AnQi Bistro Costa Mesa Reviews from The Last Year
Delicious.
excellent service and food. extensive menu. nice combination of foods and sauces. nice quiet upscale ambiance. one of my new favorites. I've been there twice recently. i can't wait to go back.

Our evening could not have gone any better! Josh makes the best drinks at the bar, Shannon our server deserves an A+ and Bon, GM came over to check on us a few times and was so personable and attentive to all our needs. The food was so exceptional, I made another 2 reservations to come back in May for my BD, and another larger reservation for my "foodie group" in June. Our appetizers of Filet small circular pieces & Shrimp & Lobster potstickers were just incredible. I have the same dish every time, Filet Chow Fun, it's so exceptional I love it!! The drinks, our dishes and the food was 10+ and the staff... Josh, Shannon & Bon were incredible. WE LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!

the anqi steak 16oz is definately way too salty, the shrimp dumplings are bland, but the tacos are wonderful, service was good. Plus, the kimchi fried rice is really so so.
Food was overpriced and not very good.
I was expecting to find food out do the usual but nothing was really mind blowing. Maybe it was this dishes I got, but there are definitely better places for modern Asian food.
This place is good overall but expensive.
Some plates of food are a miss. Some dishes have a little extra something with added caviar. The garlic noodles are $20 but its a small portion and the taste is ok. Lychee martinis super good. The desserts are great with the Magic Coconut ice cream dish super yummy. Good service
Such a lovely place to celebrate a friend's birthday lunch!
Such a lovely place to celebrate a friend's birthday lunch! AnQi had a card written up and propped on our table to wish my friend a happy birthday. Our waiter Alan was great and super attentive. Here's what we ordered to celebrate: Lychee Cloud Mocktail: probably the most delicious mocktail I've ever had! It's so smooth and has delicate tropical flavors. Obsessed. Shrimp & Lobster Dumplings: so flavorful that I wish I could eat more of them. ;) Salt & Pepper Calamari: yummy and comes with a delicious dipping sauce. Crispy Orange Peel Chicken: as delicious as I remembered with great texture and crunch while being drenched in a deliciously tangy and savory sauce. A slightly smaller portion for lunch that is also served with rice. An's Famous Garlic Noodles: the absolute best! Can't leave AnQi without these noods. :) An's Famous Garlic Rice: a must order if you like rice more than noodles. Garlic Butter Hanger Steak: hearty entree that is served on a sizzling salt block. AnQi gifted us two tasty desserts for my friend's birthday - the lychee panna cotta and the ube cake. Thank you for making her birthday celebration so fun and special!
Beautiful and dimly lit main dining room.
Perfect for a date. Asian fusion dishes are very tasty and prices are relatively high but as expected for this type of restaurant. My all time favorite is their butter fish! It is soooo delicious and melt in your mouth texture. Their garlic noodles are pretty good too. They have plenty of dessert options. The tableside ice cream is lots of fun and definitely an experience if you want to impress someone. Beignets are solid. I really like the coconut dessert. It's so pretty and has a great mix of different flavors and textures. I've experienced great service and so so service here. Just depends who you get...which is a little unfortunate when you get a non-attentive server at such a nice restaurant.

