Great experience overall
The service was excellent and fun to experience. The food was of high quality and some of it was delicious. Some could be improved. They were knowledgeable about gluten free needs and had several options.
Be the first to ReplyBelle époque style
Classic traditional bistro style with dishes of historic standards with an eye on nuanced creative touches. Wine to induce a discerning taste to explore with the help of the young, enthusiastic wine steward. Tables are close which can lead to conversation between tables, as appropriate. Great evening with a belle epoque atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyHighly priced superior bistro food
Traditional bistro menu but elevated cooking with elegant service. The paté en croute excellent and we shared the turbot (had decided to anyway but quite an upsell from the waiter). It was good (the beurre blanc even better) but I suspect the turbot was farmed - quite small. It is eye-waveringly expensive to eat here and agree with others that doesn't really reach the 1 star Michelin standard.
Be the first to ReplyUpscale traditional bistro, worth the Michelin star.
Upscale traditional bistro. Blood pudding was a flavorful standout. Very pretty ambiance in a historical building. Overall the food was slightly disappointing for a Michelin star restaurant, indistinguishable from a hundred other bistros in Paris. Service was correct and professional but lacked any personality or elan. EDIT: Returned a month later and it was a good improvement! Food was excellent, eggs mimosas had a smooth and vibrant flavor. Ox cheeks ravioli was intense and rich that was a quite delicious. All of our desserts were tasty with the Armagnac Savarin perfect! Service was excellent, the sommelier in particular made a brilliant recommendation and had the elan and personality that was essential for this quality of restaurant! Raised up to a five star review based on this experience.
Be the first to ReplyGood execution
Traditional menu with good execution, service was efficient and ambience was charming. That said, just couldn’t find anything particularly memorable about our dinner. You can’t go wrong here but you won’t hit it out of the park either ;)
Be the first to ReplyGood but not Great
The staff was friendly and attentive. Like some of the other reviews we found the food good, but not exceptional. My daughter couldn’t eat her filet of beef because it was so tough and tasteless. My wife found her sea bass fair but didn’t finish it as we make better at home. The rest of the meal was quite good. Ultimately the best part is their desert and I highly recommend the profiteroles and Millefeuille. Oddly, we also had some small flies join us at dinner like another reviewer mentioned. Very good French Brasserie, but I’m not sure it’s worth a Michelin star having ate at others.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic French cuisine in Paris
I visited Paris first time with my husband, have been recommended from friend who live in Paris that Benoit is one of the very great restaurants to visit. I have lunch menu, includes starter , main and desserts. All dishes were so delicious. Friendly staffs, original French style including restaurant decoration. Recommend to reserve only!
Be the first to ReplyNothing works in this “institution”
Benoit supposed to be an institution. Based on the last year Allard experience, which was superb, we came relaxed and being sure that at least we would have nice lunch. To summarize: nothing was not even close to what would you expect from a no name restaurent, what even from Ducasse brandname. It took 40 minutes to get the first glass of wine. No aperitifs offered. We had to ask them to take our coats. First courses were… well, like they would have been prepared somewhere and brought to our table. Main courses as well. Calf head was ok, but nothing else. Casoulette was a disgrace… To make a caserolle tasteless, that is almost impossible… How could they do a tasteless caserolle, we still do not understand. And so on; not to repeat myself. The wine was excellent, but… the first sommelier came back that they do not have the bottle we ordered… And five minutes later another sommelier came with the bottle that we ordered. ??? Ducasse??? I had a glass of red wine for my main, served in the same glass as for the white wine??? And ,,, and,,, and,,,

So disappointed. Came for mother in laws birthday, which was mentioned in the notes. They never brought it up and did nothing for it. I left a folio that contained $2400 along with visas and vaccination cards. They admitted to finding it the same evening we had lunch, but mysteriously could not find it in the morning. The police showed up to the restaurant and they scrambled today, but still did not provide the wallet. The director blamed us for not discovering it sooner even though it was less than 24 hours. An official report was filed with the commissary this evening and they will be further investigated. A Michelin star means nothing. This ruined my vacation. If nothing else, support honest establishments. This is not one of them.
Be the first to ReplyA truly amazing experience
Booked a table at Benoit following a recommendation from my cousin who’s a professionally trained chef. We weren’t disappointed. A truly memorable lunch with the poudin noir and apple with mash and pig juice being the highlight of my visit to Paris. It’s not cheap but worth every penny!
Be the first to ReplyConsistently brilliant
We try to visit Benoit every time we are in Paris, and are never disappointed. They maintain consistently high standards. The setting is authentically Parisian, without being flashy or gimmicky. The staff are charming and efficient. But above all it is the food that makes this place - French bistro classics exquisitely done. The wines are also excellent, and (for this class of establishment) not overpriced. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best out there.....
I tried Benoit on the recommendation of a friend. It did not disappoint. Incredible food and service and yes, the wine selection is second to none.
Be the first to ReplyWarm & cozy place, with excellent food
Each time we're in Paris we go to Benoit. Out of all Ducasse places this is probably one of the easiest to book, and it pays off
Be the first to ReplyFavorite meal in Paris
We enjoyed dining in this historic restaurant. Close to the Pompidou and a great place for dinner after a visit there. Portions were very large, especially dessert. We enjoyed sampling the traditional French dishes and found this to be our favorite meal in Paris.
