Bandon Dunes = The Best The Best!
I spent 8 Days at Bandon Dunes in June and all I can say is these are the 5 best courses I have ever played and that says alot. I have been lucky enough to play places like Whistling Straits, Erin Hills, Sand Valley, Arcadia Bluffs etc and they are not even close to the level of the Bandon Dunes courses. Bandon Dunes is so good for so many reasons but lets first start with the golf courses. Each one is so different and natural elements of the land, ocean etc make them unlike anything I have ever played. The firm and fast conditions make them play like something from "over the pond". The caddies also add to the expereince and I would def take one if ya can The customer service at Bandon Dunes is an A+++++ and they understand how to treat guests they you would expect at a resort like this. Food and lodging are fantastic and the great thing about Bandon is once you are there ya never have to leave. You also dont need any cash as you can get it from the front desk of any proshop and they will add it to your tab.

We hit unbelievable weather but even still, this place is unbelievable. Stayed in Lilly Pond. Beds were very comfortable and rooms spacious. Shuttles are very quick and drivers are great. I love how they don’t have their hands in your pockets. Coffee is free, breakfast sandwiches are huge and only $8. Ghost Tree restaurant is legit. Would have eaten here twice if I would have known sooner. The golf is 5 star. Each course is different and the par 3 preserve is so nice and unique. Our group of 48 had a private tournament on the punch bowl and I would recommend. We hit great weather for 4 of the 5 days It’s as close to Scotland that I’ve played over here and overall much better than Pebble experience. Can’t wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyBandon Dunes Golf - greens conditions were deplorable
2 years in the making due to reservation backlogs. Finally, get to this mythical place everyone talks about. The vistas are outstanding. The courses are pretty good, but only Pac Dunes and Bandon Trails were complete courses (and in playable condition). Old Mac and Sheep Ranch were unplayable - the greens were a complete disgrace. Bandon Dunes greens were just acceptable. The resort never said anything about poor course conditions - no discounts, nothing... Caddies are really costly and all but one were really poor, not knowledgeable about how to hit shots into the greens, and reading greens - forget it. Service staff were great, food was pretty good. Shuttle service is great. Long, very tiring trip to get there from the east coast.

This was my 4th time to Bandon Dunes and it just gets better every time. I have no idea how anyone is rating the complex anything under 4 stars. The golf courses are all amazing. Yes, it's a difficult place to get to but that's also what makes it special. If you want great food, then go to dinner somewhere nice. Bandon is all about the location, views and camaraderie that you get from a kick ass golf trip. All of the food I've ever had there is well above average. The Old Mac breakfast sandwich is a home run and there is nothing wrong with the sauna and hot tub before or after golf. Better than Pebble Beach and Pinehurst any day of the week.