The food here is outstanding! The service is exceptional, they really aim to please here. We came with a larger group and sampled our way through most of the menu. The garlic, rice and garlic noodles are must, their Vietnamese coffee and desserts are not to be missed either. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, the tension to detail And use of quality ingredients is noticeable. Beautifully presented, ideal for special occasion, or celebration! Highly recommended!
Excellent food in a beautiful place.
I normally avoid restaurants in malls and hotels, but this place is an exception. Outstanding Asian food, perfectly cooked and delicious. Good service. Good wine and cocktails. I would recommend the leek dumplings, the eggplant, garlic noodles and the beef.
Recently had dinner there.
Service was pretty good. Water cups kept at approximately 60% full. Decent return rate from water and associates to check on our satisfaction. Food came out rather quickly although the place wasn't very full. Quality of food was okay. Rib eye cooked well with low percentage of inter muscular fat. Small hot plates were not substantial and taste okay. Fried rice dishes were lacking. Vegetables were memorable for all the right reasons. Note: They charge 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more.
I hurry to write this review because this restaurant has
I hurry to write this review because this restaurant has been on my mind for a long time but somehow I never went there, I decided to take the plunge today after I saw the Crustacean restaurant in Beverley Hills, wow, you know you have arrived if you have a fancy restaurant in such a famous town. I read about Helene An life story years ago in the OC Register, I was impressed w what she had accomplished after her husband passed away and if I remember correctly she has 3 or 4 daughters, she has such a compelling life story and how she raised her daughters and opened by now 5 restaurants, she is the legend and iron chef in Little Saigon. We now have 2 dynasties, An w her 100% jam packed Brodard and Brodard chateau, An Qi, etc.., the 2nd dynasty is the Kei concept founded by a young Vietnamese w probably his brothers, all the young men I saw in all his restaurants, together they own almost all the popular restaurants. OK so that is the background and history. I can tell you I'm most probably right to say An is not cooking in this restaurant because I cannot imagine any VN would not know a certain thing that is in Vietnamese cooking. I hope the chef is not too foreign, I saw many VN restaurants in Little Saigon, they hire Latinos and the food all tasted like tacos! Many servers here were latino, my server was a wonderful courteous man, the service was impeccable. I ordered: 1) Beef satay, I didn't know what they were thinking, satay means it has to have peanut sauce, sometimes mixed w a little curry or coconut, here they cooked it in LEMONGRAS! It was also lukewarm and tasted beefy, I asked to have it heated, he brought it back still not piping hot, I took 1/2 of it home to fix them. 2 stars. 2) Prawns with garlic noodles. It was also lukewarm, I sent it back to be reheated, again, it came back lukewarm, how could that be? Am I the only one this fussy? Or should the food come out piping hot? It was 3 stars after I added lemon to kill the sweet taste. 3) Filet mignon chow fun. It tasted good but because it was too sweet even after lemon and siracha I still tasted the sweetness so it was 3.5 stars. Everything was only lukewarm and too too too sweet, it was supposed to be an elevated experience w fusion Vietnamese cuisine not dessert? I looked around, the guests were mostly not Asian and probably most have not been to Vietnam to make comparisons. I was underwhelmed and disappointed they had no soup, the Yelp menu was not updated, they took out the wonton soup, Phobo and a few other dishes. I'm glad I did not order the crab, $95 is beyond overpriced especially crab is mostly shells and w the above dishes all sweet, I would not want a sugary crab! The décor is superb, you walk into literally Shangrila, the table next to us had an ice cream show, they have it on almost every cruise ship but I enjoyed watching it. I cannot rate this higher than 3 stars and I am not coming back.
AnQi has been a long-time favorite, especially whenever
AnQi has been a long-time favorite, especially whenever we're craving their ridiculously flavorful garlic noodles and garlic rice! Both are "famous" for a reason! We recently had an epic Sunday feast to introduce two of our friends to AnQi for the first time, so of course we had to get a nice variety of dishes going. DRINKS: Red Cucumber: refreshing and well-balanced, and it reminds me of a nice summer cocktail like a Pimm's Cup! Heavenly Pear: the pear is so fragrant! If you like sweet drinks with pear flavor, you won't be disappointed. Lychee Cloud Mocktail: such a smooth, tropical, and yummy drink! APPETIZERS: Tombo Tuna Tacos: a fun blend of textures and flavors and the truffly-goodness makes this dish a standout. Truffle Sashimi: for sashimi lovers! Bulgogi Wonton Nachos: an explosion of flavors - the savory and sweet bulgogi goes perfectly with cheesy, green onions, jalapeno, and crispy wonton texture. A true crowd-pleaser! ENTREES: Mongolian Lamb Chop: perfectly cooked and seasoned. We ordered medium rare and it was tender and delicious! AnQi Signature Sizzling Salt Block Prime Ribeye: served with Malaysian Black Pepper Sauce. Not only is this an incredible presentation, the quality of the meat is top-notch and super flavorful. Definitely recommend this for steak lovers. Crispy Orange Peel Chicken: probably my favorite version of this dish! A delightful and satisfying crunch in every bite, and the tangy and saucy goodness of the chicken makes you crave more of it. I have to order this again! SIDES: Seasonal Wok Vegetables: fresh greens paired with king oyster slices - so yummy! Grilled Broccolini: excellent preparation and pork flavor. An's Famous Garlic Rice: an unassuming dish that blows you away with garlic-y goodness! An's Famous Garlic Noodles: if you leave AnQi without ordering this, did you even go to AnQi?! Absolutely scrumptious and addicting. DESSERTS: Jasmine Sorbet: the perfect way to cleanse your palate before feasting on desserts! I recommend a single scoop to enjoy the fragrant jasmine flavor and reset from a big dinner. Magically Coconut: fresh, tropical, and not too sweet or overpowering with its coconut sorbet interior and dark chocolate exterior. A very fun and yummy dessert! Lychee Panna Cotta: loved how delicious this tropical dessert was without being too heavy or sweet. Warm Beignets with a scoop of Tahitian Vanilla Bean and Vietnamese Coffee Creme Anglaise: warm beignets with a lovely, pillowy texture, not too sweet, and the creme anglaise is incredible. Service is excellent and the interiors feel upscale and trendy. The high quality matches the high price tag, and we never leave AnQi hungry. It's a special treat to visit and enjoy again and again! For a quicker, more casual, and slightly more wallet-friendly option, you can check out their Noodle Bar right outside (next to Bloomingdale's).

