Everything about this company is exceptional.
The food, staff and presentation is top notch. This company made hosting a party of 40 people fun and easy. We can't wait to use them again!!

We attended the "Sunday Sauce" 6 course dinner event at the Black Radish which was a rare and elegant dining experience. Every course was better than the next. The service was impeccable and courteous. The back of the house staff worked together with culinary orchestration. Bravo!!!!Lisa B

Wow! Boy do I recommend these folks!I needed a savior and man they delivered. Due to a wicked travel schedule and it being our first birthday, I totally spaced the date for a dinner party with friends.I spoke with Black Radish and they completely saved me. The food was perfection, staff was friendly and extraordinarily knowledgeable and passionate about their food and service.Last minute catered dinner for a dozen people and there clearly do not exist, the number of superlatives to describe how grateful I am.All the guests were delighted and want to use this firm!

Midway into a rough week of pandemic parenting/working/humaning a friend told me about black radish kitchens 'big belly box,' told me there were still a few left for the next day and urged me to try it. The thought of someone dropping off a full box of prepared meals at my door the next day roused me to such a degree that I could not enter my CC number fast enough at check out. My fingers were ablaze on my phone screen. It was a little more $$ than I would usually spend, but I was beyond over extended and not having to prepare multiple meals was worth almost anything in that moment. The website only gives general details about what is in the box but if you join the e-mail list they send out more specifics each week.It arrived with contactless drop off on my porch the next day and I got a txt to let me know it was there. Nice sturdy box, carefully packaged, and soooo much goodness. I was really blown away by the amount and quality of the food. Two fresh salads, an entree, baked treats, fresh bread and dips, a leafy green salad, and a couple large soups that were already frozen. It was all super good and I think I want to treat myself with it once a month or every other month. You won't regret it. Go for it. Treat yourself. Here are a couple pics but I didn't get shots of everything and it was all top notch.

For Valentine's Day this year, because we're stuck at home with this Pandemic, we ordered a special TO GO meal through the Allegheny Wine Mixer that included food prepared by Kate Romane's BRK. The meal kit came with super fun and easy to follow instructions for reheating everything. For $75, we got an antipasto snack box with cured meats and olives/pepperoncini and a small focaccia loaf with gorgonzola spread that was out of this world. I could literally eat a tub of that spread. We opened the Chianti bottle that came with the meal too and it was great with the appetizers. The box also came with these incredible garlic sage smashed beans that ate more like a fabulous over the top bean soup. Wish we had some more of that focaccia loaf to sop that up. The mixed green salad came with a light flavorful lemon dressing and I have to say I was super impressed with how FRESH the lettuce and radicchio was - it was like a bite of summer in the middle of this harsh Pittsburgh Winter we find ourselves in. The main entrée was a tray of sublime ricotta ravioli in pecorino rosemary cream sauce that, after reheating, created some crispy top layer raviolis and simmered, tender, bottom layer raviolis. It was so unbelievably good and filling! But wait, there's more! We also got a huge tub of Italian Sunday Sauce and six large meatballs that we heated in a pan. The sauce came with pieces of pepperoni and huge chunks of whole garlic floating in it. The sauce is a little on the sweeter side but it really paired so well with this savory ravioli. Dessert was this perfectly sized piece of cheesecake with fresh raspberries and blackberries. Absolutely delicious! We just loved this whole meal. It was such a welcome treat and we appreciated the finer details of the preparation and the courses. We will definitely be keeping an eye out for future offerings from BRK.

We ordered a take home dinner bundle that included their meatballs, which are heavenly, as well as some other enticing eats like a saffron ravioli, Caesar salad, pear cake, and a loaf of focaccia. The ravioli was some of the best pasta I've ever had and the bread...SO GOOD. The bundle was priced well and was enough to feed 6 people but my husband and I ended up freezing some extra portions to enjoy later. I highly recommend supporting this local business during this time and enjoying their amazing food.
Be the first to ReplyMany know of Kate Romane's catering genius.
And you may know she consulted on the new Tryp Hotel's Over Eden and Brick House. But I want to highlight her amazing event space in Homewood. It's a hip, post industrial large room that serves for elegant dining. She has a cadre of loyal employees that have worked with her for many years, some go back at least as far as her celebrated E2 restaurant in Highland Park. They are well trained and graciously welcoming. The food is wonderful, and the formula is always locally sourced fresh ingredients. Great salads, stunning entrees, and lots of great accompaniments, such as olives, fresh veggies, and breads. Italian/Mediterranean Cuisine is her go-to style of cooking, but I feel she does everything well. So don't forget about her event space, it's for groups of 25 or more. I forgot to mention her stunning desserts. Last night she served a delicious Pot de Creme that was both gourmet and very satisfying. It doesn't get any better than this.

We recently used Black Radish Kitchen to cater our Welcome Dinner/Rehearsal Party at the Clemente Museum. They were unbelievable. The food was beautiful, locally sourced and so delicious. Everyone is still raving about the ravioli and the kale salad. Their staff is professional, yet friendly and so efficient. The planning was so easy, Sarah took care of everything from beverage service to place settings to the menu. It was the easiest party for 125 people that i've ever hosted.I will definitely be using Black Radish again, and highly recommend them.

Very professional without being stuffy. If you need catering, Kate's food is worth every single penny.

Black Radish catered a work lunch that left me really impressed. I eat a decent amount of catered lunch food back in San Francisco and these offerings left me wishing Black Radish were a little closer to home. They put out a spread of sandwiches - I enjoyed the beet, goat cheese and red pepper rendition but all of them looked good and were bursting with fresh produce. (Now how often can you say that about a platter of catered sandwiches?)I liked that they also brought hot food like macaroni and cheese and green beans to go with the sandwiches. And their popcorn was super savory and an unexpectedly nice touch.I highly recommend catering from Black Radish Kitchen. They brought food for 40+ folks to our office and set it up without a fuss. I also imagine they'd do a great job at events (I think their food would be perfect for a large picnic in the park.)
