Carillon Miami Wellness Resort Reviews from The Last Year
Complete waste of TONS of money!!!
What a major disappointment. Three friends and I had been anticipating this fun girls trip to a spa and beach for over a month. From the time we got there to the time we checked out, every person we interested with at the front desk of the hotel lobby and the front desk of the spa ranged from incompetent to purposefully rude. The exceptions are the lovely women who work in the spa area and the women who provide the spa services as well as the women who clean the rooms. Our experiences included being overcharged for treatments, being charged for treatments we did not receive, being treated with disdain and disrespect when asked to rectify the overcharges, having a construction worker walk into a treatment room during a facial, being jarred awake during a $250 treatment by drilling and hammering, being told the wrong times for treatments, the wrong treatments that were booked, needing to explore 5 floors to find a working ice machine, and experiencing several of the features of the hydrotherapy room not in service at various times during our five day stay. My favorite was arguing over a $36 charge for a service we did not receive. We had to escalate it three times to two managers. We truly did not receive the service but honestly the principle of not refunding $36 out of close to $8,000 is so petty. The amount of money we spent on this vacation compared to the experience we had actually makes me a little physically ill. We knew we were indulging a lot. And we would pay for it. Except it wasn’t luxurious and we didn’t feel special, welcome or respected from start to finish. Please save your money or use it someplace that will respect you.
Wellness + Muscle Recovery
I am a professional athlete who had the opportunity to take advantage of the world class and innovative tools the resort provides. I'm always looking for the best ways for muscle recovery and by using the Wellness facilities I can have a better recovery, less soreness and better sleep! The staff was very welcoming and the facilities are top class. I felt very relaxed and at ease at all times, would recommend!
Relaxing stay at the Carillon
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the Carillon and had a very good and relaxing visit. While others have correctly pointed out that it is not truly a 5 star property, I think it does live up to at least 4 stars in terms of quality of the rooms, the amenities and overall atmosphere. If you are passionate about health and wellness it is a great place to stay and there are many more pros than cons. It is in a great location in a quieter section of North Miami Beach and has a Publix across the street which is very convenient. When I checked in, I came in first thing in the morning and I was extremely happy that the hotel was able to accommodate my early check in request. That was a huge plus. I did not get an upgrade however despite booking with AMEX Fine Hotels and Resorts. It would have been a nice gesture for the front desk person to offer a complimentary breakfast upon arrival as I was waiting for my room to be ready and since no upgrade was offered and I had a complimentary breakfast offer throughout my stay. However this was flatly and somewhat rudely denied. The hotel will offer you a complimentary spa treatment as a makeup for the lack of upgrade but the items offered are more like sample treatments and are not really of any significant value. Pros: 1. My room was very nice. It had a partial ocean view (which they call ocean view as opposed to ocean front which faces the ocean directly). I would highly recommend getting a room with a balcony as some rooms do not have windows that open. Rooms have kitchenette and are very much like a luxury apartment. The rooms are very quiet and there is very little noise from other rooms or hallways. 2. Very nicely appointed gym which is open 24 hrs. It would be nice to have more variety in terms of kettlebells, and there isn't really a bench press to speak of, but it has plenty of equipment that gets the job done and was never that crowded. 3. I had a great massage at the spa and enjoyed the sauna daily. They also have a great rooftop pool for relaxing and swimming laps. They do not have a cold plunge in the spa and should definitely consider adding one. Sauna could be hotter. 4. Tons of great fitness classes daily to choose from. 5. Very easy to get a beach chair and umbrella and the beach is nice. Beach staff are pleasant and helpful and there is not a long wait to get help to direct you to a chair. More effort could be made to ensure the beach area is kept clean however and in order to be a truly high end resort, I would suggest an upgrade to loungers with cushions which are way more comfortable than the current ones. 6. Hotel property is well maintained and has a very relaxing, quiet, and stress free atmosphere. Clientele are generally upscale couples and families. If you are looking for the trendy vibe similar to the W or the Edition in South Beach, this is not the hotel for you. 7. Staff are generally helpful and courteous. Maids did a great job both during the day and at turn-down service in the evening. Cons: The Strand Restaurant was by far the worst part of the hotel. Service is agonizingly slow, and having to be made to wait for a table when the restaurant was half empty was very frustrating. Wait staff are inattentive and often disappear for long periods of time, and food at breakfast was average at best. Seating outdoors was offered on some days and others not. Tables by the window offer a view out towards the beach but are not shaded so when they seat you there it gets very hot and you are blinded by the sun. In summary, it is the little things that the Carillon can improve upon to make it a 10/10 experience but overall, I had an excellent stay and would definitely consider a return.
Fantastic muscle recovery and relaxation!
I’m a professional tennis player traveling the world week in and week out. I am constantly looking to keep my body healthy and ready to compete at the highest level. I found Carillon Miami Wellness Resort the perfect place to do so. I was not only able to relax and come to peace, but their groundbreaking “touchless circuit” helped my muscle recovery tremendously. By completing a series of top notch treatments I felt less sore and well energized after a tough week of competition. I would 100% revisit the Carillon on my next visit to Miami and recommend these treatments to everyone (athletes and non-athletes) for better muscle recovery and a sense of revitalization! All staff members are super friendly and you will find the beautiful accommodation a real treat.
