I went to Alexander Steakhouse for a friend's birthday and it did not disappoint. We had a private sommelier to help plan our drinks with what we ordered. They made a birthday card and did a birthday dessert for my friend which was so sweet. The restaurant wasn't too loud but simply understated. Super clean. The food was absolutely delicious! We got cavair service, medium rare steak cooked perfectly, lobster, truffle fries, and the bone marrow. A surprise was the cotton candy dessert! So fun! Will definitely go back for special occasions.

We've waited so long to go back to Alexander's after the remodel. We can't express how amazing this place is. We've talked so well about Alexander's to our family and friends that they've had the pleasure of having the same experience. Today we started off at the bar. Susie our mixologist used her experience to create delicious cocktails that suited each of our palettes. It was good to see Rob another fantastic mixologist working behind bar. We also saw familiar faces like Jason the assistant manager for Alexander's. He is gracious and hospitable. Laurencio aka "Lencho" was our server. He is well knowledgeable with the menu and pairing our food and drinks. Our friends, my husband and I absolutely love it here. See you soon Alexander's.
Be the first to ReplyI've been to Alexander's a few times for birthday dinners.
We had a great night yesterday. Let's start with the starters. Wild Spanish Octopus is my favorite. That salad with one piece of uni on the top is too salty but I love uni so still enjoyed it. 6 of us ordered different main course and I got to try everything. Sharing is caring. Lucky me. I love the Ribeye Chop the most. We also brought 3 bottles of wine to pair with the delicious steaks(yes, excuses to drink more) I love all kinds of desert(that's why I can never lose weight). Laurencio was our server and he is the best. Lol. Well, of course because he got us rounds of birthday champagnes. Who doesn't love free champagne? He has the cutest smile. Lol. Can I call a man cute? I guess, haha. Fredrick is the one who knows a lot about red wine. If you don't know what red wine to get, look for him. The blonde reception girl is so pretty. I couldn't take my eyes of her(by the way, I'm not a lesbian) Looking forward to go back soon. Who's the next birthday friend?

This place is exceptional! We came here last night to celebrate my birthday after doing a photo shoot at the courthouse(in the rain might I add). We arrived soaked in our formal attire but everyone was beyond sweet to us & reminding us that we still looked great in spite of the rain. I've been too many high end restaurants & this place takes the cake for service. They even offered us celebratory champagne to start. Lorecio was absolutely a joy & his service was exceptional. The menu had an assortment of salads, raw bar, "not steak" & a plethora of steaks to choose from. They even offer a wagyu menu & omakase tasting. We went with the kale salad, ribeye chop & Mac n cheese. The food was phenomenal! I definitely want to try their seafood. At the end of the meal they offered a dessert menu which had some great options. We opted out because we were stuffed but they end up bringing me a delightful birthday treat anyway which surprised me. Turns out I did have enough room for dessert!lol It was delish! I highly recommend if you're looking for a nice date night or special occasion restaurant. I'm excited to return!
Be the first to ReplyBirthday DinnerThis was the best gift according to my wife.
From the moment we walk in we were greeted with a friendly and welcoming smile, the hospitality is felt in the air.We started with hamachi shot a recommendation from our server Jayse. Let tell you he is amazing you do not need the menu, just let Jayse know what you like and he will make the best choices. He will ask about any allergy to make sure you enjoy your dinning experience and will describe with so much knowledge. The birthday Girl had the Salmon, I had the Australian wagyu ribeye. The whole experience was Taylor to our needs, so much hospitality General Manager stop by and introduce him self and ask if we needed anything. Great food, hospitality and don't forget your adult drink Liquid Dessert another suggestion from Jayse.

