Cool combo of flavors
I had the veggie bowl -- coconut rice, hard boiled egg, slaw, grilled peppers, and salsa. So yummy. Guacamole, homemade salsa, and chips were top notch. Gluten free options were plentiful. Designed to be very "communal" with long tables, but has smaller tables for couples and smaller groups. I can imagine it gets hopping at night, but it was a relaxed atmosphere at lunch.
Be the first to ReplyA Tale of Two Bars
On two nights I went to two bars. First was Bar Takito where I ate mediocre Mexican food and had a $24 watered down margarita while sitting on an uncomfortable metal stool. It was so loud that conversation was nearly impossible. The next night I went to the very quiet bar of a 5-star hotel, sat in an amazingly comfortable upholstered chair, had great free bar snacks and drank a really big and powerful Manhattan that cost $17. Would I ever go back to Bar Takito? Only if I was kidnapped. I will take the 5-star hotel bar over Bar Takito any time.
Be the first to ReplyGreat tacos , fun vibe
Fun spot to grab great tacos and a few margaritas. Big open space with lots of seating, great music, and fun cocktails. Good selection of tequilas and Mescal as well.

Taco Tuesday is a must. The lobster tacos were yummy. I also ordered the coconut shrimp tacos. I should’ve requested light sauce but it was good. The spicy salad with shrimp is a MUST!!! The shrimp were jumbo and maybe a total of 6. Great to share with someone.

Be the first to ReplyFERNANDO!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, well to start I am a regular here - I come in here with my husband and one of my best friends around 2 times a week and we all love it. The setting is great and the food is good, although I am still sad they got rid of the polenta - some of the best I've ever had. BRING IT BACK PLEASE! Now on to my most recent review, food was good as usual - BUT THE DRINKS WERE AMAZING!!! I order the same margarita every time - the Cucumber Margarita, spicy (it's a must). This time it was actually SPICY! My friend and I were obsessed and we found out that Fernando was in charge of making the mixes that evening - he should be making the mixes every single night and if he were to I would be there every day, they were that AMAZING - NO JOKE!! He was the nicest guy too when I asked to meet him - the BEST! The bar manager, not friendly and that needs to change. I went to compliment him on the mixes tonight and let him know that Fernando was great and he was "too busy" for us. Legit could not take the time to speak with us for 2 seconds. It really put a bad taste in my mouth - since customer service is a HUGE part of this industry. Omaro - the bartender was great too. Overall, great place as always and will be back, but Marcus needs to adjust his attitude towards customer's and his employees - especially in front of customers. I was appalled at how he spoke to some of his employees in my presence. Looking forward to my visit tonight!
Be the first to ReplyBirthday Dinner
We had made reservations and were promptly seated. Staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The atmosphere was casual, lively and energetic for a Friday evening. I liked the varied seating options from traditional to bar stool style seating. We started with the shrimp cocktail as our appetizer and it was beautifully presented but most important were the fresh veggies along with the sauce that the baby shrimp were tossed into, a nice bite of heat. I had the fall salad and requested grill chicken as an additional item: loved the greens, almond slivers, craisins, etc. and avocado slices which were tossed with the balsamic vinaigrette. The portion size was generous and filling as my entree. My friend ordered a taco trio and enjoyed it as well; FYI these were not street style tacos but more of a restaurant style so they were a little smaller. She asked for additional hot sauce and loved its extra heat. For my birthday celebration a cute flan was presented and was yummy. Pricing: appropriate for this type of establishment. I would give the restaurant a “good” 3.5 rating but it’s not an option with this site. Would I return: yes, probably for lunch vs dinner.
Be the first to ReplyGreat margaritas ($8 during happy hour)
We didn't eat here, but we did enjoy some happy hour margaritas! My friend and I were exploring Chicago this past Friday afternoon. And we wanted to sit and enjoy a drink before moving on to our next touristy activity (of which there were many). We stopped in at Bar Takito, grabbed two bar stools, and enjoyed two margaritas. While $8 per margarita didn't blow me away as a great happy hour price, the service was good and the margarita on the rocks was great (and I'm a little particular when it comes to margaritas because I'm from Texas and have had more than my fair share). While I can't speak for the food, I did enjoy my margarita a lot, and that earns a place four stars in my book.
