Insulting
This is a very fancy restaurant. The staff was mostly friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu items, and very quick. Except, when we first sat down, before we were all even at the table and situated, the hostess asked us to hand over our napkin rings. We all had the impression that they were afraid we would take them. If that’s the case, it would be better to not even use the napkin rings. We all felt insulted. I’m not sure if that set the mood or if we just weren’t very hungry, but we ordered small plates, basically appetizers. They were small for the cost, so we didn’t stay for a full dinner. The restaurant was beautiful and a really nice place, it just didn’t work for us that day.
Be the first to ReplyFreezing cold Carthay Circle
The temperature inside the restaurant was freezing, the air conditioning was on full although it was cold outside and going dark. When we asked if they could turn it down we were told it would take an hour and a half. The food was poor, main course was just the meat with no vegetables or sides for nearly $50
Be the first to ReplyCarthay Circle had the ugliest and worst tasting entree I have ever had
I was very much looking forward to dinner at Carthay Circle but I was greatly disappointed with our experience. We ordered the Parker House rolls, which were delicious and exceedingly overpriced at $14 for 6 rolls. The menu seemed very limited. I selected the turkey schnitzel which had a cranberry chutney and some sort of stuffing. The plating was incredibly ugly, not one green thing on the plate, just two slabs of schnitzel with chunks of stuffing hiding underneath. The schnitzel was bland, bland, bland. I had to POUR salt on it to get any kind of flavor. The only good thing I could say about it was that it was warm. And it was also very overpriced at about $44. We had a discount coupon and it still hurt to pay about $60 per person for the worst meal I have ever had. This is my fifth time eating here and every other occasion has been lovely. The ambiance is lovely, but you can’t serve dog food to people and then overcharge them on top of it. This must be the new Disney way. The chef at Carthay Circle should be deeply ashamed.

I decided to book this restaurant for dinner for my daughter’s first birthday , which we were celebrating at Disneyland. Gross error. We had booked two reservations at the same time for 5 and 4 people. Although we were not expecting to be seated together we requested it. We were informed they would try their best. I asked if we could add a cake as dessert since it was my daughter’s birthday and I had not included it in the reservation. The answer of the person at the desk was “we don’t offer complimentary cakes”. I never asked for a complimentary cake, and I found her tone and assumption offensive. We waited for over one hour to be seated, no updates or apology for the delay. The two parties were not seated together. Although we did not expect this to be accommodated at 7 pm, it would have been a nice gesture at almost 8:30 pm when we were taken to our table, and noticed how there were not many clients coming back to the tables that were being cleaned. The food was mediocre. The only person that seemed to enjoy her food was my mother (party of 5). We were checked upon a total of zero times during our dinner (no asking about food, more drinks, water refills, etc). We left without having dessert. If you want to waste some money, this is a great place to do so. If you are looking for a nice dinner with an enjoyable atmosphere, I’d recommend looking somewhere else

This is an exquisite fine dining Restaurant located in California Adventure Park. It will be pricy but SO worth it! I really enjoyed the Duck Confit & mushroom crepe as an appetizer. Mai Tai’s are the BEST here🍹❤️. Try the Scallops or really anything on the Entree menu❤️😍
Be the first to ReplyFamily Dinner at Carthay
This is a beautiful restaurant. It is a classic. They are pictures on the wall of Walt Disney at opening nights of movies. The food and service (Michael Q) were excellent. Server was very attentive. One of the more expensive restaurants at Disney - main course runs around $46. The food was good.
Be the first to ReplyNice Ambiance - Too Expensive for What You Get
Ambiance was great. We were lucky that for a while we were the only ones in the room where we were seated. The benefit of an early dinner time. We were not lacking for service. Our server was actually around a bit too much to be honest. But she was nice and polite and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was fine. We enjoyed it all. But really let’s be honest it was very expensive. For three of us the total was about $225 including 2 of us having one alcoholic drink each. We probably wouldn’t go back for that price. There are other locations, even on the Disney properties that offer just as good food at more reasonable prices. We would even go to the Blue Bayou again before going here and the Blue Bayou is equally expensive.
Be the first to ReplyI would recommend a different restaurant
The food was good, but the portions were tiny. Super expensive and pretty much customer service sucks now at Disney. We’ve come to Disney several times over the past 20 years in Florida at Disney World, and in California at Disneyland. We used to always leave feeling super happy and excited to make our next trip to come back, but this time was much different. Many of the staff seemed to have an edge for them. Some were ok but as an example I spent several hundred dollars on dinner and I was accosted for using Disney gift cards and then for sitting down in the waiting area waiting for my family to be done. I would recommend going somewhere else.
Be the first to ReplyBe prepared, good food as long as you like it, the only way the arrogant chef will serve it
I was excited to finally get a reservation to eat at the famous Carthay Circle in Disney's California Adventure. Have been looking forward to it all week. Menu looks really good with a couple of minor things. I really wanted the pork chop, so I ordered it, then asked what I could get something instead of creamed corn as, to say I'm not a fan, would be an understatement. I was informed by the waits that "the chef doesn't like to serve the set, up any different than is on the menu." I'm sitting here about to drop $150-200 on a dinner with my daughter to cap off our annual Disney vacation, and because of the arrogance of the chef, I'll only get a partial meal. Won't be back. Won't be ordering an additional side as planned, wine, or dessert as had been planned. His arrogance cost his restaurant additional income tonight. I'm guessing that doesn't matter to him. I told them to keep the corn as I wouldn't touch it. Be warned, like it his way or else. I do have to say the pork chop, although lonely on the otherwise empty plate, was good.
Be the first to ReplyRude employee
One of the employees Johnny was very rude, and made uncomfortable advances on my girl friend. When asked to stop he just brushed it off like we were the ones in the wrong….

