Best restaurant ever.
The staff could not be nicer, and the drinks are amazing. The food is also so good. I've gone here 3 weekends in a row just for drinks at the bar, and also for food. Literally do not have a bad word to say about it. The bartenders are awesome!! I love sitting at the window spot and people watching. The food is all very good. 10/10!

I had a reservation last night at 8:45 and we were told it was delayed 25 minutes. My family flew into town from all over the country to help move me into my new apartment around the corner from canto. We decided to go get a drink at another bar while we wait. We come back 45 minutes past our reservation and our table is still not ready. We proceed to wait another 20 minutes and the hostess would not kick the girls at the table we reserved out of their table. This has been an hour over our reservation time at this point. Then the hostess sits 6 girls at the bar that my family would have taken. At this point we were starving. Time moved on and we left because my family became extremely hungry at this point since it was reaching almost 10 pm. I'm just very upset cause we could have gotten reservations at a million other restaurants in the area and my family came from many different places, but you guys were unable to seat us over one hour after our reservation?? Just please, in the future, do not book that many reservations. It was too late for us to get a good reservation anywhere else.

Surprised it's an Italian place in NYC when it's not very Italian at all. No authenticity. Extremely crammed. They'll probably sit you at the bar. The entire place is filled with girls. Feels like an Instagram bar vs a New York Italian restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyGreat restaurant.
Got there early for my reservation and it was no problem. Tried everything from the espresso martinis (tried 3 different martinis/love a good happy hour!) to the apple rose dessert. Service was great, the owner was present and delightful. The ambiance was perfect. I would like to return and dine during the evening to see how it is. Loved the window seat (just wish those seats had backs to them) and above all I loved that the waitstaff was knowledgeable and could answer questions/give recommendations :)

Vibe was chill. Can't wait to go back

We loved our experience at Canto! The mushroom bruschetta was delicious & both the vegetarian pasta dishes we ordered were a hit. Can't wait to return here.

Canto in West Village is a gem where the food rocks and the vibes are just right, thanks to Djamel making everyone feel like family. It's my go-to for a chill drink or a fantastic meal. Whether you're in for the cocktails or the grub, you're in for a treat. Honestly, it feels like hanging at a friend's place - if your friend was a top-notch chef and mixologist! Highly, highly recommend the Arancini Di Risotto,Beef Short Ribs, and Lamb Shank Risotto. Of course the frozen espresso martini is a must try!! Can't wait to go back very soon!

Canto in West Village, NYC, dazzles with its warm ambiance and exceptional service, creating an inviting atmosphere for all who enter. The frozen espresso martini is a standout, expertly mixed and irresistibly smooth, a true highlight for cocktail lovers. Their kale salad is equally impressive, offering a fresh and flavorful option that complements any meal. Together, these elements combine to make Canto an unforgettable dining experience that beckons for repeat visits.

This was a bad experience, the atmosphere and the food were poor. The service was good, especially considering the conditions the waitress has to work in. It is EXTREMELY loud in there and if you are over 25 you are an alien. It is all Gen Z and strangely about 90 % women, and very loud and cramped with good music but loud, adding to the noise level. Ordered linguine with clams, clams bad and only ate the pasta, salad good. Artichokes and olives ok. Clams oregano- not good swimming in greasy spinach, wine not great. Very expensive for what it is. Might as well go to one of the many great Italian restaurants in the west village as this is overall horrible and very pricey for what it is! Or boiled some water and eat at home.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible horrible management.
Reservation for 8:30 for my wife's birthday and they didn't seat us until 9:30!!! They are too big headed and won't last because they forgive olden rule of running a restaurant: the customer is the king. By the way we made the reservation two weeks ago.I wish I could give zero stars

Came here for the frozen espresso martinis and also had some truffle fries and it was so yummy! I didn't like how the cream in the espresso martinis just kinda froze and chunked up at the top but overall the drink was great. It was also easy to make a reservation and the appetizer bread comes with a dip that's delicious!
Be the first to ReplyHorrible experience!!!! Mediocre food at best.
I went for what I thought would be a nice birthday dinner with my husband while I was eight months pregnant boy was I wrong! Oh, long story short the waitress decided to slip her phone number to my husband. Mind you I was very pregnant and did not want to get upset. If you're looking for a wine bar to grab a drink it's a cute place but if I definitely do not recommend coming here with your significant other, because the waitresses do not know how to act. To make matters worse, the manager, or whatever he was, offered me a plate of food on the house!! I'm sorry that does not make anything better . That was some thing that never has happened to me and especially being THAT pregnant I will never even think of stepping foot in that restaurant ever again.

Came with some friends specifically for the Frozen Espresso Martinis. They were good, but the top frozen cream layer threw us off until it was able to melt into the martini, then it was great. I loved the vibe in here, but it's definitely cramped. My friends and I were late to our reservation but called ahead. They were booked for the night so we only got a table for about and hour but they tried to help us beat they could considering we didn't show up on time to our res. Definitely want to try coming back for dinner and I recommend getting a reservation since they do fill up