You owe it yourself to definitely try their touchless spa treatments and other amenities
Absolutely phenomenal property, views from everywhere, and the most impressive touchless spa experiences in their spectacular spa. It’s essential to come try these state of the art and amazing touchless treatments. They also have a phenomenal restaurant in the lobby. Best touchless treatment was at least equivalent to even better than prior 80-90 minute massages elsewhere but more effective in 25 minutes. I wish I could move to Miami to become a member here as it was that amazing! Love Carillon and we will be back!
Pretty disappointing stay
If a picture is worth a thousand words, here's eight thousand. The hotel is tired and in desperate need of revamp. The beds are supposedly adjustable, but they're essentially just air mattresses that will kill your back. Low quality linens and mattress protectors will make your sweatiest night's sleep in a long time! Only thing worse than the overall condition was the service-- waiting 30+ mins for breakfast and then being rushed to order, or waiting almost an hour for your valet (only parking option) can really sour the mood on a relaxing vacation. This resort did more harm than good for our week away from it all.
Carillon Spa -ReLounge Chair unique experience
My son and I recently had an extraordinary spa experience where we were introduced to an innovative massage therapy on the ReLounge bed. This unique treatment provided us with amazing results. As a university student majoring in music, my son, who plays the cello, often experiences intense strain on his back due to his posture while playing. However, after the session, he left feeling revitalized and completely relaxed. My own experience was equally transformative. I left the spa feeling deeply relaxed and rejuvenated. Sonia, the Spa Manager, played a pivotal role in ensuring our satisfaction. Her expertise and attentiveness made our spa visit truly exceptional. Mission accomplished indeed!
Overpriced and NOT five-star.
This is NOT a five-star hotel. It does not come close. I came here in large part because I wanted to avoid the throngs in South Beach while in Miami with my family, and because this was an AmEx Fine Hotels and Resorts property. I feel ripped off. I paid more than $700/night for what is barely a three-star hotel. Seldom got housekeeping. Ice machine on our floor was broken and never fixed. Room was in poor shape, with bathroom doors that did not work. Lobby is dated. Everything is insanely overpriced. And the staff seem deeply unhappy and totally overwhelmed. My rate came with breakfast, but they never really seemed to be able to seat us—lots of empty tables but a very lengthy wait. (They said 10 minutes, it took 30.) It’s as though the hotel owners are trying to save money on services while still claiming to be a five-star property. Never again.
Definitely not 5 star…
While this hotel may have 5 stars, I don’t see it. The property seems very worn; I thought I read it had been recently updated, but that does not seem in evidence. The pool area, in particular, is rather dreary and small. There are not enough chairs for everyone; and though I was assured by the pool staff, they would find me when chairs were available, I had to fend for myself. Even though I asked several times. The pool is quite small. There is a bar & the bartender was very polite and on-the-ball. However, I have to take issue with an 18% auto-gratuity on the very over-priced drinks & food ($23 for hummus, pita & a few veggies?). Typically, bar tips are lower than full table service. I don’t object to an auto-grat, but 18% for a couple of pool cocktails & snack food seems high (especially since they were overpriced items already). Our room was fine, it’s nice having the kitchen. But, again not a 5 star room. The closet was oddly small for a room for 4 people. The spa, which was the big draw for me, was fine. I had an excellent deep tissue massage by Eileen (she gets 5 stars). The thermal areas, which are available for any guest are nice—steam, sauna, spa pool, igloo & rain shower. And, the heated loungers are heaven. The staff seems overwhelmed; they overbooked the infrared sauna so I had to come back (but, they comped the treatment, which was very nice). Once I did get to do the infrared sauna, a spa staffer was supposed to come get me when it was done, but she never did. I saw the timer was at zero, so I let myself out and went back to the ladies spa room. I wouldn’t say the spa is beautiful—more utilitarian. The decor feels kind of random, without a unifying look. Admittedly, that doesn’t really matter, the treatments are why you go, but at a place that bills itself as the largest spa on the Eastern seaboard, they might have chosen a better interior designer. Overall, I don’t think I would return to the Carillon. If I was in Miami, I would visit the spa, but take a pass on the hotel.
The Carillon Spa has no rival. The service exceeds expectations. The treatment options endless. You become new!
There is no spa like the Carillon Spa. The service is exceptional. The treatment options beyond what you could ever imagine. They are truly committed to your complete mind, body and soul, Rejuvenation and wellness. I love the fact that they are not just focused on topical treatments, but they really want you to genuinely feel and look great from the inside out. I am literally addicted to that place. I won’t go anywhere else. They are so consistent as well. Every time I have ever gone there it’s been just as magical as the first time. This is kind of how you can tell if a place is fully committed. Their consistency is unwavering. They seem to also always be looking for new and innovative ways to help their clients feel and look even better. They always seem to be on the cutting edge of the latest treatments for every single situation or condition you could possibly have from fatigue and anxiety to muscle soreness and migraines. The spa at the Carillon is the only place where I can genuinely say I am guaranteed to feel new and whole again.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
