Cafe 2825 Atlantic City Reviews
First of all, the food is flavorful, period.
So satisfying. Anything you order is great. We came 6 years ago and the owners were so kind, we came back this year for our anniversary. My husband is mesmerized by the fresh pasta in the cheese wheel with truffel goodness. This is an appetizer. The cheesecake is so good you forget the toppping is even there. It is silky smooth. The outside patio/greenhouse like area is adorably quaint, intimate, for date night or family time. I could see the pitter patter of gulls feet on the tarp above us. Entertainment for me with a full belly. You have to make reservations 2 weeks in advance by phone. I understand why, the place is awesome all around. It is small but a gem. We love this place.

Excellent tasting food, excellent service with Matthew, the best tiramisu and Cesar salad I've ever had. Seating is tight and quite noisy as there was an obnoxious, loud woman right next to us which was very annoying. Hard to get a reservation but glad we did. Very expensive but worth it.

STOP! Save your money! The hype is the reason we fought for the reservation. Tiny inside. Only 13 tightly packed tables. Tabletop for 4 was 30x30inches. The menus were 14 inches. Leaving 6 inches for the 10 inch plates. The noise level was off the decibel scale. Waiter? If you see him we need water, bread, pepper, cheese and the food we sent back to be reheated returned. I especially enjoyed the servers butts rubbing my back squeezing between tables. Now the prices-other than the simple pasta dishes, unusually high. Chicken Parm was $48. The Veal Chop our friend ordered was $82. It was not to cooked to his requirement and he didn't enjoy it enough to finish it. On a high note, the Table side Caesar salad was excellent. The pasta platters were good, especially at the $31 price. The Martinis were very good and priced well. Overall, we will not return. Don't expect a dinning experience. Expect disappointment and maybe that is the key.
Very average dining experience for this popular local restaurant
We figured that since it was so difficult to get a reservation for our party of eight, that we were in store for a superior dining experience….boy, were we wrong. Where to begin…excellent Italian bread that comes with olive oil ( not extra virgin olive oil) with no seasoning. The table side old world Caesar salad was so poorly made that the manager felt obliged to not charge for three out of four ‘experiences’….which cost $32 each by the way. One highlight was their excellent hot honey crispy fried calamari and shrimp. Main courses were disappointing though. The veal chop parmigiana ( one of their specialties) was a large piece of flavorless veal chop that literally did not have an ounce of seasoning or spices….thin sauce and melted cheese. The waiter never offered fresh grated Parmesan cheese or fresh ground pepper ( now remember where we are). We are still looking for the lobster in the lobster ravioli. One of the specials, the halibut topped with shrimp, again lacked spices and promised hot peppers, leaving it very disappointing. Even dessert was underwhelming. The place was so loud and boisterous that we couldn’t even carry on conversation across the table. Did we come on a bad night, who knows, but it’s probably a place that we won’t return to.

This place is a hard reservation to get but it NEVER disappoints. We love the table side preparations of the burrata, polenta with slow roasted pork gravy, and the cacio e Pepe made in the Locatelli wheel. Plus there are so many more mouth watering options and specials that it's always hard to choose!!

Don't you think that a restaurant as expensive as 2825 could afford to have yelp online menus that were in focus and exposed correctly?

We were so excited to get in here again!! Still did not disappoint- amazing food & experience!! This time we got the zucchini flowers, pasta in the cheese wheel, Halibut Francese, and my bf for Salomon oreganatto, which was a special. We love it here - cannot wait to go back and try more! Delicious!

I'm afraid to leave a review because this spot already is so acclaimed. I've been trying to get a reservation for some time and was finally able to get one so here we were. This restaurant is always listed as the best in AC and a top restaurant in the state. I usually worry that places don't live up to the hype. We hear they truly delivered and everything was better than my expectations. If you eat hear you have to do the tableside experience other wise why are you here??? Every dish was fantastic. The tableside mozzarella was a table favorite The Caesars salad was tableside and great. My personal favorite was the Cavatelli. I can't stop raving about it. Was truly the best I have ever had and this is a must get in my book of you go here. The chicken parm was great and so was the halibut We will return I know this review will add to making it more difficult to get in here but it's well deserved Truly one of my favorite places to eat now

