Lovely, with only one gripe….
The menu was excellent and the food beautifully fresh. The staff were excellent too, talking us through traditional Danish dishes. The restaurant is Michelin starred, extremely popular and you need to book weeks in advance to get a table. One negative point - we ordered Danish beers (which were lovely), but also tap water for which we were charged £3.50. I thought this was really cheeky, but was the only blemish on a lovely meal.

Thank you for a perfect Birthday lunch today. The staff are lovely, friendly and welcoming, food top notch, ambience relaxed. 💯 % recommend

Wonderful restaurant for an authentic Danish lunch. It was very busy but the staff could not be more welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Best food we ate in Copenhagen (cardamon buns aside 😉!) and the beer & schnapps aligned to the food were a revelation. Just 10/10.
Be the first to ReplyVery good restaurant near Amalenborg
Very good restaurant in Copenhagen near Amalenborg which serves quite late until 3:30 p.m. Very pleasant service. Good evening dishes with Danish specialties like curried anchovies. At a responsible price. Very good choice. Friendly servers 😉

Great option close to Roya Palace for a traditional Danish food in a very friendly, nice place. Good food, great team and very good experience
Be the first to ReplyDanish specialties
Danish specialty restaurant nestled in a mezzanine like many others in Copenhagen. Decoration and atmosphere focusing on tradition. Very friendly welcome, we took the time to explain the menu to us. We discover strong traditional dishes well executed. Reasonable prices. In short, I recommend without hesitation for a Danish lunch.
Be the first to ReplyNice lunch but more prawns next time Amalie☺️
Went to Amalie for lunch again and they do not disappoint. Always polite and attentive staff. Got plaice with mayo and prawns, tartare and tenderloin with mushroom a la creme. Delicious - only complaint is that there wasn't enough of the hand-peeled prawns, we got 6-7 prawns and at that price there should have been more.

Only serves lunch. Very pleasant atmosphere. Excellent service. Had chicken salad with a light curried sauce and pieces of thick crisp bacon and medium, rare roast beef with crispy onions and fresh horseradish on rye with a béarnaise sauce. Both large servings and excellent. Excellent filter coffee. Highly recommended would definitely return.

Be the first to ReplyShameful!
Not a second time for us, why all those positive reviews? We ordered plaice fillet and within 5 minutes it was in front of us, probably fried in advance because it was not warm at all and tasted of nothing; It was provided with 1 sprig of dill and half a cherry tomato, a big shame. Price/quality, far too expensive for deep fry food.
Be the first to ReplyThe place to go in Copenhagen for Danish cuisine
Outstanding Danish food and the staff took great pleasure in explaining the delicacies to us tourists! We had the five course lunch menu, featuring pickled and curried herring, gravadlax, fried plaice, pork with onions and Danish cheese to finish. Each course was delicious. Beer selection is good and a glass of the aquavit (schnapps) with the herring went down a treat. We would have gone back for more but it only opens for lunch!
Be the first to ReplyA royal feeling to quality food
A cosy small restaurant a few doors away from the Royal Palace at Amalienborg. The plates are all Royal Copenhagen with smaller side plates stamped underneath with the numbers 617. Watching from the wall was King Frederick IX making sure the food was upto standard. There are infact Michelin restaurant signs outside and the food is very well prepared and full of original taste. The herring marinated in port was the only dish not upto standard and lacked taste otherwise everything else was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyClassic Danish restaurant near the Amalie Palace
We managed to get a table after visiting the Amalie Palace. The place was packed with Danes (good sign) and I am surprised we got in. The food is traditional, very beautifully presented and fresh. The tables are close together, but this makes for fun conversation with neighbors. This is the most classically Danish experience we had in Copenhagen, and we loved the experience.

Very quite and charming little restaurant in a lovely area. we enjoyed our meal and the waiter was very attentive. This restaurant was recommended and we were glad to eat here. The portion sizes were a bit small but for lunch we thought that was fine.

Delicious fish & herring, intimate bright atmosphere with a quiet table in the corner as requested. Reserve in advance. Near Admiral hotel and Amalienburg palace museum.
Be the first to ReplyOK vegetarian food for lunch
We went here for lunch and ordered the three vegetarian sandwiches. They were not bad but were not particularly interesting - nothing to remember. Wish they improve their vegetarian selection.
Be the first to ReplyGreat little restaurant with real Danish vibe
The restaurant is on a side street near the Amelionborg Palace and is open only at lunchtimes (except Christmas apparently when they open in the evening too as the food they serve is very part of the Danish festive season). We ate at 3pm but we weren’t hurried in any way. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and quite traditional with old pictures, clocks and plates on the walls, which are half panelled in wood. The menu features quite a lot of traditional Danish dishes, including herrings in various formats. I had gravadlax and then some tasty Danish meatballs with plenty of rye bread (rugbrod) and a bottle of Frokost cold beer. (The wine list is good but it was so hot that beer was best.) My partner had shrimps with egg and then roast beef and a fried egg on rye bread. A delicious chocolate tort with berries and a coffee to finish. Service was excellent - cheerful, friendly, informative. You can hear people chatting in the kitchen as they are cooking which adds to the idea that you are eating in someone’s home. Of course It wasn’t cheap but nothing is in Copenhagen! Delightful.
Be the first to ReplyVery very good
Great attitude, great service, excellent food and very good horseradish aquavit. Amazing how they manage so many guests on such a tiny spot.

Average food in a cozy place. Not worth the prices. Average dishes and nothing special. Though very expensive………………………………..
Be the first to ReplyGreat lunch
Unfortunately some problems with our reservation. We were here for lunch and we understood that they had some problems with the tables. They managed to give us an alternative. Great food, great experience, great service. We will come back in the future.
Be the first to ReplyA fantastic lunch stop
Hungry, directly arrived from Skanör in Sweden, we just went in to have something to eat. What a great pleasure, fantastic meal, really good service. Real danish atmosphere and warm surroundings.
I can really recommend Amalie and we have already decided to go back😊 Thank you for a nice lunch!