Beautiful ambient and professional service! Got carried away with over priced tasting menu. Wine pairing is for another $85. Should have ordered steak and bottle of Opus One.
Be the first to ReplyCelebrated my birthday here for the first time.
Awesome cocktails and a huge selection of whiskeys. I've been to many similar steak houses like Mastro's and Ruth's Chris, but the one thing that really seperated Alexander's from the competition is the service. Thank you to our server: Laurencio Campos. Friendly, informative, and attentive. Come in and ask for Laurencio Campos as your server and you will not be dissapointed.
Be the first to ReplyWow this place is outstanding.
The food is amazing, the ambiance is elite, the customer service was A1. Our server was Laurencio. He was more than amazing. He was very polite and always checked up on us to make sure ever thi was okay and our experience was going well. Because of Laurencio, we had an amazing service. I appreciate it when people go above and beyond for you when you're spending a good amount of money. Overall amazing restaurant! Thank you Laurencio for this unforgettable experience.

Excellent steak, best flavor around Pasadena, serve with large portion. Enough for two meals. But very pricey, spent $850 for four people. Service was great, but slow.

We were going back and forth on going here vs chop house and def made the right decision. The food and service is par none.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service.
Courteous staff & amazing Australian filets. Mashed potato side was awesome. Lighting and tables were intimate. Pleasurable experience.
Be the first to ReplySuper nice restaurant.
Really enjoyed the food and service. Would totally recommend. On the other expensive side, but we'll worth it.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here to celebrate a birthday for dinner.
We made a reservation ahead of time since they're busy and finally reopened recently. When we arrived we parked downstairs and came up the stairs and ran in as it was raining. The parking is only complimentary for 2 hours, so you'd have to pay the rest if you stay longer, which is most likely going to be the case. We ordered a variety of appetizers to share and each tried an item from the menu as our main dish. For appetizers we got the oysters (yummy but small in size), 2 bone marrows (2 share, yummy and comes with a little bread to serve; good portion for 6 people), calliflower dish, mashed potatoes, and the bread that comes with dining there. The appetizer bread is amazing. It comes with a variety of kinds of bread and butter to try. For the main dishes, we ordered the Kansas City steak cut, lamb chops, and a few other cuts of the steak, and the lobster noodles. It was more than enough food to share. The meats were more cooked than we requested, so that's something to note. If you want medium rare, just order rare. Portion was decently large so that was nice. Staff was friendly, and conversed with us quite a bit. The bathroom was nice and clean as well (just a mention). Overall ambiance of the restaurant was nice, and had dark lighting. At times it was difficult to see, so just a note if you're coming. It's quite pricy, but you get what you pay for.

Why did the vegetable refuse to go to the steakhouse? Because it was a rare occasion! Indulge - Come without a budget but expect to exceed it for some of the highest quality meat you'll ever put in your mouth, it's the only way you'll truly enjoy the night. Who doesn't like to play a little dress up and celebrating a good night. If you're an oenophile like I am, you'll create a spreadsheet of all of their wines, rank them each on the Vivino app, get their retail price cross referenced against Alexander's price so that you can see the mark-up amount and gauge which the best "bang for your buck" wine is. Once you've narrowed that down, call Alexander's and have them decant that bottle of wine for you before you get there. That way, you roll up to your table like a freakin' BOSS, your wine has been breathing for a couple of hours and everyone around you thinks you're a wine connoisseur. Now, it's time to choose your own culinary adventure. Will you go American for the massive Omaha Portherhouse, or opt to go the Japan route with the melt-in-your-mouth Miyazaki A5? Either way, you're in for a treat. And if you're feeling adventurous, try the Hamachi shots - but be warned, you won't be able to stop at just one. The underdog and real star of the show is the mashed potatoes though, get ready to have an orgasm at the table (Yep, I said it).

At long last Alexander's has reopened! After much anticipation this amazing restaurant is back open for business. We came here for a special event and the staff did absolutely everything to ensure that we had a special evening. The food was spectacular and cannot wait to return!