I am an avid golfer with lots of trips under my belt. For years have heard how great Bandon Dunes is. I finally got there last week and....extremely disappointed. If you live in pretty much any other time zone, the travel to get to Bandon is extreme. Then when you get there, decent chance your room won’t be ready. The piece of property is beautiful. The golf courses? Meh. Just because golf was played on hard turf without much grass in the 1500s doesn’t mean that’s fun. And the wind is just exhausting. Restaurants are only ok. Our group of 8 had two caddies that were just not good. One didn’t speak English and the other had no understanding of golf etiquette. On a positive note my caddie Cody was great. I won’t return. I don’t get all the hype. Too much money and travel for what it is.
Be the first to ReplyYour next stop after St. Andrews
Your next stop after St. Andrews should be the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. With six courses to choose, your only decision should be in what order to play them. The Bandon Trails is most like a conventional golf course although it only has one water hazard, the tall grass rough and plenty of bunkers is enough of a challenge. The first course established is Bandon Dunes, plenty of ocean exposure and the wind can blow. Pacific Dunes is always rated next to Pebble Beach in the best courses in the US and it won’t disappoint. The newest course is The Sheep Ranch. It is by far the most playable and the easiest to walk. I didn’t mention that unless you have 5 doctor’s excuses you will be walking, an average of 15,500 steps per course. There are great experienced caddies available, who primarily double bag it. The expected caddy fee is $100 per bag and a tip of $50 per bag, well worth the expense. The other side of the coin is the the food service which is good, but then you didn’t come all this way to eat.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing Stay Mediocre Golf Course
First problem encountered was where to check-in. Our room was not at the lodge or Inn. Eventually we went to the Inn and were able to check-in to the Lily Pond Cottages. The room was on the bottom floor with no elevator and only stairs down. While we are in good shape carrying a bag down a flight of stairs was no easy feat. The setting was picturesque and the room was large with a fireplace and a table with two chairs on the outside patio. The sliding screen to the patio was torn, so we were unable to leave glass slider open. The room had two beds both saging in the middle and extremely uncomfortable. The rug at the threshold was frayed and a trip hazard. The golf practice range was not in optimal condition. The grass for driving range was very poor and the putting greens had just been punched. Bandon Dunes condtion was a real disappointment and it's clear why they have not hosted a PGA event. Pacific Dunes was in much better shape and eminently more playable. Both courses had very poor signage, often leaving us searching for directions to next tee. The paths were atrocious and very difficult with a hand cart. Vistas unbelievable being right on the ocean. The food was very good and service was excellent. The bus service to go between lodging, restaurants and golf courses was excellent as well.
Be the first to ReplyBest Golf Resort in the U.S.
Wow is the easiest way to explain it all. The rooms were excellent but honestly you don't spend much time in the rooms. Played all 5 courses plus the par three. Pacific Dunes was my favorite but they are all tremendous. Played 36 two days and that was about right for me. Food was excellent at all locations but I enjoyed the Pub the best. Definitely worth getting a caddie, made the walk even that much more enjoyable. I would say this is for golfers, not people who golf or other tourists. I have been to many resorts and played golf all over the world and this trip is on top of my list! Going back in 2023 and cannot wait!
Be the first to ReplyDecline in customer service and communication with guests.
Nobody can control the weather. We certainly didn't expect snow in Bandon, but its not in anyone's control. What IS absolutely within the control of the resort is communication: with the guests, between lodging and golf courses, and especially about changes. We arrived to The Inn to learn our room would not be ready until 5:15PM, over an hour after the scheduled check-in. Front desk agent had no knowledge that all tee times before 10AM for the last few days were virtually cancelled and re-scheduled. The entire golf/ tee time scheduling was uprooted and the desk agent failed to tell us! We found out after overhearing a conversation in the hallway at 7PM after all the pro shops were closed. ZERO communication with guests about the circumstances, and very little inter-department communication. For the reputation and price of this resort, its unacceptable and disappointing.
Be the first to Reply5+ star hold with 2 star accommodations
The room was so wet and moldy that our clothes smelled in the morning. The sheets were wet and clammy and the in room coffee is better at a basic Hilton. For the luxury price, the room feels like a 2 star experience. There was only one place yo sit by the fireplace and no outside balcony, let alone deck.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful Stay!
Took a trip to Bandon Dunes with my husband and son. We stayed at the Round Lake facility. It is a beautiful new building. The bathroom is set up really nicely with a separate shower/changing room, and separate toilet room so the double sinks in the bathroom can be used at the same time without privacy being compromised. There is a shoe dryer for 2 pairs of shoes. Our room had beautiful large windows that looked out to the wooded areas. There was A/C in the room (others said that other properties didn’t have A/C???) along with a ceiling fan. Large tv and gas fireplace. I didn’t bring my clubs, would have been too much golfing for me but I was able to walk along with my family and enjoy the beautiful golf courses (at no charge). The pro shops were very nice with different price points available. Everyone was very friendly and helpful also. Not too much to do, if you aren’t a golfer but it is a golf paradise if you golf! We ate at the Pacific Grill, it was very good. We also drove in to Coos Bay and ate at a Brewery one night. About a 30 min drive from Bandon Dunes.
Be the first to ReplyIf you are not a golfer, this hotel is to be avoided.
Made reservation many months in advance. Needed two rooms either next to each other or across hall. Explained about handicap condition. Assigned rooms in Lily Pond. When we arrived and went to building, found an exterior set of steps to enter building and much to our disgust the rooms were numbered next but were actually on different ends of hallways. Front desk, "oh sorry". There is no handicapped parking near building but is in a parking lot across a field. When I asked to park close to building, oh sorry that wouldn't allow golf bus to pick up passengers. Now we get to dining. At breakfast we drive to building where breakfast is served only to find a long flight of steps to get in as dining room is upstairs. The hostess said oh I can get you in the elevator Well, yes there is an elevator. A SERVICE ELEVATOR FOR DELIVERIES THAT STANK LIKE FISH AND GARBAGE. How does this hotel get by renting rooms to the public when they have no compliance with basic ADA law? If they only want golfers, should NOT rent to over night guests. Really a disgrace in 2022. Attitude of staff to non golfers could not be more offensive.

