Benihana Orlando Reviews from The Last Year
Delicious Food, Subpar Cleanliness
The wait time was less than 5 minutes, we walked in at exactly the right moment before it got busy! Our waitress Kendra was very pleasant and immediately began handing out menus. What I noticed instantly as she brought our drinks was the smell of the red cloth napkins, like stale laundry that hasn’t dried completely, it was even more pronounced when I placed the napkin on my lap as the salad and soup arrived. Unacceptable for a restaurant, especially at this price point, if I could smell them, I’m sure the person who wrapped them could as well. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, and was surprised at it’s condition, I could tell that it hadn’t been checked and cleaned in quite some time, I had to check the other stalls for toilet paper. Chef Kenzo did his thing, his personality was infectious and he kept the table laughing. My order of spicy hibachi chicken, which I tried for the first time, was delicious, really all the food was excellent and we had more than enough for seconds, so no complaints here. The complementary picture to capture the memory is a nice touch, especially if you aren’t one who remembers to take pictures. Would I frequent this location again, maybe, I have no complaints about the food or the service, but I might also look for another hibachi restaurant at a lower price point that practices better cleanliness Enjoy Unnerved Traveler
Macho is the best 10/10
Macho is the best. I have had hibachi one million times and Macho was the best server. I have never been served better. Ask for Macho. The steak and chicken were great. Macho went above and beyond for me and my family. I could not of had a better experience.

- I did reply to the feedback website you listed in full detail. No one has reached out to me. Seems like a repeat of my visit to your restaurant, no one cares.
We are very impressed with our experience here! We go to
We are very impressed with our experience here! We go to Benihana a lot both in our state and out-of-state. Our chef (Nathan) was absolutely incredible!!!! He really took the experience up a couple of notches and was HILARIOUS! He was great at both cooking the food and entertaining which is so hard to achieve both at the same time! His jokes were things we have never ever heard of before and they were so clever and made us burst out laughing throughout the whole dinner! The food was delicious and cooked perfectly! We are so glad we decided to come to this location!
Messy dinner
We are very disapponteid with the experience we just had at Benihana. Firstly, I did a reservation and my family could only seat after about 45 minutes from the time scheduled. While we were waiting at the bar, the waiter was rude and forgot part of the order (judging by the uniform, it seems he was a manager or something like that). After we were at the table, it took more than one hour for us to start eating. We had to ask more than five times to have our drinks served. My child slept before he could eat. The only good part about the dinner was the chef Tahn, who was extremely kind and prepared us a delicious food. The check was also wrong (missing items) and before we could notice, the waitresses changed it for a higher price.
They lost me as a customer tonight.
I figured I would lead with that. And its a shame because my waiter Victor was a superstar. Unfortunately that was the only highlight of this meal. The food was a B-/C+. The ambiance was a C. The show the waiters do has been watered down and made boring. The manager wouldnt honor our holiday gift cards. The meal was a 50-60$ meal in a 200$ price tag. There are better options out there.
Had a reservation for 6 and people with gluten allergies
Had a reservation for 6 and people with gluten allergies which they said would be no problem. Needless to say at 730 when we were about to walk out we were finally seated well almost they tried to split our party of 15 among multiple tables and when asked about gluten they said we will try our best. I guess this is me trying my best not to leave a bad review. I hope this company goes out of business as they really could give two shits about reviews or the customers.
It was mania inside.
Took 30 minutes to sit and another 15 minutes before someone spoke to us. Another 20 minutes after drink orders before I went to the nearby Chick-fil-e and got a great meal for the price of one at Benihana lol. The place was full of drunks, the staff yelling and swearing. I've never had a worse experience at a restaurant in my life and I didn't even reach the point of having a water lol.
Smelled wonderful from the parking lot.
.. after we were sat, we were greeted by a hostess who, instead of welcoming us, went through a list of all of the extra fees and up charges that we were going to experience. If we wanted fried rice instead of white steamed rice- that's an extra $7/per person, so for a family of 4, that's $28. Drinks not included. If we wanted the salad and soup that comes with your meal at every other Japanese Steakhouse, you guessed it- it's an extra $7, so for our group of 4, we are now up to almost $75 and we've not even ordered our extremely overpriced meal yet. We love Hibachi, but the food is not that great, the service was less horrible, and the restaurant seemed dirty. Very expensive and food is not worth the price.
