Wonderful
Wonderful. If you are in for spectacular food but not the stuffy “white tableclot” vibe that usually accompanies a Michelin star, definitely recommend Bastible. Staff are friendly, no pretentious air just knowledge and attention to detail. We booked the booth, it’s very atmospheric and intimate. Also one of our party had the vegetarian menu. Highly recommend. The dishes are perfect for spring, zesty and fresh. Wonderful experience all round. I’m glad it’s not my local. I’d be bankrupt 😁 and it might just be worth it!

Food is full of flavours. Small Plates but plenty of elements. Pairing wines were good. Service was attentive and informative. Excellent experience
Be the first to ReplyExcellent choice for a special day.
I booked this restaurant to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The experience was amazing, delicious food and the wine pairings were amazing. We will definitely be back and highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyNice food
We went for a belated birthday dinner and the food was nice. The tasting menu had a wide variety of dishes and they were quite tasty and the balance of flavours was lovely. The staff were friendly and attentive. Our drinks arrived quickly. We are not wine people and we have found it’s a common theme in Dublin, that when you order and finish one drink that they do not take another drinks order unless you flag them down. While I don’t mind doing this, it is nice when the waiters ask if you’d like another drink. The only complaint was the dessert-neither of us liked the dessert on the tasting menu but everything else was nice. The waiters explained each course and were very knowledgeable.
Be the first to ReplyLovely food, service not Michelin standard.
Fabulous food, disappointing end as we were rushed out despite not finishing our meal and evidently no booking waiting. Great food, very below average service and atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyStunning flavours and warm service
We booked Bastible after some research as a special meal while in Dublin for the weekend for a birthday and we were blown away! The standard of food and wine was impeccable while the service was warm and attentive without being fussy or snooty. The sommelier was so knowledgeable about each individual wine pairing, and they complemented the dishes beautifully. Thank you for giving us the list, the Pet Nat is on my Christmas list! The seaweed custard with mussel and caviar was flawless, it literally made our mouths water for more, as did the beef tatare. The cultured butter was also amazing. Highly recommend a visit to Bastible!

We aren't the fancy type but a friend recommended Bastible while in Dublin and she said it was her absolute favorite. The restaurant only had about 9 tables (mostly for two's) and the ambiance was not overly fancy but inviting and authentic and it has an open style kitchen. The menu is preset which we didn't mind at all and we did review it ahead of time before placing the reservation. Everything was carefully crafted and the whole experience was a perfect way to start a trip. The food is exactly what you would expect from a high end restaurant. Everything was dynamic and well thought out. 5 stars!!