The food, ambiance and service was absolutely great! Accommodating , they don't rush you out and the staff is super kind.
Be the first to ReplyI'd heard good things about Canto and was eager to try.
Unfortunately it was an incredibly disappointing and frustrating dining experience. They absolutely overbook the restaurant. So you are sitting on top of each other to the point that you have no room to dine comfortably and the wait staff has absolutely no room to walk. We were repeatedly walked into. The first few times it happens you try to be understanding but after the 40th you can no longer enjoy your food. It's also incredibly loud because it's packed so many people in and the music is blasting. This made talking absolutely impossible. We rushed through dinner simply to get out of there and save our sanity. I thought the food was okay, but wasn't good enough to offset the ambiance. Bummed to have spent so much on a dinner to have had such a crap experience. I would not recommend this place and don't plan to come back.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is delicious.
The drinks are divine. Djamel made sure we had everything we needed for an amazing girls night out!
Be the first to ReplyAttractive interior though seating is very tight.
Food was very mediocre. Veal meatballs were flavorless (you need some pork in there!) and the red sauce had a very jarred sauce flavor to it. The pastas were really disappointing. The ravioli were cold with little discernible flavor. The tagliatelle bolognese reminded me of a frozen dinner. Again that red sauce frankly sucked. Manager, please remind staff that appetizer plates should be removed before entrees are served. Poor training. Cocktails were good!
Be the first to ReplyHonestly, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had.
The hostess and manager duo at the front, who awkwardly hover since there is no stand or designated space, are curt and somewhat unprofessional. For example, I made a reservation for three people. When we arrived, there were a few open tables. We asked if we could sit in the table in the corner since we had an elderly person in our party and didn't want to be in the way. (It's an extremely cramped space.) The hostess was about to seat us there, then a man (presumably the manager) said we could not sit there because they had a party of six coming shortly, so they were going to combine that table with the adjacent two-person table. Understandable, I didn't make a fuss, but then twenty minutes later, they sat a party of three at that table. The "party of six" never showed... Later, I was practically assaulted by the man delivering the bread basket. He harrowingly pushed his arm down into my shoulder trying to place the basket on the table. Instead of performing some sort of amateur chiropractic maneuver, he could have placed the bread at the head of the table... Whoever designed the seating layout should have their credentials revoked. It is horribly and awkwardly laid out. Incredibly cramped! The waiters had trouble getting to the nearby tables and constantly pushed and prodded us. This definitely contributed to the bread basket battery incident. (Shoulder is still sore by the way!) To top it all off, the food was mediocre and the ambiance was poor. In fact, they placed their table candles in crumbled paper bags--totally elegant! If you are looking for a great Italian place, keep walking up Perry Street until you reach W 4th...
Be the first to ReplyPlease go! Carefully curated food and cocktail menu.
Look for James (mixologist)...watching him work is pure technical craft at its finest. Prices are friendly, environment is quaint and certainly not pretentious, but the entire thing is an experience!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is truly delicious.
I ordered the carbonara -- it was as good as I've ever had. My friends ordered spaghetti, something else, and something else; besides being momentarily distracted by my jealousy of my friend ordering spaghetti, i was too locked in on my carbonara to think about their dishes. The pancetta was delicious, the sauce was thick and creamy, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. Drinks were great. Service is friendly and fast enough. Ambiance is nice -- it's dark and cozy. We were seated at the bar, which may sound odd but actually wraps around behind the bar (to seat four) and made it even cozier.
Be the first to ReplySolid neighborhood spot, reasonable prices - standard food.
Good luck hearing whats going on at your table -super loud.
Be the first to ReplyDawg, THIS PLACE WAS SO BAD.
'I was so excited to go because I saw it on TikTok, and they said it was a good place to get cocktails and cheap Italian food. I was also excited because the people that came out of the restaurant were raving about the food. So my friends and I go in and we order the bolognese with burrata because the waitress recommended it. We thought the burrata would be $5-8 IT WAS $15 for the fucking block of cold cheese on the pasta. I will admit that was our bad for not asking for the price beforehand. My friend ordered a drink and the drink did not come out for a while, so we had to track down the waitress to check on it. Onto the food. The Bolognese was so mid. The sauce was watery. Bolognese is supposed to be rich not watery. The flavors were not there. It could have used a more spice. Now for the climax of the story.I was not hungry for dinner. I just came with my friends for vibes. I purposely only ate a third of pasta, so I could save the rest for a little later when I was hungry, and the food would taste better. I only ate a third to just get a taste. One person at the table asked for her food to be taken away and me and another person asked our food to be boxed. She came back with one box when she was supposed to come back with 2. THE WAITRESS THREW AWAY MY FUCKING FOOD. The food that I had 2 thirds of left. So if we do some calculations, $22 (the pasta) + $15 (burrata) = 37* 2/3 equals about $25. She threw away a whole ass meal that was meant for another day. All she did was apologize. Like girl, quit being sorry and do something about it. Like it was your fault. Do something about it. The waitress also gave us the wrong fucking bill. Canto looks like a nice vibe, but don't be fooled. it's a shit show. We had to talk to a different waitress about the thrown away pasta, and she offered us a dessert on the house. Which is better than nothing (shoutout to that waitress.) BUT THE TIRAMISU WAS ASS. There was not much of a coffee flavor. PLUS They made us take the tiramisu TO GO. Like bro, y'all fr about to fuck up our food and out check then kick us out? Also there were weird floaty things in our water. There are so many better places in West Village to spend your money on. Best,

This has to be the worst customer service experience I've ever had in my entire life. I've never felt like I was racially discriminated against at a restaurant but this place takes the cake for that. We made reservations for 8pm and the wait was over an hour and we still hadn't been seated. The host was clearly letting other groups of girls in and seated before us and kept telling us it was because they didn't have space. We finally got to a point where we were running up against time for our show reservations and we told the guy if he could waive the cancellation fee since it had been over an hour, he got hostile and brought us a menu outside and asked for us to order to go!! Worst customer service ever don't come here unless you're a 21 year old white girl