Be the first to ReplyMy first visit to Alexander's was an unbelievably
My first visit to Alexander's was an unbelievably disappointing experience. My party and I were excited to celebrate a birthday at Alexander's last night, but what we got was a completely disastrous evening instead. 3 of our party of 5 have visited Alexander's multiple times at multiple locations before and highly recommended it so I was really looking forward to my first visit to enjoy Alexander's famously good service and food. We chose to sit in their outside patio since it was such a wonderful summer evening. Upon being seated I was surprised that we were handed old and ratty menus, with the menu covers looking truly beat up, surprising for such a nice place. We asked our waiter how they served their medium-rare stakes and was told that medium-rare had a warm red center while medium had a hot red center. Based on that we ordered a filet mignon, blackened ribeye, dry aged porterhouse with bone marrow add-on, and grilled salmon along with all but two of their sides. The waiter brought out complementary champagne to help celebrate the birthday, which was nice. After waiting some time we had to request their famous bread basket twice. I'd think that's something that would automatically be served but apparently not. It was about then that a number of gnats appeared and hovered around the champagne. We tried waving them away but eventually a few drowned into the champagne. The bread and their specialty butters finally came out and were good. We were having a good time and looked forward to our meal. The main and side courses were served and it all looked fantastic. Here's where our evening took and abrupt turn for the worse. I'll say that the sides were great, flavorful and well made, we had zero complaints about the sides. The mains however were the complete opposite. All 3 steaks came out overdone and the salmon was way over salted. I don't like returning food back to the kitchen, but all three steaks completely missed their marks by a wide margin. The waiter agreed and said he'll have them replaced. While this was happening even more gnats came by, this time joined by a gaggle of aggressive house flies. We spent a good deal of time shooing away the flying insects. While we waited for the steaks to come out, we started on the sides. The manager came by to tell us the replacement steaks would be 10 more minutes and asked if everything was alright. Understand that at this point I was trying to eat the sides without a plate (the wait staff never came back after taking the steaks away and there wasn't anyone to flag down in the patio). This was not the evening at Alexander's that I was anticipating. It was funny that the manager offered to comp me, just me and not the whole table, a drink. I declined the drink, I just wanted a plate. The steaks eventually came out. Feeling like we had the chance to reset our evening, I was hopeful that they would be cooked right this time. It didn't quite work out that way. The filet mignon and ribeye were still super dry (literally no juice came out when cutting it). The porterhouse came out as it should however, medium-rare but leaning more to medium according to our waiter's description. Its bone marrow accompaniment was finished before the steak made it back out however so it was disappointing not to have them together. The manager checked on us again, I told him that the ribeye was still over cooked and one of the toughest cuts of beef I have ever had. He offered to comp the ribeye, which is a nice gesture but at this point it was too little too late to save the disappointing dining experience. Our waiter pretty much evaporated after he took the steaks away earlier in the evening and didn't return to our table until it was time to bring the check. He did bring us two cotton candies but it wasn't enough to turn this guy's frown upside down. Luckily we had a fantastic birthday cake back at home that helped do that. Those in our party that have been to Alexander's before were quite shocked at the Pasadena location's food and service quality. They say it wasn't like any of their previous visits. Being it was my first time there, I can't help but feel disappointed and have big reservations on ever visiting again. If you do go, don't sit outside.

I had eaten here prior to the Pandemic and had a great experience eating in the outdoors area. We wanted to eat outdoors for my wife's birthday, so I decided to take my family here 2 nights ago. It started off on a bad note. We made it there close to the end of happy hour, not knowing that there was a happy hour menu. Asked the server if we can order one round drinks from the happy hour, before it was over. He told us we had to order at the bar, which is understandable, but I have never been to a restaurant that wouldn't have accommodated us. The food was good, but service was subpar. The server looked very young and inexperienced. At the end of the night, we asked if he can pack the leftovers. The kid had the audacity to just pack the steaks and leave the sides. I asked a second time if he can pack the sides. He packed a few and left the remaining amount. My sister tested him when we walked by us. She told the server, if he's busy, he can bring boxes and we will box it ourselves. He graciously brought us more boxes. When the bill came and I saw that a 20% service charge was already included, it all made sense. Why work harder when he's already getting a $150 tip? I worked as a busboy when I was a teen, so I'm more sympathetic to servers when it is busy. It was not busy. As a medical professional now, we can afford the luxury of eating at some nice restaurants once in a while. This is the only bad review I have ever written for a restaurant.