I pride myself in seeking out mom and pop hidden gems with true authentic gourmet Italian dishes, and this establishment is undoubtedly the best both within and outside of AC. Superior quality compared to the rest! From the tableside fresh mozzarella paired with your choice of accompaniments such as melt in your mouth prosciutto and roasted red peppers, to the simple fresh ingredients highlighted in the cacio e pepe + truffle cheese pasta- DIVINE. The array of entrees we indulged in included a Veal Chop Bolognese Fra D'Avolo with the perfect balance of savory and heat, a table side prepared rack of lamb with crispy roasted potatoes, among many others. Greeted by the head chef and very well taken care of by front of house manager, the service was impeccable.
PERFECT 10
Pre-show dinner @ Cafe 2825 , service was incredible , zucchini flowers and clams for apps , tableside ceaser salad and , chicken Toscano & pasta with meatball entrees all perfectly prepared , for a small restaurant that was crowded , we never felt rushed , nice bottle of wine , we only wished we saved room for desert because the blueberry crumb cheesecake looked delicious , definitely our new go to in A/C .
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner here last night.
We had zucchini flowers, stuffed artichoke, stuffed calamari, tripe and tableside mozzerella. I didn't believe the zucchini flowers would be fresh in March but they absolutely were. They were the star of the night. They were so light but the filling was super flavorful in a delicate way. The artichoke was my least favorite because it tasted marinated in lemon or vinegar. I'm sure it's because I am used to the way my family makes them and no other reason. We asked for the calamari to be spicy and they were so good! The tripe was very tender. The mozzarella was made table side from curds. It was a show! We loved everything and our server, Ivan, was terrific. I recommend!!

