As a regular for over 15 years, it took a lot for OB to finally change our mind in never going again. Let’s begin with Auberge, they used to be one of the better restaurants before the arrival of Alo & others. They never had amazing ingredients, but their service , atmosphere and culinary skills were constant. Well, not anymore! For $200 per person on new years days, the food and service was less than pleasing to say the least. Nothing from the ingredients was at all unique nor special. Fish as the main was likely previously frozen causing it to have an awful texture. Portion used to be one of their strong points, but that is also out of the window during several meals we had this year. Wasn’t sure if the server was in a rush or just his personality, but he was rude to unpleasant to be with. A simple question of whether a replacement could be made turned into a nightmare of one minute awkward silence. “No, no substitutions!” As if if he was a afraid guests were to order anything else that would cause his tips to decrease. After the extremely awkward and awful discussion, next question that comes out of his mouth was what wine would you like? I suggest the $250 bottles because it’s amazing 🤨 Days earlier, we also went to Canoe, again nothing impressive and nothing like pre Covid days. It is truly disappointment to see what our dinning scene has coming since Covid. 20% -40% increases every chance we get, food portion and quality down with every opportunity just to save a pretty penny. Wonder who would be next to replace these restaurant chains? In short, for $200 nowadays at auberge, you are still likely to leave hungry and possibly mad because you don’t know what just happened. Friendly personal story and ⚠️ warning, for those who cares about how they are spending their hard earned money.