Read everything! What's included in your meal and double check your bill!
Food was excellent! The chef did a great job. But make sure you read the menu well. We ordered off the specialties section of the menu that says it comes with 6 courses, including ice cream or sherbet and hot green tea. After eating the main course and the chef left, the waitress came by and announced that she would be right back with everyone's checks. We asked about the ice cream and tea and she said not everyone would be getting it. We all ordered off the same section of the menu. She brought the checks and we had to once again ask about the rest of our meal because she was ready for us to pay. She brought the ice cream but not the tea. When asked she said "Oh! Did you want that? I could bring you some." She wasn't going to bring it unless we asked. It clearly says on the menu that it was included. For over $50 a meal, yes we want everything that it comes with. When we finished our dessert and was ready to pay, the bill was wrong. The waitress charged us for a drink we didn't order and overcharged one of the items on the bill. Excellent food, but make sure you read everything!
If you want hibachi, take your money to Kobe's! Extremely
If you want hibachi, take your money to Kobe's! Extremely poor management. Be prepared to be sat an hour after your actual reservation time. Food is oily, bland and overpriced. I could've gotten a much better meal elsewhere with what I paid for here I came to Benihana because I hadn't had it in years.. yea I won't ever be back.
I celebrated my birthday 3/16 for the second time at this
I celebrated my birthday 3/16 for the second time at this location and what a huge disappointment it was on my special day. Last year I thoroughly enjoyed myself but this year was totally a 360 in the worst way. First off I had reservations scheduled for 8:15pm I arrived 30min early to allow for parking and decided call and check-in while outside driving around in circles waiting for a spot to become available. Then once I finally got inside we were told they were waiting for tables to be available so that was an additional 45 min plus or so... Once we were told where we'd be dining at and provided menus there was huge feeling of abandonment because no one person not a chef, mgr, or server came to attend to our table it was like we were all invisible. 3 of the original guests sitting along with us left after the 1st hour went by and honestly I should have left too but I really enjoyed my meal the last time and wanted to taste it again so I stuck it out even though I was extremely unhappy, irritated and annoyed all at the same time. Long story short we ended up eating way after 10pm, finally voiced our dissatisfaction with the service to several staff members, was told there was a shortage of chefs available and by the time the food arrived we barely had an appetite to eat and ended up boxing everything to go. One staff member who was not assigned to our table came over to apologize for our lack of service as & acknowledged that should not have happened and she felt bad that our table was neglected for so long she offered to help be our server which I appreciated since no else stepped up...very sad. Finally one of the mgrs offered to discount our tab but it was the lack of acknowledgment and empathy for me that was not enough. Myself and another lady at our table were celebrating our birthdays but this is one I will never forget. I don't plan to return anytime soon.
The manager needs to take a class in his customer service
The manager needs to take a class in his customer service skills. I would not recommend this place.
Wait even with a reservation
Starting out, I made a reservation for 7:45 p.m. thinking reservations, since they accepted them, they would honor them. I mean why would a restaurant permit the making of reservations if they wouldn’t honor them, right? So I spoke to one of the managers, and he explained that the open table system permits more bookings than seats even at last minute which reflects badly on the restaurant notwithstanding that Orlando is crazy busy. He was gracious and felt badly that it’s a bad reflection on his restaurant. I reconsidered the angst I was feeling and have some empathy, and I think if you’re booking a reservation for this restaurant, come prepared for at least a 30 minute wait even with a reservation.
Family Celebration
We set up a reservation weeks in advance. This was to celebrate mine and my wife’s 5th anniversary. Upon arrival they were packed, which is expected for Orlando. But it took us 30 minutes to get seated, with a reservation. This worst part was the seating. They overstated our table. I spent the entire meal squashes in a corner with my legs pressed together. Twice I had to push away from the table due to cramps in my legs. The food was good, but a little over priced I thought. We have a real nice hibachi grill in or town, and the prices are a little more acceptable. But our chef was good and he did a great job preparing our food. Now my parents asked for medium rare on their steaks, but they got was more medium. Could we have waited for another table? Possibly. But how long would we have waited? It was now 7 on as we got seated. So that was really our disappointment.
