have had the veal chop both times. Insanely delicious and larger than my gigantic head. I can't wait to go back and will make sure to bring my fat pants next time. Don't miss out, but make sure you make a reservation.
Be the first to ReplyPlace is perfect and exactly what you want.
Old school AC shore house serving up some real deal stuff. Everyone that works here was extremely professional and nice with my family. Excellent excellent service! Now the food... Don't sleep on the stracciatella soup! Veal chop was very good, nice quality piece of veal. Side note if you like fra diavolo you can add that sauce to your side of macaroni. This one's definitely got kick! but very good. Lastly I'd say stick with the warm ricotta cheesecake for dessert. We added some warm strawberries to ours. I also had my 6 year old son with us and as I said everyone was extremely nice. You can bring your own wine too.

..the food!.... I thought I'd write about the establishment and some negative reviews. You arrive at a house in a neighborhood. Like grandmom's house. Because it is!! Being 6' 4" I had to dunk down to get into a basement area. Kinda dark and a bit crammed. Food going by, noisy at times and people coming and going. So what!! It's like grandmom's house on holiday. If you want ambiance go to Capriccio or even Cafe 2825. Here it's all about the food. Traditional Philly-South Jersey Italian. The Host was interactive and our main server Steve a pro. Its hard to get exciting day after day over the same items but they did. Many assistant servers interacted but we were not rushed. All and them knowledgeable and fun! The night started with excellent seeded Italian bread and garlic toast pieces. The house salad was off the wall good. Like a mini antipasto with perfect dressing. Soop was excellent. Veal Piccata was tender and delicious. Sausage and broccoli rabe perfect and large. Sea bass with macadamia nuts and lime tequila was unique and pleasing. The crab cakes albeit expensive for two, were large and filled with crab. Personally, the basil used as part of dressing was not to my liking, but my wife loved it. Veal Parm was excellent. Large and tender. The mix of cheeses gave it a tangy flavor. Really great. Three pasta dishes complemented each entree. Of note the "sauce" is a gravy as its described in Philly. Its thinner and plainer the way gravy should be. You can add cheese to it if you like. Finally, desserts of Banana cream pie was super and lighter than most I have had and amaretto cream pie difficult to stop eating. I had enough taken home for lunch the next day. If I had to rate based on the overall experience it might be 4 but this is a 5-star food establishment. A definite return planned.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent!! Took my wife for Valentine's dinner.
Arrived early, gentleman was more than accommodating, never felt more welcome, service great, assistants great, awesome food, my wife had nothing but compliments, she even went out of box and ordered crab cakes and shrimp, we laughed the whole night from appetizers to entrees to dessert. Food was perfectly prepared. My new favorite restaurant. Can't wait to go back. Thank you Chef!!

We are regulars at Chef Vola's & try to get there once every 3-4 months. I either get the bone in veal or crab cakes with the salad & a pasta. It's always great. It's also a BYOB so bring a decent bottle of wine for dinner. Yes it's hard to get reservations & a little cramped but the food is always worth the trip!!
Be the first to ReplyThis place did not live up to the hype.
The seating was very awkward. We got eggplant parm and angel hair with clam sauce, and it took over an hour to come out. The eggplant parm was bland and greasy, and the pasta with clams was very basic (think grocery store clams and pasta). We also ordered a bottle of water to split during the meal, which was over $10. Overall, we were not impressed and will not be returning.
Be the first to ReplyWhat is the hype of this place? I don't get it.
We were so excited to score a reservation and I am only giving 2 stars because service was great. Other than that the food was so bland, no flavor at all and you are forced to all order a entree which is ridiculous. We shouldn't be forced to order that much food. The pastas were over cooked, fish was drowned in sauce and chicken parmigiana was soaked in a ketch up like sauce. On top of that desserts were so bland, not impressed and will not return.

I've thoroughly enjoyed every visit to Chef Vola's; it's truly great for hosting groups. The place has a wonderful joint-like feel to it since it quite literally blends in with the surrounding houses. Once inside, the service is exceptional. I would be remiss if I did not credit our most recent server, Stevie, for helping to create a great evening. The food is consistently well-prepared and is actually quite generous in portions. Perhaps my biggest gripe with the place is the difficulty in choosing what to order since there are so many contenders on the menu. Highly, highly recommend.

Be the first to ReplyYou don't have to be a local to know Chef Volas is famous.
Boardwalk Empire offers some insight into the restaurant's phenomenal meals. Although famous, their staff makes you feel like you've been transported to your grandmother's kitchen table for a home cooked meal. Every dish tastes as if there is nothing but love cooked into each dish. I've wanted to visit Chef Volas for years and the wait didn't disappoint.Veal Chop Sea Bass Asparagus Tossed Salad Coconut, pecan, walnut, ricotta cheesecake Butterscotch ricotta cheesecake (*Disclaimer-their portions are HUGE. I split some of these dishes with 2-3 people)
