Bluefins Sushi & Sake Bar Chatham Reviews from The Last Year
The food is both beautiful and tasty.
Our server was fast and polite. The Korean rib app fell off the bone and they could serve a bowl of the sauce alone. The sushi looked artistic, time was spent making everything look perfect. The problem is while the sushi was flavorful I couldn't really compare it to other sushi locations I've been to. None of it had the simple and elegant flavor I'd associate with great sushi. Everything was just too much flash, you couldn't taste the individual ingredients or appreciate the texture. The volcano roll is served drowned in a spicy mayo sauce that takes over completely and makes the dish too rich. Again, everything was beautiful and the apps were beyond incredible but the sushi was disappointing in that it wasn't elegant. It was more Americanized than you'd want out of sushi.
Food was delicious, service excellent.
...100 % recommend for fish sushi. Ambiance is wonderful.
Great flank steak and oysters in the half shell delicious
Great flank steak and oysters in the half shell delicious pretty noisy young crowd but fun
Booked a dinner reservation on OpenTable for 2 the morning
Booked a dinner reservation on OpenTable for 2 the morning of. I specified that I would need a high chair for the table (We have a toddler). I get a call one hour before the reservation canceling it. I was informed I should have booked it for 3 and they would not accommodate us this evening. Last I checked high chairs are pretty common. I guess not here. Very frustrating considering it is the week of the fourth and now every other restaurant is booked up this evening. Look elsewhere if you have children. Not baby friendly.
Decor was nice; what you'd expect from a somewhat upscale
Decor was nice; what you'd expect from a somewhat upscale sushi place. The staff checked in frequently and were organized and friendly. The food was good but not overly unique. Hamachi carpaccio could have used some more flavor to make it more interesting. Cocktails were excellent and had a lot of options for both sake and martinis. The pad Thai, bao buns, and poke bowls were all surprisingly large portions. We went with group of ten and they managed it perfectly and all the food came out as ordered and quickly.
Ambiance 5 Service 5 Food 3.
25 We were able to get the last reservation of the evening! You definitely need one to get into this Chatham trendy spot. The atmosphere is great, tables are close together but the noise level is loud enough that you won't feel like you're listening to the neighboring table. Customer service was fantastic! Greeter at the door! attentive host table quick service for water Knowledgeable waiter that had excellent timing . And then there is the food... We decided to order the special pork dumplings which were tasty but they came out cold. We also ordered the Cilantro lime shrimp. Excellent quality shrimp but the toast with mustard on it? I didn't understand it! I'm a shrimp lover so wanted to love this dish but I really didn't. Sauce was okay at best. Entrees ordered were the panko crusted haddock and the salmon teriyaki. Both felt like a "Wednesday night meal" as my husband described it. Okay, yes we eat well during the week but both dishes were fine but not life changing. The haddock beurre blanc was flavorless. Fish was forgettable. The vegetables asparagus and carrots were perfectly cooked. Rice was delicious once I put the soy sauce on it! Overall, I enjoyed the evening but the only way I would go back is to try a night here for sushi. Next time! And then I hope to increase my rating.
Succulent sushi & other Asian dishes
This is some of the best sushi/sashimi on the Cape. You know you are in the right place when you see FOUR Asian Sushi Chefs behind the counter, busy at work!!!! I enjoyed the sashimi sampler with an extra order of both eel and sea urchin. All the fish was of the highest quality, smooth & flavorful. The eel was nicely sauced and the uni was completely fresh (firm texture, melt in your mouth flavor with no fishy aftertaste). Other diners enjoyed the tempura and Pad Thai, both of which were super. Nice bar/wine availability.
Where to start.
..bluefins has gone downhill over the years. Each time we go I'm hoping it'll be better but I can say this time I won't be back. Two things: the staff and the tipping culture. The staff is always so rude! They act as if they're above everyone. The managers are sassy and arrogant. I've worked in restaurants growing up so I really understand the industry. Treat people with respect. Now about the tips. The hosts that bring your food out think they deserve 20% for taking your order. If you don't tip at least 20% you're given the most ridiculous looks and comments from them. They question why that's all you're giving and are just so rude! I don't think 20% is deserved for answering the phone and walking 10 feet to bring food out. Can they come back to reality? I ALWAYS tip well to the waitstaff who work hard but take out isn't hard work. Stop expecting people to hand out money for your rude attitude. Food gets worse every time. Can't wait for 3 monkeys to open!!
The food was good but the atmosphere was really dark and it
The food was good but the atmosphere was really dark and it hurt my head. The service was very quick however as we got our food in a speedy fashion. Overall I would recommend going. I ordered the nigiri sake and was pleasantly surprised at the flavor.
Bluefins is a casual, unassuming, and friendly restaurant
Bluefins is a casual, unassuming, and friendly restaurant in Chatham. You might be skeptical that the food would be somewhat middle-of-road, but they're actually excellent. For one, the bar is extremely competent. The cocktails are more creative, and mixed up with way more finesse than you'd expect for a casual joint. Definitely worth having a few. Not all of the food is first-rate (some of the hot dishes are ho-hum), but the sushi and special rolls are terrific. The service is really friendly. All in all, you can count on a great meal and a lovely evening out in Chatham here!
Great service and food !!!! Fast service !!!Amazing food

This place was recommended to me by my sister in law! My husband and I came in on a Saturday night with no reservations and they were able to sit us at the sushi bar right away which we were pretty happy about. The oysters are so huge and good, we had to get a dozen of them. I got the lobster dip bc another reviewer recommended it and it was nothing special. My husband got the burger which he said was pretty good. I would definitely recommend the Surf N Turf roll. It comes with 10 pieces, is cooked and that seared beef (omg yum!) Would definitely come back because we know what's good here now!
Our experience fired on all cylinders.
Our table was ready before our reservation and we received a text message to inform us. Seated promptly, our serve was attentive and knowledgeable. Enjoyed the ginger & lychee martinis, as well as the mai Tai and spicy jalapeno margarita. The sushi rolls and mains were excellent. As were the homemade pork dumpling special and blueberry cheesecake. The only miss was the miso soup which was bland. The food was quick, many attentive staff and quality proteins made our experience enjoyable!
Pretty good fare.
Easy takeout. For takeout, you just pull up out front, and someone comes out with your food and payment options. You don't even have to call when you arrive. The food was all fine. Nothing bad. Nothing amazing. Had the bao buns, which were way bigger than expected. They reheated well. Two cooked sushi rolls. Pad Thai with shrimp, which was a hearty portion. I'd eat here again.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
