Delicious croque madame and great location at Trocadero for a good view of the Eiffel Tower. Stopped here on a layover with luggage and the servers were very kind to help find us a table with enough room. One of my favorite cafes in Paris!
Be the first to ReplyPrepared for the long tourists line! Must try hot chocolate.
Tips: Get the combo for hot chocolate, a juice, a croissant and some toast for 20 euros as opposed to one cup of hot chocolate for 11 euros. The hot chocolate was sooo good by itself without the cream. Cream was very good too. Croissants and chocolate croissants are average. I would return to have the hot chocolate again when I'm in Paris!

I first discovered Carette years ago from their very small Montmartre location and immediately fell in love. I feel like a girl never forgets her first gift of fresh macaroons flown straight in from France, mine were Ladurée - many many moons ago when Ladurée did not exists in the states. Each time I visit Paris I try more and more macaroons but Carette remain my favorite among the endless options and larger more famous stores. This past trip I decided I'd make it into a little hot chocolate tour as well, having hot cocoas from all of the places. I made it to 3 ;) 2 of which I'd had before but realized I don't know that I'd ever had Carette's. I trained over early Monday morning after brekke to secure a box of macaroons to bring home to my sons girlfriend. I wanted her to have options :) and to be able to enjoy some of my favorites.I built her a box at the counter and then secured a table to enjoy a hot chocolate and a couple of macaroons there. My hot cocoa was great but I think my favorite remains the sit down option at Angelina if you don't mind waiting for a table, or even perhaps their takeaway option.Service was good and I'm not exactly sure what it is about their macaroons that make them consistently my favorite year in and year out but they simply are. When I arrived home, my sons gf and I enjoyed coffee and had a little taste test with the options I brought home and I still very much always vote for Carette, don't get me wrong I love all macaroons so don't pass up the other lovely places but I highly recommend these. This location is also perfect! Literally steps from the metro which I'm sure you'll be riding everywhere if you're doing Paris right.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely worth the hype.
Waited in line for 10-15 minutes. Served quickly. Space is tight inside and a bit stuffy so I would get a table outside if possible. Pastries and hot chocolate were delicious. I'm sure other places serve just as tasty hot chocolate but would recommend if it's your first time in Paris

The location and familiarity of this landmark location are the reason this place is popular. The pastries are lovely, but $27 Eu for a basic chicken sandwich was ridiculous and the sandwich was nothing to remember. Try the hot chocolate for fun, but skip lunch- it is grossly over priced. Many other beautiful and delicious options with more reasonable prices all around the area.

Kind of over rated! We sat inside and it smelt like rotten milk or vomit. The hot coco was okay. I would save your time and money and go to Angela's!

About a 15 to 20 minute wait early in the morning for people clamoring to eat breakfast, get some yummy pastries and drink their delicious hot chocolate. The croissant was nice and flaky. Paired that with the bold and flavorful hot chocolate was heaven on earth. The hot chocolate was for real good! Loved dipping my croissant in the hot chocolate!
Be the first to ReplyThis was my last meal in Paris, and it was amazing.
I had the hot chocolate, which was so delicious! I didn't want to eat anything too heavy, so I got the scrambled eggs with mushrooms. These were the best scrambled eggs I have ever had! It also came with a yummy salad with a wonderful dressing. My waitress was very sweet, too!
Be the first to ReplyI highly recommend their hot chocolate (Chocolat Carette).
If you like dark chocolate like me, it's a 15/10. I didn't really like their finger sandwiches specifically the Saumon Fumé. The Salade Oeuf was alright. The French Onion Soup was also bomb.

Extremely busy at any given day or night when I walk past this place in Trocadéro (Paris). Settled here for post dinner/dessert. Well worth it. We had the pistachio cake, crepes chocolate with Chantilly cream, and hot chocolate. Will return for other sweet morsels. Service was good.