The fresh mozzarella table side is to die for! The food is so fresh and delicious at Cafe 2825. Main dining room and back dining room are equally nice and great options for your dining preferences.
Reservations were hard to secure.
Watching the servers do table side cooking was fun! The fresh mozzarella was a quicker experience than expected but it was soo delicious!! I got the halibut franchise and really wasn't a fan of the dish to be honest. Next time I'll definitely try out more of a traditional Italian Sunday meal, like a pasta with red sauce. Pricey but the servers provided great hospitality. Love the natural wooden walls everywhere , it felt like we were in an authentic Little Italy joint!
This is a hidden gem.
The food is 10/10, the service is awesome, and the ambiance is perfect.
Stopped here in January.
It was my first time. The food is excellent and the service is too. They get very crowded and it's very difficult to make a reservation since they are always full, but should you be lucky to obtain one, you will be very satisfied. It's a small place, but very cozy.
This is the only hands down 5 star review I've ever given.
This is the best restaurant in New Jersey hands down
Very bad customer service if you can even reach customer
Very bad customer service if you can even reach customer service. Go to Chef Vola. You could even get better service at Olive Garden.
Outstanding food and service.
All the staff are professional and courteous. It's without a doubt the best Itialian food.
All I can say is OUTSTANDING.
The service and food are top notch. Can't wait to go back
Best artichoke since Nonna's!
Love this place. Authentic old-school atmosphere, exquisite food! My only disappointment was the hostess/server. She wasn't friendly and even took away my martini shaker without refilling my glass. Over-worked owner? Disgruntled employee? Hopefully it was just an off night for her. Anyway, make your rez months in advance, even for the off-season. We got there at opening and had to sit at the bar, which was fine. But prepared to spend: artichoke appetizer $25; OSSO BUCO, $60. Not bar food--just sayin.
My Absolute Favorite Restaurant
I’m reluctant to share how awesome this restaurant is, because it is already very hard to get into. Again my meal was outstanding. The table side appetizers are alway a hit. Joe and Zack make you feel like you are family.
Absolutely wonderful
Such an amazing and personal establishment. I can’t tell you the last time that I had the head chef and owner come have a conversation with me in my life. The food was amazing and the hospitality was untouchable. We haven’t even gotten to the desert yet and I can’t stop thinking of the blueberry cheese cake.
Bellissimo
Tucked away off the Atlantic City Boardwalk this little gem will not disappoint. It's lively, noisy and just delivers on all points. The decor takes me to Europe, the tables are arranged so there is just enough space to wheel the table side carts in to place, you can chat to your neighbour, but are also able to have private moments. The food is first class. The best Italian I have ever had. Served with authenticity and a smile. There is a good reason why this is one of the most sought after dining spots in Atlantic City. Be sure to book as you will not get a table as a walk-in.
One of the BEST Dining Experience we have ever had.....
I Rarely do reviews …Words do not describe this place …5 stars from the minute we walked through the door .. Great Service .. Great Food... Great Owners could not of been nicer … This is a man with a true Passion for his guest and his food and it shows through the entire staff. Would give this Restaurant 6 stars if I could …
Truly let down
We were disappointed in Cafe 2825, and sadly so. As a NYC transplant yet someone who spent my childhood at the Shore, I’m always rooting for AC restaurants. Somehow we’ve missed this on our many jaunts to AC, so I made a reservation two weeks ahead so we could see what all the fuss is about. It took forever to get our cocktails, an ok Martini. We were overwhelmed at all the choices and decided on the yummy sounding fried Zuccini with ricotta, lemon. It arrived cold and swimming in “sauce”, with no zucchini to be found. Just mounds of ricotta drowning in watery cold sauce with maybe a thin shell of zucchini that might as well have been lettuce. Not remotely what I’d pictured. The anchovies grilled cheese was better. Trying to get our second martini took 40 plus minutes. We’d come for the fresh truffle pasta prepared table side. If you’re expecting fresh shaved truffles, think again. Heavy on the pepper, it was pretty good but nowhere near what we’ve had elsewhere. Heavy on cheese, pepper and if there were any truffles they were sautéed til dark brown & served on top of dish. Over-cooked so couldn’t be sure. But it was a yummy enough cheese pepper pasta. Nothing particularly special. Confusing indeed. Forget ordering a third martini at this point as we didn’t want to wait an hour. Girasole down the street is fresher, better and a fraction of the cost. I don’t think we’ll be coming back to Cafe 2825, a disappointment all around.
Absolutely spectacular food.
Was visiting friends and easily the best meal of the trip. Don't skip on the table side mozz!
Hard to get reservation at this spot.
Two distinct seating areas: the covered patio ish area was where we ended up. Entrees we're the best we had in a week of fine dining in Atlantic City. Wine list was good and prices ok. Pasta and cheese by your table is a specialty but we opted for fish dishes which were perfect.
If you are in the Atlantic City area you must try Cafe 2825.
If you are not in area, I recommend you book a day to come in and dine there. Make sure to make reservations ahead it seems very popular. Cafe 2825 will not disappoint with its great food, amazing personal service and attention. I am still thinking and savoring the hands made Mozzarella right at the table was impressive and amazingly delicious. All the appetizers, food orders, and wine where amazing.
Great! Food and service! Will be back again for sure!
Great! Food and service! Will be back again for sure! Absolute great experience! The ambiance was also very comforting
I will start with the positives.
This is a true Italian restaurant and the service is amazing! It definitely lives up to the hype. I am very picky when it comes to drinks, and I had one of the best drinks I've ever had. The pineapple upside down cake was delicious! My husband tried a few drinks and liked them all. Even the bread that comes to the table is great. The tableside mozzarella was so good. We loved watching how it's made. We also had the tableside cheese wheel and homeade pasta, and I could eat that every single day it was outstanding! I had the Veal Parmigiano with bone in, and it was very good and the best I've ever had. The portion was huge, and the leftovers were a whole other meal. My husband had a special some maple bourbon bacon pork chop, and wow, it melted in your mouth and was so flavorful. For dessert, I had the Camilla cake, which was a raspberry lemon cake, and it was not only huge but amazing and bursting with flavor. My husband had the strawberry shortcake and said it was good as well. So, moving on to the negatives, it is extremely hard to get a reservation here. I tried for years before we finally got in by a lucky call where someone answered the phone. The owner does come out and talk to you, but for some reason, he just kept staring at me and my husband and kind of made us uncomfortable, like, why are we dining here. I was going to take a star away because it really bothered me, but the food made up for it. It is pretty small in there and has a dark ambiance. As the room fills up, it gets very loud in there, and you can barely hear yourself talk. It is very expensive but the food is totally worth it so i have no problem spending that for high-quality deliciousness. It is definitely a must try in Atlantic City, and I do highly recommend it!