Birthday party of 20 for the chef's tasting menu please! Parked on the street for free at 7pm on a Sunday. Our party was greeted right away and situated in a private dining room with assigned seating so that the servers could keep track of everyone's allergies and preferences. They graciously poured the champagne we brought and made sure our glasses were always full. All of the dishes were beautifully presented and had so many different textures and unique flavors and ingredients.Favorite dish: Kaluga caviar with beef tartare and black truffle atop the Hokkaido milk bread. EXQUISITE!! So tasty. I could've just eaten 23 of those and called it a day. Other dishes on the menu: - hamachi sashimi, very light and fresh tasting (nothing fishy going on here!) not sure if I really liked the weird bland shrimp chip thing. Might be there to add texture? - Hokkaido diver scallop was ok. Polenta was more of a deconstructed thing, was kind of looking for the creamy goodness that I'm use to. Nice piece of scallop though. - summer truffle udon noodles, loved the texture of the noodles! Sauce was a little on the salty side and truffle flavor wasn't too strong. White foam was.. interesting - A5 Miyazaki ribeye - first time trying A5 Wagyu and now I'll find it difficult to go back to regular ribeye. I don't even remember the doneness but I don't think it mattered bec the meat just melted in my mouth and was delicious. - flourless chocolate cake was surprisingly super decadent and was paired nicely with the raspberry sorbetDrinks: aside from the champagne we brought, I ordered the shoeblack plant stained boots ($18). Could not order it by name for the life of me so just said the one with the bourbon and the boots and the hibiscus. Very unique tasting and refreshing! All in all enjoyable experience. Excellent service and ambiance. $240 for a meal is a little steep but when you factor in the exclusive menu items (which don't seem to be offered on the regular dinner menu) it was cool for a one-time experience. You should also expect the serving sizes to be.. tasting sized. Might wait for the Dine LA menu for part 2 if my beloved Kaluga caviar is offered with that one. Or come back just for good ole steak and hamachi shots.

What an amazing experience!!! We tried the Chef's tasting menu and I would recommend it whether you're coming here for the first time or a returning patron! Each dish was fantastic and the wait staff is just as amazing! Our waiter was so knowledgable about the cocktails, food, and just generally was very friendly I can't wait to come back to Alexander's!

I did the chef's tasting menu because I wanted to try a little bit of everything that Alexander's has to offer. To keep it straight to the point, all the meat dishes were fantastic, but all of the seafood dishes were mediocre. I should have ordered steak dishes only since this restaurant is known for that. The kaluga caviar with washugyu beef tartare, Hokkaido milk bread and black truffle was my favorite from the tasting menu. It was also topped with some gold flakes to make the presentation more elegant. As for the taste, it was a great combo of saltiness and sweetness from everything together. The A5 Miyazaki ribeye was also a splendid course. It was cooked medium rare and was perfect. It has a great crispy outer layer and the inside wasn't overcooked at all. Other courses from the tasting menu such as the hamachi sashimi, risotto and the seared Hokkaido diver scallops were really dissatisfying. It was not impressive. The hamachi sashimi didn't taste fresh, the risotto was super salty, and the seared scallops were bland and overcooked. If you want some sort of seafood course then I'd recommend ordering a hamachi shot. It was the only decent seafood dish they had on the menu. The dessert was a flourless chocolate cake with organic raspberry sorbet. It was really tasty! We also got a few other complimentary desserts such as watermelon cotton candy and something similar to a fruit tart. They also give out complimentary bread and butter and it includes different types of bread and they also had a bone marrow butter which was my favorite. Speaking of bone marrow, I ordered a side of bone marrow and it was also yummy! Very soft, buttery and salty.
