Last night was my 3rd visit to AG in the past two years, and while it was with friends to celebrate I was a bit apprehensive: my last two visits weren't great experiences. Sadly, the trend continues. My disappointing & disappointed experience stems from AG's premise: the steak. The steaks are the stars here, and that is the experience you want...and are paying mightily for. So no matter how marvelous the appetizers are, the wine is, the desserts are, etc.. you come here for the meat. Given that single-serving beef offerings are largely limited to sirloin, ribeye, and absurdly priced Wagyu, the reasonable expectation is that your order would be...well, awesome. It wasn't, and hasn't been. Last night was the 2nd time I ordered the ribeye, and my wife got the sirloin. This time I ordered 'medium' in order to get 'medium rare', since apparently at AG temperature designations are their own, and err to the 'rarer'. I should have known that it would not be a great experience - again - when my steak came out with a little Polish flag. The waiter explained that the meat was from Poland. What? When did Poland become a purveyor of fine meat? My wife's was from Scotland. Anyway, my heart started sinking as I gamely tried to cut the meat (medium rare, for medium). I'm was tough, rubbery, not very flavorful, and definitely NOT worth $50. I buy much better meat at Ostermalm Saluhall, so am stumped - again - as to why they can't serve a better grade of meat? My wife's sirloin was much better, but definitely not Peter Luger grade (as has been commented here, and I'm a displaced New Yorker). The apps & sides were fine (chanterelles toast, mozzarella di buffala, potatoes gratin, etc..). But they're not what you come for. We had 3 bottles of Gaja's 'Promis' (divine), but after a big spectacle of decanting and tasting the wine first, we were served a corked wine (quickly replaced). Really? The Bearnaise was too lemony, and was mixed with parsley (Hmmm...) This will be my last trip here. It's just too expensive for mediocre meat: $800 / SEK 6,500 for two steaks and two burgers. I am giving it three stars because the waiter was a nice guy. Consider elsewhere for your Stockholm steak experience...