Cafe 2825 is one of our favorite dinner spots in Atlantic City. They have a welcoming atmosphere and amazing service. They always make you feel right at home and go above and beyond to make sure your experience is amazing. It can be difficult to get a reservation, so make sure to call well ahead of your planned visit to try and secure a spot. I have yet to try out their cocktails, but their wine list is expansive and reasonably priced for what you would expect in a restaurant like this. It's hard to go wrong with any of the appetizers, but we love the pan fried meatballs and tableside mozzarella with tomato and warm ricotta. We usually add on the prosciutto as well. Another must try is the tableside pasta - cacio e pepe in the cheese wheel with truffle & mushrooms. Over the summer they had a variation of this dish that was done with a spicy infused oil and I sooooo wish they would make it a regular offering! As far as entrees go, you won't be disappointed by the veal chop bolognese fra d'avolo. It's perfectly cooked & the right level of heat. Another go-to is the rack of lamb which is always cooked to the perfect temperature and comes with herb roasted potatoes. Finish up the meal with something sweet -everything on the dessert menu is delicious, but I recommend the tiramisu. Cafe 2825 is a definite must try for anyone who visits the Atlantic City area!
Great Italian restaurant in AC.
The food is fabulous and the service is top notch. One of my favorite restaurants of all time.
Fabulous meal! We loved it all.

One of the best restaurants in the area.
Old world Italian food, fresh and delicious!
11 out of 10.
Hands down the best meal my wife and I had in AC on our five day visit. Everything is surly made from scratch and bursting with flavor. Even the bread they serve was amazing. Would come back down just to dine here. Make it a priority to get here, make the reservations!!!
5 out of 5

Attitude: 1 Food: 5
Recently dined here…the Pros: the food is stellar…we had two of the table side “experiences” the mozzarella and the cacio pepe….the preparers were both enthusiastic and seemed to enjoy making it for customers…we watched as they did several other tables. Food is expensive here but everything we tried was excellent…the Cons: upon entering the restaurant we were left standing in the doorway and ignored by waiters, the bartender, the bus staff. No one had the courtesy to even say “welcome, someone will be with you” . I felt this was the height of rudeness for a restaurant of this caliber. And we watched as others came in and we’re also ignored. Next a table of guys was loud and obnoxious tossing the “f” bomb around and no one in the restaurant asked them to refrain. The wait staff seemed indifferent (except for the chef/preparers doing table side services). Our waiter barely asked if you liked your food or had any questions…we were celebrating a birthday and the waiter never even took notice or inquired if it was a special occasion. So yes the food was 5 star food, but the attitude/mood of staff is a 1. For what you pay service definitely needs serious improvement. Is it so hard to train every staff member to greet people who walk in the door. If you’re not happy working there go somewhere else. If there was an owner there he/she never visited our table to see if we were enjoying the evening.
DISAPPOINTING
We have been trying to eat for quite sometime and finally got a reservation for the enclosed patio area. First the food was Excellent and unfortunately the service was beyond lacking... The servers hardly paid any attention to our table , had to request a second drink , remove dishes , etc. With pricing high we expected much more. The patio room was ok however there were large groups (probably conventioneer's) and in particular one table of four that were so loud that it totally disrupted our special evening. Upon leaving I mentioned such to the owner and I felt was not genuinely received. They obviously don't need us with the wait list but for the money spent the atmosphere and service didn't match the food!
Everything you hoped for plus More
We were fortunate enough to get a reservation for 5:00pm on a Friday evening. Parking can be valet but at that time we found a spot close by on the street. Inside the restaurant we were greeted by a friendly staff who were so attentive. We were celebrating an anniversary. Homemade bread and olive oil were brought to our table as soon as we ordered. We ordered the homemade mozzarella which is beautifully made at the table with prosciutto and in house roasted red peppers. Caesar salad made at the table top notch! My husband ordered the veal parmesan and I had the homemade potato gnocchi. They were both outstanding. I also ordered when ordering my meal the homemade on site sfogliatelle . The whole experience here was beautiful & so glad that we had a chance to celebrate here. Our adult kids told us to make sure we got there and what a great recommendation.