Had a reservation for 845 birthday dinner and was told they
Had a reservation for 845 birthday dinner and was told they said they are backed up over an hour on reservations. From what I have been reading this is very common.
I can't believe that I didn't read the reviews before
I can't believe that I didn't read the reviews before coming here, what a joke this place is. If this is what started the whole Japanese steakhouse thing, then I don't know how it ever took off. To be clear, every one of the people working there are totally awesome and tried their best. However, they are obviously told to advise everyone that it will be only a 45 minute wait even though - we had a reservation at 8:45 and we are still not eating at 11 o'clock. sitting at a table, 5 beers later. This is literally killing me. My kids are asleep on the chairs and the staff keep blaming OpenTable on over booking. This may be true, but please don't take reservations if they matter not at all. Aoki San would be so disgraced. This is the worst restaurant experience I think I have ever endured. DO NOT EAT AT THIS LOCATION EVER!!
Monday evening we made a resveration for a party of 8.
Everything was booked. We arrived at the location we called, once in there. The hostess mentioned: "We are backed up as it is, you're better off going to the other location." As a customer I failed in asking her, her name. (Short female with long black hair. I asked all I got was "she might be new.") I was totally upset. Once again, I called the same location and spoke with Melissa. I did apologize before hand, because I didn't want her to think/assume I was being rude or disrespectful (which I didn't). I explained how upset I was. How is it possible for an employee to blur those unprofessional words? If the employee was new, she should've been professional and said: "Give me a moment and let me verify. At the moment the wait is ____. Let me see if someone can pull up your reservation." Not just dismiss a customer. I am sorry, if a manger sees this or corporate please retrain your employees who do not have interpersonal skills as well as professional customer services skills. Just by that, I can imagine how the night would've been. Just by that I give them a 0.
Absolutely amazing experience.
Chris was our chef and he was so friendly, funny and awesome. Super friendly and amazing food. Everything was cooked very well and he was super attentive.
Doesn’t disappoint
Excellent dinner, nothing disappointing with the food! the meal prep was typical show. We had shrimp and steak. Many at our table had sushi Food tasted terrific! Great service
Been to Benihana all across the country and their other
Been to Benihana all across the country and their other location in Orlando. This was just okay. The food was as expected but the chef was a bit lackluster. We had a great server but overall it was weak. We also got sat 15 minutes after our reservation and we showed up early.
I've heard of Benihana ever since I was a little girl in
I've heard of Benihana ever since I was a little girl in California but never have been. Finally got to try the international drive location and so happy we came at the time we did. Highly recommend coming early if you can like we did at 5:30pm, because by the time we left, there was a long wait to be seated. We loved the service and especially our chef for the night was Joseph, who is really personable and easy to talk with. Our 18 month old daughter really loved the show that he put on. She stood back a little bit after seeing the, flaming onion volcano, but didn't cry. The food was delicious and I highly recommend doing the hibachi chicken or steak. The ambience was clean and again seats fill up quick. We would be glad to come back again.
It's a hibachi restaurant, so if you're looking for quiet
It's a hibachi restaurant, so if you're looking for quiet and calm, this is not for you. The hibachi food was decent, but it certainly was not the best we've had. It wasn't very flavorful--I added ginger dipping sauce to everything. But, it was decent--no complaints. Our chef was pretty quiet for a hibachi chef, so if you're looking for an entertaining chef, this also may not be your best choice. The complaints start here: We made a 7pm reservation. We arrived a few minutes before 7, but were not seated until a little after 8. The chef did not even start cooking until 8:50 pm. The restaurant has a dress code that they post clearly on their site and on a sign next to the hostess stand. When I read the dress code, I made sure we all had on proper shoes and clothes. (Nothing ripped, nothing too revealing, and no flip flops.) I made sure my son changed his shoes and I had to wear sneakers instead of my pretty flip flops. In the past, we've been asked to leave restaurants because of a flip flop rule, so I didn't want to take the chance. Needless to say, management obviously does not enforce the dress code, which is not a big deal but since we were forced to sit for so long, I was hangry and really bothered by this as many people had on ripped clothes, one was wrapped in a ratty blanket and others were just not appropriately dressed. When we were finally brought to our table, I sat the two kids to my left because I'm deaf in my right ear. A couple was seated last. The hostess then asked us to switch the kids with the couple so they "would feel more comfortable." I still do not understand why we had to move--everyone knows you will sit next to strangers at hibachi and they were sitting next to each other. It made no sense and it resulted in me not being able to hear the people in my party. My biggest complaint: one of the kids in our party has an egg allergy. They told us they would cook her meal first. They did not. They served us soup and salad (not part of her meal) and then cooked and served the fried rice which had eggs in it. Now more than two hours passed our reservation time, she has not had anything to eat! I asked the manager if they could just cook something in the kitchen for her, but the chef insisted he cook for her there. He had to go wash his utensils because of the eggs, and then finally (as most were finishing up their rice) she got her first bite of food. Can't recommend--too disorganized and way too long of a wait even with a reservation.