Amazing food and service. My husband and I celebrated my birthday here and while I was concerned at counter seating it’s actually great. Food was outstanding and best quality and best value for money I have had in a long time. Shane, whom I think is the manager has a big presence here and everything runs like clockwork. We were there for two hours for the tasting menu. Loved it.
Be the first to ReplyNot for us, but not its fault.
This is a very nice restaurant with a tasting menu. First mistake, we are a la carte people and it's a testing menu. As for the food, sorry to say there just wasn't enough and it was too long between the seven or so courses. Against usual practice, we went with wine recommendations, second big mistake. We are red wine people full stop. I know, I know the wine is supposed to compliment the food but such subtllety is lost on me. Would we go again, no. But if testing menu is your thing, off you go.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid if you love great service, food quality and authentic Michelin qualities
We arrived 13 minutes early and was rushed out to the nearest pub to kill time and was then rushed back with a phone call when we were 5 minutes later than reservation time. The room is minimalistic and leaning towards wannabe Scandinavian which is pleasant but it’s lacking personality and atmosphere. Our waiter lacked enthusiasm and service skills, water wasn’t refilled, wine wasn’t refilled, you were served overlapping dishes to catch up without the waste dishes being removed. And once you caught up to the rest of the tables you waited an exaggerated amount of time for the incredibly small dishes that came out. You will be left hungry, the “courses” not only clashed in flavours and textures but are canapé sizes definitely not course sizes. The wine however was delightful. If you like restaurants such as Patrick Guilbaud/Chapter One etc avoid Bastible as you will only be left disappointed. Unsure on how they received a Michelin Star as it’s not deserved.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food but would prefer a la carte
No doubt that the food here is excellent. There is no choice and instead you try everything on the menu. While this is a nice experience, we would have preferred a choice in the dishes. I really enjoyed the small appetizers at the beginning but the crumpet which came with the trout was a bit of unnecessary filler IMO. The desserts were a little too sweet and too many for our liking (coming from a dessert person!). We went for the wine pairing but wouldn't opt for this again. Similar to another reviewer here, I'd love to go back for an a la carte menu in future.
Be the first to ReplyWOW - That was a Bit Special !
Thoroughly enjoyed our Tasting Menu at Bastible !! Inventive and clever, subtle and sophisticated. Some very clever chefs at work here. Some of the descriptions may sound a little alarming to a conservative eater, but just trust the chefs and eat everything you are offered ! This is a very special restaurant, offering very high quality food. Service was attentive and friendly, explaining each dish as it arrived at the table. Close to home, and with a very comfortable pub next door for a drink beforehand - we will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyNice family evening
We had really nice evening with lovely food. Some of the positions on the menu are really nice, a specially fish, it was delishes, and homemade bread was one of the best I ate! Only the beginning of the menu is bit like... Form other menu, doesn't really suit to the rest of what we had, just my opinion... But other than that, was a great night, staff very nice.
Be the first to ReplyA very special meal
This was a special occasion, made very special by the food and service. We opted for the wines accompanying the tasting menu. Every morsel was a delicious treat. The wine pairings were fantastic. There is so much talent in this restaurant and we loved it! It's such a comfortable room - the window seat was perfect!
Be the first to ReplyOur favourite restaurant during our visit to Dublin
We absolutely loved our meal at Bastible! Every single course was delicious. Both the tasting menu and wine pairing is an incredibly reasonable price. Service is spectacular, with all dishes and wine pairings explained to you. If we are every back in Dublin we will certainly return.
Be the first to Replyvery good food but simple
Food was good, but we didn't got a WOW from other Michelin places we have been. service was friendly but mixed some explanation of dishes.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding.
What an incredible experience. We dined in Bastible on Friday, everything from food, wines and service was amazing. We were greeted at the door by a very friendly gentleman, even though we were a little early for our booking they still managed to get us seated and out of the cold. One of the waitresses who looked after us that night got us started with water and explained the menu to us before leaving us to settle in. We started with two cocktails and I decided to do the wine pairing my wife isn't great with wine so she just had another cocktail. Each course got better throughout the night, and the wines were super interesting and paired quite well. The restaurant was packed as would be expected on a Friday night and my only critique was it was a little noisy at parts due to being sat next to quite a large party (when we book again I might ask for a table further away). The chefs dropped some of our courses and it just elevated the experience even more! We will definitely be back as we both felt there is nowhere else in Dublin like this. From thoughtful service, delicious and beautifully presented food that was such fantastic value for money I can't stop raving about this place!

Amazing food and a super interesting wine pairing. The staff were warm and attentive and worked effortlessly around my wife's allergies. We will definitely be back to try their next menu.
Be the first to ReplyGood food pity about reception
Arrived 10-15 minutes early and were summarily dismissed to the pub across the road even though most tables were empty! Not a good first impression. Clearly a talented chef at work. Would suggest reducing the set menu to 6/7 courses and perhaps offering a choice for the main course. Some of the combinations were a bit strange; deep fried chicken served alongside main chicken dish; donuts served with strawberry desert. Omitting both sides would lighten the menu to good effect.
Be the first to Replygood food
we had a quite good meal at Bastille. service was very friendly and professional, food was good but seems to be a little overrated because it has the Michelin. It is expensive for our taste.
Be the first to ReplySUPERB
An absolutely superb meal! Eight courses of pure deliciousness. Since it was a coursed mill - it doesn’t matter the review for each course because you’ll be served it all and love every bite. The “fried” chicken - even for a group of Southerners- - was outstanding. The citrus granita over oysters was a taste I’d never have put together - but ohohoh! And the caramel slice at the end for dessert was as delicious as anything I’ve tasted ever. We did it without the wine course which made it about 75 euros - a fantastic price that truly I’d have expected to pay twice that for - a MUST DO for a Dublin trip.
Be the first to ReplyGood but overrated
The service is very good. The place is nice and coosy. The food was just ok. One of the plates was bread, it was delicious but we were expecting more from a Michelin star.
Be the first to ReplyIndifferent service
Food was lovely but the guy who served us & took our bill was seriously lacking in basic social & service skills. I would chalk it down to a bad day but I mentioned the experience to friends & they had a similar impression . For the prices I would expect better service & to be honest I’m not in a hurry to go back.
Be the first to ReplyInventive cooking in a relaxed atmosphere
Fixed menu 8 courses. Each course is small in size and some are served alongside each other so don't be put off by the idea of 8 courses (if you were). Food is inventive. Several "I have not had anything quite like that before," experiences. Quiet atmosphere. Friendly service, not showy, but waiting staff interested in the food they are serving. Recommend without hesitation.

This is my second time being in this restaurant the first was a few years ago. The restaurant has being in the news lately It won an award. The set menu 8 plate menu was fine and the food was different but I found the restaurant was very avarage.
