American Comedy Co. San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
ACC, The Best Club In The City.
I've seen dozens of amazing shows here, most recently Casey Rocket, and I am going to be attending many of the shows happening during Comic-Con. ACC is hands down the best comedy club in San Diego. The comedians they book are top notch, and the vibe in the underground room is very cool. I've never had any service issues, other than a slightly long wait for food and drinks, but that's only on nights where it's a big show, and the club is packed. Some reviewers are criticizing the prices and menu items, but I think you can make those criticisms about pretty much anywhere you would go in this area at night. Overall, this is a great club, and I highly recommend it. Look at their event calendar, and I'm sure you'll find a comedian that's worth going out and seeing.
A good time.
Didn't expect it to be packed! $5 drinks (see menu) Comics were okay. It's open mic so anyone can sign up but support your local comic so they can get some time on stage (they have tix w their names).

I stumbled across this hole in the wall comedy club while just walking the street. I saw a sign that said open mic, free admission and I was like, I don't mind if I do. They had the downstairs open and it was packed. There was a bar in the back that had drink specials all night. They had a small selection of signature cocktails and a few snacks available to purchase. I got a margarita and it was pretty good. Even though I had limited interaction with them, the staff was friendly enough. You will find metered street parking in front of the club and within a reasonable walking distance. There were high tops in the back and bench seating up front. It was good to see some aspiring comics and I really respected their grind. Most of them were not funny. They would get an occasional snicker from me (most of the time because of the crowds reaction to the bad joke). The MC kept the show going and was pretty funny. You always wonder when at events like this....I am seeing the next big name in comedy. I will be honest, I would be very surprised if I did that night. Also, I heard that if you been to one open mic that the shows become a bit receptive with the comics doing the same sets that they did in previous open mic shows. This was my first time however, so it was all new stuff to me. This is a locally owned and operated club. From what I have seen, it does not get the huge names in the comedy game on a regular basis, but still gets some talented funny men and women to come through. I did see that they have DL Hughley and Craig Robinson coming soon too. This would make a great date night or girls/boys night out. I am very glad that I was able to check it out.
The club iitself has a pretty cool downtown location.
It's in a basement with brick walls and some kitschy anericana items like Ronald McDonald sitting on a park bench. We were seated in very specific seats about mid room. I saw 2 seats in a corner just a little ahead of us on the side wall and we tried to move our seats. We were promptly told to move back to our assigned seats because a larger party had dibs on the two seats along the wall adjacent to 2 other 4 party tables. So we moved back. Then one of the tables of 4 were seated. And later the 2 party table was seated. After a while it was clear that the couple did not know the other party at all. Not only that the other 4 party table was open the entire night. So much for "first come first serve seating" as advertised. I could understand being told no if we were trying to get all the way up front but we were just trying to get a two party table to ourselves mid-room. Next the drinks. It took forever for our server to take our drink order. Granted he did have 2 large parties ahead of us and was apologetic. The "specialty drinks" at 16$ a pop were the worst I've ever had. They were drinks though albeit light on the "specialty". One I ordered was a watered down margarita. It's difficult to find a bad margarita in San Diego but this place has them. It's a 2 drink minimum and we ordered only that. Had the drinks been better we might have ordered more. I recommend sticking to wine or beer. All that being said, the headliner TJ Miller did not disappoint. We appreciated how he incorporated local flavor like Sea World into his act. He had a bit about driver's licenses that had the room in unbroken laughter. If he had not been the headliner we wouldn't have gone to the ACC. So well done on the talent. Unless there is another big headliner we probably won't be back.
What an AMAZING show.
From the host Keith, Annie Letterman and headliner TJ Miller my wife and I laughed pretty much the entire show. Very well put together and loved the way they interacted with the audience. Definitely a must see show. Great venue, great staff, thank you for a very wonderful evening.
I'd say I like this comedy club overall.
But not always the best comedians show up. Sometimes the openers are better than the headliners. Like Dustin Ibarra, he needs to be a headliner hes freaking Halarious! The prices for drinks are a bit much. I learned recently a two drink minimum also includes sodas or coffee so that's good to know. I would suggest getting their early for your scheduled showtime because the line gets long. But also taking public transportation or a lyft if you can because unless your down here early parking is a pain. Other than that it's always a good time!