Service and Decor were excellent but food was delivered at room temp, dumplings soggy and $20 noodles insanely overpriced and simply dumped in an oversized bowl and looked like top Ramen

Four of us went for dinner not knowing it was Restaurant Week in Orange County, and was surprised that we could take advantage of such a good deal. We got a 5 course meal for $60/person that was so good. First the restaurant is beautiful and the service top notch. We all selected the "Award Winning" Combo Tuna Tacos and with the first bite we all knew that "Award Winning" was the case. Our second and third course was the same for all of us (preset on the menu) with kind of like a half portion of an excellent Caesar salad and garlic noodles. For our main course two of us selected Shaken Beef, one of us the Peking Roasted Chicken and one of us the Snapper. Each dish looked so good and we all enjoyed our choice. I had the Shaken Beef and it was a great dish. Beef was so tender that you almost did not need a knife to cut a smaller piece. The sauce was so tasty and the added sting beans and tomatoes added just the right touch. I took half home to enjoy the next day. Dessert was a chocolate with hazelnut mini cake. This was a first class experience. Even though we did not know it was Restaurant week, that is a great program to introduce someone to a new Restaurant and we all said we will be back
Was here for restaurant week.
Good deal for $25 as the snapper(chefs choice) was good but the salad was more of a side salad and not an entree. Chris the server was great and attentive which brings this review to a 5 star.

We were so excited to see the Pastrami Egg Rolls on the Restaurant Week menu. These have been off the regular menu for years and as such this place fell off the rotation. Took a day off work to enjoy lunch. What a disappointment to find the appetizer was nothing more than two skimpy bites. The shaken beef was good as was the Orange Chicken, but we were really hoping for something more substantial from the appetizer.
Everything is always delicious and flavorful.
AnQi never disappoints, I've been a fan since they launched in South Coast Plaza!
This review is about prices not service or food.
Price for "large" bowl of garlic noodles is $20 but this would be considered a small bowl, 1/2 filled by anyone else. Seriously like 4 bites....

Good food, ok service, they don't accept more than 3 credit cards per bill, which is inconvenient and probably a deal breaker.

I recently dined at this upscale Vietnamese restaurant and was impressed by the fusion cuisine and beautiful ambience. I ordered the Tombo Tuna Tacos, Bulgogi Wonton Nachos, Lobster Dumplings and Misoyaki Butterfish. The dishes were a delightful blend of flavors, and the atmosphere added to the overall experience. Our server was very nice and attentive. The pricing seemed a bit steep, making it more suitable for special occasions than regular dining.
A Very Disappointing Experience
Had lunch on Sunday, Oct 22. Beautiful decor. Attentive service. Very disappointing food. Ordered kung pao chicken and ginger prawn noodles. The chicken was insipid. It had no character, no distinct flavor. I’ve had better at cheaper price at a local Chinese eatery. The noodles were mushy, overcooked, also lacking in flavor. Portions tend to be small. Kung pao chicken is listed on the menu under the label Large Plates, but nothing of the sort. Ultimately, portion wouldn’t matter if the flavors were memorable. They weren’t. Don’t plan to return. The kitchen staff needs to do a lot of soul searching and deliver dishes that truly exemplify what the restaurant claims to be. As it now stands, it’s an overpriced, worse than run of the mill place.
Delicious!
Friendly professional service from everyone, hostess to servers. The pear cocktail was extremely delicious!!! Hoping that stays on menu for a long time so I can order next time I go there. Fish was fresh & perfectly prepared. This restaurant is on the pricey side but the ingredients are high quality so well worth it. Everyone in group loved their cocktails and each of their dishes. Diverse menu in terms of Asian food as well as more Americanized meat offerings. This place is always busy & it's no wonder.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