I've ate at Carthay Circle twice this past week. Prior to 2020, this was my most favorite restaurant the Park. They used to serve a beer flight of three Anaheim brews with a glassful of nuts; no more. Trying to get a reservation is like pulling teeth out so I was happy to do two walk-ins this week. The first day I had the VERY EXPENSIVE crab cake (yes, JUST ONE) for $22. It was absolutely delicious but again, you get just one puck-sized cake. The server even stated it was "puck-size." On my next visit I had the chicken meatballs. They arrived at my table before I could even get my glasses out of my purse. This dish costs $16 for two chicken balls. It was served not even warm and was absolutely disgusting! It didn't look like chicken, it didn't taste like chicken; it tasted like tuna fish! I forced one ball down my throat and gave the other one back. I told the server how I felt about it and he never offered me something different; instead he just charged me for the plate, so I deducted it from his tip. I waited about two months to finally get into this place; last visit was around 2017. It is just SAD now! I don't know who is managing that place but, they should hire someone else. I will not be back! I spent almost $100 each visit, and now I have finally learned my lesson to never return. Go the the Italian restaurant in DCA; huge portions, great tasting food, and wonderful service.
Be the first to ReplyGreat theming, poor service and not great food
We had a reservation and were looking forward to our dinner. Things did not start well as the check in process was handled badly by the front desk. We were then waiting around for our server for some time - the only attentive member of staff was the person pouring water. The theming of the restaurant is perfect if you are a fan of Disney history. We had a cocktail each and an entree. Cocktails were good. Braised beef pasta was not good and clearly made with poor quality ingredients. My husband described it like kids pasta and lacking flavour. I requested a vegetarian option- not on the menu but they were able to prepare butternut squash ravioli. This was nice but not that exciting, and I expected as a vegetarian dish that it might be a bit cheaper than the other entrees which were all meat and fish based…. But no! They charged $48 the same price as my husband’s beef. Truly shocking price and I have eaten in many Disney restaurants (such as Victoria & Alberts) and fine dining / Michelin establishments around the world. Needless to say we wanted to get out of there and did not stay for a drink, dessert or coffee due to the disappointing experience. In total we were in there for 35 minutes and felt ripped off. We are fortunate to be able to have good disposable income for our vacations, so are less price sensitive than many others, but this was robbery.

Finally was able to book a reservation for Carthay Circle at CA Adventure. We were greeted nicely, seated timely. Water was given immediately and our drink order was taken. The ambience was perfect! However, we were only given one menu for the 4 of us to share and no one ever described the menu items or asked for appetizers. We also noticed that we had limited selection. My granddaughter ordered salmon, my husband the roasted chicken breast and my daughter and I got the pasta. We also ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer. First, the crab cakes was ONE crab cake and it was $22. We had to o split that 4 ways as our as our " appetizer.". Let's just say we each got a bite. Second, it was served at the same time as our meal. On top of that, my granddaughter's salmon was the size of one half of a Snickers bar. It was the size of her 10 year old hand. Further, the menu says it come we with a salad of brussel sprouts, apples, and cranberries. However, the brussel sprouts were just the leaves, the apples were shavings, and there were like 4 cranberries. The entire side salad could fit in a tablespoon. My husband got the roasted chicken breast and rice. The chicken breast must have been from the tiniest chicken, or it was just a quarter breast. The serving of rice was a tablespoon portion. There was nothing wrong with the pasta. In fact, we shared it with my husband and granddaughter so they had enough to eat. Lunch cost us $180 which did not include alcoholic drinks. We paid the same at Blue Bayou the day before where we had so much food we were stuffed. Thankfully, money isn't a problem for us but the experience at Carthay Circle was a borderline money scam . Never going there again.
Be the first to ReplyWorst experience at one of my favorite Disney parks restaurants
It started out so well, friendly hosts, beautiful table, friendly server. Ordered our drinks and they showed up without any issues and fast too! Ordered our food and the starters arrived quickly and tasted amazing. Then everything ground to a halt. Dishes sat on the table for 20 minutes not one person stopped by to clear the dishes, offer water or even try to sell us another glass of wine or anything. When we finally were offered some more water then our food showed up but it was obvious that it had sat in the window under the lamps for quite a while because the garnish was wilted, the food was rubbery and the sauce was set on the plate. Worst of all the table siting next to us was sat right after us and they still did not have their main courses when the same server asked them if they were ready for dessert! Overall extremely disappointed and will not be back or recommend to anyone we know.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, but portion can be more generous
Probably the nicest restaurant here in Disneyland. Was told to wait up to 45mins but I got my table like in 10? I don't remember there is a lot of variety of food to choose from. But we had a decent meal there. Portion (or the plating to create a visual). can be more generous. Despite so, the taste was excellent! Remember to get a virtue queue before heading to the restaurant.