All the rave about this place brought me here and I was not
All the rave about this place brought me here and I was not impressed. After checking in for our reservations it took an hour to get a table. While sitting at the bar Monica made us some drinks which were phenomenal: top shelf Long Island and haiku colada.
Very poor organisation and management of table reservations
Extremely disappointed with the service received, we booked in for a table of 12 at 5.45 pm and didn't get seated until 7pm The staff and management seemed unorganised and not really interested with the delays all of their customers were receiving. A recommendation would be that if the tables are delayed that they call the booking parties to advise them of the delay, that way the entrance wouldn't look like a cattle market with people everywhere getting in the way of the staff. A plus point of the evening was that when we finally got seated the food was excellent with the chef having a very pleasant manner.
We invite our business's partners to this restaurant.
We made reservations at 7:00 PM, they had us and our guests wait over an hour after the reservation time. This restaurant is so poorly managed! Reservations means nothing! They did nothing during the wait even though is their fault! I will never recommend people to go to someone who dont value people's time at all
Do not believe that you can make a reservation here-
Do not believe that you can make a reservation here- arrived for our reservation to be told we would have to wait 40 additional minutes. They straight up admitted admitted they overbook.
Disgusted and Disappointed
I will never ever go to this location or any other Benihana location again. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my reservation and had to wait another 30 minutes. I wasn't happy about this but it wasn't a really big deal. However, I decided to wait at the bar. The drinks are completely over priced and when I questioned 3 drinks for $60 the manager was really rude about the pricing and told me "You should have read the menu before ordering that is why the prices are listed on the menu." Well, there isn't a menu item or price for a shot of Casamigos Tequila or a Martini Lemon Drop with a sugar rim. We had these two items and a Kirin beer. The total was $60. That is outrageous and unheard of. We were then herded off like a head of cattle to sit at the very last table right next to the exit door. The older couples that were seated with us were very displeased and were not treated very friendly. I decided to leave and there were no apologies whatsoever nor consideration. We were told by the manager again if there is an issue "please take it up with corporate." I gave three stars for the food because I have had the food before and it is pretty good. However, I did not eat tonight. Singed, Never Returning Customer
Guests to leave the table
Great cuisine, but poor wait staff. The attendant placed 2x plastic trays on the hot plate, made a mistake with the orders and when we asked to clean the plate before the cook came to prepare the dishes, she asked us to leave; as we had already eaten the starters, we didn't leave and she started ignoring us when we ordered soft drinks,…. The chef cleaned the plate, removing all the plastic stuck to it and impressed us with a great dish.
Unclean, bad prep, poor staff
Went in for an early lunch at 11am on a weekday. It took two hours to complete the lunch. We waited an hour for the cook to arrive to the table, he was not skilled nor was the food prepared properly. Everything was dumped with butter and was flavorless. The restaurant was absolutely disgusting, every window was smudge probably over a month since being cleaned, floor littered with debris, and a foul smell throughout the restaurant which had peeling wall paper and was severely worn. My instinct was to drive off when I noticed how the front door class was smudged with filter from top to bottom but I wanted my kids to try the original. I've never felt more robbed of a $200 meal. The entire staff is rude and act like they are doing you a favor.
Terrible experience - dirty and unsanitary
We recently visited Benihana in Orlando for a family dinner on vacation. We were looking for a fun experience for the kids. Unfortunately this was an awful experience. First - we made a reservation and were told that they were running more than an hour behind on their reservation times. Not ok when coming with young kids. Next- we were given wineglasses that were completely dirty with food stuck on them. When we asked the waitress for clean glasses, she brought back the same ones that had been wiped with a dirty cloth by the bartender. The food and dirt had been smeared on the side of the glass. When we asked her about it, she told us it was the same glasses. Then I got my soup and it had hair in it. Truly disgusting. Really unfortunate experience - we will not go back.
