TL;DR - Michelin Guide restaurant with unique food
TL;DR - Michelin Guide restaurant with unique food selections a la carte with reasonable prices. Dishes are refined and the chicken liver toast, bone marrow, and marrow burger are a must! Overall my #2 restaurant behind COTE nyc and Kinship DC! Food: refined dishes that are creative and Michelin star quality! I really enjoyed the soft shell crab. Fried to perfection accompanied with a unique green sauce that cut through the fatty fried crab. The only dish I didn't like was the duck confit. It was a bit dry on the outside and it was covered with fresh and dry herbs and spices that ended up being overpowering, and there was nothing to balance the greasiness of the duck confit. We didn't finish it. Service: solid service with a nice server who gave us recommendations for how to customize our selection and give the meal some balance. He gave us the dishes in the order he thought was best while taking into account each dish's unique qualities (like a fruit salad after the fried pig ear). Ambiance: simple decor with medium level of chatter buzzing about. Decor was a bit too simple, and I wish the place wasn't so grey and concrete, but hey the food slapped.
My husband picked this spot for date night some months back
My husband picked this spot for date night some months back and we really enjoyed the meal and our night! It's one of the few LA restaurants that gave me that NYC vibe. What we ate: Chicken liver toast Hamachi tostada Crispy pig ears Crispy rice Sweetbreads Burger Dessert - sticky toffee cake of sorts Everything was delicious but I think the burger, sweetbreads, and chicken liver toast were the winners. They've got a nice wine menu as well and I had a glass of natural wine with dinner. Unfortunately, I think they are permanently closing their restaurant this summer..
How does this place still have 4 stars? I've been here
How does this place still have 4 stars? I've been here three times. Twice before COVID, once after. It used to be great, but the place has gone tremendously downhill since COVID. I was so excited to go back, but it was truly the worst experience. Idk what was worse: the food or the service. JK, the food was definitely bad enough to take the cake on this one. I went with my boyfriend and 4 friends so we ordered a lot from the menu and got a pretty good sampling of everything... and absolutely none of it was good. In fact, it was hardly even what I would describe as edible and we actually didn't eat most of it, so it was a complete waste of money and food. Absolutely a let down and mildly infuriating (or wildly infuriating, I'm just trying to be level-headed). The chef seems to have some odd obsession with lime. I don't hate lime by any means, but there can certainly be too much of a good thing and this was WAY too much. The bone marrow had practically ZERO marrow and was all just a bunch of chimichurri on top of a bone. Absolute let down. The sweetbreads were bad, the duck was SO DRY and over cooked. Truly every dish was worse than the last Now for the service, our waiter was rude and for some reason didn't like the way we were ordering? Because we were three couples, and each couple wanted something different (and some had dietary restrictions), we were ordering multiple things per couple, but he didn't like that -- apparently we were supposed to order multiple things for the whole table and share them amongst ourselves. I don't really see what difference it makes since we definitely ordered plenty (so he didn't need to worry about not getting a big tip... but I'll get to the tipping in a bit). So what difference does it make to him if we split all the dishes among the whole table or just between the couples? Please make it make sense. (And to clarify, we paid the tab all on one card, so it couldn't have been an issue about complicating the bill either.) Anyways on to the tip... There is an automatic service charge (I believe it was 18%? Could've been a full 20%) and it was made loud and clear that this was NOT a tip. So let me get this straight, you want me to pay a ton of money for absolutely inedible food, then you're gonna charge me 18-20% on top of that, then you expect me to tip another 20% for rude service? Why not just charge the amount you wanted to charge for the dishes then? Is it because you know this is absurd? Anyways the experience was all around terrible and put me in a foul mood and I will never return to this place again. Which is so sad, because the food here really used to be divine.

Went for my anniversary a month ago and had an awesome experience. Their pig ear and bone marrow dishes were amazing. We rave about wanting them til this day! We were also surprised by how delicious the liver toast was. I also recommend the skirt steak if available. Jacob was a great server! We will be back!

Five stars, the wait staff is knowledgeable about every dish. I will be returning here. The ambiance is low lit and relaxing but the tables are tiny. Ended up getting a seat towards the end of the night and ate the star item. Enjoyed it. A lot of café put into every plate.

How to list a Nobu Malibu reservation

Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Write a note with the Name of the restaurant, Name on reservation, day/time/number of people, your phone number. Then on the bottom wrote “confirmed by phone”. Screenshot it and submit.