The view of the effiel tower? If you count the very tiptop that you can maybe see from a few outside tables then I guess yes? But that's like saying I can see a bit of Santa Monica Beach from the 10 freeway so it's an ocean view. Wheoever said its effiel tower view must be blind. The food is overpriced and average. The service slow and barely trying. And barely is being very nice. Server showed up took our order and we didn't see him again. Mind you this place is very busy and there are a lot of people working and running around. The workers spend more time talking to themselves then the actual customers. I'm not sure where the positive reviews come from? I get that the service and expectations are different then say in other countries. HOWEVER, when the staff spend more time talking to themselves rather then the customers that's where I draw the line. There has to be better places in town to eat. This place barely tries and it shows. Pathetic.

Hot Chocolate with whipped cream is incredibly rich and tasty. The rest of the menu is average. Trocadéro location fairly average atmosphere. Very expensive for the offerings.

I tried really really hard but I can't give this place more than 2 stars. Two of us walked in, several waiters walked by us, no greeting. We wandered helplessly, walked towards the back where two people continued to have a lengthy conversation while I awkwardly stood there to get their attention. I finally just grabbed a table and finally got someone's attention who told me I can't sit there, I have to find someone to ask to be seated. I was about to leave when we saw a guy, and asked him if we can sit there. Our server was borderline rude. I ordered a chocolate crepe, raspberry tart and croissant. When I ordered be corrected all of my mispronunciations, making me feel very awkward. We got our food, delivered fast and yes, they were food but I've had better in Paris. When we asked for the check, the waiter asked us if we enjoyed our food. That was the friendliest anyone has been the whole time we had been there.

Had to come here before we left Paris for Rouen, as requested by the kiddos! It's all about everything here- but especially the most chocolatey hot chocolate ever! And boy was it- seriously pouring liquid chocolate from tea pots kind of experience. When we arrived took a while to get a table and when we did get a table it took forever to get service. It's probably most frustrating to arrive at a restaurant and see so many other people get helped before you and this is where I took a star off. We had a nice right at the window spot which I have to agree is nice as it's very trafficky out in the parking area and it was windy. We ended up ordering croissants, a crêpe: traditional lemon and sugar and I had to order one of the little half individually wrapped finger sandwiches 2 Euro/ea (would be cute for a picnic) in the flavor of egg salad which okay- nothing special but was craving protein. I love almond croissants so had to try one- It was a little flat and eggy and wish I just got a classic croissant which seemed like perfection. There were a lot of other things to try on the menu but I it was very hard to decide and I kind of wanted to just try the most classic items to see the baseline of how delicious this bakery was. Once I was inside and saw the glass window of sweets it made me wish I had another time to come back and try these other items and maybe also just lunch or a salad. I would definitely try it again and understand if you have a hot chocolate lover this is the place to take them. It is a bit of a way away and we needed to take a cab here. I would only go again with the kids requesting it but the area had a lot more to offer that I should look into seeing that area more thoroughly which was very nice near a lot of art spaces.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a 10/10.
Best hot chocolate in the world and that I've ever had! It is Tik tok famous for a reason! The atmosphere, service, and food was all perfect! We asked our waiter to choose his favorite pastry to split and it was one of best I've ever had! The eggs were buttery and delicious. I cannot say enough good things about our experience! Truly, a must come in Paris. If you're in Paris during the colder months especially, must stop in for a hot chocolate!
Be the first to ReplySuch a beautiful and fancy place.
We did the brunch option : great selection of French classic pastries and the scrambled eggs were incredibly creamy ! The service was nice and friendly. We felt really welcome. Their location on Place des Vosges is beautiful and gives a nice view of the ideal Paris

I want to give the pastries and dessert 5 stars but the food 3 stars. It's your basic Parisian breakfast place. We got crepe with some honey and eggs with mushrooms and a croissants, which were great! After we finished breakfast, we ordered some pastries to go and they were AMAZING. I would probably only go back for the desserts and coffee. Location is great. Very close to the Eiffel Tower and metro stop. If you're a big breakfast person, I wouldn't recommend it but definitely a place to get sweets!

Very busy at 6 on a Thursday, but the pastries are just amazing. The millefeulle was creamy, flaky, and full of vanilla seeds (yum). Jambon beurre was much more affordable than the rest of the menu at €7.5 and it was a large sandwich, probably 3/4 of a full sized baguette. Great experience, only downfall is the price of the pastries, just crazy expensive.