Poor Planning
We made a reservation for 8:30, we were told the restaurant was overbooked and waited over an hour to get into the restaurant. Then we were rushed by the staff through dinner because the restaurant was closing soon. There was no compensation or even an apology from the restaurant.
Unfortunate experience - Totally lacking the experience the restaurant was famed for!
Let me start by saying that we normally visit this establishment at least once per year and we have always been extremely happy with the ability of the staff to provide a great experience. Unfortunately, we did not have the same experience at our December family meal. We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday for a reservation @ 6:30pm. Let me just share the shock and dissatisfaction as we were finally seated at 7:30pm. The restaurant has added a leaf to fit more guests tucked away from the experience. Let me just say, I'm sure there are people that don't want to sit in front of the fire...right???? This is teppanyaki, why else would someone venture to this establishment? I mean, it's not like they provide the highest quality ingredients or that you get your money's worth in food. This establishment was built by providing an experience. How sad that corporate has decided it's more important to get as many people seated for more to the bottom line than focusing on providing a stellar experience to keep patrons coming for more. Needless to say, there were 5 of us and we ended up with the leaf! There was no room between the leaf and a beam to even move a chair. I asked for the manager immediately and they held composure and chose to hide behind corporate. They did offer to seat someone else there and they would work us back into the shuffle for an upcoming table...how kind! We had already waited an hour beyond our reservation. Very frustrating, but I do know this happens sometimes. Well it should be sometimes, but when the managers (yes plural) came they told me it's this way every Saturday. I'm blown away...you mean you purposely overbook on reservations every week!!! WOW! Way to strive for success! Again, they said they cannot tell corporate that they need to accept less reservations. Again, that corporate thing. I'm getting it. It's really not about me or my experience is it! After an exchange with the managers I chose to make it work and have our meal. Unfortunately, I wanted to walk out, but it was my daughter's birthday and I needed to put that above myself or the establishments complete failure to even attempt to provide an experience. All this and even before we started the meal! Now onto the meal, our wait staff worked to get our drinks and orders in and came back pretty timely with drinks. It seemed like we may make some progress. After a bit he returned with enough forks for some of the table and stated that he was waiting on more. Ok no problem, they'll be right out...wrong! By this time drinks were empty and needing attended to. There was no one in sight to assist. After a bit our soups and salads were delivered...still no forks. We asked for refills and it was acknowledged. Those with forks were able to enjoy their salad and at least the soups came equipped with a spoon. As the table was finishing their salads and soups, at least those with forks...the chef made his way to the table and started verifying the meal choices. He then started through his service on the grill. Shortly into that the forks were finally delivered. Mine had tines that were all directions so I attempted to straighten them and the chef asked for the attendant to get a new one. It was promptly delivered. We continued progressing through the chef experience on the grill. About 10 minutes later the drinks were finally refilled and we continued getting through the meal. The chef was not bad at all. He was not dynamic, but he didn't do anything wrong. We now transition to the end of the evening and we ask if our daughter is supposed to be sang to or anything. They attendant never even asked the guests to make it a celebratory evening! Again, I'm getting it. It's really not about me or my experience is it! The attendant that brought our checks went to the back and they did come out and sing to my daughter and gave her a scoop of ice cream! I am appreciative that she did that, but for $300 you would expect it not to be an oversight. I can think of a lot of places to spend my money that provide a better experience and if I'm being honest, I'm willing to spend more if I am treated right and I get the experience I'm paying for. My frustration is getting a lackluster underwhelming experience at an exorbitantly overpriced price point! Needless to say, I don't believe we will be venturing back to this establishment again. They would have to make some serious shifts to earn my desire to put myself through this again. I guess if I have to sum it up in a statement I have to say this was a dismal display of customer service and a deep lack of desire to provide the experience this restaurant became famous for!

Good question. Currently the bidder will have to include the prepaid dinner price plus bid to secure the reservation. AT is currently working on an upcoming release where the prepaid amount and the bid amount are two separate transactions. Happy Bidding!