If you are an avid golfer, Bandon Dunes Golf Resort should be on your bucket list. Pure golf, the way it was meant to be. All walking. Five outstanding 18-hole courses, and a 13-hole par three course that is also a must play. Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes rival any golf course in the world. Bandon Trails has a different character, but is strikingly beautiful in its own way, infinitely fun and challenging. Sheep Ranch has stunning ocean view from start to finish. The Preserve is a most outstanding par-3 course - relaxing and fun for a group on a golf trip. We visited in early May of 2022 and, even though we had lousy weather, the quality of the golf courses made up for it in spades. Hire a caddy, if you can. My son and I did so for two of the 8 rounds we played, and it greatly enhanced the experience. The caddies are professional and helpful. I was amazed at how quickly they figured out our ball flights, how far with this the ball, and our overall skill level. Within a couple of holes, they were able to give us spot-on advice on what clubs to hit, which lines to pick, and where to aim. The accommodations (we stayed in the Chrome Lake cabins) are comfortable and well-appointed. The restaurants at each course are varied and the food is of good quality. The Bunker Bar is a great place for a whisky and a cigar. I would agree, as some reviewers have observed, that most things are male-centric, but that’s not unusual in the golf world. All in all - this is definitely a high-end resort, with a high-end price tag. But if you love golf, it’s hard to imagine a better experience than this.

We had a gift cert. for Bandon Dunes and could wait to play there. The course was everything we expected it to be. We didnt have a caddy but the couple we played with did and he was very helpful with making it through the course. The views from the course were as expected a beautiful course. A little hard walk as there are rolling hills but well worth the hike

this is the best resort i have ever played at ... 5 18 hole caurses, 4 along the ocean cliffs. each course is a little different with their own challenges. it is walking only which i love. there is also a 13 hole par three where the green fees go to the local conservation organizations. the staff is there to make your experience enjoyable ... all aspects ... rooms, dining, golf, practice areas. open all year ... i have taken 8 trips there and we have just signed up to go again in 2023.
Be the first to ReplyFirst rate golf and third rate hotel
First rate golf course and caddy program with a third rate accommodations s experience . Poor and inexperienced staffing shows they are not ready for big crowds even though they will tell you they are . The golf is magnificent but a Holiday Inn experience at the hotel. This place has gone down hill since we last came here 10 years ago. Need to invest in staff training and how to handle big crowds with short staffing

My wife and I played golf on the Sheep Ranch course. What a great experience. Our caddy Shawn was fantastic. A knowledgeable young man with wonderful social skills. The course was challenging but not overpowering. Highly recommended 🏌🏿 ♂️
Be the first to ReplyGreat stay, but not worth the price
Visited for 4 days, stayed at the Lodge, and played all the courses hitting Bandon Dunes twice. I ate at the Pacific Grill, McNeese Pub, and spent some time in the Bunker Bar. First and foremost the staff was great. I don't think I saw anyone that didn't proactively make sure everything was going well and offering their support. Really a friendly and fantastic job. The golf course were all great as well although the several of the rounds were unmanageable in length (over 5 hours). While they tag us with GPS, they didn't seem to have rangers on the course to move people along. This was frustrating given it is a golf destination and the signs indicated 4 hour target. They need to improve here. The Lodge itself was nice, but less than expected. I was considering bringing my wife (who admittedly is picky on the quality of hotels where we stay) but the lodge is fairly basic. I would would say that it is basic accommodations - not great, not bad. I would say the resorts marketing exceeds what it actually delivers, but don't get me wrong that is probably due to over marketing vs. any significant deficiency in the resort. The more significant drawback for me was the price for what you get. At $350 a round for your first daily round and $150 for your second, we are talking $500 per day. It is about $100 less if you stay on the property (at $320/night for a single queen). We had a discount which was good as my son was 22 yrs old or under so he was free and it was on his . I could see that cost for Pacific Dunes and perhaps Bandon Dunes, but they are essentially overcharging for the other courses. They are all nice, but clearly each course is not worth the same $500 per day per person. While the trip was on my son's "bucket list" he agreed that it was great but not really worth the full price paid.
