A Memorable Evening!
What an extraordinary evening, Belcanto certainly lived up to its reputation! We enjoyed the โlandscape tasting with the premium wine pairingโ - each course was unbelievable - absolutely delicious and stunningly presented in unique ways. Very hard to pick our favorite course! The wine pairings were spot on, perfectly paired and varied vintages. We especially enjoyed the colorful cards that explained each course and included tidbits of Chef Joseโs childhood memories (will definitely frame them to remind ourselves of the fabulous experience)! The staff was beyond attentive, we felt special the entire evening. Thank you for a dining experience that we will never forget!

Excellent service, spectacular food. The Caesar salad is incredible and the desserts are unforgettable, especially the tangerine. A 10. Bravo to everyone in this unforgettable Restaurant
Be the first to ReplyBelcanto, Rua Serpa Pinto 10A, Lisboa 1200-410 Portugal.
Immersing yourself in the elegant and welcoming ambiance of Belcanto restaurant is like embarking on a culinary journey that awakens all the senses. From the moment you walk through the door, you feel the meticulous attention to detail that defines this two-Michelin-starred establishment. We began our culinary experience at Belcanto with the intriguing and delicious starter entitled "The Garden of Golden Eggs", an exquisite combination of egg, crusty bread and mushrooms that captivated us from the first bite. We continued our feast with the Aged Beef Sirloin, a masterpiece that, although accompanied by an onion pie and spinach salad, left something to be desired with its almond and truffle sauce, which did not live up to our expectations. Our second courses, the Hake and Cilantro Samosa and the Hake and Cilantro Codfish Sounds, were an explosion of flavors that left us completely satisfied. Both dishes stood out for their exquisite preparation and presentation, recommended without reservation. To culminate this gastronomic experience, we indulged in the delight of the desserts: the Apple and Rhubarb Tart and the Corn and Rhubarb Cake. Of both, the apple tart stood out for its creamy texture and its combination with natural yogurt, a true delight that left us with an indelible sweet memory. Chef Josรฉ Avillez, master of reinvented Portuguese cuisine, has created a menu that celebrates the richness and diversity of local ingredients with an innovative and contemporary approach. But Belcanto is not just about the food; it's also about the experience itself. Service is impeccable, with knowledgeable staff guiding diners through the menu with grace and professionalism.

Amazing food and service. Great attention to detail. Delicious from start to finish. Felt incredibly spoilt. We had the landscape tasting menu. Particularly liked the chefs snacks , the scarlet shrimp and the squab. Little cards with details of what you are eating on every course is a nice touch. Expensive but worth it.
Be the first to ReplyA special Moment in Lisbon
A very special way to share a moment with cherished friends! The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. The ties to the family feel of the head chef was evident in the servings. The wine was SPECTACULAR! Recommend that you do the Tasting menu (two choices) with the premier wine pairing!!!! We have been to Michelin rated restaurants in other parts of the world and in my opinion this was the best!

The service was fantastic. Everybody was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Loved the food. The starters were the some the best four bites Iโve ever had.
Be the first to ReplyA fun evening of fine dining
Excellent cuisine. Great service. Looked after from the moment we walked into the restaurant. Knowledgeable staff esp sommelier. Some fun dishes and a few surprises. Ate a la carte. Wine pairing pretty generous and interesting. A great evening although you will spend โฌ500 for a meal for two and one wine flight.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the stars
Dessert was the best part. Food was okay, wine pairings were good, really docking the score due to service which was unacceptable for a 2-star restaurant. On multiple occasions our water glass was left empty, multiple empty wine glasses were left piling up on the table and crumbs were not cleared. Nice evening but I canโt imagine deserving even 1, much less 2, Michelin stars.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional Food, Uneven Service, Ungenerous
No doubt that the food is top notch. I chose the a la carte prix fixe. The flavpors were exceptional and inventive and dishes were brilliantly executed and served. Service was very uneven. After being seated in a cold and too large table for six where only three were occupying, it was a full 7 or 8 minutes before water, even longer for menus. We made the mistake of ordering the basic wine pairing. Mistake because you get no wine until the starter arrives, which means your amuse bouches and breads have no wine accompaniment. Once wine does arrive the pours are absurdly parsimonious. Honestly they charge 75Euros for the pairand you get three wines with pours of about an inch each. In short, you have paid 75โฌ for a glass of wine by the time you depart. We could have ordered a very good bottle each for each course and been much happier. While the wines offered for the pairings were very good snd very well matched, the pours were atypical for Portugal and extremely disappointing. My main was the truly delectable beed. But i could only eat one of two medallions. I was genuinely upset that i was told the remainder could not be wrapped or taken home. I sas told the restaurant was not licensed to take away. When you are paying 200โฌ for a meal it is entirely improper to be unable to wrap remains. The restaurant owes its clients that service. Pay for that license. For some of us this is a rare experience and if we don't wish to leave uncomfortably stuffed it is only just to offer the take home option. I have never experienced this at any Michelin starred restaurant worldwide. It is plainly wrong. I want to repeat that the food itself was outstanding. The sommelier was knowledgeable, kind and charming. But the service was slow and uneven, and value is lacking on wine pairings. Inability to take away evidences disinterest in genuine service.
Be the first to ReplyChefs table service was unacceptable
Sat at the chefs table. Food was very good but the chefs table service was young and had an arrogant attitude and actually told me not to taste my food while she was long winded and to say please for more wine! Very dissatisfied with tut chefs table service.