Our dear friends Aaron and Kim at the Bar area are Amazing with both convention and drink!!!! It’s not always easy to get a reservation but if you asked to walk into the bar you just might get lucky!
Be the first to ReplyStumbled upon this 5-star Oasis
While wandering around Disney adventure land we found this impressive restaurant. We didn’t have reservations so my wife and I went to the front where they referred us to the inside counter and Ashley said she could squeeze us in if we were patient. Shortly after she had a table ready for us upstairs. Luke took us to our table. He was very friendly and informative gave us a brief history about the restaurant. Then we had a wonderful server in Eileen we both had martinis white Seabass wine we had amazing desserts one of each. And we were actually sad to go back out into the park as we were in this five-star restaurant oasis
Be the first to ReplyOld Hollywood Splendor
Reminded me of the Disney days of old. Exquisite service, beautiful setting and attention to detail. The whole meal was delicious. An extra special treat for fans of old Hollywood and Disney history. It’s a kind of elevated Hollywood Brown Derby at Walt Disney World in Florida. We had lunch in the dining room and we’re then able to snag a table the following day in the downstairs lounge. We are definitely going to get dinner on a future visit, though the prices could be a tad lower. But it’s Disney… what can you do.
Be the first to ReplyRude hostesses and management.
Hostess staff just plain rude. Management incompetent. Not at all trained in the Disney World philosophy of making customers happy. Waiters were good. Problem is with Management and hostess attitudes towards patrons. Asked to eat in the main dinning room we would wait. They took our phone number never called it. For $450 four people you expect them to at least be polite. Take a walk through restaurant to look at the place then eat off property.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Experience
As a lifelong Disney fan, I was excited that my group and I were able to land a coveted reservation at Carthay Circle. Our expectations going in were manageable since we assumed that the quality of food would be mediocre and that the experience was more novelty. We were pleasantly surprised. Our cocktails were balanced and delicious. And, let's talk about the PERFECTLY cooked proteins. My group ordered each of the entrees, and the salmon, duck, and pork chop all came out perfect. The pacing of our service was disappointing and felt more pronounced given we were one of the last reservations of the evening and the dining room had started clearing out by the time we got our cocktails. Pricing did seem a bit high overall but felt aligned with what we would expect eating in a Disney park.
Be the first to ReplyFallen Star
Wow. This one-time superstar restaurant has really hit a new low with our family. We love the setting, the service and usually the food.
But after our last, extremally disappointing dinner, we will be skipping this former gem for a while.
First, even very expensive restaurants around the world offer bread service. The amazing squaw bread is gone! Now, you may purchase bread service and receive one small loaf of pedestrian white cheese bread that is a total throw away.
The appetizers ranged from odd, greasy to disappointing - cold tiny soup, cold greasy fritters, shrimp cream, and a salad with brown pears and no flavor. But the most truly disgusting offering was a turkey pasta. The small, rich, mushy dish was a mistake from the concept and an insult from the preparation. This would get any chef kicked off Top Chef with disdain. Even, the minuscule salmon was tough, overcooked, salty and cold.
We skipped desserts and paid a highly priced bill that we would have never blinked at previously. We felt ripped off, disappointed and confused how this all changed so much for the worse.
Something is broken at Cathay Circle, and we hope they fix it soon so this onetime superstar can rise again.
Gréât place to eat at California adventure Disney park.
Gréât restaurant recreated from an pre existing Disney theater from Hollywood. Loads of memorabilia and photos. Food is different and very good. I had the gumbo and my friend had an excellent appetizer.
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambience but heavily overpriced
Great ambience (replica of an old house with some history!!!) Food was ok but nothing special. For what we had heavily overpriced. Nice staff though. Reservation with credit card necessary but hard to get (far in advance booked out).
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful surprise…
Where else can you have martinis and a double chocolate sundae? It was amazingly delicious as were the martinis. Highly recommend…

Carthay Circle is one of favorite places and a must visit when I am in Disney's California Adventure, whether for drinks or for dinner. The atmosphere is incredible! Disney did an incredible job of re-creating Carthay Circle in DCA.
The service has been exceptional every time I have visited. The bar tenders mix a delicious cocktail and the Black Pearl is one of their hidden gems (it is very strong). The food! The food is wonderful! I have enjoyed several meals at Carthay Circle and all of them have been delicious and worth every penny.
I have been with a party as small as 2 and a party of 8 for dinner. I have also enjoyed cocktails in the downstairs bar and enjoyed their appetizers. All my visits were memorable and I will try to get a reservation on my next visit to the Disneyland Resort.
