Bovio is located in the beautiful land of La Morra where you can find Barolo which is some of the most delicious wine in the world. At Bovio, you can get a 6 generous course set at the price of 55 euros (drinks excluded) during lunch! Each dish was insanely delicious and very classic to the La Morra region and we were genuinely floored by the food, beautiful view, and amazing wine. My favorite dish had to be the veal tartare which was topped with black truffle. Its taste and consistency reminded me very much of my favorite beloved prosciutto. Our menu 5/16/23 is below: 0Entree (All 3 is served) Veal tomato with old style tuna sauce Veal tartare with parmigiano cheese and black truffle Tart of asparagus and cheese fondue 1Primi (choose one) Typical ravioli "del plin" stuffed with meat, vegetable, and beef sauce or Risotto carnaroli with asparagus 2Secondi (choose one) The typical braised veal jowl in Barolo wine sauce or Roast baby goat from Alta Langa and vegetables 3Dessert (choose one) Selection of cheeses from Piemonte and cugnà or Tasting of three typical desserts Instagram: @jessgoeat

This beautiful exceed expectations! They were full for seating but accommodated me since I was party of 1. Their wine list is beyond anything I've seen in a long time. Their food is perfection.

We were at Bovio last night again after ten years (and ten years before that!). It keeps getting better. Had the estate 2004 Barolo and it was fabulous and priced very well. Hoping to return again but don't want to wait another ten years.

Bovio is one of those places that affirms Italians cook with love. The freshness of the ingredients and the flavors that have been perfected over generations. Had tajarin ragu (native Piedmont pasta) at a bunch of highly regarded places and this is the one I remeber and was a cut above. Amazing wine list and the patio and views made this our most memorable meal in Piedmont.

Perched on the hillside above a family owned vineyard with a stunning view of the Langhe Hills, Ristorante Bovio offers a sophisticated first class dining experience without breaking the bank. Meals consist of traditional Piedmontese plates such as Braised beef in Barolo sauce, Onion stuffed with Bra sausage and Taleggio cheese, and Tagliolini with Bra sausage to name a few. In addition, Bovio offers a vast selection of Barolo wine ranging from 40 to 500 USD. Moreover, the sommelier presents you with a wine book menu and to describe it as comprehensive is an understatement. This review is direct to the point and sweet. 5 stars for ambience, 5 stars for service, 5 stars for the wine list, 3 stars for food. I've dined at top restos in Piemonte such as Osteria Dell'arco, Osteria del Vicoletto, and Piazza Duomo to name a few and Bovio's food could not compare. However, Bovio still deserves a solid 4 stars simply because my culinary experience here offering the best view of Piedmont while sipping Barolo wine is priceless . Wine connoisseurs, this is the place to be!! Salute !

First, the GPS directed by Yelps is off by 300 feet, going uphill, the restaurant is on the right .Do NOT make a sharp left turn onto the unpaved gravel road, it will ruin your tires, and the only way out is through the same miserable, dangerous road. Going uphill, continue until you see the restaurant sign. The restaurant address is not in the Mercedes GPS, or it will take you 60km away.Restaurant has excellent view, very rich foods,Great service. Though the menu is reasonably priced, this is not a casual restaurant. We ordered mostly local favorites- truffles were wonderful, the Barolo wine smooth and flavorful. Duck was a bit over cooked, still delicious. Great place for date night. I recommend going as soon as it opens, have a glass of wine, enjoy the view outside before sitting down for dinner.

The only thing in Italy more beautiful than the view from Bovio is this restaurant! Four Of us came to dinner. Four of us were speechless! Even though we were Four people we ordered a lot of food to sample a lot of dishes. We were speechless. By far the best food we had on our trip. Just wonderful. Service spectacular. Lets not get started with the view. Wow!

What a great place! My husband and I walked from La Morra, (we don't recommend), but it was worth the adventure. Best food I've had in Italy, and we travel here once a year. Enjoy! P.S. The wine book was as thick as war and peace. I prefer the content in this book myself

Imagine this:You walk in to an absolutely beautiful room with a fantastic view of the vineyards spread out as far as the eye can see.Your table is at the window and just far enough from the other tables that you have some romantic privacy. They presented me with a wine list I needed help to lift. It listed page after page of local Barolo and Barbaresco - in some cases 20+ vintages of the same estate. The list of French wines was also amazing both for quality and quantity. Then the menu - so many excellent choices I had to plan a strategy for matching the courses with the wine.Servers were gracious, professional, and faultless. They offered to decant the Barolo I chose and what a decanter it was!Hands down the best dinner I had on this 3 week trip. Even with 2 bottles of excellent wine our tab was 161E that's about $182.And - as an added benefit - we were just a few blocks from our hotel - Corte Gondina, in La Morra, which deserves it's own high praise.Visited May 2015
Be the first to ReplyFirst of all, the view is perfect.
In the summer, they open the windows in the main restaurant and there is also a patio.Second, family owned. The wife is very sweet, I guess the husband does the cooking? If we hadn't been at a Michelin stared the eve before, I maybe would have given it 5 stars. I hear of you come during truffle season, you get quite a treat. I thought the food was just okay- the veal carpaccio was lacking flavor and so was the tagatelle with bra sausage sauce. We liked the veal with balsamic entre and the baked onion stuffed with cheese and sausage.

Went here because it was getting late and our chosen restaurant was closed(a common problem in the region in this period). Bovio was packed on a monday night, we just got in as a table of two had not shown up. This is a fantastic traditional restaurant full of high end style and characters. Although the service is old fashioned and the setting seems like something from the past it is quite casual in its actual approach and dress code. The food is great. The wine list is massive. They are also a very well known winery and their wines are respected, fetch good prices and are delicious. Worth a visit.

We dined here in the midst of the annual Alba truffle festival. We were staying locally (down the hill on La Morra) and our pick for the day happened to be closed on Tuesdays. In a panic, we went to our lodging's proprietress to ask for a local replacement for a party of 8 Americans. She promptly suggested Restaurant Bovino up the hill. Upon arriving we had a wonderful meal full of Italian awesomeness including truffles galore. We went during the evening but the daytime view must be truly killer. Highly recommended if you are in Alba.