The moment you get to the club you are welcomed by their security staff who have an awesome vibe. This is a cool cellar comedy club that is an intimate setting that feels like a cozy living room where laughter echoes off the walls. The dim lighting, brick walls, and the stage adorned with a single spotlight create an inviting atmosphere. The club consistently hosts top-notch comedians who totally kill. I go here 4-5x's/year and its worth every penny!
Great experience and customer service.
I accidentally bought tickets to the wrong show and sent them email, they quickly reimbursed me and made sure I was able to see the correct show. Place is everything a comedy club should be, 5 star experience!

Really enjoy seeing comics here! We did have little mishap/miss understanding with the beverages and management graciously corrected it. I recommend seeing your favorite comedians here if you have the chance. Great experience!
Had a poor experience at American Comedy Co.
Waited 2 hrs due to a pipe burst with health hazards. Was wrongly charged for Bud Lights I replaced with an IPA and overcharged for a Tom Collins. Attempts to resolve were ignored, adding to the frustration of a night already marred by delays. Not returning.
I read the reviews, I knew what to watch out for.
Everyone was very nice and professional. From the front door to the servers. Ordering was easy. They checked on us throughout the show. Food isn't fantastic, but I suspected that so I ate before. My friends ate the nachos and fries and it was fine. The show started on time and each comic was great. It was a smaller crowd which was good. If it was a full house it would have gotten really hot in there. It was a bit warm.
Great show... just be careful when you order drinks!
Watched Dave Attell. Great show. Dude's hilarious. Love the venue since it's in a "basement", dark with brink walls. Nice vibe. 5th show I watched at ACC. Security and host at the door were efficient and friendly. There is a (2) drink minimum but no secret there. Most clubs have it. For me, it really should be a (2) ITEM purchase minimum. Gets expensive when you're into it for tickets ($40: x2), cost of parking in downtown (+$30), drink minimum ($9 to $15: x2)... and food (+$10 to $20). Great cocktail selection and beer. Food is also a big portion and tasty. Service is polite and fast. My only issue is how they take your order. It felt kind of shady and left a bad taste in our mouth after the show. 1. After we asked what beer was on tap, she asked what size (16oz or 20oz)? My friend said, "I'll take the big one. (20oz, $14). When his beer came, it came in a huge (32oz+) mug. We thought, "Wow, that's huge?" After he took a few sips, he looked at the menu and it turns out they brought him the 34oz beer in a "souvenir mug" ($42). When we asked about it, they said, "You said you wanted the big one." SHADY! Show was about to start so didn't make it an issue. 2. The server then ask us if we wanted water. "Do you want bottled or sparkling (both $8)? I emphasized, "tap water" which is free. But they made it sound like it wasn't a choice. SHADY! The people behind us didn't catch on until they got their bill for $32 for 4 bottles of Fiji. SHADY! 3) They also take a credit card (No cash accepted) once you place your order. At the end of the show, you get your bill and credit card receipt for signature. You really don't get a chance to review the bill since it's already been charged. SHADY! 4) We knew to take our "souvenir mug" but many around us didn't. So servers would just take them while clearing the tables. I don't think people realize or was told that "souvenir mugs" mean you get to take it home. NOT COOL! Overall, we had a great time but will be more careful next time.
Great laughs & strong drinks!
If you’re into stand-up comedy and find yourself in San Diego, you’ve gotta check out American Comedy Co. Seriously, this place is the real deal. I’ve been there a bunch of times and it never disappoints. I’ve caught shows from some of the comedy greats like Dave Attel, Dan Soder, Jim Jefferies, and ISMO. Every show’s been a blast with some killer opening acts too. The place has this cool underground vibe that makes every night feel special. And let’s talk about the drinks - strong enough to get you laughing even harder. The food? Definitely hits the spot. Plus, the staff are the best - super friendly and always making sure you’re having a great time. I’ve seen a few new comedy spots pop up around San Diego, but nothing beats the vibe at American Comedy Co. Trust me, for a night of awesome comedy, this place is where it’s at. Can’t recommend it enough!

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

When it says working on bid, it means there are people looking to fill it.
