After reading the reviews I was hesitant to come to AOC
After reading the reviews I was hesitant to come to AOC Brentwood because the prices were high and food + seemed to be inconsistent. I'm delighted to say I thought the three dishes we ordered were wonderful!! The Spanish fried chicken, curry cauliflower, and sweet potatoes were delectable and left us wanting more. However, I was disappointed by the flavor of the bacon wrapped dates as they were a top hit on Yelp. I felt the cheese tasted fake and rubbery and did not compliment the sweet and salty dish like it should have. I am giving my four stars due to our service. While the waiters were very kind, they were notably absent throughout our meal. It was very hard to track down someone to get water and when you did find someone they would only fill the (small) glass halfway. Very odd. Even when I asked for the server to fill my glass to the top, he still only filled it halfway. Once we asked for the check, it took our waiter 45 minutes to come back to our table to drop it off. We thought he forgot about our table. A one hour dinner turned into two hours solely because of MIA waitstaff.

I went early yesterday evening to a practically empty restaurant hoping for a nice quiet meal. I sat at the bar with a few other patrons and ordered a drink, and then a glass of wine. Then a waiter came from behind a set down the potatoes I had ordered as a part of the "Zuni Cafe" inspired chicken. Twenty minutes elapsed, while the potatoes proceeded to get cold, and no bar tender came to check on things or even look my way. Finally, after failing to get any of their attention--even by holding a credit card in the air--I got up and walked the length of the bar to hand the bartended my credit card to pay for the drinks. "Are you sure?" he asked. Yes, I was sure. yelp.com/biz/zuni-café-s…

Went for dinner last night, it has a great ambience inside, knowledgeable staff. Great variety on the menu but probably nicer during the day to visit. It was quite loud and busy for a weekday night. Also took about 25 minutes to get the bottle of wine we ordered. It arrived after the first two dishes, wish we'd been able to enjoy it sooner. The chicken was delicious but apparently not quite up to the dish from SF it's inspired by. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts that was my favorite of the food we ordered.

My boyfriend and I came here the other night for date night and luck was definitely on our side. We were lucky enough to find parking right in front & i think there's a parking lot close by too!The reason why we had such a great date night was because our server, Christophe was so pleasant! He had great recommendations, lovely energy and was so hospitable. He made us feel right at home! I think service like that goes a long way when eating at a restaurant. So thank you to Christophe (sorry if I spelled your name wrong lol) for making our evening such a bright spot in our week! We appreciate good people like you! We wanted something "healthy" and fresh. Our favorite appetizer was the Farmer's Plate (this was roasted vegetables with delicious burrata cheese & dips). I also loved my green goddess cocktail! My boyfriend's favorite was the focaccia.A nice, local spot for a dinner date. Enough energy and people to make it feel busy, but not too loud where you can still talk and have a convo. We'd love to come back soon! Thanks, AOC & Christophe!
Be the first to ReplyWas looking forward to this meal.
We shared the steak (eh), brussel sprouts (eh, too salty), focaccia with pistachios (good but super small) and saffron noodles (ok). Butterscotch dessert was amazing. Service was ok. Bread and butter was good (but there was a charge). Would not go back.

The crowd in the restaurant was relatively light. As we were all either meeting or hadn't seen each other for a while, we did not immediately get our drink order together. However, we waited another 10 minutes for someone to return to our table. Then, our drinks took another 20 minutes to arrive. We watched the bartender cutting limes and preparing for a busy day, which apparently had not begun with a drink order for 8. It was at this point, the lack of service became noticeable. We then ordered food, which actually was nicely prepared and shared with between our party as requested. However, one in our party did not get an entree at all, and then only got it as everyone else was finishing (it was a salad, but incorrectly deduced that it may not take as long, but it did). I saw there was potential for good food and service, but the execution just wasn't there. The wait for each item, and then the addressing the missed order seemed to all be one of those uncomfortable waits, longer than it should be, and then some. When someone in the party ordered a second drink, he had to leave the table and pick it up himself after seeing it sit on the bar for quite a while. There was no longer trust in the staff to bring us anything in a timely manner. We stopped ordering; no after dinner drinks or dessert. This was simply an embarrassment. Had I even seen anyone who appeared to be managing this group, I would have spoken to them, as they are primarily responsible for the poor training and management of their staff. The food and the ambience deserve stars but the poor service truly diminished the experience.

I'm surprised this spot isn't rated higher! Visited on a Monday and it was almost packed indoors on a rainy night. We ordered the Brussels salad and Tagine. Service was great, and we appreciated that the waitress was honest with us in saying those two dishes were enough for 2 people. The tagine was amazing, one of my favorite fish dishes I've tried at a restaurant in a long while. I wasn't a huge fan of the Brussels salad, and would skip this dish next time. Ambiance is nice, the night we visited there were people in all types of attire at the restaurant, from very dressed up to sneakers and jeans.

Patio tables lined up out front on the sidewalk on a busy street corner. Indoors the dining room on the bar side is to the right of the host stand and the room has a classy, laid back atmosphere. In the dining room to the left of the host stand the air is stuffy and the patterned wallpaper gives the room an old fashioned tea room vibe. Both rooms can get noisy because of the high ceilings. The restrooms are the same as the old Tavern with a shared sink area for men and women. The food is predictably expensive and there's a 5% charge added for health care. We get it, they want us to know they provide health insurance - rah rah - it's the decent thing for a restaurant of its caliber to do for their employees. And when you're okay paying $20 for a cocktail, paying 5% more means nothing and is not a big deal, but unless they pay for 100% of their workers' insurance, igniting the politics of the matter by writing it in bold on the menu only provokes ignorant people to feel they're being nickel-and-dimed. We overheard an older (and clearly very wealthy) person at the table next to us say when they opened the menu, "there goes 5% of their tip". Right in front of their server and another member of staff. The presentation of the food is colorful and appetizing. This week the salmon ($38, 6oz of salmon) was served on top of shaved carrots and radishes which were seasoned perfectly with salt and pepper but were swimming in olive oil. The rustic boule with salted butter ($6) isn't a round loaf, it's 4 thick slices of tasty, lightly grilled bread. The entree salads seemed overpriced for the amount served but the ingredients were high quality. The bacon wrapped dates are always great. Wanted to order dessert but an hour after being seated and no customers waiting for tables, one of the servers dropped the check and disappeared without offering dessert, coffee, or anything else.

Food was okay tasting but portions are crazy small for the very high cost. A $20 Caesar salad was a few pieces of lettuce and a couple croutons. Focaccia was around the same cost, and smaller than the palm of my hand. Not exaggerating. We are four very small girls, we spent over $80 EACH on food alone and all left starving. Also.. can we talk about the $5 charge on every bill to cover health care for employees? Why is that my problem, and not the employers responsibility? Some of your patrons may not even have health insurance themselves, yet you are asking them to cover the cost for your staff. There could be something potentially good at this restaurant, but people will stop returning with owners this stingy.