We chose Belcanto to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday while visiting Lisbon. I am so happy we did, as this was a dinner to remember and one of my favorite Michelin star restaurants ever. The tasting menu and wine pairing were simply delicious, whimsical, and perfect in every way. The service was impeccable and we really enjoyed learning all about the dishes and wines. We were made to feel special and the energy and vibe were very warm and welcoming. Definitely would come back the next time we visit Lisbon!

If I had 10 thumbs, Belcanto would get 10 thumbs up! All I can say is visit Belcanto and if you can, reserve the chef's table - you will be glad you did! It was one of my best food experiences. Each dish was better than the last. The staff was friendly, warm, and a joy to watch in action - thank you! And a special thank you to Nelson, our Belcanto host for the evening. He accommodated our requests for pictures, and even our requests to repeat his description so we could capture it on video (smile). Thank you for elevating our birthday celebration!

well , that is single handed the most pretentious , ridiculously hyped , overpriced, and
desagreeable reataurant we where at in many years. of all the michelin places we have been , this one is a puzzle... the service is proposterous , as they ask you not to leave the table at any moment , for not disrupting the flow of the service.. really???? however , they think nothing of interrupting your conversation without the slightest excuse, to give you the most tiresome explanation ,of what you are about to eat. and that is , for instance , a piece of chicken skinfried to death, or the blandest , most derivative food of the" Dria "school, executed with all the enthusiasm of a hospital chef.AND they called themselves portuguese cusine revisited, ha! mybe that is one visit thatcould do withot revisiting. we love Portugal , Lisboa, the food , the wine , the people. LOVE! but this place was like being elswhere.
Amazing Experience
This is the best food, actually best experience we have ever had in our 40 years life. The food, service, their way of behaviour, professionality, and sincerity were all perfect.Prices are high but they deserve it.They bring so many food with unique techniques and they serve each of them with their own story.
Be the first to ReplyThe Best Michelin experience in Lisbon
There are only two 2-Michelin star restaurants in Lisbon: Alma and Belcanto. Having eaten at the former followed by the latter on consecutive nights, I can safely say, based on my experiences, that Alma disappointed but Belcanto truly dazzled. Having eaten at Belcanto once before several years ago, I was looking forward to dining there again seeing that the first time was truly exquisite. This time, it was just as pleasant and pleasurable. The new location and decor is tasteful and elegant. The service was attentive without being intrusive; the wait staff had a light sense of humour and engaged in friendly banter which made for a convivial soirรฉe. The food was truly delicious without veering towards unnecessary styling or visual histrionics. The ingredients tasted very fresh, the presentation was lovely, the pacing and portions were just right, and the flavours were very refreshing. (For the record, my husband and I had the a la carte menu.) A special shout-out to the sommelier who served us that night (3 Feb) - Jose, I believe his name was; he was very accommodating and recommended us a lovely bottle of Orange wine which paired well with our plates. Iโd highly recommend Belcanto to anyone who wants a good gastro experience while in Lisbon. M and I will be back next time we head here to Lisbon.
Be the first to ReplyExquisite food but the service put a damper
Food was fantastic as expected, different flavor experiences. Dessert was beautiful but a tad bit boring. We went for the Evolution Menu, What disappointed us and somewhat ruined the evening was that in the middle of service our main server just vanished, no goodbye nothing. When we asked for him, the other server responded his shift was over and he went home - okay, 2 Michelin starts was it? It was just so odd. I have been to plenty a Michelin star and posh restaurants, but this was a first. Really ruined our evening.