Be the first to ReplyTo avoid, should have read the reviews before going
I will start with the good part because it will be very brief. The restaurant itself is very nice inside, old Paris bistro style with lots of character. The service is pretty good, although not exceptional. That's about it for the good part. At the moment Benoit is way below the standard of a 1 Michelin star restaurant. The food is average at best and I have major doubts that the ingredients they use are fresh, which is unacceptable in such an establishment. For the starters we had a paté en croûte which was alright, although perhaps too garlicy, and the chilled lobster, which was clearly not fresh and lacked any particular flavour. For the mains we had the tenderloin which was average, not bad but certainly nothing special, I've had better beef in many other normal Paris bistros. We also had a casoulette, which wasn't great: the meat was quite bland and the chicken tasted a bit funny which was worrying, we couldn't finish it. The dessert was also disappointing. The profiteroles lacked flavour and the savarin was drenched in Armagnac to the point that it reeked of it and it quite simply felt like eating alcohol. The worst part is that the table next to us ordered amongst other things the pollock, which smelled very bad almost as though it was spoiled - I suspect it was kept frozen for a long time because the fish also had a very questionable grayish colour; it was very off-putting and personally I would have sent it back. It's true that given its 1-star rating it's not very expensive but I was not also expecting a cheap experience.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has gone downhill.
I have dined here twice before. I returned because my previous experiences were terrific. It saddens me to write this. My experience last night was of a restaurant that had given up. The dish I ordered, filet with macaroni gratin, which I’ve enjoyed in the past was like something from a 3rd rate restaurant in America. Not a Michelin starred restaurant in Paris. The macaroni gratin was once served in a sizzling cast iron skillet, covered in bubbly cheese. It is now served stacked on the plate with a bad gray cheese sauce. We were so disappointed in the experience that we left before dessert. They need to figure it out, but for now avoid this place.
Be the first to ReplyNot really impressed!
Very cozy and classically decorated restaurant in central Paris. You are allowed to choose the courses yourself (not set course), but we were unfortunately not impressed with the food, which was actually VERY ordinary and totally without surprises or "twists". It possible that the restaurant has existed since 1912, but someone should perhaps tell them that food has developed over the past 110 years. Our John Dory (one of the finest edible fish) was not cooked to perfection: It was a bit on the raw side, and I certainly missed the crispy skin, you are served in all other countries, but having the mind of their own, Frenchmen perhaps prefer this excellent fish with "soft" skin... The staff is extremely kind, welcoming, professional and attentive, e.g. glasses were refilled within seconds. Prices are VERY reasonable for a Michenlin star restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyLovely evening
We were concerned after reading some of the reviews, but decided to go on and were glad that we did. The meal was delicious and the service competent, welcoming and efficient. Not overly American friendly, but then I don't expect that in Paris. Maybe that accounts for the poor service reviews... We greatly enjoyed our evening and would return on our next trip to enjoy another delicious meal.
Be the first to ReplyMichelin Star? Perhaps not for long...
What a disappointing meal at this once esteemed restaurant. Problem one: two of the seven appetizers listed on their menu were not available because it is the "end of the season" according to our waiter. Morels and asparagus. Shouldn't a restaurant of this caliber be aware of the seasons and change their menu before this circumstance occurs? Problem two: our waiter was a complete and total novice who was in over his head. Not at all what you expect for a restaurant with this reputation. Other gripes: the food was good and not great. The sommelier did not really know his stuff. And all of this at a very steep price, which means you do not even come close to getting what you pay for. Clearly this place is riding the reputation of Mr. Ducasse and now just "dialing it in." Michelin needs to take a close look and make a decision.
Be the first to ReplyMats and Anna Samaras visit Benoit in Paris for lunch at Mats Samaras 50th birthday March 13, 2022
On my 50th birthday we ate lunch at this classic French Brasserie. High level of food, service and wines. Triple environment and classic dishes such as Boudin, Tartar, Cassoulet etc. Super nice environment! /Mats Samaras, Stockholm, Sweden
Be the first to ReplyIt does not deserve confidence!
The food was really nice and the restaurant really typical, shame for the service! We order 2 complete menu and 2 half menu with only 1 digestive. When we went to pay the bill was really high. Finally, they wanted us to pay for 4 entire menu and 2 digestives (20€ each) that we did not ordered! It is a shame, you can be wrong about 10€ but 60€?!? Luckily I checked the bill! Be careful at your bill as they do not deserve your confidence
Be the first to ReplyBenoit - questionable Michellin star standard
Arrived for Sunday lunch. 2 starters and 2 mains were had. Only one of the mains (Back of doe Rossini) was to a high standard. It was excellent, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Sadly the rest of the meal was a huge disappointment. Pate en Croute and Confit duck Foie Gras (starters) were well below Michellin star standard. The Scallops main was over-cooked and lacking any real taste. I would have been disappointed with these three dishes in any restaurant let alone a Michellin star one. The amuse bouche was bland. The bread was stale. The dining room is nice. Staff were very good, however they only presented the A La Carte menu (perhaps a Sunday thing) as opposed to the set lunch menu offering 3 courses at €40. We ended up spending €150 instead for 2 starters and 2 mains. Topped up with €70 (2 * 45cl of red and white). All in all, v disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed again.
I have been to Paris in Feb, for the last 22 years. Always make a point to stop at .
Benoit. This is my third time in a row to be disappointed. No Mac and cheese, no petit fillets , salmon or duck. What has happened to the menu !
Like all good relationship's it is time to say good bye.
How did that Michelin Star come about?
Charming place with charming staff. But this is where it ends. The food is average and shows how Ducasse has too much on his plate and can't manage the quality anymore. A quickly heated Pâté which was supposed to be warm with an admittedly lovely jus was the starter. The scallops as a mains were a joke: 4 small scallops, a generous serving of truffles that were dry and without taste and a coulis that was interesting, a bit bitter but not more. The profiteroles were a bit better but the chocolate sauce (and sorry, I have grown up with chocolate) was bad. The ice cream made of 3 vanillas was nice though.
